Dr. Jessica Cioffi went above and beyond to make the experience as comforting as possible. Her empathy, professionalism, and ability to guide me through such a difficult time quickly earned my trust. Because of her, I now bring my new dog to Bulger, and I couldn't be happier with that decision. The level of service here is truly outstanding. Dr. Flynn was also incredible--thorough, thoughtful, and clear with her suggestions, which gave me confidence in the care plan moving forward. Bulger has proven to be a place where both pets and owners are treated with the utmost respect and compassion. I will continue to bring my pets here and highly recommend them to anyone seeking exceptional veterinary care.

UNETHICAL REFUSAL TO HELP…read more I called their ER last night to confirm they were open. I found a wounded rabbit in my yard wanted to bring in, because in all likelihood it needed to be euthanized. When I lived in North Andover I would occasionally do this with wounded animals. They were always gracious. NOT ANYMORE! They refused to take the animal. How unethical. Their refusal basically said we don't care if the animal is suffering, or that you want to help the animal and are asking for help from veterinary professionals (?), but take it somewhere else. I am a physician and my sister is a veterinary surgeon. We have a profound respect for living beings and SHOULD NOT EVER REFUSE TO HELP A WOUNDED ANIMAL IN PAIN. How can you call yourselves a "veterinary emergency room" when you turn away animals?? Let me guess, the economics of it were not favorable. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

So far, so pleased…read more Classical homeopathy, muscle testing, nutrition consults, acupuncture, and Chinese medicine all under one roof, administered by 2 vets, a husband and wife team. The husband oversees Chinese medicine, acupuncture, and shares the nutritional consults with his wife, Martha Lindsay, who also handles classical homeopathy, and behavior medicine. Through a modality called muscle testing, an off shoot of kineseology, in one hour Dr. Martha Lindsay and I learned that my dog has allergies to grain, dairy, nuts, pork, venison, soy, and white potatoes. In addition, we also learned that some of her dog food, treats, and vitamins disagreed with her. Bella's a dog, I know, but an ounce of prevention now could mean a pound of cure later. When you've lost a beloved and loyal companion to a mysterious illness that baffled some of the top vets on the east coast, to prevent that from happening again, you'll take every precaution possible. In just 24 hours after the appointment my pup stopped chasing her tail and biting at herself as if there were a small festivity of fleas living la vida loca. The appointment is expensive, $225 for the hour, but in the long and short run, worth it. You won't get a diagnosis right away. Dr Lindsay will consider EVERY aspect of your conversation, her notes, your intake form, ponder it, call you the following day and the day after that to ask more questions, gathering more information, and then come up with a diagnosis. She is thorough, personable, and K-9 friendly. Her clinic is spotless, has good clean energy throughout, and the exam room is really dog friendly with tennis balls and stuffed toys. My dog was so relaxed in her office, she took a nap. The nutritional supplements prescribed are human grade, bioavailable, and effective, as I have taken some of Standard Process' nutrional supplements myself. They are not a full service veterinary office, so you'll have to seek allopathic care elsewhere. This is where you go before or after your dog has a a reaction to a vaccine, her food, environment, you, etc... The 40 minute drive was well worht the results we have seen in just 24 hours.

Steer clear of this place! They almost killed my dog…read more The FDA issued a warning about Credelio causing seizures on Sept 21st, 2018. Four months later they gave it to my dog! Immediately she started having diarrhea but I didn't connect the two. Then she started having seizures and the second one she stopped breathing in my arms. After I got back from the emergency Vet, I started to do research. When I called them to find out the name of the medication I also found out they gave her TWICE the amount for her weight! My dog is 76 pounds and they gave her a dose for a 100lb dog. This is clearly medical malpractice to gave prescribed a dangerous drug and also too much of it! I would like to remove their Cornell diploma and run it through the shredder. These people belong in jail!

Upon becoming new patients I was very impressed with the compassion and great care they provided to me and my pets. When my dog suffered a stroke and had to be put down, Dr Johnson was so kind and comforting. Fast forward to 2018, where the facility is now caring for my aging cat, who they diagnosed with Bladder stones. The price for the surgery was off the charts and I couldn't afford such a thing. The alternative was taht They put her on a special diet to dissolve the stones., and then when I tried to order food, they failed to do so. Upon calling multiple times to obtain food or a prescription where I could get it elsewhere I was told that they could not give me a prescription and they could not help me and that they no longer wanted to treat my cat. I asked them to please send me a prescription as my cat now would need to return to food that caused the stones as I had to be able to feed her something. I then received and email that They no longer wanted to treat my cat and were sending me a prescription and my records. This was so shocking to me that an actual VET that was so caring before would turn into not so much of the care of the animal but now turned into a money hungry uncaring person. My opinion is things changed when I couldn't dole out the money for surgery and wanted to try an alternative plan. When the alternative plan was to buy my food closer to home they felt they would no longer benefit from me being a customer. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE Customer service and patient Care!!!!

Some are fantastic and kind, and the vet techs are always lovely. When he was a puppy, the dr was so sweet and calm with him to make sure he had a positive experience. But then multiple times in the past year and a half my dog was seen by a dr that did not try to greet him, give him treats, or comfort him in any way. He initially was pretty calm in the vet but after having these experiences he is now terrified. He snapped at one of these vets while getting a shot because he was so scared (I have never seen him have this reaction to anything before) and the vet said nothing to me, just muzzled him and brought him to the back. I am fine with the muzzle and having him taken to the back, but I wish there was some kindness shown towards either of us. Now I assume there is a note about this incident in his file, which I understand from a safety standpoint, but in the two times we have gone in since this, the drs have immediately muzzled him and again not spent time greeting or treating him. I had taken him to a different animal hospital for a non-invasive procedure (something not as scary as shots) and although he was nervous being in the environment, all the staff showered him with love and he was fine unmuzzled. I don't think we will be able to return to Riverside since my dog is so afraid and frankly I feel uncomfortable, which is too bad considering that some of the staff is excellent.

My dog needs dental work. Which if you've ever had dental work on your pet, you know its not…read moreinexpensive. So I took him to the vet where he had prior dental work done. This vet told me I need to have an echocardiogram done before they would do the dental work. And this vet does not do echos. So I began making calls. Every place required a previsit before they would do an echo. So its yet one more cost added to the separate cost of the echocardiogram. Riverside was one of the places I called last week. I agreed to a previsit, and they asked me to send the dog's records. Which I did over the weekend. Now today, Carole (Scheduling Liaison) sent me an email telling me Dr. Ledoux is NOT accepting new patients for echos. Thanks. Thanks for wasting my time. And for not caring about me trying to take proper care of my dog. This dental will cost over, maybe well over $1000. And don't expect help or understanding here. Not like I asked for a discount or for them to do anything for other than their fees.
