    Shrimp with garlic sauce
    Todd P.

When we first walked in, we were pleasantly surprised by how nice it looks inside. And there are many outdoor tables as well. Our server Linda was very helpful and nice, but she was spread pretty thinly when we walked in and it took a while for her to get to us. We both ordered luncheon specials. We both ordered hot and sour soup and it was delicious. And we both ordered protein with garlic sauce. One of us ordered shrimp and the other had pork. There were five large shrimp in the one plate and lots of pork in the other. But our complaint was with the vegetables. There were very large chunks and were underdone. And there were no knives on the table so we had a hard time cutting the veggies as well. The flavor of both dishes was great. We were sort of unhappy with the fact that we really didn't taste any garlic. The egg roll that came with the luncheon plates was delicious as well. All in all, there was nothing that made this restaurant unique.

Our heavenly dinner all packed up!

Three of us fed with my trusty steed! Fell in love with Good Fortune! Great everything!

So far I've been to good fortune two times. The first time I bought chicken pad, Thai and the second time I got the grill chicken teriyaki combo and the Kung pow chicken Everything has been very flavorful and travel as well The staff is super friendly and even gave me a small little toy for my daughter Ambiance's clean, plenty of seating and it does not smell in this restaurant like it does in some other Asian restaurants that I've been to

Ordered delivery for dinner tonight. They pack your order in insulated bags which is wonderful, overall the food is really good. The Shrimp Tempura isn't worth the price so if you're contemplating that, I'd pass. Overall this place is pretty expensive especially for what you get. It's newer so we wanted to try it. It's good, not sure if it's $150 for 2 people good though. Still on the fence if we'll be back simply for the cost. Everything starts at $20 for a dish.

Yes, avoid this restaurant! For $140 I got two small bags of food! On their website they offer egg rolls for $4.50, it does say each however the picture next to it shows three eggrolls! So what do you think you're getting you're getting three eggrolls for $4.50. No each tiny little eggroll is $4.50. Absolutely not worth the money. I ordered a group order and they didn't even label what each container was.

    The aforementioned soup.

Tried Good Fortune on opening day. It's tucked next to Ace Hardware at Pinnacle Peak and Scottsdale Road, and I walked out seriously impressed. Upsides: Whenever I try a new Chinese restaurant, I order Beef with Broccoli as my test. If they can get that right, the rest of the menu's probably solid. Good Fortune didn't just pass -- it set the bar. The beef was juicy and velveted perfectly, broccoli cooked just right. Easily the best I've had in the Valley. The lunch special came with flavorful fried rice (not just brown rice with soy), a surprisingly good cup of soup, and wontons with thick skins that held up -- not the flimsy ones that disintegrate. Soup wasn't war wonton -- just a good ol' peace-time broth. The staff was friendly and efficient, especially for an opening day. That says a lot. They're in the old Jade Palace spot -- yes, I know Jade Palace moved a block over, and technically North Scottsdale still had Chinese food -- but this was our spot. The one that mattered. The throne sat empty, and Good Fortune just took the crown. Downsides: It's $20 for a lunch special. Sure, that's more than a typical mall joint -- but you get what you pay for. Personally, I'd rather shell out an extra 5 bucks and get the perfect meal than glare at dried-up beef, mushy broccoli, thin sauce, and wonder why I hate myself. They're a little hard to spot from the street, but that's not their fault. And at least that awful burger place is gone. Watching the cook assemble my hamburger without using pesky gloves -- while wiping his dripping face -- was enough for me. Bottom line? I'm giving this one 5 stars -- because it's perfect.

Upon entering, we were free to seat ourselves and chose a booth by the wall. It was not busy at all and the service was quick and friendly. We started off with a large sake bomb paired with a Kirin Light ($15). We then ordered two Tonkotsu Ramens, one medium spice and one hot spice ($15.99 each). Honestly, the hot spice level did not taste spicy at all, so I would recommend going extra hot if you like spice. They also provide chili powder on the table if you want to add more spice yourself. The ramen broth itself could have used a tad more flavor. I lightly added some soy sauce to the broth which is something I often do to add a little kick. I loved all of the toppings included, from the green onions to the kikurage (wood ear mushroom). My favorite part was the pork chashu, which was really tender and delicious. I also appreciated that the ramen came with a full soft boiled egg rather than half an egg, and the egg was perfectly runny. Before leaving, we ordered their tea special that was buy one get one. We got a matcha milk tea and a cafe latte which I forgot to take a photo of. I felt like the cafe latte could have used a little more sweetness to balance it. Also, I found it neat that Nishikawa offers a rewards program, not something I see often at ramen shops. My true rating would be 4.5 due to some of the criticisms I mentioned above, but overall I still had a good experience. Thank you for serving us. Visited 5/2/26

I sat there for several minutes and when she came back, she asked if I was ready to order. I asked for a menu and then she tapped this little sign on the table that had a QR code on it. I guess they want you to use your phone to look up the menu but then she brought me a printed menu and a glass of water. I had about a minute to look at the menu before the waitress came back and asked what I wanted. I ordered the small portion of the chicken karaage appetizer and the Nishikawa Black Ramen. Both items came out at about the same time. The chicken was good and there was a lot which somewhat surprised me because I thought they had given me a large portion by mistake. The only downside was that the plate was really small so the chicken kept tumbling onto the table. The ramen was just ok. It came in a really big bowl and there was a lot of broth and toppings but relatively little noodles in comparison. It was more like a bowl of soup. The slice of pork was huge but a little bit chewy when I was expecting it to be tender. The egg wasn't sliced so it was difficult to pick up the entire piece with my chopsticks. The chicken was $7 and the ramen was $18. I would have been ok just getting the chicken, perhaps a large portion for $12. I wouldn't get this particular ramen again. With tax and a tip my total was a little over $31 which isn't the most I've spent at a ramen restaurant, but it wasn't cheap either. I wasn't offered a refill on my drink until after I had paid and was ready to leave. In fact, I only saw the waitress once after my food was brought out, and that was when she brought me the bill. The rest of the time she was somewhere in the kitchen.

We opted to try 2 different types of ramen so we could share-- Tonkatsu and Spicy Miso. Both solid flavors and my main gripe is that for some reason my tonkatsu bowl used a different type of ramen noodle that was thinner and less chewy than the Spicy Miso. I liked those noodles better. The pork that comes with the ramen is delicious! Rainbow roll was good and I probably didn't need to order the tootsie roll, as it was essentially a rainbow roll minus the fish on top. The sushi itself was decent, nothing crazy, but definitely better than grocery store quality. The tuna and salmon pieces were a little fishy, maybe not the freshest, but it was also quite late (~10pm) so I wasn't expecting too much. Beautifully presented, and the cuts were quite large which was nice! The food came out pretty fast, and the service was pleasant. The restaurant vibes are pretty dark, and moody.
