Crispy Trio Sampler- not my favorite
    Jaslean A.

Really enjoyed our meal! Our waiter Madox was very nice and gave us a recommendation of the ribs which were delicious! My favorite dish was the BAO BUNS they were EXCELLENT. Strongly recommend those! I didn't care for the crispy rice trio it wasn't as flavorful as I'd hope and it was too crispy my jaw hurt chewing it. But the ribs and bao buns were so delicious it earned the 5 stars for me![[HIGHLIGHT]] Vibes were nice[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We arrived on a Sunday at 2PM, no wait as it wasn't busy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The dining area was a bit tight as we had a baby stroller, but they made it work.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We parked for free in the underground parking. Great service, our server was professional and friendly! I ordered the Obon ramen. The spice was noticeable but tolerable for me. Good chicken:noodle:toppings ratio. The broth was tasty but not too salty. It was all delicious! I didn't finish it all on purpose so I could enjoy it the following day. Unfortunately I forgot it when we left xD

Quick stop for lunch. No wait time. Service from start to finish was good. I ordered the Fukushu roll a salmon nigiri. Both were tasty! If you're looking for some heat, get the Fukushu roll. My husband got the Obon ramen. That was also a winner. The broth was tasty with all the fixings. I'd skip the fried calamari next time. It was overly battered and less meat. Parking is located in the garage right next to the resturant.

This is located in the Scottsdale Quarter, there's a decent amount of parking but it appears the area stays pretty busy. Service was decent. I was going to order an alcoholic beverage but the server was busy or something for a bit so I didn't order one bc by the time they came around I had changed my mind. Maybe next time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restroom door looks heavy but is very light, and it swung open hard into the trash can. Apparently it wasn't just me that was surprised by it, the person behind me did the same thing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Calamari --10/10 would definitely eat it again. It wasn't overly salty, very crispy. Cooked nicely. Sometimes I don't really like sharing, this was one of those times. It comes with a miso sesame aioli. Super tasty. Hafu signature roll- ooh this one was a 9/10. The ratio of rice to fish was good, not overly heavy with the rice. 9/10. Definitely one to get if you like spicy tuna and salmon. It wasn't spicy on its own in my opinion but still had nice flavors. I had the Obon ramen. I ordered it with an extra egg bc I love soft eggs in ramen. The pork belly in there gives a great texture along with the beech mushrooms. The ground chicken sounds basic but it wasn't spicy on well rounded in this dish. The noodles were not overcooked, they had a good texture. All the flavors complemented each other nicely. It lists the soup base as spicy red miso. I didn't think it was spicy but I didn't need to add anything to adjust it. It was a little salty, but not to the point where it was making me thirsty. 8/10. We also ordered salmon teriyaki. It was a "large plate". Portion size was good. Nice teriyaki flavor, not too sweet, and salmon was cooked nicely. 8/10 We also ordered tonkotsu ramen. The mild broth is rich and not too salty. I think this is run by the owner of Bisutoro, and I didn't order the same things as I did there. However, the food I tried was better at this location in comparison to the other location. Would I be back? Yes definitely when I'm in the area.

Visiting Scottsdale quarter for some shopping, I finally got to hit up Obon Sushi - it's been on my bucket list forever. I strolled in around 5 and the place was basically empty. Zoe the waitress was super friendly, so that was a win. I went all out and ordered Bluefin tasting (sashimi; soy akami, chutoro, otoro & Pineapple sake. The sashimi was ridiculously good; Otoro, the fatty buttery tuna literally stole the show. The pineapple sake was pretty decent too. All in all, a solid visit.

Matcha Pancakes - This one was my favorite dish of what we ordered, fluffy whip cream on the side to match the fluffy matcha pancakes with a subtley sweet syrup. It all went together very nicely Karage - The chicken wasn't dried out but it was a little bland, has a subtle citrus lime taste to it that was different Omurice - Also bland, but I'm glad they have it since no one else does! Ramen - bland broth (not pictured) Hip atmosphere in a great location, the menu has yummy looking options but their food tends to be more on the bland side in my opinion. Not a bad place to go to if you're in the area though.

6/28/25. Celebrated my friend's belated birthday here over the weekend. We had reservations for 5 people at 7pm at the sushi bar. It's a busy area but the parking garage around the corner wasn't too bad. The place is small compared to the Bisuturo location but busier. It was a little warm inside on this night. I was seated right away (the rest were late. So sorry!). I ordered a drink to sip on while I waited and Chef Po made a yellowtail poke salad to snack on. After they arrived, we all decided to leave things up to chef. Wow, everything was delicious! Drinks: Black Tea Old Fashioned Casa & Sprit Sake Bombers 5 Casamigo Shots 1 Whiskey shot Food: Yellowtail Poke Salmon Poke Yuzu Yellowtail Tuna Crudo Salmon Crudo Shiro Maki Roll Yellowtail Nigiri Salmon Nigiri Tuna Nigiri Yellowtail Belly Sashimi Uni Ikura Scallop Spoons Pork Belly Starter The Black Tea Old Fashioned was a bit too strong for me. It sounded and looked interesting but wish I ordered the Tiki Kaji instead. For the food, my favorites were all of the yellowtail items. Also loved the uni ikura spoons too. We wanted to order more cuz it was so good but they ran out of uni. I recommend all things yellowtail here but some other specific items to order are the Shiro Maki Roll, Salmon Crudo (not on menu) and Uni Ikira Spoons (not on menu). Our waiter, Ethan, was really nice and everyone in the back was friendly as well. Thank you to Chef Po for making us some tasty dishes and PJ for the pork belly dish as well. Say hi to them if you see them! =)

The food had no taste!! That's a sin for a restaurant. Ordered Obon ramen, vegan ramen, edamame hummus, butter noodles and cucumber roll. Only saving grace was the hummus. Everything else was below average. Won't go again and don't recommend it to anyone. Save your money and tastebuds and go somewhere else. Also service was ok, we saw our waitress 3 times since we sat to till we left.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I thought this was a super fancy place, but it's actually pretty casual.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered it from the happy hour menu which gave us great value. Wait staff was a little bit lacking but not something I mind too much. Will definitely come back !

We made a reservation for my friends birthday here and got sat in front of the sushi bar. We had a great experience getting served by Po the sushi chef right in front of us. It was a very modern cute place. We did a omakase dinner where the chef just makes specials for us as we go. I love the omakase experience. Everything tasted very fresh and the presentations were spectacular! My favorites were the yellowtail , salmon and uni! He made each dish with unique sauces that paired well with them. The staffs were all very friendly ! Music wasn't overly loud. Definitely recommend this sushi place !

    Bluefin Tasting

Made reservations at 5 pm on Sunday on Father's Day and we were able to get right in. Love the modern look to the place and it's not too loud inside despite its smaller dining area. Our Server was super nice and friendly. Everyone working there were all very nice. As for the food, some were ok and some were mediocre and do not recommend and here's why. Food ordered, I will start with the good. 1. Bluefin Tasting - this was pretty good. I enjoyed it very much. If you like sashimi and tuna, definitely should try this. 2. Yuzu yellowtail Crudo - sauce was delicious paired with the yellowtail. 3. Hafu Roll - this roll was good. I would order it again. It's spicy tuna roll topped with salmon. 4. Wagyu Egg roll - oof... the sauce... is way too salty. It tasted like soy sauce mixed with way too much salt in it. Just bad. The sauce needs some adjustment big time. I can't remember if the egg roll is any good after the sauce hit my mouth. 5. Pork Bao - I've had better so I was disappointed that it was dry and lacked flavors. 6. Tonkotsu Ramen - I was surprised that the meat was tough and the soup was very salty.

We stopped in for lunch on a whim. I went with the pokebowl with a mixed greens base and it was delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Service was friendly and the restaurant vibe is very nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The fish tasted fresh and delicious and proportions of the bowl were good. Even though the bowl was great, they have so many other options that sounded good so I'll definitely have to try something new next time

This place was a new discovery for me, though I'm sure it's already a favorite for many locals. We've never had to wait for a table, which is a huge plus. Let me just start by saying--we loved everything we ordered. Both bao buns were absolutely to die for, with The Bird totally stealing the show. Then came the Kanto Beef, which was packed with flavor and had me hooked from the first bite. We also tried the Obon Ramen, which was rich, savory, and super satisfying. Overall, this spot has quickly become one of our go-to places. We'll definitely be coming back often!

An update from 7 months ago--…read more I've been to this Mensho location a few times now, it's actually very close to my house, I could walk there. Maybe when it's not summer I will :) I had previously mentioned I've been to Mensho Ramen in Japan twice and this location seems to be very close to quality and flavors. I've tried different appetizers on each visit here and I always get the Garlic Knock Out ramen bowl because I love garlic, but next time I need to branch out and try the duck matcha bowl, a friend of mine swears by it. It sounds like an odd flavor combo, but I hear it just works. Coming here is pricey, so this isn't my everyday ramen shop, but once in a while I enjoy it. Other reviewers mention not liking the noodle texture, the soup broth thickness, or overall flavors. Some have even questioned its Japanese authenticity. That's most funny to me, given it's very close to the ramen I had at Mensho in actual Japan. So I don't think it's Mensho who is unfamiliar with Japanese cuisine... I don't love all the apps I've had, for instance I would skip the Takoyaki or corn ribs, or $8 edamame. Next time I'd like to try the Aji fry, many people have said that's good. So, it's likely coming down to personal preference. Service has been solid so far. Servers are friendly and food comes out fairly quickly. Anyhoo, I'd still recommend this spot, and bring friends or family. We recently brought a friend who is vegan and she was happy to see vegan based broths and items on the menu. I think the price point makes it hard for some people to enjoy this place, as it costs about double compared to other bowls of ramen in the valley. But I appreciate that they make their noodles in house and the dining space is very authentic to a ramen shop in Japan (small and nice wood decor). It does remind me of being in Tokyo, which I miss dearly. Mensho here is more expensive than Tokyo. Food in the US costs way more in general. I think most folks would be surprised to learn that. But it's true, Japan has the most amazing food scene and they execute everything perfectly yet it's cheaper in many instances. I was blown away by how affordable food was in Japan. IMO that says more about the state of affairs in the US, and less about this specific restaurant. Some reviews have noted poor quality and management, I haven't noticed that yet, and I hope it doesn't happen. So far, I've liked it enough to keep going back every now and again :)

Upon entering, we were free to seat ourselves and chose a booth by the wall. It was not busy at all and the service was quick and friendly. We started off with a large sake bomb paired with a Kirin Light ($15). We then ordered two Tonkotsu Ramens, one medium spice and one hot spice ($15.99 each). Honestly, the hot spice level did not taste spicy at all, so I would recommend going extra hot if you like spice. They also provide chili powder on the table if you want to add more spice yourself. The ramen broth itself could have used a tad more flavor. I lightly added some soy sauce to the broth which is something I often do to add a little kick. I loved all of the toppings included, from the green onions to the kikurage (wood ear mushroom). My favorite part was the pork chashu, which was really tender and delicious. I also appreciated that the ramen came with a full soft boiled egg rather than half an egg, and the egg was perfectly runny. Before leaving, we ordered their tea special that was buy one get one. We got a matcha milk tea and a cafe latte which I forgot to take a photo of. I felt like the cafe latte could have used a little more sweetness to balance it. Also, I found it neat that Nishikawa offers a rewards program, not something I see often at ramen shops. My true rating would be 4.5 due to some of the criticisms I mentioned above, but overall I still had a good experience. Thank you for serving us. Visited 5/2/26

Overall, I really enjoyed it, although the eel was probably my least favorite of the flight just personal preference. The crispy tuna rice was easily the star of the meal! Crispy, flavorful, and the textures worked so well together. I would 100% order that again. The ramen, however, was just okay for me. It wasn't bad or inedible, but the broth was lacking that rich, deep flavor I look for in a good bowl of ramen. A little more depth and seasoning would really take it to the next level. The service was honestly one of the highlights. Our waiter was super friendly, cool, and attentive without hovering, which I always appreciate. Overall, there were definitely more hits than misses. The Caipirinia was the other drink which was made authentically as well. No complaints on the bartender. Food was 3 Bao Buns and a Chow Mein entree with grilled chicken added on top. This was the perfect amount of food for 2 people. The Bao Buns were extremely soft and light on the breading. If you get them from Din Tai Fung they tend to be dough heavy. These were NOT like that. Chicken and Eggplant buns were tasty and had a light kick to them. Noodles were probably the weakest items, I prefer the rice/flat noodles, but these were normal chow mein noodles. But I had to split the dish with my dining companion who enjoyed the noodles quite a bit. I'd go with Udon or Flat Noodles next time and ask them to add chili flakes. No room for dessert but it sounded delicious, something with bananas. Mhmmm!

Found this spot while craving some Asian food, which can be surprisingly hard in this city. We…read morewalked in on a weekday about 30 mins before they closed and they happily seated us. There were still about 4 groups still in the restaurant, but was mainly open. I could see this place getting busy during the weekends though, so recommend a res if you're here during peak hours. We started with cold sake and a couple of cocktails. Super cute and yummy drinks, creative and complimented the overall theme. The Asahi beer was huge and came with an ice cold glass, perfect! We got the orange chicken and drunken noodles with added chicken breast. The food was fresh and tasty. I liked that the orange chicken came with rice, and was not overly breaded. The drunken noodles were pretty salty but overall good. These two entrees were enough for two people to take a little bit of leftovers home. Recommend for a nice date night or if looking for some Asian fusion. We'll be back!
