The soup I had egg drop my husband wonton. Not a drop was left. I had orange chicken with all white meat and my hubby General Taos with white meat both with veggie fried rice and egg rolls. Let me start by saying that we really like the food here. We *used* to like eating at the restaurant - they have a lovely, well-shaded side patio next to a small pond and garden that birds like to frequent. Although you can still see the parking lot from some seats, it's quite protected from it. They also have a small, crowded front patio that gets some shade, but also gets traffic noise and fumes from the parking lot, and we find it very unpleasant. Additionally, my mother has issues with the motion of cars across her field of vision (it makes her sick), and there's literally nowhere for her to sit in the front patio where she can actually eat without getting sick. Recently, we've gone several times and been told that the side patio is closed, so we have, unfortunately, stopped going to eat there. I will still pick up a to-go order sometimes, but we're usually looking to enjoy a meal out. We'd love to return to Good Fortune, but until we can sit in the side patio area, it's simply not an option. read more

This was our first visit to Good Fortune but it will not be our last. We enjoyed the luncheon special, which includes an egg roll, soup, the entrée and rice. It was hot and delicious and there was plenty thus requiring a take-home box. Great value! Linda took great care of us and we didn't feel rushed to pay or to leave. We stopped by for lunch. The interior is very clean and aesthetically pleasant. The patio will be awesome when it cools off. Staff is very friendly and efficient. I had the chicken with vegetables lunch special including soup and an egg roll (L2) A little too much dough on the egg roll but the chicken portion was very generous and tasted delicious. The hot and sour soup was excellent and not overly too spicy which I appreciated. My husband had the chicken ramen soup which he enjoyed very much. What others may find bland was simply less sodium used than you would expect from most Chinese restaurants. It's a much healthier way to eat and easy to add more sodium if it is desired. The lunch specials are an excellent value and the chicken with curry sauce is especially delicious. It comes with choice of soup, your choice of white or fried rice and eggroll! Linda is always delightful and very friendly and always aims to please with her genuine smile and Service. They don't have their liquor license yet, but will very soon. I would like them to be a bit more efficient with the preparation of the dishes because it took literally a half hour from the time I ordered my entrée to the time it got delivered. read more

Just ordered my third takeout meal from this new Chinese food place in North Scottsdale, with a sister location in Surprise. Overall I would say the food is very good with some things being a little bit better than others. For instance any of their pork dishes are absolutely fabulous with large pieces of char sui pork. We especially like the pork egg foo young and pork with vegetables. I've also tried moo goo gai pan and beef with mushrooms, and both are very tasty. One thing I thought was just average was shrimp fried rice. There's nothing wrong with it but it was not something I would go back in order unless I was absolutely craving it. They have decent eggrolls not quite as big as I would like but they are traditional style rolls. As they are getting busier their pick up service is getting a little slower, but overall will definitely keep ordering and possibly going in to eat at this good Chinese food place. Prices are about $17-$18 for most meals, and the portion size is decent. read more

Went here tonight to try, despite the mixed reviews. I agree with all the negative reviews. Especially the one that said the Chicken dish ( we had phoenix Dragon) was like a frozen bag of chicken from Costco. It was supposed to be like General Tso's with shrimp and chicken. So bland and not at all like General Tso's. I decide how good Chinese is by their Lo Mein. Their Lo Mein, was not even normal lo mein. Usually I would also pack up the leftovers. I ordered orange chicken extra hot, and it was perfect. Sweet and spicy in a richly flavored orange sauce. It also came with broccoli. Nice touch. Ok, I like the building and neighboring businesses like Jalapeños Inferno that have been right next door for decades. Hopefully the lucky magic of Jalapeños will lend good fortune for, well, for Good Fortune. Two of us went to try it out. Around 5 p.m. on a Friday it wasn't busy. Seated at a table way in the back, yes, the place is huge! I ordered Szechuan Beef and my wife ordered Orange Chicken. Interesting note: orange chicken at Good Fortune uses dark meat in this dish. In my 4 decades of enjoying Chinese food, always found white meat in Orange Chicken. You can ask for white meat. Nonetheless, Orange Chicken was bland and lacking flavor. My Szechuan Beef was disappointing, no flavor except what seemed like a soapy taste and very chewy beef. Tried to adjust flavor by adding Hot Mustard, to no avail. Perhaps growing pains but Chinese food is not hard to make BUT, I have experienced exceptional Chinese food and subpar Chinese food like we had a week ago at Good Fortune. Suggest smaller portions with better ingredients. Each dinner entree doesn't have to feed 2 or more people, that is a waste. Better ingredients, concentrating on absolute quality. This is a great new place! Just finished lunch at Good Fortune and couldn't be more pleased. It is great to see a quality Chinese Food Restaurant back in North Scottsdale. The food was outstanding. Excellent food and service. Went there last night with my Aunt & Uncle. Large portions! Appetizer boneless bbq pork was crispy and perfectly sauced. Egg rolls were delicious and their hot mustard (made in house) is the best I've ever had! Hot and sour soup was also amazing. Entrees of beef and mushrooms, shrimp in garlic sauce and veggie lo mein with extra veggies took awhile as everything was cooked fresh but the wait was more than worth it. Veggies had bite and none of the dishes were overwhelmed by the sauce. You tasted every component of the dish. Special thanks to Rocky, our waitress, who was wonderful and to Christina who was assisting all the servers by bussing dishes and refilling drinks. They made the experience extra special. Three of us dined at Good Fortune Chinese in north Scottsdale last night. The food was delicious. Linda was an attentive server and our bill was $72.00 with tax and before tip, no alcohol. Very reasonable. We ordered pot stickers, 8 in and order and they brought us 9 so we could each have 3. Our main dishes were Chicken Egg Fu Young-the best I have ever had Chicken Pad Thai-delicious Orange Chicken-delicious We were able to eliminate onions from anything we ordered because everything is made from scratch. We were excited to see a new Chinese restaurant in North Scottsdale so this evening we decided to try a take-out. The website was easy to navigate although we were surprised to be asked to add a tip before placing the order - an order we placed electronically and were not expecting to receive any service - just pick up at the counter - the suggested tip started at 20%. If there was a problem with the order that got dealt with I can see adding a tip once at the counter but we hadn't even stepped foot in the place or spoken to an employee and were asked to add a 20%? This tipping thing is getting out of hand. I digress. The food was ready on time and the "bag" helped to keep it hot for the 5 minute drive home. Gotta say the food was underwhelming. The sweet and sour chicken was a large ball of fried batter with a teeny piece of chicken hidden inside. The sauce was typical for a take-out dish. The fried rice was either not fully cooked or was yesterday's rice browned with soy souce. It was al-dente (not sure the Chinese have a word for that). The Chicken Lo-Mein was devoid of flavor. Maybe that's why there was so many packets of soy sauce in the bag. The Wor Won-ton soup was was OK with fresh vegetables and several dumplings although they had very little meat in them. The broth was fairly blah with very little seasoning. The Beef and Broccoli was acceptable - the beef was fairly tender and the broccoli was not overcooked but the sauce was not very flavorful. We have eaten a lot of Chinese food all over the world and this was really rather disappointing. We hope the owners will read this review and consider it constructive criticism with the view to improve their product. read more

Very nice ambience very nice waiter, but I would have to say that the shrimp tempura and the general says chicken had a heavy breading that almost felt like it was microwaved before the sauce was put on very chewy general sauces. Went in for lunch and the staff was super friendly and welcoming. It was nice that they actually left a water carafe on the table for us as we drank a lot of water. Tried with 4 friends... the food was absolutely disgusting. The fried rice was just brown from being soaked in soy sauce. Not fried and not with proper fried rice ingredients. The mooshu had a few slivers of meat.. no exaggeration. Same with the sweet and sour chicken... tough tiny piece of meat in a giant greasy mushy ball. Egg roll tasted like a greasy mushy potato. Again, nothing inside. Not nice to try and make money and offer an inferior product. Yes we paid and left everything, after picking through but couldn't eat. The owner said can we box it? lol they can't do better and don't care. Still looking for a good Chinese place. Jade Palace has also failed when they use to be the best. read more

We had dinner at Good Fortune last week. The food was really delicious! We were a larger group so service was a little spotty, but they're brand new. It's always normal to have a few bugs to work out, but the most important part is that the food was exceptional. Everything was fresh, and delicious. The restaurant is quite large, but we decided to sit outside because it was a beautiful night. Our server was so personable. The portions were quite large, so we definitely brought food home...
