It feels like Home. I have had majority of everything on their menu, including fresh whole fish and I have also had two events of mine catered by them as well. Meaning I have purchased large trays for two events that I had.. Customer service is a hit or Miss due to them being extremely busy but they are so sweet,warm,and welcoming. My all -time favorite is the war Wong Tong soup the combination, House, fried rice, and the combination, House chowmein, and especially the Mongolian beef with white rice on the side. I love this place. I come here all the time for lunch. I get the lunch combination with Coconut Shrimp which, taste-wise, could be compared to a deep friend version of honey walnut shrimp without the actual walnuts. Just a nice, crunchy shrimp without the sauce and bed of cabbage/carrots. The service is amazing. You are greeted almost immediately upon walking in the door no matter how busy they are (and they do get busy--dine in customers and constant phone call orders). I ordered to go from here bc I was craving something warm while feeling under the weather. I got the hot & sour soup & the kung pao chicken plate with chow mein & rice. When I went to pick up the food, the restaurant was not very welcoming. The lady at the host stand was yelling at her phone while the cook was also standing around playing games on his phone. Was not the kind of customer service I'm used to, but to each their own. When it came to the food, the hot & sour soup threw me off because of the thick mushrooms that were in it & it threw off my palette. Something I would not order again from here. When it came to the plate, it was generously stacked with food! However, the flavor was a miss. I had to add a lot of sauces to it when I was eating it at home. We ordered office lunch from Good Friends today. All seven of us thought the food was okay with one person saying it was good. Good Friends is reasonably priced and has good portions. The dinner combo comes with fried rice, veggie chow mein, egg roll, soup, sweet and sour pork and plus your choice of entree for $14! That is a lot of food for $14 but the quality was poor. Honestly I would say the Thursday $8 special at Bel Air Supermarket tasted better. If you want a lot of food for a little bit of money Good Friends is a good choice. read more

They're open on Christmas! A great find, I feel like there aren't many Chinese places open on Christmas, but good friends is! Also, they have many gluten free options which is great since my wife is allergic to gluten. They were easy to order from and got everything right. I work across the way from this place so when I'm in office I always make sure to stop by for lunch or get dinner in the way home. Tonight i picked up dinner. I called my order in at lunch, and it was just finishing as I walked in. Prices are fair, the portions are big, and food is delicious! I'm a huge fan of their salt and pepper chicken. It's deep fried in good sized chunks, with peppers and onions. The chicken could be a little bigger but the flavor is right on point. We tried the broccoli beef for the first time. I like how they pack it in a hard plastic container so it doesn't leak out of the other containers. No complaints on this dish. Usually you find your self looking for beef through all the broccoli but not here! The pork fried rice and pork chow mein are spot on. The crab Rangoon were pretty good, my kids grade every Chinese restaurant based on these. Today they give a 4 star! read more

The dinner combo plates ($12-14) come with your entree choice and the basics: egg flower or hot & sour soup, sweet & sour pork, egg roll, veggie chow mein, and bbq pork fried rice. Any protein subs are extra. I got the salt & pepper spare ribs which came in good-sized pieces and fried crispy. I also ordered the house pan fried noodles (aka Hong Kong style). It was excellent and prepared exactly how I like it. Lots of meat and veggies. Our thoughtful server even brought out a side of gravy (sauce for the noodles) in case I wanted it more saucy. The basics that came with the combo were just that...basic, but the fried rice was really good. Hubs ordered his usual orange chicken (asked for non-spicy) with chicken fried rice. Again, enough for at least 2 meals and we both enjoyed the orange chicken. We had a party of 8 adults and they had reserved a table for us when we called the day before. Bountiful portions for lunch combo (I have leftovers!), place is basic, food is okay, price is nice, service is quick and pleasant from start to finish. Ordered cashew chicken lunch combo $10.25 which was liquidy and mild. No sauce for mild egg roll. Pork fried rice was alright. Vegetable chow mein was ok. Hot & sour soup was delicious. The special lychee boba (chewy not popping boba) smoothie was different but tasty $4.50. Server provided nice large ice water upon request. Good parking. I love the wok taste of the chowmein and the fish was moist and flakey. Also lightly fried so the batter isn't heavy. I placed an online order and arrived by time item was expected. I love trying new restaurants and when I saw Good Friends had such a wide variety of items on their menu I knew I had to give them a try. I ordered over the phone for pickup, but I noticed they have online ordering available as well. They have lunch offerings as well as an all day menu and there are so many choices. There are rice plates, noodles, sushi, udon, bento boxes- such a variety! For my first visit I ordered the general's chicken lunch, one of their rolls (I can't remember which one) and potstickers. They said it would be ready in 15 minutes and when I arrived it was ready to go. Everything was hot and the portions were generous. I loved the sauce that came with the potstickers, it was a bit tangy. The generals chicken was crispy and flavorful with plenty of sauce and rice and it came with an egg roll and fried rice. On its own it could have been two meals. The sushi was also tasty and the pieces were big with a good amount of fish inside and on top. Stumbled onto this place when another place close by was not open yet. Glad we did because this place is fantastic. Probably among my top 5 Chinese food places ever. We ordered one of the family dinners, the sweet and sour chicken Was perfect and the breading stayed crunchy till the end even in the sauce. I'm not normally a fan of breaded Chinese dishes but this one was really tasty. We also got cashew chicken, wonton soup, fried rice, some fried appetizers, and shrimp rice noodles. Everything was perfect, and very delicious. We spent the whole meal talking about how great it all was. I'll go back anytime, I especially like the Option of thin rice noodles since I usually prefer those to the standard chow mein. They were breaded and not crispy, and the sauce made them super soggy. I did get them to go but tried to eat them within 10 minutes. Also got an order of the honey walnut shrimp. It was good, but the shrimp seemed a little overdone. Staff was very friendly and attentive. The proportions are really more than generous. Could not finish it. Very heavy for a lunch, but also paying for what you're getting.
