I remember coming here over 10 years ago and not having a good impression. That being said I've come here twice already and the food & price is great. The family is really sweet and the person who's taking orders is really nice. They constantly have people in there getting large orders. Highly recommend the dinner & lunch special. Also they can make green beans with black bean sauce 11/10!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This unassuming family owned and operated restaurant is in a new-ish strip mall and well maintained inside with plenty of free parking.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were staying at the Residence Inn next door and needed some take out. They actually make the food when you order so I called ahead and it was about 20 minutes. I ordered chicken chow mein, orange chicken, wings, and egg rolls. Everything was yummy and my family enjoyed it. It was about $60 with tip.

My mind is blown at this extensive menu. Chinese food and sushi, it's like the Cheesecake Factory of Asian food. Had a hard time deciding but there were so many options. 5/5 Crab Rangoons. There's a hint of onion in the cream cheese. So. Freakin. Good. 3/5 crazy roll. It was okay but it's a Chinese restaurant so it's to be expected, I had higher hopes but the sushi rice felt a bit stale but I was still glad to have the sushi option. 3.5/5 beef chow fun. I've been on a hunt for beef chow fun and I've realized I'm extraordinarily picky. There were a lot of veggies I didn't expect (snap peas, mushrooms, carrots, bok choy) and flavor was good, just not quite what I was expecting. 3.5/5 Dinner combo with kung pao chicken. The portions are really big and it came with sweet and sour pork, an egg roll, fried rice and chow mein. For $16 it was a great deal and tons of food leftover. Service was good and food came out incredibly fast. I couldn't stop marveling over the extensive menu and wonder how they could possibly be able to serve so much variety every night. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I think most people grab it to go but warning that the acoustics in here are something else lol. I felt like I was in the kitchen at my families house. I didn't mind it since it felt homey but if you're not wanting that vibe I'd do take out or sit farther in the bac[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]k. All in all it was solid but not necessarily something I'd go out of my to get on the regular aside from the crab rangoons, but full disclosure aside from beef chow fun I don't really crave Chinese food so don't eat it very often as is.

We ordered office lunch from Good Friends today. All seven of us thought the food was okay with one person saying it was good. Good Friends is reasonably priced and has good portions. The dinner combo comes with fried rice, veggie chow mein, egg roll, soup, sweet and sour pork and plus your choice of entree for $14! That is a lot of food for $14 but the quality was poor. Honestly I would say the Thursday $8 special at Bel Air Supermarket tasted better. If you want a lot of food for a little bit of money Good Friends is a good choice.

They're open on Christmas! A great find, I feel like there aren't many Chinese places open on Christmas, but good friends is! Also, they have many gluten free options which is great since my wife is allergic to gluten. They were easy to order from and got everything right. The food was very good and will most likely come back next year! They have an extensive menu and would love to try some other dishes

I work across the way from this place so when I'm in office I always make sure to stop by for lunch or get dinner in the way home. Tonight i picked up dinner. I called my order in at lunch, and it was just finishing as I walked in. Prices are fair, the portions are big, and food is delicious! I'm a huge fan of their salt and pepper chicken. It's deep fried in good sized chunks, with peppers and onions. The chicken could be a little bigger but the flavor is right on point. We tried the broccoli beef for the first time. I like how they pack it in a hard plastic container so it doesn't leak out of the other containers. No complaints on this dish. Usually you find your self looking for beef through all the broccoli but not here! The pork fried rice and pork chow mein are spot on. The crab Rangoon were pretty good, my kids grade every Chinese restaurant based on these. Today they give a 4 star!

Some type of larvae in Wonton Soup
    Zachary S.

I usually order takeout from this restaurant and enjoy the food as the quality is generally really good! Ordered takeout last night and found some type of bug larvae in the Wonton Soup. Was extremely disgusted when I found it as that was going to be my next bite. I would generally be "okay" if it was like a gnat that accidentally flew in the food but larvae?? No thanks.

Lychee boba smoothie (special) $4.50 was tasty.

Both packed a good amount of heat at the spicy level, which we loved. The Lao sausage was also super flavorful, but as soon as you cut it, the inside does fall apart a bit. It's a personal preference to have a denser sausage. Service was also ok. We found ourselves needing to call over the waitress a couple times, since we were just sitting waiting to order or get a box and check at the end. Flavors are worth coming back for tho.

There are signs to direct you to the entrance of the restaurant. We were seated immediately and the server was very attentive. We hadn't been before so she made several suggestions for the broth options. We chose the pork bone and satay peanut - both were excellent. The satay peanut is not thick or peanutty. The flavors were rich and balanced. We ordered a few meats and appetizers which came out quickly. There is a cold bar area for veggies, seafood, noodles, fishballs, etc. It's well stocked and fresh. There's also a sauce area with many choices. There looks to be a hot food area but that wasn't in operation when we were there. Drinks are included and self serve. Appetizers were good especially the stuffed tofu roll and popcorn chicken. Meat was thin, fresh and flavorful. We tried the american waygu, beef belly and ribeye. The shrimp paste meatball is delicious but a little large. We were going to go with 4 stars for the location but the food and service more than makes up for it. We'll for sure be back.

My favorite was the cold noodles! so refreshing and perfect for a lighter dish. The galbi jjim was extremely flavorful. We skipped the cheese since it's an additional $3 and honestly, I don't think we missed it. The LA galbi was a little dry and for $33, I expected the meat quality to be a little better. The kimchi fried rice was tasty but had a little too much butter and cheese for my liking. The pan-fried yellow croaker was good. The banchan were actually a highlight. On my latest visit it was a very busy Sunday, but I was able to place an order for take-out and then wait in my car for the order to be ready. I ended up ordering the pork steamed rice noodle roll, the beef and cilantro steamed rice noodle roll, the garlic long beans, and the beef and mixed mushrooms. I saw a couple of other Elites dining in when I was ordering, but it was so busy I couldn't properly say hi, so "HI DAVID AND EVA!" I'll have to keep an eye out for their next review, because whatever they had looked delish! I waited in the car for a bit and then when the order still needed a few more minutes I popped into the dollar store next door to kill a bit more time. Before I knew it my order was ready to go. They packed everything really nicely and we served it up as soon as we got home. Their rice noodle rolls are so flavorful and I love the sweet, salty and savory sauce that comes with it. The noodles are really filling, and the dishes we got would be enough food for 2-4 people depending on how hungry you are. We ate the rice rolls right away and then had leftover green beans and beef and mushrooms for lunch today. The green beans were fresh and had a great garlic flavor, without it being too much. The Beef and Mushrooms was great, the beef was tender and flavorful and the mushrooms soaked up all the sauce. There were also green beans in this dish, which was a perfect addition. I really need to dine in soon for the full experience, but take-out has always been a win for me.

The food came out fast and piping hot. Pretty soon our entire table was covered with dishes. We started with the hot and sour soup, which we both felt was lacking in the flavor department. It didn't have that spicy tang that you look for when you order hot and sour soup. The potstickers were fried crispy, but the dough was a little too thick. The spicy cucumbers had no flavor to them at all. And the honey walnut shrimp was not memorable. We both felt that the two best dishes were the BBQ pork fried rice and the Mongolian beef. The beef was tender and had good flavor. The prices were extremely fair and the portions were large, but all in all this was not my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area.

Pipo Ramen and Rice…read more I've been wanting to try Pipo Ramen and Rice since 2023, when it was ranked #11 on Yelp's list of places to eat in the Sacramento area. I've driven past this spot countless times but somehow never made it in, until now! I stopped by on a Saturday before noon, and the restaurant was pretty quiet, with only a few tables occupied. The interior is modern, clean, and well kept, making it a nice spot for a casual meal. After looking over the menu, we decided on the Pad Thai with Shrimp (medium heat) and Panang Curry with Chicken (medium heat). While ordering, our server also recommended the Pipo Salad, essentially their take on papaya salad. They offer it Lao or Thai style, and we went with the Thai style with mild heat. Once the food came out, the first thing I noticed was the portion sizes, everything was much bigger than I expected, especially considering the reasonable prices. These are definitely portions that are easy to share family-style. The Pipo Salad had tons of flavor, and I really enjoyed being able to taste the vinegar and fish sauce. One thing to note, though: I ordered it mild, but this ended up being the spiciest dish on the table! I'd say the heat was closer to a medium, while the Pad Thai and curry were much milder. The Pad Thai was solid. The noodles were cooked perfectly, and the flavor was there. The Panang Curry was good, although I personally wished both the Pad Thai and curry had a little more heat. Luckily, our server brought out some condiments, including Thai pepper fish sauce, which was excellent with the curry and gave it the extra kick I was looking for. Overall, I'd definitely recommend giving Pipo Ramen and Rice a try. The portions are generous, the prices are reasonable, and there's a good variety of dishes I'm looking forward to exploring on my next visit. My only real complaint is that the spice levels seem a little inconsistent. I wanted my Pad Thai and curry to be spicier, but at the same time, I didn't want my mouth completely on fire. Hopefully I can find that perfect balance next time! Would I come back? Absolutely. I've still got plenty of the menu to work my way through!
