I remember coming here over 10 years ago and not having a good impression. That being said I've come here twice already and the food & price is great. The family is really sweet and the person who's taking orders is really nice. They constantly have people in there getting large orders. Highly recommend the dinner & lunch special. Also they can make green beans with black bean sauce 11/10!

This unassuming family owned and operated restaurant is in a new-ish strip mall and well maintained inside with plenty of free parking. We were staying at the Residence Inn next door and needed some take out. They actually make the food when you order so I called ahead and it was about 20 minutes. I ordered chicken chow mein, orange chicken, wings, and egg rolls. Everything was yummy and my family enjoyed it. It was about $60 with tip.

My mind is blown at this extensive menu. Chinese food and sushi, it's like the Cheesecake Factory of Asian food. Had a hard time deciding but there were so many options. 5/5 Crab Rangoons. There's a hint of onion in the cream cheese. So. Freakin. Good. 3/5 crazy roll. It was okay but it's a Chinese restaurant so it's to be expected, I had higher hopes but the sushi rice felt a bit stale but I was still glad to have the sushi option. 3.5/5 beef chow fun. I've been on a hunt for beef chow fun and I've realized I'm extraordinarily picky. There were a lot of veggies I didn't expect (snap peas, mushrooms, carrots, bok choy) and flavor was good, just not quite what I was expecting. 3.5/5 Dinner combo with kung pao chicken. The portions are really big and it came with sweet and sour pork, an egg roll, fried rice and chow mein. For $16 it was a great deal and tons of food leftover. Service was good and food came out incredibly fast. I couldn't stop marveling over the extensive menu and wonder how they could possibly be able to serve so much variety every night. I think most people grab it to go but warning that the acoustics in here are something else lol. I felt like I was in the kitchen at my families house. I didn't mind it since it felt homey but if you're not wanting that vibe I'd do take out or sit farther in the back. All in all it was solid but not necessarily something I'd go out of my to get on the regular aside from the crab rangoons, but full disclosure aside from beef chow fun I don't really crave Chinese food so don't eat it very often as is.

We ordered office lunch from Good Friends today. All seven of us thought the food was okay with one person saying it was good. Good Friends is reasonably priced and has good portions. The dinner combo comes with fried rice, veggie chow mein, egg roll, soup, sweet and sour pork and plus your choice of entree for $14! That is a lot of food for $14 but the quality was poor. Honestly I would say the Thursday $8 special at Bel Air Supermarket tasted better. If you want a lot of food for a little bit of money Good Friends is a good choice.

They're open on Christmas! A great find, I feel like there aren't many Chinese places open on Christmas, but good friends is! Also, they have many gluten free options which is great since my wife is allergic to gluten. They were easy to order from and got everything right. The food was very good and will most likely come back next year! They have an extensive menu and would love to try some other dishes

I work across the way from this place so when I'm in office I always make sure to stop by for lunch or get dinner in the way home. Tonight i picked up dinner. I called my order in at lunch, and it was just finishing as I walked in. Prices are fair, the portions are big, and food is delicious! I'm a huge fan of their salt and pepper chicken. It's deep fried in good sized chunks, with peppers and onions. The chicken could be a little bigger but the flavor is right on point. We tried the broccoli beef for the first time. I like how they pack it in a hard plastic container so it doesn't leak out of the other containers. No complaints on this dish. Usually you find your self looking for beef through all the broccoli but not here! The pork fried rice and pork chow mein are spot on. The crab Rangoon were pretty good, my kids grade every Chinese restaurant based on these. Today they give a 4 star!

Some type of larvae in Wonton Soup
    Zachary S.

I usually order takeout from this restaurant and enjoy the food as the quality is generally really good! Ordered takeout last night and found some type of bug larvae in the Wonton Soup. Was extremely disgusted when I found it as that was going to be my next bite. I would generally be "okay" if it was like a gnat that accidentally flew in the food but larvae?? No thanks.

Lychee boba smoothie (special) $4.50 was tasty.

The red curry was really good imo but my husband said it could have been thicker and more flavorful. The pad thai was decently spicy for a medium rating. Very good flavor and I would say one of the better pad thais you can get in Sacramento. Not overly saucy like in some places. We also ordered the Tum Luang Pra Bang, green papaya salad with fermented fish sauce. I will say, the execution and the quality of ingredients were superb, I personally couldn't get past the flavor, but my mom, a stronger SEA woman, loved it! The staff was very nice and polite. The ambiance was very cute, gave cafe/small restaurant vibes. I have been in the area for awhile and this place has been a revolving door of restaurants. I hope this one sticks!

It's pristinely clean on the inside and servers checked in on us frequently. The wagyu tastes about what you'd expect from an AYCE format: acceptable and enjoyable. The A5 brisket outshines the beef slices, which is expected based on appearance alone given the brisket's marbled and fatty appearance. However, the less-tender beef slices come in handy if the goal is quantity over quality; the brisket is only served in several thin slices at a time. I tried the New Zealand lamb for variety's sake which also tasted great. Bonus points for serving onion pancakes as a side dish! It's a childhood delicacy for me, and I don't see this offered at most AYCE hot pot establishments. The soup bases could use some work. Not bad by any means, but both the pork bone and fire spicy soups would benefit from a stronger flavor profile. The fire spicy soup seemed particularly diluted which decreased the overall savoriness of the buffet ingredients. Pros: AYCE wagyu at an affordable price, typical range of buffet ingredients, very clean, attentive servers. Cons: smaller pot sizes, broth flavor could be stronger. Yes to returning.
