Pipo is always a solid place for ramen. Unique ramen with a Thai twist. I like spicy ramen and the tom yum is a perfect bowl. You can ask for certain levels of spiciness so it works for different tastes. There's usually only one or two servers and can take a bit of time but we've gotten used to it because they are nice and helpful. The seafood tom yum ramen is a good mix of everything. Sprouts are already added so it's cooked and incorporated. Scallops, shrimp and mushrooms are part of the mix. The broth is well flavored and spiced to my preference. The shrimp rolls are crispy and fried perfectly every time. I can eat a ton of these. The chicken kaarage is one of my nephews favorite things to order at any ramen place and he enjoyed it. read more

My friend and I stopped in for dinner around 7pm on a weeknight. It wasn't busy at all, so we were seated immediately and had a relaxed, unhurried meal from start to finish. We started with the crispy pork belly, which was a great call. The pork had a nice crunch without being overdone, and the dipping sauce struck a good balance between sweet and tangy. For mains, I had the boat noodle and my friend ordered the chicken pad thai. The broth on the boat noodle was the highlight for me, really well-developed flavor, the kind you don't rush through. I crave Pipo Ramen and Rice all the time, they're a bit out of the way for me but when I'm going to be in the general area I'll go out of my way to stop by. Pipo is a great option if you're not craving anything Vietnamese while in little Saigon. Threy've been open for a few years now, and ive noticed how consistent they've always been. Their pad Thai is my favorite , but their boat noodle is also really good. I really like their drink options and how the owner, Bom is always so eager to let people sample them. The star dish here is the soft shell crab w curry ramen. One might know the taste of the broth and find it hard to place: Being Thai we immediately recognized the curry broth as it is actually a really good Khao Soi broth (from the Chiang Mai region) that usually is served with chicken and a crispy noodle. This version is excellent and my mom who HATES ramen, loved it. The duck was dry as it assume it's air fried, and the fried rice was fairly average with little taste. So glad we gave this place a try! It's definitely a hidden gem. I have visited this place quite a bit but haven't for the last year then decided to stop in. I noticed the staff changed and down restaurant stuff changed. Came here for dinner around 6pm, there were two tables already occupied. They've never been super busy packed really when I visited. Food: This time I tried their beef noodle, kids ramen, fried potstickers. Beef noodle: This had really good flavoring. I wanted a clear broth, or else I would have gotten the boat noodle (but next time). The noodles weren't cooked too much and the meat wasn't dry. The portion looked a lot because of the bowl size but it's perfect. I added dry chili flakes and their Thai pepper with fish sauce but they weren't super spicy, which is what I wanted. Maybe change of staff so some recipes changed? I remember their Thai pepper with fish sauce was super spicy. Kids ramen: Huge portion! It was like a small order of ramen instead. My daughter could only eat 30% of the order but she said it was good! Fried potstickers: Average - the inside filling is okay. Sauce is a sweet dark sauce - okay taste. Oh usually they serve fruit chewy candy at the front register and that was something my daughter and I was looking forward to. So they switched out the candy with different brand green candy - another sign ownership changed? Anyways, I would recommend trying them out for their Thai food. Great ramen find in the area! We arrived and the place was empty with only one other couple there so service was quick and easy. Spring rolls- always a great shareable appetizer and was piping hot and crispy! Soft shell curry ramen- probably one of the most unique and delicious ramens I've had in the sac area! For the first time, Yelp let me down with this restaurant. It's been on my list to try for so long, and I finally had the chance to on a random Monday night. It was an empty restaurant, and the service was terrible. Our waiter never came back to refill our water, he got our order wrong and left out a dish, and he split our check incorrectly. We also didn't enjoy our food. My panang curry had a handful of beef slices, and the rest was carrots. For $17 I expected more. The tonkatsu ramen had a very strong peanut flavor, and it just was not good. We couldn't even eat half of it. The only thing we enjoyed was the pork belly but it came out of the kitchen cold (remember, we were the only table dining in). This place has been on my bookmark list since they opened, and I finally got a chance to check them out for lunch today. Let me tell you......it was so worth the wait! With the weather being a little chilly today, I ordered the boat noodle soup, the crispy chicken fried rice, and of course, the Thai tea. I mean, you have to get Thai tea at a Thai restaurant, it's a must! The space itself is open, inviting, and the decor is cute, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal. As soon as my soup arrived, it smelled amazing! I ordered it at level 2 spiciness (on a scale of 1-5, with 5 being HOT), and that first slurp of noodles and broth was everything I hoped for, it was rich, flavorful, and truly hit the spot. Boat noodle soup can vary so much between places, but I can confidently say Pipo has mastered this dish. I've tried it at other Thai restaurants in the Sacramento area, and hands down, this is the spot for boat noodle soup! It was perfect. I didn't have to ask for a single thing. The Thai chili in fish sauce was brought out at the same time! The crispy chicken was exactly as described, very crispy and delicious. It came with two sauces: one sweet and creamy, and the other a light version of sweet chili sauce. Both sauces complimented the chicken. As for the fried rice, it was perfectly cooked and so tasty. Every bite was delicious. To top it off, the owner asked how our food was, and we happily shared how much we enjoyed our lunch. By the end of our meal, I was in a food coma, that's how satisfying it was. Pipo Ramen & Rice has officially become my new favorite Thai spot in Sacramento, and I can't recommend them enough. I decided to try out Pipo with my friend for a long over due catch up/hangout sesh this week. I've never been in the area before so I was a little confused when I pulled into the parking lot where it was actually located. The area seems a little sketchy but there's plenty of parking and as I was able to get a spot right in the front. The inside is clean, nice, and cutely decorated! I love the bathtub seat when you first walk in. Our server was friendly and attentive and our food came out in a timely manner. I was so happy that my ramen was good because it is really hard to find a place sometimes that has good vegetarian broth. The bowls are HUGE here and you definitely get your moneys worth. I will say though I wish they had smaller bowl options to pick from! All in all, it was a great place with good food and vibes. I will definitely come back again! read more

Until we saw the owner show up right at 11:30 in a Tesla with another worker and they had to unload all the groceries they bought lol. So we got in and sat and waited a little bit til they got situated enough to get our orders going. But service is good and food is good. They added Khao Ka Moo (stewed pork hock) to their offerings!!! I've found it difficult searching for a Thai restaurant in Sac that actually does this dish regularly but Pipo is consistent and so generous with the portions, and that's why I'll keep coming back. The stewed pork hock can be found on their chalkboard a-frame sign as a chef's special. This visit, they came out with a heaping platter of the stewed pork hock over gai lan, a ramekin of vinegar chili sauce and a large sidebowl of rice. It could have easily fed 2 people. I hope they keep it on the menu permanently. They also do a rich tonkatsu ramen - always make sure to add the black garlic. They're also my go-to when I'm craving Pad Thai as they have the option of squid and softshell crab as the protien (I usually do both!) Their boat noodle is solid. Their Lao style Pipo (papaya) salad isn't bad and can be heavy on the crab paste at times but I appreciate that it's never overly sweet and usually satisfies my craving. Thursday, 6/19/2025 - went to have lunch at Pipo Ramen & Rice. Address is 6511 Savings Pl Suit 140 & 145, Sacramento, CA 95828. It's right across from Firehouse Crawfish restaurant. Love that there's plenty of parking here. I ate here before so wanted to try some different dish. Upon arrival.... Pros 1) restaurant was quiet. 2) we just picked any table to sit. No hostess to seat you. 3) they provide a jar of water for the table. Water tasted good. No funky or metal or weird taste. 4) I saw two men working in there. 5) Pipo Tom Yum Seafood noodle is still as good as ever. Soft shell crab pad Thai noodle dish was good, but on the very sweet side. Roti curry was ok. 6) server quiet, but nice. 7) bathroom clean. Cons 1) I did NOT order the Pad Thai noodle dish. I actually ordered the Soft Shell Crab Curry Noodle dish. I did not get that. They offered to take the pad Thai dish back, but we were starving, so ate it. Too hungry to wait another 15 to 20 minutes. 2) I asked for the mushroom on the side for the Tom Yum Noodle Soup dish. They NEVER brought the mushroom on the side for me. My little one doesn't like mushrooms, so I wanted it on the side to eat it after she eats her fill. We always share food. 3) Roti Curry should be thicker so I can dip the bread. The curry was very watery. I guess I'm used to the thick curry at Indian restaurants where you can actually use the bread to dip into the curry and grab the curry with the bread and eat it. This yellow curry at Pipo was very runny. It was more like a soup. So we drank it like a soup. We did try to dip the bread in it. Bread is VERY oily, but good. 4) would have been nice for server to check tables and bring another jar of water when the jar is empty or even if we may want something else or if they missed anything or if we want to order dessert. They never checked back on our table. They came once to bring the menus and water jar, once to take orders, and once to deliver food and that was it. No check up after we got our foods. Would be nice for servers to check back on tables after we get our foods. Conclusion I will have to try different dishes next time I go here. Hopefully they'll get my order right the next time around. There wasn't much people eating here today. I saw like 2 or 3 other table of people. Most tables were empty. So not sure why my orders was messed up. We never got our tab. So i just walked up to the cash register area so they know we were done and ready to pay. I love Thai food and did not expect them to have Thai cuisine because the name of the restaurant, I just assumed ramen. Lao style papaya was fire. Had the perfect umami taste! I loved how it comes with green beans and shrimp! Pad thai chefs kiss! No artificial flavors to it. If you know, pad thai is made with tamarind base. You can definitely taste the tangy sweet base and know it's not powder packet mix nor did it taste like ketchup. Definitely one of the best Thai places in the area! Pad Thai is hands down my favorite noodle dish and I'm always looking for a good Pad Thai. They use the correct noodles, it's not dry or overly saucy, and the flavors are perfect. The spice level can also be adjusted. The crispy pork belly and karaage chicken are also great starters. They have a good mix of Thai and Japanese foods. Can't go wrong with either! I've dined in and also done delivery and the food tastes great every time. PIPO CURRY RAMEN : a rich broth with balanced notes of coconut and curry. The noodles are perfect texture--not too chewy, starchy, thick, or thin! PAD SEE-EW : was VERY salty for me. Portion size was also a bit small, though with how salty the dish was, that wasn't the biggest huge issue for me.
