I love this cafe so much, and it never seems to disappoint. The employees are always so kind to me, and the food is made fresh every day. All of the pastries look incredible, and my favorite is the chocolate chip cookie. They always warm it up for me and it is just incredible! I love their sandwiches and salads, and my only complaint is that they are closed on Sundays. It is a bit pricey, however I believe it's worth it, as it is just like aux delicious except it is less expensive. read more

Getting three starts based on the service and friendliness of the young man in the bakery/cafe and the yummy muffin. He should give tips to the two young ladies who were working in the store front. I came in and wasn't greeted at all. Two workers were engrossed in conversation about a party and I had to interrupt to ask a jewelry question. Two other shoppers came in and weren't greeted either. Yet, a friend of theirs walked in and there were squeals and hugs galore. I am all for employing energetic, fun youngsters, but not at the expense of making my customers feel unwelcome. I headed to Westport to The Post and bought everything I needed there. (And had lovely interaction with the staff!) Some cute items in store, but not worth feeling like I'm annoying or interrupting people when trying to make a purchase. read more

This little shop has a huge variety of beautiful items including candles, purses, scarves, pillows, small furniture and home decor. I loved everything. Great place to pick up a gift for a friend or yourself. I especially liked the snarky little desk signs - Ha. There is a tiny cafe in the back. We didn't eat here but the soup smelled wonderful. read more

Very cute store with a convenient grab and go option close to the train station. The sandwich I had was good, but I felt it was slightly overpriced. However, I'm not from the area and I think the prices are pretty normal for Darien. I thought there were some cute gift ideas in the store, but again, a little pricey. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Prior to this order, I was a loyal customer for 26 years. I looked at their wedding cake book and selected a beautiful naked cake with cascading tiers of berries, small pink confectionery flowers, covered in a delicate dusting of confectioners sugar. I explained that the venue was 1.5 hours away and the wedding was in August. The baker said that was 'no problem', and that they would deliver for an additional cost. I stupidly assumed that it would be in an appropriate professional refrigerated truck. When I found out, 4 days prior to the wedding, that the cake was going to be transported in the back of a SUV, I was very concerned. The baker assured me they 'did this all the time' and it would be fine. It was not!! The cake I received looked nothing like the cake I ordered: it had a small fraction of the berries, and some oddly placed fresh flowers, plus it was titled over. It was just embarrassing. All the guests commented, and many referred to it as the 'leaning tower of cake'. It looked awful in person but, more importantly, in the wedding pictures. Honestly, I think I could have made a better looking cake. To add insult to injury, after the fact, when I complained, the answer I got from both the baker and owner was 'I am sorry you were disappointed', like it was my problem that I expected the cake to look like the one I ordered. A little customer service would have gone a long way here, but I got none. There was no acknowledgement that the cake was not the one I ordered, and no explantation or apology for the poor presentation and tilting. So, I sent a picture of the one I ordered vs the one I got, and still no explanation. The owner finally did acknowledge the tilting, and said she would issue a partial refund, but also never did! read more

We ordered a cake for a first birthday party. We submitted photos of what we wanted. But what we got bore NO resemblance to those examples. The frosting was gritty and not smooth, the cake was grainy and the bottom two layers were compressed into a soggy, dense mess. No one finished the slice they had been offered. I have to rave about this place! I recently ordered a cake from here and it was everything I could expect and more. The pastry chef went out of her way to make sure it looked exactly what I asked for and made sure to accommodate me with all of my needs. The taste was also something to do die for. It's a cute retail store! I just wish the staff would be more friendly. Why are sales people sometimes arrogant and impolite? At my first time shopping there I spend over $100 dollars for an ordinary straw bag. I left with a lovely item but I don't feel I wanted to shop there again. read more

My favorite food spot in Darien. They have great sandwiches here (including a good array of vegetarian options) using top quality ingredients. Also the baked goods are great. I recommend the carrot cake miniature cupcakes they have from time to time. read more

The rehearsal dinner was made so beautifully simple because of Browne and co. They handled everything from the linens/tables to the food. Diane's knowledge was showcased throughout it all and she was there for every step. Her staff was just overall amazing; they were punctual, professional and kind. We did a buffet style dinner and had ample menu options to choose from; she gave guidance for food pairings, which was extremely helpful for decision making. The food was to die for. My relatives were blown away by how everything tasted and the beautiful manner it was served... which we took credit for (thanks for the suggestions, Diane!), I need to give major thanks to the true genius behind it all. 10/10 best salmon I've ever had. read more

It took me about 6 months of living in Darien to find this place, the cafe is tucked behind a retail shop on the Post Road. Their takeout salads are tasty and fresh - the pear and arugula and strawberry goat cheese are my favorite. But you need to get there early if you want a particular type since they tend to sell out. They also offer a limited selection of gluten free baked goods which is always a plus in my book! Also a plus is the guys working behind the counter are friendly and helpful with questions about the food served there. read more

Had some time to kill between appointments over at Lanphier and stopped here for a bite to eat. This place is waaaay more than just that though! For starters, it's a cute retail shop with all kinds of unique items from home decor to stationary to hard-to-find baby items! You walk up to the counter to order or you pick something already made. I had lemon spinach & artichoke soup and the maple turkey sandwich. The soup was vegan and it was really tasty... such a unique blend of flavors but it really worked! The sandwich I chose, because the maple turkey appealed. There was a lot turkey in this sandwich and it also had a really nice cranberry jam maybe? I can't eat cheese though and every single sandwich or food item seemed to have cheese (other than the soups). For the cheese issue, I cannot give them a fifth star. I think it's reasonable to offer a few cheese-less items or have the ability to make a fresh sandwich with no cheese. But alas, that was not the case. The reason they don't make sandwiches to order is that the kitchen is occupied during the day for their catering side of the house. So, I guess I can't fault them for that. Anyhow, the staff were quite nice and even let me sample both soups to decide. The girls at the front desk over at Lanphier had told me that I could call Browne & Co.'s number to get the soup of the day recording... That's how I ended up choosing this place. That's sheer genius!! After filling my belly, I did a little shopping in their store and bought a teething necklace for my sister to wear with her baby - also sheer genius! This place is top notch! I would just like some cheese-less offerings maybe in the sammy department - or better yet, a small bowl of tuna or chicken salad over a bed of spinach. No bread and no cheese is win-win! read more

What an amazing job Diane did catering my daughter's wedding this past weekend. The food was absolutely delicious from the cocktail hour with the raw bar to desert time with the ice cream sundae bar. Diane and her staff did a great job setting up everything, the tables and the venue were so beautiful. We also ate a great lunch at her café a couple days before the wedding. Never had bad food or coffee here. Staff is friendly. They also have a great gift shop in the front. A little pricey for certain things but still fun to look at. This place is a haven for me. read more
