I had lost my mailbox key, and my landlord management co was dragging their feet in getting me a replacement. I finally decided it was worth the money to get a replacement key. I called Good Lock around 3 PM, made an appointment for 7 PM. Eric, my locksmith, called to let me know when he was on the way, and again when he arrived. He was very casual and friendly. I just waited in my apartment while he installed a new mailbox lock, which took maybe 20-30 minutes. He did a great job and the keys work nicely. In addition, he gave me a good discount even though he could have easily charged me a late-night service fee and full price. I really appreciated him coming out. THANK YOU for helping me get my mail. Just a warning for anyone considering this company through the Amazon Local web offer. The guy will not do what the Amazon Local offer/purchase advertises. I called before I purchased to be sure the work I needed (four re-keys) was covered. He asked where I was, and then told me Redondo Beach was too far away. The ad says 20-mile radius of 90035, and Redondo is well within that distance. He then called me back and said he would do it for $120. The Amazon coupon cost $70 and had $140 in value. He wanted another $50 from me beyond the purchase of the Amazon coupon to do what the coupon and ad said should have been covered. I do not know if he does good work, but a bait an switch at the beginning is not a good way to start. WATCH OUT!!! Update : This guy has now called me back twice and asked me why I gave him a negative review when I did not use his service. i want to be very clear - I am not criticizing his service, just his approach to pricing. He argued with me about the distance from 90035 to 90278. Google maps puts it at under 15 miles [30 min (14.7 mi) via S La Cienega Blvd and I-405] The Amazon Local ad states: Distance restrictions apply. Service area includes 20-mile radius of 90035; merchant will not travel outside of service area. He insisted on arguing with me about my posting and how wrong I was, so I hung up on him. He called me back again. I had to hang up on him a second time when he insisted on continuing the argument. He may very well be a great locksmith. All the reviews say he is and that is why I was interested in doing business with him. My rating is about the way he prices his work, the way he advertises his work, the way he does business and now the way he keeps calling me back to argue with me about the rating and mileage. WATCH OUT - Frankly, this is all a bit frightening. I never gave him my telephone number, and assume he was able to call me back three times because of a service feature on his phone. read more

I had one of my technicians on a property performing work, the key he used to gain access broke and we called out Good Lock to fix it. After arriving late and unprepared, they made my technician wait 4 hours to finally complete the job. I had to pay him to sit and wait for that time. Today, the owner of that property called my company and explained that the lock that was replaced by this company was NOT WORKING. The lock that took 4 hours and $200.00 to fix was BROKEN and they needed to have us fix it AGAIN. I called Tal, the owner of this company, and he got out there to fix the lock that should have been working properly in the first place. The owner of the property asked Tal why his technician did not fix the lock to match the key that was originally on the lock, to which he did not have an answer. Tal then re-keys the broken lock, which should have been done in the first place for the $200.00 I spent on it. Now I recieved ANOTHER invoice for work that should have already been done. This company is absolutely rediculous and I recommend that you do not use them for commercial business. It is great that they are courteous and kind on the other reviews here, but this is soooo unprofessional. From one company to another, shame on you Good Lock. read more

Thanks to the great Yelpers here, I called Tal on a Friday and asked for a quote to replace door lock, lever and handle. He called me back with a very reasonable quote after I sent him the photos of my current lock setup and the items I needed his help to install. He went out of his way to accommodate my schedule and came the very next day at 8am sharp and was done in little more than an hour. If you are into home automation and needs to install one of those "smart" deadbolt lock, Tal is you guy! He knows the Schlage product very well and is professional from beginning to the end. Got locked out of my apartment stupidly and couldn't get a hold of my roommates, so I decided to give Good Lock a call. I did have to wait for quite a while, considering the time of evening, but Manny, the technician, gave me a call while he was on his way to let me know that traffic was bad (go figure, LA) and about how long it would take for him to get there. Chilled in my car watching a movie on my phone until his arrival, and then it was ten minutes max for him to get in and out of there, including the time it took for payment. Manny was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. I couldn't have asked for more in terms of both expertise and customer service.
