Unfortunately, when I went in yesterday to pick up more, the last box had just been sold. I was told that, Audrey, the talented lady who puts them together was coming in this morning and it might be on her agenda to make more I called first thing when the store opened and talked to a really wonderful young man who told me they would do their very best, if possible, to get some to me before my tea began. At 11AM my phone rang and it was Erica who told me that Audrey had made the chocolate -dipped strawberries. I could not believe it!!! Talk about GREAT customer service! My husband drove down, bought them and drove them back before the ladies started arriving for tea. Those super-fresh chocolate-dipped strawberries were the absolute hit of the tea, and everyone was both impressed and delighted by how kind the folks at Harry & David were. Asked repeatedly to be transferred to a human, was put on hold for 14 minutes, then mysteriously sent to a survey never having spoken to a human being, and then it disconnected in the middle of the survey. And yet, their website says, "Our Guarantee: You and those who receive your gifts must be delighted, or we'll make it right with either an appropriate replacement or refund. Always." Harry and David, DO BETTER! Pathetic.

Numerous guests commented on the quality, and most were left uneaten on the tables. After the event, I contacted the owner to discuss my concerns. He asked for time to investigate and stated that he would call me back after speaking with his staff. That call never came, and I ultimately had to contact the bakery again a week later. What followed was extremely disappointing. Rather than acknowledging my concerns or considering that something may have gone wrong with that particular order, the owner repeatedly insisted that the cupcakes could not have been dry because they had been made fresh. My experience, as well as the experience of my guests, was dismissed rather than acknowledged. I was not demanding anything. I simply wanted to discuss a product that failed to meet expectations and hear how the bakery intended to address the situation. Instead, the conversation became confrontational. The owner focused on defending the product rather than understanding the customer's concerns. He made comments about my guests that I found inappropriate and repeatedly implied that my account of what occurred was not credible. At one point, he even stated that he did not understand why anyone would pay $3.50 for a cupcake, despite that being the price his bakery charges. While the owner ultimately issued a refund, the refund does not change the fact that the customer service experience was deeply disappointing. Everyone makes mistakes. Products occasionally miss the mark. What matters is how a business responds when concerns are raised. I also offered to give the bakery another chance and stated that I would be willing to come back and try their products again in case this was simply a one-time issue. The owner responded by telling me that I was no longer welcome in the bakery. That response alone speaks volumes. Based on both the quality of my order and the way this matter was handled, I cannot recommend this bakery.
