Can't speak on the food cuz I didn't have it myself but from what I heard from my group, it's good. Drinks and bartenders on a whole nother level. Def noticed that they're more creative with their drinks so you won't find them anywhere else. Got a pepino of all things which I wasn't expecting from a modern American food spot and somehow they managed to elevate it from the usual. Had my reservations before coming to this place because of what preceded before (Beast and Bounty) but this place has finally done the location justice Definitely a place that's date worthy or even for the established couples :)

I went on Mother's Day with a group of 10. We had reservations and were seated right on time. While the restaurant was very busy, the service was great. We ordered off the special brunch menu and all enjoyed our food. As a Diet Coke drinker, I want to note that their soda comes in a can.

First time here. I went with a couple of friends. We got a pizza, bolognese pasta and a cheese burger. I wish there was more flavor and minced meat in the past but over all really good. We had a couple of drinks...and then a couple more. Service was quick and friendly. I loved the restaurant vibes. Will definitely be returning.

I was hesitant to go here as I had had a lukewarm experience with beast and bounty, but had heard good things from bartender friends. The bartenders were accommodating, well-versed in cocktails, and the ambience was lovely. Would definitely go back for drinks. Should probably try the food while I am at it.

I've been so excited to visit Good Neighbor, I've been keeping track of their instagram posts and everything has looked so delicious. This area is always very busy and finding parking can be hit or miss, but if you loop around or head onto some of the side streets you should be able to find something (usually paid parking) within walking distance. When I arrived on a Friday evening there was an hour wait for a table for two, we took a short walk over to Midtown Spirits for a drink while we waited for a text to let us know our table was ready. The texting system they have set up makes it really convenient, especially if you don't want to wait right in front of the restaurant. We ended up with a cute table for two and noticed they have blocks on the table to alert the team if you need service or the check- no one mentioned them as we were seated, so we weren't sure if we'd need to use them from the start or not. We ended up chatting and eventually a server came to introduce themself and take our drink orders. They were pretty busy, so service was on the slower side. We could tell they were hustling and weren't sure if pressing our table button would slow them down or if it's what they preferred. We ended up waiting patiently and when our drinks came we were able to order food. Our main courses took quite some time, we thought they may have forgotten us. We stayed patient though and right before we were going to check in they were brought out to us. We ended up having the English Pea Arancini ($12) as an appetizer, with three pieces they were a perfect starter and were very flavorful. I ordered the Good Burger ($22) it's a 1/2lb burger that has cheddar, pickles, lettuce, onions, sauce and a generous portion of tallow fries. The burger was tasty and I liked that the onions were grilled. It had house made pickles that were more tangy. I ended up taking half of the burger and most of the fries home because it was pretty filling. Although the fries would be perfect for sharing with dining companions and are best fresh. The person I was with ordered the Hanger Steak Salad ($34) and it was beautifully plated and perfectly cooked to her requested medium rare. The portion was also generous and she ended up having leftovers. We utilized the signal box on our table to let our server know when we were ready to pay and boxed up leftovers. I would definitely go back, but would try to plan for a slower night or time.

Mushroom pizza

Happy hour ends at 5 so we missed that. Mushroom pizza had good flavor but the texture was very floppy. The fritto misto had great texture and batter but exemplified interesting decision making in what to fry. We found onion skins, olives, shrimps, and calamari all jumbled and stuck together like they were clumped together in the fryer. Made for an interesting grab bag. I would say overall the food is good but the prices do not reflect just good food. The service was decent. Everyone was polite and attentive. The ambiance inside was great! Nice decor and good vibes. We sat outside on the patio which had nice bench seating and good for people watching.

Italian sodas, refresh mocktail
Angelica R.

I really wanted to like this restaurant but was so disappointed. Best thing of the night was probably my drink. I got the refresh and it was delicious! My friends ordered different Italian sodas and weren't a fan- they weren't expecting how sweet and creamy they would be. Went with my friends for a girls night so we ordered a variety of dishes- sadly all of them were missing salt and missed the mark other than the pasta (ragú). The fritto misto- such high hopes. Loved the lemon and the crispy tempura coating but needed to add our own salt because it was sort of flavorless. The aioli it came with was good. The fries- sad fries that were probably sitting for a while. Skip. Cesar salad and the good neighbor chop- the lettuce seemed out of a bag for some reason and once again, both needed more flavor. Love the idea of the chop and it could probably be delicious but missed the mark. Ragú pasta- yes. Order this. Delicious. Good portion. Flavortown. Service- we felt we were being rushed the whole time. Our server kept asking if we were done and offering boxes and wanting to take our plates away even though we were still eating and drinking. This was almost from the start. We noticed there were plenty of tables open and we weren't then for longer than an hour. Really disappointed. Overall- beautiful location.

Beautiful bar

My family and I checked out Good Neighbor last night for dinner which is located in The Ice Blocks where Beast and Bounty used to be. The interior was beautiful - yellows, blues and greens that set the mood and the gorgeous bar was the focal point of the whole restaurant. For drinks, we ordered the Good Neighbor Old Fashioned, Freezer Martini and the Lemonade. My husband liked the Old Fashioned and said it was different in a good way, the Freezer Martini was just okay and the Lemonade was the sourest thing I've ever had in my life - it was straight lemon juice and water - we had to ask from them to sweeten it up twice just so that my daughter could actually enjoy it. For food, my daughter ordered the Kids Cheese Pizza and we started with Grandma's Meatballs. My daughter liked her pizza and we thought the meatballs were good - they had a nice flavor, but were nothing special. For our entree, my husband and I ordered the Steak Frites to share - while the plate looked beautiful, the plate didn't actually hit. The steak was tough because it was sliced across the grain (IYKYK) and it was also cooked medium rare, which is fine, but we were never asked how we wanted it cooked. The sauce on the plate was also very salty - it was too much for my husband and while the fries were fresh (I think) and cooked in beef talon, they weren't anything special either. Overall, I am giving them 4 stars because the service was spot on - shout out to Brenda who took great care of us! Based off of the food, I don't think we'll come back - maybe for drinks though if we're in the area.

Excellent menu with diverse options. Really great service by people who genuinely try to go above and beyond. Had a nice Thursday evening dinner here with the fam. We ordered a pizza, salad, a burger and even an appetizer. All our food was delicious. The standout here was their pizza and also the mushroom arancini. Sitting on the patio made for a beautiful evening. They played old school R&B music at a level that was really smooth. Didn't try any alcohol but their drinks menu was appealing. Highly recommend trying out this Ice Blocks standout.

Summer refresh-- peach caprese floating in burrata.
Bonnie C.

Been wanting to try this Ice Blocks spot... didnt disappoint. My daughter & I split the steak frites rare-- melted in your mouth. She insisted we start with Pave fries even tho we had fries with entre. These are the most delicious fried potatoes ever!!! Think flakey croissant. Peach caprese was lovely complement

Good Neighbor Chop Salad
Jason N.

Overall? Tight menu, but they execute. The space works with a mix of indoor and outdoor seating that feels easy and comfortable. Ingredient selection is thoughtful, and the meat quality stands out right away. This is a place that knows its lane and stays in it. I'd come back without hesitation Parking? Street and lot options. Can get busy We had: Good Neighbor Chop Salad (5/5): This was what a composed salad should be. It ate like a real dish, not a side project. Creamy avocado, sweet dates, tangy goat cheese, and a pear vinaigrette brought everything together without drowning it. The cornbread croutons stole the show. Crisp, buttery, and loaded with flavor, they added the texture most salads are missing. The meat was cooked properly and gave that subtle reminder this place understands BBQ Steak Frites (5/5): Straightforward, done right. The hanger steak was cooked with precision, with a proper sear and clean beef flavor that didn't need to hide behind sauce. You could tell they respected the product. The peppercorn sauce supported without taking over, and the fries were crisp with just enough softness inside to keep things balanced. It was simple food executed at a high level, which is exactly why it worked

Spinach Artichoke Dip with Toasted Bread
Silvia S.

We happened to be in the neighbor and decided to try Good Neighbor. It was delicious we started with the spinach artichoke dip came with focaccia toasted bread and the English Pea Arancini OMG I had never had Arancini it was so delicious!!!! We shared the 1/2 pound award winning cheeseburger with fries, and a spring chopped salad with grilled chicken. Our server was great and helpful in helping us to decide on our selections. The music playing was great Old School. The place was clean. Bathrooms are clean. Parking was a bit of a bear but we managed to find a spot in a parking lot next to it. We paid for 2 hours and it came out to $6.35. Would I return most definitely! It was well worth it. Next time maybe we can also try a dessert. We were just to full.

Brunch menu
Blanche M.

Nice and trendy restaurant, visited for brunch. It was nice that they gave you an option to sit indoor or out, we chose indoor. Quick service, and they have a button where you can switch a light to service and pay. We ordered their Caesar salad, tallow fries, breakfast pizza, and their cinnamon roll waffle. Our favorite was the waffle. I personally couldn't taste the tallow in their tallow fries, and I wished their breakfast pizza had a standard of adding eggs to it instead of it being extra. Food was good, but not out of this world. If within the area, definitely would like that waffle again.

We ordered a pairing of their best selling green curry ceviche complimented by a Riesling. we also ordered the Thai beef tartare. Ok, at first bite of the tartare... FLAVOR! It was so delicious and paired well with the Riesling. The green curry ceviche was refreshing crunchy and zesty. The beef tartare is the best in the Sacramento area hands down. This hidden gem offers an experience that's unlike anything else in the city. The setup is simple but charming: you literally walk up to a window and order your wine. I believe it's one ring for white, two for red, and three or four for sparkling--don't quote me on that, but it adds a playful, old-world vibe that makes the whole experience memorable. The Wine Window is affordable, laid-back, and surprisingly quaint. It's the kind of place where the ambiance, the people, and the energy make it feel more like an experience within an experience--not just a drink stop. I had the chance to chat with John, the owner, who shared a bit of the backstory. He previously owned a full wine room nearby, but when the pandemic hit, he had to pivot. Instead of calling it quits, he leaned into a smaller, more intimate concept inspired by wine windows in Europe. Honestly, I think the scale makes it even better. The outdoor patio is perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine while people-watching on L Street, and yes, there's even a restroom available (a rare but very appreciated amenity for this type of setup). If you find yourself downtown, do yourself a favor--swing by The Wine Window, have a chat with John, and enjoy a unique Sacramento experience.
