They blend in quite well with the neighborhood, and are located across the street from one of my favorite Thai restaurants. As soon as we came in service was so kind and made us feel welcome. The staff (Bella and Alexa) were so kind to us the entire time, and when we left they even suggested we come to their events since we loved the food so much. Yes and yes!! We ordered a pairing of their best selling green curry ceviche complimented by a Riesling. we also ordered the Thai beef tartare. Ok, at first bite of the tartare... FLAVOR! It was so delicious and paired well with the Riesling. The green curry ceviche was refreshing crunchy and zesty. The beef tartare is the best in the Sacramento area hands down. We sat outdoors, and we saw that it would make a great space for intimate gatherings. I reckon as the weather gets warmer I may opt for indoor seating, but this option is definitely worth coming back for. I couldn't recommend this place any more. The lamb meatballs were a standout -- perfectly seasoned and tender -- and the chorizo mac and cheese was rich and satisfying with just the right kick. Definitely order both. For dessert, the affogato was a nice treat, and the panna cotta was good but could use a stronger coffee flavor to really take it to the next level. The outdoor seating was a genuine highlight. I ordered the Chorizo Sando and it was scrumptious. It consisted of a chorizo patty with egg, cheese, and aioli in the center of a biscuit. The biscuit was very flaky and buttery which complimented the ingredients well. The size and portion was small for the price as it cost $11. The carrot tea was interesting as it tasted like an herbal tea with a very slight hint of carrot flavor. Service was excellent as the employee was friendly. There are is a huge selection of wine in the racks on the walls. The building is of an older construction with tall vaulted ceilings with a center ridge beam which provided a very homey feeling unlike many businesses that feature modern/industrialized construction. I visited Betty in the morning. I wanted to try the Shakshuka, but they didn't have it the morning I visited. We ended up with the Chorizo Biscuit Sando and Carrot Tea Latte. The flavor of the latte was good, nice balance of sweetness with the spices; I enjoyed it. The Sando was tiny, but the flavor was great as well. Service wasn't very attentive, despite it being very slow. They left soon after explaining we order at the counter, and it took a long time for them to return to the counter so I could order. Later, I heard the cook saying "order" (meaning the order was out) a couple times, before it was noticed and brought to our table. This cozy and casual wine bar feels sophisticated enough for date night, but is unpretentious and charming, serving coffee and pastries, small plates and savory snacks, non-alcoholic drinks and wine. Just a quick update to my prior review: (1) There is no longer a retail discount. All bottles have a single price and the price is the same regardless of whether you are drinking it in-house or taking it to go; (2) The markup on bottles is pushing 60-70% now vs. 30% just a few months prior. As an example, bottles that you can find easily for $50 will cost you $80+ at Betty. The markups are super disappointing and although the selection remains one of the best in the area, we may visit less frequently as a result. Shared some salad and bread and it filled us up perfectly without it being overdone. We weren't too hungry that day but wanted something to get us through the night. You pay at the counter. This wine bar is absolutely adorable, big windows for beautiful natural light in the day and a romantic atmosphere at night. The bacon is a nice thick cut and the eggs are perfectly poached with a side of greens and focaccia. I cannot ask for a more perfect breakfast for me. Candy G latte is housemade and it pairs well with the espresso here. This is the place I bring all my friends to impress them for quality breakfast and coffee/espresso drinks. I do want to warn you though, they don't have decaf and the cafe drinks are strong. Definitely for the coffee lovers and not the sweet tooth that expects a dessert type of coffee. The focaccia is light, crispy, buttery, and I could enjoy this just on its own. My sandwich was layered with olive tapenade, a trio of meats, and a light cheddar. Each bite is pure bliss. It's a wonderful taste of NOLA, but on a grander scale. It's a perfect blend of flavors. The drinks ( sodas) are made in house, and this is genius ! It was my moral imperative to order the orange vanilla cream Italian soda. You want this! You need this! This is by every account a spectacular drink. The cream on top will leave the fun cream mustache on your upper lip, and you will just want to dive into the glass, trying to get every last taste. The orange and the cream are what dreams are made of. I'm so excited about being able to go back and try their brunch and dinner menu! This is a place where you go to dine and enjoy the moments. Betty definitely has that small neighborhood restaurant vibe that just happens to specialize in wine - by the glass as well as bottle sales. With its brick interior and high ceilings, the rustic interior tends to get very loud. At one point, I couldn't hear my friend across from me. You order at the counter and then take a seat. The menu has food on the left, wine on the right and then suggestions to pair one with the other at a reduced price. Very clever idea! I ended up getting the green curry ceviche ($15) with tender fish, hint of citrus and creamy coconut sauce. I paired it with a light Sonoma red blend ($15) even though the off-dry Riesling came recommended. I like to be a rebel. My friend got the beet salad ($15) - beautiful presentation but she was hoping there would be a few more beets. Don't get me wrong, I will return. That maitake mushroom casarecce ($23) is calling my name. Maybe coming earlier or wearing concert earplugs (ha ha) will help with the noise level.
