If you love sellands, you would love this place as I think it is an upgrade The mac & cheese is the best I've ever had. You definitely have to get it when you come in!!! The focaccia was also great and the pizza was very good. This was a seasonal pizza, lemon ricotta, basil, and we added chicken on top. The dough and crust was really good. Unfortunately, we saw the pizza come out, but they told us it wasn't for us as they were looking for a different table number. We waited on the pizza walked around for another 15 minutes until it came back to us because apparently the different table number was incorrectly coded. (It was ours all along) That was frustrating. I've passed by here so many times and always wanted to check it out. It looks cool from the outside and when you go in, the vibe kinda changes. Wasn't what I expected. If you haven't been it can be a little difficult to figure out the program. First, you have to look for a menu, but they have a board on the wall where you think you can order but you can't. You have to go to another counter for that. They have amazing looking desserts you pass by to get to the order desk. Then you order your food and get a number. If you want a drink from the bar, you have to then go over there. If it's busy I can see it being kind of a hassle because you'll be in line and better know what you want. You have to pay for drinks separately. Then you have to find a place to sit and they'll find you with your order. Oh, you have to go to the self serve bin for silverware too, where undoubtedly lots of pet have put their grubby hands in the bin to get theirs. They offer water out of a pitcher that you have to fill your cup with as well. I'd rather get it out of an enclosed dispenser. Maybe I'm paranoid but I'm uncomfortable about what could possibly be done by someone with not so good intentions. Anyway, I ordered the Italian beef sandwich and my buddy ordered the meatball sandwich. We split them so we could both try it. It was mediocre at best. I've been on a hunt for good Italian beef and this one didn't hit. The meatball sando was a little better but both weee super dry, even with the au jus I got. Meat was a little tough. So, bottom line is that I tried it, it wasn't great, but the pizza looked good that I saw others order. I'm not down for the order process but that's probably just me. Celebrated my nephew's graduation at OBO's Italian Restaurant last week! It's a great lunch spot with plenty of parking and no reservations needed. The interior is bright, spacious, and minimalist in the best way, and the staff are nice. Note: water & utensils, are self serve. We ordered the salad, pizza, meatball pasta, and short rib pasta. While the meatball pasta was a bit too acidic, the rib pasta was rich, filling, and delicious. Definitely save room for dessert, the banana pudding was incredible! Highly recommend. read more

Adj: Tasty and Freshly made Sandwiches and Sides Attended an event that had OBO' Italian catered lunches and besides the vegetarian item, the choices were turkey avocado sandwich or an Italian sandwich and I chose the former. It was quite loaded with good turkey meat and lots of avocado. I liked the use of arugula although it's not a popular veggie amongst most. I also like the pepperoncini which some might pick out. The bread was pretty solid too, but not for the faint of carbs... Shall we jump over the salad straight to the dessert? The cookie was quite delish so that I forgot to let my camera take a bite before I took a chunk off and popped that into my mouth. It's got the chewiness, but also a bit of crunch around the edges. But what really surprised me was how good the chickpea / Garbanzo bean salad was! It was light, refreshing and flavorful, I forgot to get a picture. In any case, the whole meal was tasty and the sandwich was hefty so even half was too much at one sitting. Since it was a catered event, I can't comment on the service, but the presentation was good on the tables and the packaging of each box was careful and thoughtful. Overall, OBO' did a great job. We came here for an early dinner and ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese, OBO Combination pizza, mac n cheese, and the Devil's Food Cake. The rigatoni is smothered in rich, savory bolognese made with beef and pork, and topped with fresh herbs. The OBO Combination pizza was made with tomato sauce, mozzarella, salami, pepperoni, sausage, peppers, onions, mushrooms, olives, and parmesan. Everything we ordered was delicious. However, I originally ordered the tiramisu at the cashier, and when the waiter brought our food to the table, they informed me that the tiramisu had sold out. So I chose the chocolate cake instead, which I personally didn't enjoy as much. I hope they can improve communication around sold-out items in the future. We came to OBO on a Saturday evening. It was surprising how difficult parking was, the parking lot across the street was packed! I actually quite dig OBO as a concept. The checkout reminds me of IKEA food court, line up and order, and they'll bring your food to you. Self service for utensils, water, etc. We had two of the pizzas, one of which was the combo pizza. Crust was soft but still held shape, and toppings had good taste. For the pastas, we had the Rigatoni Bolognese. I would give it a 4/5, slightly al-dente and quite nice. My boyfriend and I were in the area for work and decided to stop by OBO'. There are 2 small paid parking lots across the street. We stayed there for about an hour and paid $4. Ordering was easy and straight forward! I got their chicken fettuccine alfredo and appreciated how creamy the sauce was. I added a little cracked pepper and chili flakes and it was even more tasty than before! My boyfriend ordered a cold sandwich and was also very impressed with his dish! In his case, he declined a side of fries with his meal but I love how a side dish is even a possibility with their sandwiches! Well 1 Sunday afternoon our Lunch Group decided to come to OBO's and we were like, yeah sure we havent been here before and my wife and I are always up for eating at places we have never eaten at before. So we walked in and let me tell you the place was clean, it was very well organized. The menu was very understandable and the food that was in the display was also very good to look at. So as we approached the counter to put in our orders we had decided that I was going to get the classic Spaghetti and Meatballs and my wife had Salmon. We ordered Sparkling Water to drink and so glad we did because the whole bottle was JUST enough for the 2 of us to share. So glad that I ordered the Spaghetti and Meatballs because I didnt order the regular Spaghetti noodles I actually ordered Rotini noodles and let me tell you it was absolutely delicious. I stepped away from the group to go and talk to 1 of the employees since this was our first time being here I just wanted to find out about the way this place does business. He then began explaining to me that while ordering from the menu is an option, we also have an option to order from the display case. Now let me tell you about what was in the display case. There was some Shrimp and Spaghetti, some fruit, other pastas and there was also potato salad that you could order as well. He also explained that you could get any of those entrees, (A total of 3) for $17 something for this huge plate that he also pointed at in the display case. My Spaghetti and Meatballs was delicious but the next time I come to OBO's I'm going to order from the display case because that food looked absolutely delicious as well. I'm very Thankful that I got an opportunity to talk to this employee because he gave me a great understanding to how the company does business and what options customers have access to. Thanks OBO for a great experience, wonderful food and a beautiful place to visit and eat at. I do like the market deli style ambience of Obo. It's a very congenial lace to meet with friends for delicious Italian food in an informal and open dining sort of atmosphere. I recommend going during off-peak popular mealtimes if you don't want to struggle to find a place to sit if you're going with a larger number of people. You order food at the counter, pay, and then take your number on a stick to your seating area. There are large indoor picnic style tables and round tables indoors, plus more seating outside that's dog-friendly. (The outside tables have heaters operating to keep the chill off in the events, currently.) A couple of my friends picked the spaghetti and meatballs dinner option, whilst another had a deli sandwich. I chose the Lemon Parmesan baked chicken thighs combo with my choice of 2 hot sides. The Mac and cheese and roasted Brussels sprouts were my selection choices. My gosh, there was so much food in my order that I only was able to eat half of it. I asked for a leftovers box to pack the remainder to take home. My friends all agreed that their food tasted very good! The servers here delivered the food pretty quickly. I've been here many times, it's a go to when I'm in the East Sac area so I was surprised I've never written a review. It's a popular place, order at the counter and they bring it out to you. They have a lot of ready to serve entrees plus things that are cooked to order. Everything is fresh and I don't think I've ever had a bad meal. There is a private parking lot next door which makes it a lot easier to visit. I rarely have trouble finding a spot there. The last time I went on a Sunday evening I was surprised how packed it was. I got the last table and held it for my three friends so we could all take turns to order. It was pretty loud in there but family friendly and festive. I had meatballs and a side of butternut squash. Both were good. One thing I would say though is that serving the side of the meatballs in a bowl makes it hard to eat them. I would have preferred they put both of my sides on one plate so I could more easily cut and enjoy the meatballs. I've been a loyal customer to Sellands for years and OBO does a great job in terms of service and quality of food. What brings me back to Obo's is not only the amazing food and drink specials during their happy hour but also the ambiance of the restaurant. It's a nice spot to grab a drink and some shareable bites and catch up with friends or go on a date night here. I tried different things here from the margarita pizza, spaghetti and meatballs, and one of my favorites the Negroni Wings (Would highly recommend them bringing that back to the menu). As well as some of their craft cocktails. I would say they do make a good Martini. Overall would highly recommend this place and can say they have kept the quality of food and service consistent over the years. Looking forward to see what else Obo's has to offer! read more

I had the short rib pasta, and it was incredible, rich, creamy, crispy and packed with flavor. The fresh focaccia was also a standout. Warm, soft, and perfect for dipping. Rex Tip: They serve the bread with a small cup of olive oil and balsamic on top. Before digging in, pour the cup onto your plate and give it a quick mix. Otherwise, you'll mostly taste the olive oil sitting on top while the balsamic stays underneath. Mix it together first, then dip the bread for the perfect balance. For dessert, I tried the salted caramel cookie and the oatmeal cookie. Both were fantastic, soft, fresh, and the perfect sweet ending to the meal. The salted caramel cookie was especially hard to stop eating. The space itself is beautiful, bright, and inviting, with plenty of fresh prepared foods, desserts, and grab-and-go options to explore. Chicken Parmesan was well seasoned and had a good, light and crunchy fried crust to it with an excellent cheese pull. Only thing that hurt the sandwich was the Marinara sauce, very thin and not very flavorful outside the tomato. All in all, a solid sandwich, 4.2/5. Fried Chicken Sandwich was a bit different, still well seasoned but not as flavorful. At first, we didnt expect for it to be an order at the front style restraunt but it is pretty convenient. We ordered and about 15 minute wait, we got our food. Also dont forget to get your own utensils and water from the center tray. Theres both plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, parking was slightly limited but doable. The lighting inside makes it feel warm but they usually blast the ac inside which is nice. The meatball was just that, a ball of meat. No seasoning, no nothing. The salad dressing had more flavor than the meatball.
