Really fun place except for one of the staff. You'll see him, guy who is late 30s with blonde tips pretending he's still in his early 20s. Came here twice this week and he was nothing but rude; too worried about how his hair looked and flirting with the girls at the bar that obviously wanted nothing to do with him. Disco, Dance floor and Delray! This place is an excellent venue for a private party, or just a night out dancing with friends. The attention to detail pulled me right back in time, teenage years listening to vinyl records in a friend's smoky basement. This place is worth a visit for the nostalgia alone. A nice size bar mixes up cocktails, beer and wine to break through inhibitions and get you on the light up dance floor. Lounges available throughout if you want to cool off your platform heeled feet and chill. Give yourself time to find street or private pay parking. Highly recommend a visit! read more

We had plans nearby in Delray for dinner, so we decided to try John Boy ahead of time. What a great call. It was pretty early in the evening, maybe 6pm. When we walked in and took in the whole 70's disco vibe, I was surprised there was a decent amount of people already. But we were the youngest people. Seems like the older folks likes crashing this place before it gets dark. It was nice to see em out on the dance floor tearing it up. We grabbed our drinks and hung out. The drinks were fine, served in a plastic cup. We saw a photo booth and scooted in a for an impromptu shoot. That was a great call. We only stuck around for a bit, the first shift. But I'm sure we will try to stop back. It sounds like it gets ripping at night, they had a line forming when we left. Good times read more

Our friends and hubby wanted to come here on a Saturday night. We parked in the garage above the venue via ParkMobile as there was no street parking available. There was no line or fee to get in but it was absolutely packed inside. We found our friends dancing close by the DJ. Very mixed age group but still not my jam. Reminds me of an upgraded version of platforms/cosmos in the downtown Boca area. I can tolerate disco music but I definitely wouldn't choose to come to a disco club. It's great for people watching though. read more

This is the ultimate night out/dance club for all ages. We came here to dance for my friend's bachelorette, we ran into two other bach parties, college students, and people over 60. It's mainly music from the 70s and 80s, with a few other hits from recent decades too! It truly is for 21+ and 21+++! We came around 10:30pm on a Friday and were let in for free as a group of women. I loved the bartenders here. My group did a few tequila shots and they were about $15 each. It's such a fun vibe. It was packed, but with enough room to dance. There were even groups dancing on chairs sometimes. Each song was a hit! It was lots of fun. It was very loud, so if you come, expect more dancing than chatting. Everyone on the dance floor was so friendly too. I loved this spot so much, I wish we had one in our city. read more

Fun spot to dance at! Went a little early on a Saturday night (8:30 pm) with my girlfriend, before hitting the ave for dinner. Heard later the crowd gets a little young and busy, so we wanted to avoid that. They were jamming 70's hits and some 80's and people had energy on the multicolored dance floor. Much older demographic (55-70's) but people were really enjoying themselves. I think cover charges start at 9, but all in all, a good time to be had. read more

Second time here. We knew it would be crowded on a Saturday night, and that was no problem. The DJ was not playing "disco" music. He seemed to be spinning more 80's and 90's "club" music. The first time we went it was all 70's and 80's disco. I hope that comes back - we can get any old club music at a dozen other places. read more

Although we thoroughly enjoy this dance spot it seems as though the DJ has become lax in spinning the 'same old songs' . When they first opened the music was much more varied , they played better / older disco tunes . Sometimes the younger Djs just don't know what the 'seasoned' clientele want to hear ! read more

Fun! Fun! fun! Great throwback dance studio with an upbeat vibe & a crowded dance floor. The DJ spins tunes from to 70's and 80's while the old music videos playing on the mock "TVs" on the walls, the strobe lights and the disco ball add to the visual experience. Both young and "young at heart" enjoy dancing and singing to the old songs. There was no cover charge for women when we went on a Friday night, and the majority of people on the dance floor were women. I met friends for a drink on Saturday nite and was met at 9 pm with a line to get in, something I was not expecting on a nite in June. No cover charge for women but 20.00 for men. The place was packed once I got in and was really jumping. It had people of all ages with mix of people dressed to match the decor and others in typical south florida style. The place was a trip back in time with disco ball over the dance floor and 70's, 80's and 90's blasting . Also tv' s showed classic dance shows like soul train and dick Clark to match the music. The dance floor was packed and I had a great time dancing with my friends. I will probably go back again but would have given a 5 if the music was slightly lower so you could also have a conversation . read more

Oh. My. God!! This place is amazing, I feel as if I was teleported back in time. Reliving my youth, when music was at it's best and life was carefree. Every single song they play is amazing, unadulterated and played in its entirety. The decor was so well thought out, the wallpaper, the retro couches, the turn style tvs, giant disco balls, the Saturday night fever dance floor, the giant Farah Fawcett poster and old records. My favorite bar to go to on the Ave. Most of the other places are all the same but they bring a twist to having fun and dancing to the Ave. Friday nights are my favorite and my go to bartender Nicole. She is always so quick and nice. Highly recommend checking it out. Be ready to dance ! read more

What a freakin fun place!! Came here not expecting 70s night to be such a fun time! Blasts of cold air from the ceiling vents. Bathrooms were clean and single stalls. The colorful light up floor was poppin. Drinks at the bar were standard. Door attendants were interactive and efficient. Music choices were on point and really fit the vibe. Well who ever thought we'd go to a disco again? Had heard about it from friends and then again at the hotel pool from other age appropriate people. So glad we went! Fun 70s and 80s music and a very mixed age group on the dance floor. A no charge admission on a Wednesday. Good drinks. Generally just a good time! A cool place to visit for some nostalgia and music, very crowded dance floor. Maybe a weeknight when it isn't tourist season the dance floor may be less crowded, but on a Saturday night in high season in February, it was too packed for my liking. I noticed someone vaping on the dance floor and l asked one of the security guards and he said vaping was allowed on the dance floor but smoking is not allowed on the dance floor. So not to my liking but permitted nonetheless. read more

Fun, 70's themed dance club. Light up dance floor, tv's playing shows/commercials/movies from the 70's. Friendly bartenders and staff. No cover charge at all on weeknights, weekends free till 9pm, then $10 pp. Drinks are typical overpriced...$13-ish. And there is no happy hour. It tends to skew way older earlier in the evening, especially on weekends. If you're 50, 60, 70, whatever, you'll feel very comfortable here between 6-9 pm. A very fun, too old to give a damn group having a great time dancing their asses off. Around 9pm, the older group starts heading out and a much younger group starts coming in. There's always a few creepy older guys who stick around to hit on girls 35 years younger than them. But overall, a very fun place. read more

Went last Saturday, DJ was excellent played a lot of great songs and had a really good mix and vibe. Everyone danced all night. The DJ last night was terrible. Every song played was at the same club mix sped up tempo making all the songs and beat sound the same. He was also totally oblivious on how to mix sings. We left early as did many other patrons. Don't us this DJ again and play the original versions of the songs not the techno rhythm crap! read more

When I checked in for a friends table they asked to hold my credit card and that I would not be charged. Got my card back shortly after and I left with my card. Later I was charged 1200 without my knowledge, authorization, or even my physically being there or my signature. No one told me that I going to be charged anything on my card or I would be the one to pay even tho someone else gave their credit card right after and they signed what they thought was their bill. Management sided with staff of course. Will never be back. Disputed with my bank. Horrible read more

If you are a single guy this place draws a lot of women. John Boys business model is to attract women which will attract men. The music played is girls night out variety stuff that men can't dance to.While the girls are all having a great time dancing the men are feeling left out and miserable. Now that is a recipe for selling alcohol. There was a time when clubs naively thought if the men and women were having a great time dancing with each other you would be successful but it eventually dawned on them that it was far more profitable for the women to have a good time and for the sake of alcohol sales keep the men miserable and bored. My wife and I were there last night, the dance floor was crowded but most of the time men were just standing there while women danced with women. This situation is the rule not the exception wherever we go. My conclusion is that you will not find a dance place anywhere that wants men to be part of the dancing equation, our role to them is to keep our wallets open, nothing else. read more
