Our meal was to celebrate a birthday. We requested a 2-top on the balcony along Atlantic Ave and SE 1st. It was a breezy evening. We started at the bar, which was quite crowded. The espresso martini was good as was the Point Break, with tequila and guava juice, very nice, very tropical. Avalon Beach House used to be Avalon Steak & Seafood House. The first time I went in 2022, I remember it being more of a traditional steakhouse. The Ave has grown significantly around it over the years, but it's still one of the staple restaurants in a central location. Overall, it was great meal with good service and nice atmosphere. It's sill one of the gems. We started with the wedge salad and cheesy bread. We wanted to get the Filet Mignon and the Prime Cut Ribeye to share them, but they were out of the Filet which was a bit surprising. Instead, we got the Crispy Chicken Piccata. They were both excellent. The fingerlings and asparagus were good and loved the red wine sauce. The crispy chicken was not too heavy, with lemon and an ample arugula salad. I don't remember the name of desert, but it was a combo of a browny with an Oreo cookie layer (which the kid in me couldn't refuse) with a scoop vanilla ice cream. It was great. read more

Came here with some friends during the evening. One of my friends was coming straight from a workout class, wearing a cute workout outfit. A staff member and then the manager both came over to harass us about her outfit, demanding she leaves or change. We were a group of 8 women, all ready to drop money on drinks, food, and tips. Because of the rude behavior of the manager and staff member, we left and went next door to Honey instead, which welcomed us without issue. I highly recommend Honey, they have great drinks, very friendly and welcoming staff members, the manager was extremely nice and accommodating, and the atmosphere was great there. So next time anyone gets turned away from Avalon due to their obscure dress code policy, just try out Honey next door. The dress code for Avalon is not obvious, it is not explicitly written anywhere near the entrance for guests to read. It is very strange that this establishment on Atlantic Ave has a dress code, as none of the others have it. This feels very much like the toxic atmosphere of Miami businesses. My friends and I will not be returning to Avalon. Avalon lost out on profit due to one outfit that "didn't fit"; I feel most for the servers who could have benefited from our tips there. read more

We loved the appetizer we got- Short rib soldiers: basically grilled cheese with short rib and vodka sauce to dip (ah-mazing!). We both liked our entrees as well. I went here for lunch with friends I hadn't seen in a very long time, and it was the perfect spot to catch up. I ordered the Caesar salad with shrimp and absolutely loved it. My friends ordered the chicken avocado salad with spinach, candied walnuts, apple, goat cheese, lemon pepper, and marigolds, and everyone was really happy with their meals. What made the experience even better was the atmosphere and the service. We stayed quite a while talking and catching up, and our waitress was so patient and never made us feel rushed. Lots of positives here - great location, would recommend trying to get parking in the garage nearby otherwise you'll be circling for street parking for a little during peak hours. The place is adorable - definitely an aesthetic place that suits the young Delray crowd. Music was upbeat and bopping, though as dinner progressed and the place filled up, we really had to lean in as it seemed like every one was challenged to hear and speak loudly over the music and other tables. Food came out quick and was delicious along with some great and attentive service. Unfortunately, we were gently and awkwardly hovered over towards the end of our dining experience as there was a big group coming in and they needed our table. Stopped by for a quick bite, and it happened to be happy hour so I was able to get a couple of cocktails as well. It's a large space with both indoor and outdoor seating, and plenty of stools at the bar area. My waiter was so nice! I believe his name was Zack, and I would come back just for his service alone. Today we came for Sunday brunch and had the pleasure of meeting Samantha and Max at the bar who were super attentive and friendly. We started with a round of drinks. They have unlimited mimosas, margaritas (frozen and spicy), Bloody Mary's, and Espresso Martinis for $25 and you can switch. They also have Happy Hour all day on Sunday with reduced priced drinks and snacks. For appetizers we got the pigs and blanket and coconut shrimp. Delish! Pigs in Blanket were great and great for sharing. Coconut Shrimp was also very crispy and had good flavors. We visited for Valentine's Day, when we walked onto the patio and were greeted by a friendly hostess. The music on the patio was quite loud, but once we walked inside to the down dining room, it was a more reasonable volume. So if you're looking to have discussion throughout your meal, I recommend sitting inside. We had made a reservation for three and annotated that it would be two adults and one child needing a highchair. Although the restaurant was not very full, we arrived at the table and there was no highchair, the hostess mentioned she would sort this, but never returned. Although we were able to choose our table in a specific area, all of the tables were quite small for three people. Marcos, our server came to take our drink order when we mentioned we needed a highchair and then could look at drinks. He very quickly brought us one over. Throughout the meal, his service was impeccable. He was attentive, friendly, and very helpful in explaining the menu items. The food quality was good overall. I had a watermelon zero proof cocktail, which was very refreshing and not overly sweet. It was perfect and beautifully served with a slice of watermelon as garnish. For starters we ordered the calamari and crab, croquettes as snacks from the happy hour menu. The calamari was our favorite perfectly crispy with lovely sauces to dip. The crab croquettes were beautifully presented, and you could visibly see crab inside when you take a bite, however due to the flavor of the potato it overpowered the delicate flavor of the crab. However, our very picky Toddler was very happy with both choices. For our entrées, I had the steak frite and my husband had the raised beef Ragu. We shared between the three of us and everything was delicious. The meat from the steak Crete was perfectly cooked, fries, perfectly crispy, lovely homemade aïoli to dip the fries in. The braised beef ragu had wonderful deep flavors. To finish our meal, we had the Valentine's Day dessert, which unfortunately was disappointing. It had a cake like texture. And the flavor reminded me of a microwave mug brownie. This was disappointing after so many high highlights throughout the meal. We did not complain. I'm sure if we did. The server would have fix this, however, we had our toddler who is ready to leave the restaurant so we left it at that. I couldn't taste a lick of the seafood. 3) short rib eggs Benedict. Come on. This is a softball. Every eggs Benedict everywhere tastes the same. The only difference is the protein thrown on top. Honestly I used to love this place but recently I was very disappointed. I loved having the option of either brunch or happy hour on the weekend but they changed happy hour on the weekends (no longer all day). They removed a lot of the food off of the happy hour menu and increased prices all around. My favorite wine was replaced by a cheaper version and the espresso martini was weak. I walked by Avalon Steakhouse many times, but never went in. However, when looking for a lunch spot I couldn't resist the new and improved Avalon- the Beach House. It's the perfect type of restaurant for the beachy Atlantic Avenue. We grabbed one of the last seats outside. They had plenty of open tables inside, but it was too gorgeous of a day to be inside. However, they were giving nice sized samples of Rose when i ventured inside to us the restroom. My mom and I were in the mood for brunch food so I went w/ the avocado toast, which was delicious. I added a poached egg to it. My mom ordered the overnight oats when she seemed to enjoy as well. The service was attentive and we ordered and got our food pretty fast. Used the holiday off to take a day trip to Delray Beach. After enjoying several hours at the beach, we ventured out for lunch. To our surprise, however, most places in Delray (at least near or on Atlantic Ave) during the week seem to be closed until 5PM, which is rather odd given that it's a vacation destination. Luckily Avalon Beach House was one of the exceptions! Super cute spot right on Atlantic Ave with plenty of good food and drink options. Even better, they have happy hour that runs til 6, so we ordered a spicy marg and the watermelon frose (not overly sweet surprisingly). My friend had initially wanted to know how sweet their rose was and our server was kind enough to offer to bring her a sample to decide. The mahi tacos are yummy but they are pretty spicy, which I think servers may want to warn patrons about. The ahi tuna poke is refreshing with pineapple in the mix, but I actually would have preferred less pineapple in this dish.
