Aaron is the best, he has done almost all of my tattoos and has fixed a couple of old ones. His lines are thin so when the tattoo gets old won't loose the shape and they won't disappear either. I recieved the worst tattoo ever from this place and i am so frustrated to leave this review. I walked in on a slow day, and was tattooed by James about a year ago in July 2023. I wonder if he didn't know how to tattoo people with darker skin because he went much too deep and it is completely blown out a year later. I have other tattoos and none of them have done this. It began to look blown out a month into the healing process. When I contacted James and asked about this, he offered to fill the rest in with white. I have had white on other tattoos in small amounts, and on my darker skin it always looks like a scar, so I did not accept this offer. If you have darker skin do not go here! My tattoo is in a really visible spot and I am going to have to get a cover up now. Really disappointed. read more

I am OBSESSED with Diane's work. I have now had 3 pieces done by her and each one is absolutely stunning. Her line work is unlike anything I have ever seen and she takes the necessary time to be extremely detailed. Along with her incredible tattoo and art skills she is whole heartily one of the best humans I have ever meet. I was referred to Tim by a colleague. My first piece (final supper) was a great experience and overall result. I had a second tattoo done by Tim in mid-July (Creation of Light by Dore). He highly recommended Dore to help connect my pieces together in building my sleeve. We decided to do gray wash- immediately after the session, I shared with him my concern with the tone and Tim assured me it would blend after healing. During the healing process I noted tone again with Tim & he dismissed the concern. Upon healing (3 weeks out), I followed up & requested a partial refund as the healed piece requires another artist to finish blending it with my other tattoos due to the tone. Tim became hostile- completely unprofessional conduct considering this concern was communicated several times. It appears the ink used resulted in violet undertones in my healed tattoo that Tim refuses to partially reimburse so it can be corrected. read more

I had my first tattoo experience at Good Omen after going to a few other shops in SC over the last 20 years. I went in for two tats as a birthday present for myself. Not only was it the first time I've NAPPED through a tat (a beautiful fine line piece on my wrist), but I couldn't be more satisfied with Dianne's work on the second cover-up tattoo. I had a gnarly leg scar from a bad fall last year (41 stitches, ended up in the ICU with an infection to the bone, not pretty) and this was my first cover-up. She couldn't have been more gentle in her work or conscious of what I needed, making sure she set aside plenty of time for us in case it was painful, etc. It's going to be beautiful once I take this tape off if it, I can tell. That's the main thing, both pieces are so lovely. I couldn't have made a better choice. And when I go back, that's where I'll go. I looked around and the other artists were doing incredible work too. There are a lot of great skin artists in Santa Cruz, but at GO, it's the combination--no nerve-wracking surf punk in the background, not a bunch of people dropping in, just the artists doing their thing with the highest degree of cleanliness, skill, and thoughtfulness. I'm a patient of Tim! Tim is very clean, tidy, neat, courteous, polite and just respectful! That's just him. He is one talented dude! You should see his doodles and sketches! Really a gifted artist! Tim doesn't smoke or smell..and that is a huge difference when you have to sit in a chair for hours getting inked! Let me ask you something...Have you ever sat in a chair while the artist is detoxing, when you can smell the alcohol from his breath?!? Hey..that smells like a Bloody Mary mixed with pancakes...Is that what you had after last call?!?! Nothing like having an artist needing a smoke break to calm his nerves!! Breath like an ashtray!! Gross!! Yuck! Seriouly think about it! One time, while I was in Iowa visiting my father, he booked time with this artist who was supposedly great...He was Huge!! Maybe 350lbs!! The tattoo turned out great, but I had to smell his B.O. and the smegma that was oozing from his body!! Do you know what smegma smells like? Anyways.. If you're reading reviews so that you can decide where to get your tattoo, you might as well stop and just come on in to Good Omen tattoo. There are 3 excellent artists here, Tim (the owner, has been tattooing for about 27 years, and worked at Staircase for a long time), Aaron (also worked at Staircase, and has been tattooing for 27 years, and Philipe from Brazil, who has been at Good Omen for a year and has also been tattooing for a long time. I've spent many hours in this shop on several different sessions, and Tim has done other tattoos on me over the years. I've been to other tattoo shops which hardly compare to Good Omen. A couple of these other shops have been downright negative and/or rude, no need to expand on those details, but surprising to see such uncool business ethics. Not true at Good Omen, all 3 of these dudes are super awesome, positive, excellent tattooing skills, and great artists. I believe they usually charge around $125/hour which is generally a bit less expensive than other shops, yet the quality is perfect. When I get work done they are mindful to remove costs for time when they are not actually tattooing (breaks, etc.). I've only been tattooed by Tim but I have seen Aaron and Phillipe do many tattoos which are always perfect, and their customers are stoked. From all 3 artists, I've seen a wide variety of tattoo styles, and all are excellent. I'm especially blown away by their portraits and intricate shading. They can copy exactly what you want, the way you want it, if you have something specific in mind - or, they can help you map out something and collaborate with you, or they can help you with new, custom, unique designs. I like to keep it as loose as possible and give them creative liberty with the idea that tattooing is an art form. Easy dude, don't tattoo my skeleton. Shop is clean, some cool newer tattoo machines in there, and of course everything is sterile/disposable. I love the minimal yet funky-grunge look inside the shop. It's comfortable yet interesting and had a positive vibe. Never any negativity at this shop, no judgement at all, just an overall fun & good vibe, and always good music. Highly recommended. Apparently, Good Omen had a visiting artist that my friend is a fan of so, we had to go specifically to see her. Her work was awesome and well worth the drive. She really had the touch and didn't mind when only a small piece was requested. The shop itself was pretty wicked. It's theme is... I donno, rustic, dungeon, stylish but sick? I noticed the equipment they used was state-of-the-art, too. It's clean inside but you have to trek to find a restroom. There's also very sketchy cell coverage in there... or my phone was on the blitz... again. September 1, 2013 I went to Good Omen and had Tim fix my tattoo so you could see my turtle!! He took a tattoo that had a turtle, which blended into the water and no one could tell what it was, and made my turtle STAND out by making it a tribal turtle, swimming in tropical water, with Hawaiian flowers! It is more beautiful now that it was before which was the ultimate goal! My husband found Tim years ago and Tim has never failed with any tattoo that he has done for him.
