Their warranty on work done was another key factor. An electrician found a dead rat and droppings in the attic, so I needed clean up and rodent proofing. In the crawl space, a bunch of the ducts were unattached by wear and tear and plumbing work that had been done in the past (which I didn't know. No wonder my gas bill was so high over the winter!). Shannon and team cleaned everything up, sanitized, reattached the ducts and rodent proofed the whole house on the outside. Apparently the attic was vulnerable, as prior owners' foam had been chewed through in the eaves. After they were done they set traps which will be checked every few weeks. I will update if there are any further rodents but I am confident in the work by the company and team. I highly recommend this family owned company.

The guy who came out was on time, a bit eccentric and very passionate about rats. He was detail oriented and did a great job explaining the job and its breakdown. Unfortunately on the day of the job, we had 4 guys come to our home on time- but none of them spoke English. Now, I appreciate them coming out, but we just could not communicate and they did not have work trucks or shirts with their company name. An hour later, we had a younger guy show up and he spoke English. The crew worked really fast, did a nasty job of removing our rodent infested insulation and put in new insulation, they mixed concrete and patched up some holes as well and put out rat traps. They came back twice to check the traps and removed them. I think they did a good job, appreciate their punctuality. But management should always send someone who speaks some English and provide a company truck or at least shirts. I personally felt uncomfortable letting into my home a group of random men with no identification.

They did however accidentally tapped 2 of them in side, so they came back out and created a small opening to let them go (for a fee, but still the total cost was less that the others) and then a few days later when all was clear, they closed up the opening (no fee for coming back to close the opening, very nice) to resolve the issue.

Our first inspection was by Sam and was pleased on how he explained the issues we were having and confirmed that we had rodents. He inspected our attics and sent another crew to check the crawl space and confirmed we also had tunneling. After sending us an estimate of the costs, we decided to check with another provider to get a competitive pricing. After reviewing we decided to go with Honest Rodent Proofing, they were clear and detailed in their statement of work and very approachable to discuss our issues. On the service day, unfortunately we had an issue where the estimate was incorrect and they missed the correct sq ft of the house. Sam was able to provide a discount and we were happy to proceed. The crew is a great team, and wanted to thank Fernando, Mario, Josh and others I didn't get their names. They were able to explain what they were doing and why. They cleared all the old insulation in the attic and replaced with new ones. They added traps which luckily caught one of the chaps the next day. Unfortunately, I had another occasion recently to need pest control services in connection with a rat problem I was having. We had used a different service provider 9 months or so earlier and had the problem under control until it wasn't again! The earlier exclusion work that had been performed had been compromised. I had found the likely place they were getting in and had reset traps in the basement; but, because I had had such a good experience earlier with Fermin and Certech, I called them up to get their professional experience and assessment. As was the earlier case with the Ant issue, they were responsive to my call, came out within 24 hours, and just brought a huge dose of professionalism and reasonableness. I don't know what it is with the pest business; but, I just always feel like I am being fed a bunch of scare tactics, oversold, and then left in the end too often with an ineffective solution , a long-term contract and difficulty in following up once they have the contract. That just hasn't been the case with Certech and it stands out as different from their competitors and is also so refreshing. Fermin was as patient, friendly and knowledgeable as he had been when he came out to our house earlier for the ants, and he worked with me to acknowledge the work already done and then advise and recommend only what incrementally needed to be done. He even helped me clear the catches I had in the traps I had set and rebait them. He also confirmed my assessment on the place they were likely getting in and helped me reclose that; but, also took it upon himself to do a comprehensive search for other exclusion gaps including up on the roof when he noticed a place our oak tree was touching the house. At the end, once again differentiating themselves from their competition, there were no exorbitant charges for the visit and no hard sell for a continuing contract. He was so honest he even told me I should be fine now with how things were and just to keep monitoring the exclusion areas and check the traps now and then. Contra Costa Termite Control (CCTC) just finished a job that started small and continued to grow…read more We just bought a house, with some known minor rot. We brought in CCTC as a second opinion for the inspection that was done by the seller. CCTC confirmed that the original inspection was valid, and while CCTC's price was about the same as the other company, I liked Joe who came out for the inspection so we went with CCTC (it didn't hurt Joe is also is a parent to a pitty and made friends with mine). Kim, the person who runs the show, was very responsive and good to work with. Both inspections had called out that we might find something in one area once we opened it up, since hard to get to, and unfortunately we did. Lots of rot and some termites. So, we basically quadrupled the work by the time we finished after chasing down the rot and killing the bugs. Ivan, who did most of the construction work (helped by Larry, Joe and another - sorry I forget his name) did an amazing job. Ivan was very patient with all my questions and suggestions on how to do things a bit different, etc. The job did take a lot longer than anticipated since they had to special order some wood and Ivan had some other scheduled jobs, but it finally is finished and we have a house that is ready for the next 20+ years! We will be seeing them in a couple years to make sure the termites haven't come back.
