Unfortunately, I had another occasion recently to need pest control services in connection with a rat problem I was having. We had used a different service provider 9 months or so earlier and had the problem under control until it wasn't again! The earlier exclusion work that had been performed had been compromised. I had found the likely place they were getting in and had reset traps in the basement; but, because I had had such a good experience earlier with Fermin and Certech, I called them up to get their professional experience and assessment. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As was the earlier case with the Ant issue, they were responsive to my call, came out within 24 hours, and just brought a huge dose of professionalism and reasonableness.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I don't know what it is with the pest business; but, I just always feel like I am being fed a bunch of scare tactics, oversold, and then left in the end too often with an ineffective solution , a long-term contract and difficulty in following up once they have the contract. That just hasn't been the case with Certech and it stands out as different from their competitors and is also so refreshing. Fermin was as patient, friendly and knowledgeable as he had been when he came out to our house earlier for the ants, and he worked with me to acknowledge the work already done and then advise and recommend only what incrementally needed to be done. He even helped me clear the catches I had in the traps I had set and rebait them. He also confirmed my assessment on the place they were likely getting in and helped me reclose that; but, also took it upon himself to do a comprehensive search for other exclusion gaps including up on the roof when he noticed a place our oak tree was touching the house. At the end, once again differentiating themselves from their competition, there were no exorbitant charges for the visit and no hard sell for a continuing contract. He was so honest he even told me I should be fine now with how things were and just to keep monitoring the exclusion areas and check the traps now and then. And, to call them again if I ever need them. So refreshing and, once again, renewing my faith that friendly, quality, professional service is still available in our community. read more

Started the service three weeks ago. After the spray inside the house, it killed tons of cockroaches. One week later, follow-up spray in the house, killed more due to hatching. We selected Certech to deal with an infestation of rats under our house. We hade several bids and Justin's was the most professional and well described. Justin and his crew came on time and carefull dug a trench around our house and installed wire mesh and concrete to prevent further entry of the rats. They then placed muliple traps in the crawl space. They will return in 2 weeks to inspect, clean and place new traps as needed. The did a great and job and cleaned up after. read more

Certech's crew did a 100% excellent job of rodent-proofing my aunt's house and cleaning up a previous attic infestation. They poured concrete around the bottom of the shallow foundation wall to stop pests from burrowing under it to enter the crawl space. They filled entrances and crevices to the attic. They cleaned up the droppings in the attic (I verified myself that they did a good job of it). Finally, they set traps in the attic and crawl space - no signs of rodents 1 month later. They even found and repaired an air duct leak while they were in the crawl space by my request. Justin, the general manager, is very professional and easy to work with, and unafraid to do the hard and dirty work himself as well. No pushy sales tactics to try to upsell me on things we didn't need like rat slabs, insulation replacement, etc -- just honest work. The 2 other associates were also very courteous and professional. Justin gets the job done right and makes sure your home is left clean, clear and protected. I didn't want to deal with the dead rats we found left behind from the previous owner. I didn't know if there were any live ones left. Justin came right away and found a point of entry, assessed the ancient rat remnants and gave me a price to just make it go all away. He patched holes, filled in concrete, cleaned up the crawl space by vacuuming up the droppings and filling up 4 trash bags of debris including insulation the rats used as a former nest. We moved into a new home recently and one night, whilst I was doing some work at around midnight in the basement, I heard a rustling noise. I looked over and let out a silent scream as I noticed a rat run past me. I very quickly went through the various stages of grief, first doubting that i had even seen it, before getting angry that our home already had a rat problem. After feeling sad about it, I accepted it and hit up Yelp to look for a good rodent exclusion provider. We got a few different quotes from different providers who educated us on the different ways to exclude rats. One vendor was extremely terse and turned up 6 hours early for a Sunday afternoon appointment - walked in, told us we had a rat problem, and then walked out. They later texted us with a one line quote... Working with Sean from Certech was almost the entirely opposite experience. He turned up, listened to our concerns, gave us some thoughtful advice and walked us through how he would exclude the various problematic areas in our basement. He suggested using bait boxes around our property to reduce the probability of rats getting in (although I've later read that these can harm owl wildlife since they consumed the poisoned rats - so something to be aware of), and proposed using concrete to permanently seal up any small holes where they might be coming in. He also pointed out several small gaps that we hadn't originally considered as being a problem and mentioned he would apply wire mesh to them. We went ahead and scheduled with Certech (on my birthday, funnily enough) on the basis of their professional approach and competitive pricing. Two weeks later, the traps that have been set are still "empty" and we haven't seen any evidence of rodent activity: no excrement and no paw prints in our subarea! We're happy customers and now I can go back to tinkering in our basement late at night in peace. read more

Absolutely no one wants to deal with pests, but in the unfortunate case that it has, I highly recommend Ada and Fermin ("Ferminator") at Certech! Ada is on top of her game replying to emails and coordinating with their techs who are on site. I'm super scared of spiders, so after years of owning a house and trying to deal with them myself, I finally gave up and called a pest control company. Best choice ever! Sean came and looked at everything, filled in a bunch of cracks, removed two wasp nests, sprayed the house against spiders inside and outside, removed all the cobwebs (even from my super-cobwebby retaining walls and covered deck!), and laid down sticky traps to see what else we catch in the next couple of weeks. He even patched up the house where the wasp nest used to be! And he was super knowledgeable about pests and let me know which of the dead spiders could bite but had no venom, and which were completely harmless. I had a rodent problem at my home, and went onto Yelp to help find a good company to solve this issue. I had 5 different companies come and do estimates. Sean came from Certech to do the inspection and give me an estimate. He was very professional, detailed in his inspection, and I felt the price for the amount of work to be done was reasonable. I totally trusted him, and knew that he was the right person to do the work. He really knows what he is doing and is a person of integrity. Sean came and spent almost a whole day at my home taking care of my rodent problem. He sealed up entry points with wire mesh and foam, climbed up on the roof to close up an opening where the rats were getting in, and even cut some of the branches of the palm tree that were hanging on the roof. He left a few bait boxes, one in my basement and one in my attic which he will come back and check on in a week or so. But, he told me that if I needed him at any point before that time to call him, and he would come. Sean is a real asset to Certech, and they are lucky to have such a great person working for them. He is not only an excellent technician, but a very reliable person. He always got back to me when I called him with questions about the estimate or any other concerns that I had. He has a great work ethic. So I have given 5 stars for the job done on my home, and especially want to thank Sean for the work that he did.
