I used to come to this ice cream shop since I was a kid, and I'm sorry to say, it's just not like how it used to be. I don't know if it was because they were busy on Sunday (5/31/26) or what, but I did not enjoy my ice cream at all. I ordered the Carolina Concrete (vanilla frozen custard with M&Ms, Oreos, and hot fudge). The signature is literally in the name -- concrete -- but mine was terrible. From what I understand, it's supposed to be fresh frozen custard served upside down because it's thick and frozen, but mine was far from that. It was served the regular way, and the custard was basically liquid. I also ordered my dad's plain vanilla frozen custard. The lady helping us was sweet, but she mentioned they only had certain frozen custards available at the moment, which was disappointing. I feel like there should've been a sign letting customers know that beforehand. When I questioned my order and mentioned what the sign described the Carolina Concrete to be, the employee did offer to remake it, which I appreciated. But honestly, I shouldn't have had to ask for something to be made correctly the first time when I paid for it. I'm not sure what was going on, but it felt like they weren't prepared for the Sunday crowd on a hot day. And no -- before anyone assumes it melted because of the weather -- I ate it inside my car with the A/C on, not outside. One thing I'll always give them credit for is the atmosphere. The outside seating area is still really nice, especially with the fountain, and it looks beautiful at night with the lights. I'll probably know moving forward to visit during less busy times or later in the evening instead. read more

I just left Goodberry's. How you are charged $5 for a regular lemonade and it's made with tap water. Nobody is drinking tidewater anymore. It's not refreshing it's contaminated. At home I buy bottles of water to drink. A jug of spring water is like $1.58. to use a lemon juice producer is not that much work. Why would you charge me $5 in a little cup for lemonade sugar and a cup of tap water. That's something that I could have made it home but I was charged $10 for two cups. And I was so angry that I threw it right in the trash in front of both of them. Not even worth the price. I used to enjoy to going there to get lemonade. However charging lemonade with fresh lemon sugar and tap water is not it. Again it is not refraction. False advertisement. It is contaminated. read more

I have visited the Strickland location but today was a humid Saturday, so I decided to stop in for custard with family on Spring Forest Road. This location has the friendliest staff! We normally love Goodberry's, but on our last visit, they were short staffed. There was a sign in the window saying as much! But because we love supporting a local business, we waited our turn. Unfortunately, that was a huge mistake. People who came after us received their orders, ate, and left before we received our order. We received my Sons cup of vanilla after about 30 minutes, so we went to wait in the car. My husband stood there for another 15 minutes, was given the wrong sizes, and was given attitude by the young man working there. Another woman served her kids who came 20 minutes after us before we got our order, as well. My husband had already put $7 in the tip jar for them, since we've both worked in food service before. But we certainly won't be tipping like that again. Please train you staff how to organize their order tickets, and how to respond to customers who might have a long wait or incorrect orders. I told her we would try out Goodberrys that Saturday afternoon after dinner. This location has a private parking lot and areas to sit outside. You just walk up to the window and order and then they call you up when your order is ready. I decided to order a small sundae with vanilla and brownie pieces. Goodberrys is a great place for ice cream. I will warn you however that you must be prepared to eat it fast because it melts fast. This can be irritating if you want to leisurely enjoy your custard while conversating or if it's your cheat/treat day and you want to savor every taste versus a man vs food approach to downing this frozen custard. I have tried the turtle sundae and the Hawaiian.The turtle sundae is truly delicious and packed with warm fudge, caramel and pecans. The Hawaiian concrete is like a banana split mixed together. Other flavors that were tested in our party were chocolate concrete, cookie dough, and oreo mix-ins. For those who are used to traditional scooped ice cream like that served at Brusters, Sunni Skis, etc. This may not be for you. This is like soft serve ice cream but a bit thicker and a ton sweeter. read more

I got peanut butter custard with macadamia nuts and cookie dough toppings. As I watched the man behind the counter put it all together, I was honestly surprised they used real macadamia nuts, without skimping out! The weather is changing and many people are coming but this is normal. Why would you have only three people working. One person is always breaking down equipment so they can close on time, one working the register and one poor girl trying to make all the orders. It was a 21 minute wait in line before I was able to order. I have also been there recently when they have run out of the flavor of the day and vanilla. How does that happen??? Basically you pick your custard flavor and the "toppings" you'd like and they mix it in for you...like a McFlurry at McDonalds.
