You will likely smell the barley/beer but it works wonderfully well with turkey sausage, egg and Sriracha cheddar. The flavor combo was amazing with a peppery, herbiness from the turkey, buttery texture of the biscuit that SOMEHOW magically held together despite being so soft. I doubt I would even bother trying anything else, not that the other things probably aren't equally amazing, but that turkey biscuit was unreal. The employees promptly took my order, offered sauce pairing suggestions and offered to walk my order over to me. Will be back! read more

I can't believe I've never heard of this spot until a friend recommended we visit recently. We went around lunch time on a Saturday and the place was packed, so that was a great sign already. I loved the large selection of sandwiches and ended up ordering their pastrami & rye while my friend got the roast beef. The flavors of my pastrami were good, but I ended up liking the ciabatta roll used on the roast beef better than my rye, just because I like softer bread. Overall their food is solid and I would like to go back next time to try their breakfast menu and grab a coffee from Cultivar (which is also located inside the same shop)! read more

This is not your grandfathers French Dip! This is a fancy-dancy version that I'll be back for. With horseradish and peppers you would think it more of a cheesesteak but then it's served with some awesome au ju that I could just drink! And let's not forget the coleslaw. Wasn't really in the breakfast mood today. But luckily they had no breakfast items. And you can't go wrong with a BLT. Now $11 for a BLT plus drink and chips, was not the cheapest however.... This blt was AMAZING. The sourdough was toasted with bacon grease and they were not shiesty with any part of the B or the L or the T. Located near the Dallas Botanical Gardens (5m) this is a unique sandwich shop and coffee cafe. The sandwiches are amazing. Excellent quality ingredients and unique sandwiches. For example, they have a portobello Mushroom sandwich that takes them 5 days to prepare the mushroom for the sandwich. My wife had a very large Turkey sandwich that was stuffed with turkey. I had a delicious Rueben sandwich that was very tasty! We were there for lunch/sandwiches, but they have an extensive breakfast menu. The people were great. There was some indoor seating, but it was 73 degrees outside and we set at one of the covered picnic benches in the parking lot. One good thing was they brought the food to us at our parking lot table which was good as it takes a while for them to prepare the sandwiches. Areas where they can improve. It is a hassle to have to buy your drinks separately at the coffee stand. Most people would prefer to make one purchase instead of waiting in 2 lines and having to pay twice. The cold ice tea is in a medium size cup and it is VERY expensive for a drink. The prices are all pretty high for order at the counter. Many would say the food is really good and I agreed to that above, but the prices are definitely high and this would discourage many people in more of a budget. They might consider throwing in chips/pickle or a drink to make it easier. We spent $30 on 2 sandwiches, 2 drinks and one bag of chips. If it was a sit down restaurant that would be more realistic, but this is "order at the counter." We were here in mid October when eating outside in the mid 70's was great, but not sure how it is in August when it is 100 degrees outside. read more

Just so you know and can plan accordingly. Goodfriends Package is super casual with a concrete floor and natural wood finishes. There's a long trestle table where patrons can sit together in a neighborly style and a few tables and chairs. The big boy is certainly not big in size, but its big in flavor. The scrapple added this extra edge of wild to the sandwich without going overboard (similar to pate in a bahn mi sandwich). The white cheddar is what really tied everything together, with a bright, white bow of sharp, tangy precision. The ciabatta felt like a toasted pillow on the inside, yet still had a lovely chew on the outside. The kale and quinoa salad had great intentions but was ultimately ruined by the suffocating presence of mustard. I could tell that they made the mustard in-house, but they didn't need to drown the salad in it. This is literally all I tasted the entire time, with a tinge of horseradish. Halfway through I couldn't finish it cause it was so damn strong. The avocado toast was too good to be true for $4. Im not sure who their distributor is for avocados, but they should get rid of them. Im glad this didn't taste like those premade guacs that have a pronounced play-dough taste. But its sad because there wasn't much flavor at all from the avocado. The tomatoes offered some watery freshness and acidity, but I couldn't taste them either. The chili flakes kicked in only towards the end of the meal. The sourdough bread was the only saving grace of this. Crispy, buttery, with a pronounced sourdough taste. Whoever is their breadmaker should get a big pat on the back and a promotion. All of this for $18. It's not cheap eating here, but if you order right, its good stuff. read more

Goodfriend had always been consistently amazing. It even survived and served through the pandemic. They staff were also always friendly. But something has happened to the food quality. We don't order often from here because of this but gave it a try today. Look at 3 year-old pics of the "veginator"--my go to breakfast from here. That's not what it looks like any longer. Today, GF slopped old guacamole onto this dish that was oxidized to a nauseating grey-brown; it looked awful. I loved this place for a long time but looks like it's time to say goodbye--too expensive to serve up old guac in place of fresh avocado . . . The restaurant sent a note saying don't order online and wait 30 minutes to pick up food. That premise (unfortunately) is false. We were there at 9:06-exactly when the receipt said the food would be ready. Plus - neither guacamole nor avocado oxidize this much in 1/2 hour. Love this place but quality is off. read more

I came in on a Sunday afternoon. I got the smoked ham and cheese, yum! Nice a hot and juicy. It took a little longer but was worth the wait. I got my sandwich with chips, my only downside was I thought it was a little pricey but I am a cheap-o. I spent around $11-12 but I was definitely full. Way finding... for the uninitiated, this is 2 different restaurants in 1 building. At the first counter, immediately inside the door, you order coffee. But if you want food, you have to keep walking to the back of the room. You have to pay twice for food and drink from two separate lines. Double-mint gum may give twice the pleasure, but I do not enjoy having to wait in 2 lines inside the same building for food and drink. Update 10/3 - We tried Goodfriend Package again today and when I placed the order over the phone I requested the au jus for the French dip in a cup on the side a few times as well as some million dollar sauce in a cup on the side for a Reuben. The Reuben (good sammich!) came with the little cup of sauce and my sandwich came with a cup as well. I thought "hey I should check inside the bag before we head out of the door since the au jus was missing last time") and when I looked inside the bag I saw the cup for the au jus and was happy! When we got to the lake and took everything out of the bag to eat this was my dipping sauce for the sandwich. Whoever ordered a breakfast omelette got some au jus on the side instead of their taters! read more
