Well the first few times I came in here, shortly after they opened, all excited that there was a new thrift store in the area, I was sorely disappointed, mainly because of their prices and the fact that they don't have sales often, if ever. I got so spoiled by the Goodwills in Arizona that put EVERYTHING half off every other Saturday! At this store I can get 10% off anytime I go in because I'm a senior but 10% isn't a lot, only 50¢ off of a $5 purchase. I had the impression that they thought they were more of a boutique than a thrift shop, about the same impression I had of the one down on La Mesa Boulevard which opened a few years ago. On the other hand I still go in here whenever I'm anywhere near it because they occasionally have bags of yarn that I can put to good use making baby blankets and hats to donate. Sometimes the price is more than I think it should be for yarn that doesn't cost that much new. Other times it's a great price. 3 skeins that are almost full for $1.99 is acceptable, as is 10 various skeins of different sizes for $7.99. Sometimes I buy a big bag of yarn that has a couple skeins I have no interest in and I pass them on to other people who can use them in my knitting groups. I have also been fortunate to find at this store (and the other) some khaki boys shorts and pants in the $1.99 range for my grandson to wear to school where they require school uniforms. His shirts have to be green but I rarely see green in here or I would buy them too. I have even occasionally found some little girls dresses and kids snowsuits for very good prices, while other dresses and snowsuits can be $7.99 - $12.99 even. Once I was looking through men's shirts and most of them appeared to be $1.99. Naturally I picked up the one shirt that didn't have a tag on it, a Padres shirt. When I asked the clerk how much it was she said she would take it back to have it tagged and when she brought it out I think it was marked $4.99 so I just said no thank you. I guess the bottom line is that it's always worth popping in to look because I never know if I'll find something worth buying or not. And isn't that the case with all thrift stores? I will say the store is clean, constantly being straightened and replenished, and has very pleasant employees who greet me even if I'm already walking around the store. I appreciate that. read more

This store is a hit or miss. I went there yesterday and found some sneakers in good shape, not a name brand, but great for working on the yard. They were marked $4.99 so I figured I buy them. Well, the older cashier told me that it was not marked right. I told her most of the women shoes are $4.99. She wasnt happy and went to speak to her manager, a dour woman. I could hear her telling her that since the shoes were in such good shape they should be marked higher. The manager agreed and they determined they were worth $5.99. Big eye roll from me but I dont think it was fair. It's like if someone goes to walmart and the cashier decide the price is too low and do the price switcheroo at the register. Big sigh. read more

Definitely one of the better thrift stores in San Diego. They have a LARGE variety of items. Everything from mens, womens, childrens, household items, furniture, handbags, backpacks, luggages, shoes, etc, etc. It's pretty organized in here as well and it's easy to find where a type of item is located. Although most items here range from $5-$7 (clothing) I bought all these items for about $30 1. Hollister Sweater $6.99 2. H&M Sweater $6.99 3. Cardigan $4.99 4. Black Knitted Sweater $6.99 5. Men's Calvin Klein Sweatpants (with tags on it still) $6.99 6. Vintage Tie Holder Hanger $1.99 Also got a student discount of 10% Not bad.... I'd say. This is a lovely, clean, organized little neighborhood store. There is only one problem. The #%*&!## adhesive price tag tickets they put on the items! The stickers have nine parts to prevent people from doing the "peel and swap" but they also have that last layer of adhesive that is HORRIBLE to remove! I tell ya, no one is going to pull a fast one over on this place, and no one is going to do any switching of price tags--that's the only reason I can think of for them using such adhesive price tags!! Today, I purchased a couple of lovely, new-in-box, never opened Christmas ornaments as "just a thought, just a little something" gift for two "temps" in the office. Removing the Goodwill price tag was frustrating. I could get my fingernail under one corner, but then the top layer of the price tag layer came off according to their pre-cut 9 sectioned areas (I had to peel off each section of the areas), leaving the *super adhesive* layer underneath. I tackled that with Goo-Gone, usually a pretty successful product. I dabbed the paper with Goo-Gone, using a q-tip. I waited, then I wiped. No good. I did it again. No good. I did it again, then tried to do the fingernail-scrape method, which worked a little bit. Then I used a cotton ball soaked in Goo-Gone and let it set on that darned box. Finally it worked, but goodness! That was A LOT of effort just to get the boxed ornament in a decent giving condition! With all this, you would think the original box itself would be ruined--well, only if you look closely, then you can see small scrape marks caused by my fingernail trying to remove the adhesive! Earlier this year, for a great price, I picked up a set of large bowls that were in perfect condition. The price tag was easy to peel off, because the bowls --which were all taped together-- were ceramic. Despite the problem with removing price tags from some items, I'll be back! read more

I have been buying in goodwill lake Murray location for a long time. Today I went there, I was very excited to be able to shop again after the COVID-19 issue. I was shocked to see the new prices! Omg, they double the prices. Please back to before, we all been impacted by this virus. I left the store with nothing. Prices are ridiculously high! I'm not coming back. I prefer to buy new clothes, with those prices. read more

i love this goodwill! we found awesome bakeware, a super great boiling pot with a lid, a like new vacuum, art supplies, games and puzzles, a beautiful jewelry rack, for much less than you can find elsewhere. on top of all that, Courtney was super helpful, friendly, and even cracked some jokes to lighten the mood. she went and got us a cart once we realized we had found too much good stuff to carry in our arms alone. read more

Very clean store, I think it just opened maybe a year ago. A little on the smaller side but nice selection. Got a good deal on some candleholders. The employees are friendly and offer to help. This is one of my go-to thrift stores when I'm in the area. read more

Just tried to drop off a carload of donations. Was rudely turned away because they don't accept donations on Tuesday or WednesdaY. Website says no donations on Wednesday- Second time this has happened to me where they arbitrarily add another day. Guess they don't need the donations. Another car pulled in beside me and they were pissed too stating they've done this to them as well. No apologoes or sorry from the workers either. read more

Mostly I am writing to compliment a clerk Mary Hidalgo. She was so pleasant and efficient in helping my search for the right children's books -- and in making check-out such a good experience. Well this is one of the nicest Goodwill stores I have ever been to. It was clean, organized and even smelled nice. Not a huge store, but all the items I looked at were nice quality and clearly labelled with prices. The employees were friendly and asked if I qualify for any of their discounts. I think they had parking behind the store, as well as metered parking out front. I found two treasures while I was there and will be back when I can. read more

This Goodwill location is much smaller than all the others I have been to here in San Diego, but out of both times I have stopped in I have found something to take home! The employees here are very kind and helpful; I do hope as this location ages they will all remain as prideful of the new store. The parking lot is very large and it is conveniently located in the middle of the Lake Murray neighborhood. I'm sure I will be a regular here! read more

This review is based off of customer service at the Drop Off location, around the back of the store. I like it that the drop off location isn't at the front, less hassle and a little more space and privacy. The people who pick up your stuff are very nice. She saw me drive up, smiled and waved to acknowledge my presence, then came to talk to me after she finished with the first donator. Someone came around to ask about what I was giving and a tax receipt, then cheerfully hauled away all four of my black bags. No muss, no fuss, and lots of cheerful courtesy! 5 stars for efficiency and service. read more

This Goodwill is really cool. It had a great variety of items at reasonable prices. It is a rather smallish store but packed with bargains. The staff was friendly and helpful. You only have to be 55 to take advantage of the Senior Discount. What can I say that would ad value to this review, that you the reader would find helpful and interesting? I saw waffle irons, crockpots, coffee pots, some radios, shoes of all sizes styles and colors except black dress shoes size 9, a decent sellection of men's clothes. If you don't find what you're looking for there is Big Lots next door. Watch for my review of Big Lots too. I ain't seen the little Way to represent message, so I guess I'll have to come up with a bit more info. If you read the other reviews you'll see the store was clean and we'll organized. They weren't lying. I found that to be true. And they had a couple people tidying up the place and asking customers if they needed help finding anything. If they would have had a nice used F style mandolin for about 50 bucks I have added a fifth star. But that's like looking for a needle in a haystack and my search continues. .... read more

By far the worst good will I have been to. I went here because of the raving complements from a friend but I was disappointed from the moment I got there seeing that the store was very very tiny. There were "return rack" all over the store blocking the few racks that had clothing for sale on them. Tons of old people which is not a bad thing was everything and everyone was very slow. The prices were very high, and nothing was sorted. After spending an hour in the store, and only finding one shirt I believed would fit me, I was disappointed and will probably never return. read more

One of my favorite thrift stores and this trip was really special. One of the employees left the door open for me (I use a walker) and then I was delighted to find a huge selection of kids books for my little free library. I absolutely love this place! My mom and I are avid thrift shoppers and my only complaint about this place is that it isn't bigger! They always have a bunch of good stuff, not many good tops for women, but good dresses and pants. Make sure to always check the first section on the right before the dressing rooms for the best stuff. read more
