I just voluntarily quit Goodwill yesterday. So, this post will either come off as a disgruntled former employee or Goodwill will have it deleted before it can even be viewed, but that's fine because it will be on Yelp as well. Goodwill is running what feels like a sweatshop in the back production room. I'll start with your role as an employee. I signed on as a pricer. This means that I was simply expected to price the items in the back. What I wasn't told is that you're also expected to act as a janitor with no additional pay. They have employees in the back mopping floors and wiping toilets. This is not something that's disclosed during the interview process. The men in the back room are expected to be responsible for lifting all the heavy items and unloading the trucks when all they signed on to do was price items or sort through items to be priced. I understand that's what society expects men to do, but some of these men are in their late 50's/60's and are too afraid to tell management they don't feel comfortable lifting these items. On top of that, the store manager, Rhonda, decided that the rest of the store would receive two 15 minute breaks and a 30 minute lunch and that the wares table would only receive one 15 minute break because they weren't meeting production goals. That brings me to the actual production goals as a pricer. As a pricer, I was told we were expected to price at least 400 items per day. The only way that's possible is if we had at least 400 quality items placed on our table by our fillers. Our fillers were often pulled away for hours at a time to work pallets and we were left to either fill for ourselves or have one filler for 4/5 pricers. On weekends we're always expected to fill for ourselves. The role of a filler is to sort through big blue bins and decide what items were quality to be sold or not. There's mounds of junk piled high that we're expected to dig through. The items are filthy and it's not a rarity that we'll find a large roach running around on the back table out of one of the items. We have to price items that you can find at the dollar store for a minimum of $2.99 and are told that we shouldn't even be using those stickers. They really only want us using $3.99. Everything is donated. Every week there's a color of the week. As soon as it turns that color, we're sent to the floor in the morning to pull as much of that color off the shelves as we can only leaving behind the most expensive items. The production room is hot and isn't properly air conditioned. All they have is fans back there that just circulate hot air. There are large bins of trash, so the scent is often unbearable. Things are always all over the place. The only time we're expected to have things together is when we're told corporate is coming from next door. That puts an unnecessary pressure on us as employees to make sure things are up to par when management could simply make sure everything was copacetic in the back room. We are told that we have to ask permission before we can go next door and speak with someone from the HR department which is something I've never heard in my life. They make it seem as if they want to try to solve the issue before it has to be escalated, but in the words of the store manager, Rhonda, "I take people telling me they're going to go to HR as a threat!" Management is terrible. Goodwill is a second chance company, so there are murders and sex offenders working in the back. I don't necessarily find an issue with that because I do believe people deserve a second chance at life, it's rough. My issue is that they prey on these vulnerable communities. They make the ideal production worker. They will never speak out about problems they have in the back room out of fear they'll be out of a job and it'll be extremely difficult to find another. The same goes for their employees in their 60's/70's (close to retirement) and those who barely know English. The management berates their employees. When they have an issue with an employee they have no problem addressing it in front of everyone. The proper way would be to pull the associate to the side or the office and explain their errors and provide them with ways they could improve. The production numbers are all off. They'll write your numbers down based on how many stickers were printed without ever seeing whether all of those stickers were actually placed on that amount of items. Then they'll yell at the ones who produce low numbers even though those are the more realistic ones given the fact the fillers are pulled away all day. The place is an absolute shit show. Rhonda is a lazy store manager that passes off the majority of her responsibilities to management below her and Sandra is an absolute bully, she needs to be investigated. Just last week several employees from the back room requested a transfer to a different location because of their treatment. I am the 5th employee to leave the SOBT location voluntarily in 2 weeks. read more

I guess it's a good place for clothing articles but not so much for housewares etc. I scored some cute Loft pieces perfect for fall weather. this one is the mother ship. even more than the regular store. and the services site nearby is helpful for select people. plenty of every thing: the outlet store relocated some time ago. entry and exit okay. the color of the week is tops! be prepared for steady busy action. There is a regular Goodwill store at this address and another about a block south on the same side of OBT. It's called the Goodwill Clearance store or something to that effect. This review is for the Clearance store. Holy Moses. The place is a treasure and an experience. You know you're in the right place because the floor is occupied by a hundred or so giant bins filled to the top with random clothes. You fill a cart and pay by the pound. A full cart cost us about $15; that's like 40 garments, including some bike shorts that would have been $60 new. For those, I probably paid about 60 cents. You'll find some treasures for sure, mostly random-ass stuff (few t-shirts, for instance). We also found a cape, a fur-lined cloak, blankets, bizarre hats, and other things that were great for a costume. Besides the bins of clothes, there were shoes. These were ineffectively guarded by about 75% of the employees there, for no reason I could determine. They kept customers out by yelling at us, eventually letting them line up and access the shoes. A hilarious bedlam ensued and the employees couldn't control the crowd once the line opened. Picture a hundred Haitians and Puerto Ricans shoving eachother out of the way to rifle through shoes that had previously been paired with rubber bands. The rubber bands didn't last long, and within about 3 minutes it was impossible to find shoes in a pair, especially while being shoved out of the way by someone's grandma. The guarding- and lining-up process repeated, with little to no sorting of the shoes by employees. It was mystifying and felt like being back on Mainland China. read more

This Goodwill sits right at the top of the list of essential thrift store locations in Orlando! Not too far from the Florida Mall on "OBT" sits this large store and donation center. What I like about this one is that it's huge and not only features the main retail store, but it also has the clearance center attached. I've come out of this particular store with many cool and spiffy thrift finds! The majority of the items I've found here have been shoes. I've come out with new name brand clogs, flats and heels as well as a few clothing items. The prices are pretty fair compared to most Goodwills in the Orlando area. If you're looking for fashion items, this is a good place to check out as the shoe and clothing aisles are well stocked. They also have a pretty good selection of furniture and home items as well. But if you're looking for unique finds/ antiques, then you may fare better at other stores as this store has a busy and steady flow of patrons; I still have yet to find any of the "special treasures" I've found at other Goodwills. Hands down worst expensive at a goodwill store ever. They have these people who shop here that are dealers. They literally stay in the store ALL DAY LONG loading up multiple cart and hoarding all the items. You don't even stand a chance of buying anything because the resellers buy it all or hoard it in their carts. They stand there looking the stuff up on eBay. No one is social distancing. There aren't any carts so if you want buy a bigger item you are out of luck. Won't be shopping here for a while. read more

Holy thrifting bonanza! This store is humongous! I usually shop for home decor, costume jewelry and toys. They covered all of my bases! However, if you're looking for clothes .. they are immaculately sized and ordered by color! The prices at this store were quite reasonable and a lot of the items were in excellent if not brand new condition. The staff is very friendly. The security guard even helped us load bigger items into our car curbside. If you like to scrounge for treasures, give this goodwill location s shot! I understand they have a warehouse area as well. I somehow missed this, but seeing as I made out like a bandit there .. I'll look forward to scouting it out on my next trip! read more

We found a lot of great items at this Goodwill , it did take some time as it is sorted by color and not by size. The racks were priced at one price, for example women shirts are $3.49each which means any shirt on that rack was $3.49each. They even had a sale the day we shopped , if the tags are colored red that items is additional 50% off. Very friendly staff. Highly recommend ! read more

Jennifer M.'s review is very good but she should have elaborated a bit more about the clearance center. Frequently I will shop there buy perhaps 2 or shirts and a pair of pants and spend about $.75. The clothes are priced at $.99 a pound! Everything is in large shallow bins. The store can get a bit crowded with in one area a small aisle between bins. If you do have the patience to look you can find some real gems. Frequently I find great looking pants with a label from Ann Taylor or J. Jill that look as though either they are either new or hardly worn usually in a size 2 or 4. It's even possible to find brand new items with the tags still attached. Periodically they bring out a load of men's suit jackets. Belts, cds, and books are also sold. December 21, 2014 P. S. The outlet store has now moved to 7915 S. Orange Blossom Trail Orlando, Florida 32809. There's at least double the amount of bins than what they had at the old location. But patience is needed when shopping there. I did find somethings that should have been disposed of instead of donated. I even found a cut off portion of a pants leg. Too many things with holes and stains. Even with that it is still a great bargain if you have the patience. Last time I shopped there I left with about 5 shirts and a pair of pants for about $1.35. That's probably less money than what most people pay just for the tax. read more

For the most part, this thrift store is pretty cool. My only pet peeve for all goodwill stores is how each garment section has a pre fixed price point. Yes, some things are a steal but most things aren't worth the 3.95 tag. Simple things like raggity basic tops and such. But I did find a lot of neat things. I noticed one costumer got really excited because she found a Oscar De La Renta vintage blazer, size 12. Which is pretty neat. They furniture section was surprisingly very cheap. I finally made the trip down to Goodwill central after months of being curious and weeks of hearing Thrift Shop all over the radio. This Goodwill is the mothership of all the area Goodwills it seems. The building is massive and full of potential deals to be found. I was disappointed with the shoe area, but the amount of clothing for women and children was quite impressive. Like other reviewers are saying, there are some good brands being represented. I saw White House Black Market, Express, Zara, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, and Charlotte Rouse. There's plenty of odd looking items too, but for the most part I was pleasantly surprised with how normal most of the clothes were. It's fairly well-organized too for how much is there. The as-is section is a whole other adventure. If you leave the boutique area (the giant section) you'll find a smaller area with bins of clothes. The clothes in here were a bit more questionable in style, but nothing was dirty and I didn't run into any issues with foreign objects making appearances. My one caution is to not get caught up in the excitement when they fill the bins with new clothes. If you're into jostling for a spot, running around and grabbing everything you can, go for it. If you're just there to see what's up, it's easier to follow the pack in and go through the bins at your leisure. I ended up with pants that fit well-enough, a couple sweaters, a couple shirts, and a purse, as well as 8 baby onesies for a friend, so it's definitely worth your while to check it out. The manager at the Fern Park store refused to open the door at 8:55 to receive items that I was donating. I had to call the store and let them know that I left the items at the door, and I did not appreciate, her, the person in the back at the receiving door, which she did confirm was her, the manager, gesturing that they were closed. I had to remind her that I was donating items that paid HER salary, not mine, and the store was not closed. She was apologetic; however, I'm saving to donate to the Boys and Girls Club Thrift Store from now on. I wish she would have done it early when I literally had 3 full van-loads of clothing and other items to donate. This place is completely dominated by a group of women that are there every single day from open to close. They are hardcore! All you can do is just pray they accidentally look over something that us worth buying so you can snatch it up! This is a massive Goodwill so if you are planning to hit more than one department, it's good to allocate some time to spend here! They have a lot of clothing for women and men, a large shoe section, housewares, and furniture. Clothing is organized by type/color, but not by size. Usually busy on the weekends, but not to the point where you can't easily browse. Friendly staff, easy parking and the checkout lines are typically not too bad. read more

This is the largest Goodwill store I've seen. But if you're looking for clothes, don't bother. They group their clothes by color rather than size, so if you're looking for your size you have to look at every single item in the store, A BIG WASTE OF TIME! There were a lot of clothing items in the wrong departments. Looks like employees would just dump whatever they were supposed to be stocking wherever they wanted to rather than put things in the appropriate department. I won't be coming back! read more

Target sends the best things here Monday-Friday at around 3pm it hits the floor and it gets crazzy! As far as goodwills go, this one is great. I found a sweet green blazer for $8 and was able to grab some brand-name button down shirts as well. Clean, organized well, and a wide selection of items (especially books) make this the spot I will definitely return to. read more

First off, the clearance center moved down the street over a year ago. (It is great if you like dirt cheap clothing and do not mind fighting with thrift store sellers or waiting until they have picked through the new bin.) The retail store is pricey. I can find new clothes at discount stores for the same price. They have a designer brand area where very old jeans are $20 pair or more. I have never found anything here. read more

One of my favorites! Hit it every time I'm thrifting. As with any thrift shop, it can be "hit or miss". But it's big and well organized. Clean bathrooms & changing rooms. I've purchased clothing, furniture, housewares & books here. ESPECIALLY books-- I usually get 3-5 children's books while I'm here. Most of them are .69 cents - 1 dollar. Love it! read more

This goodwill is a fairly large well stocked and organized store. I thought the prices were decent and staff was friendly. When we were checking out a staff member even offered us s discount we were eligible for that we didn't even know about which was very much appreciated. If you want even better deals head on down the road to the goodwill outlet or " the bins" as some people call it. The merchandise is all thrown into bins where you have to dig to find what you want and then it is all weighed at $ 0.99 a pound which I think is an unbelievable deal. I found many cool things and even found a Hudson Bay blanket which can retail new for a couple hundred bucks. If you are willing to take some time and have patience to dig in the bins the outlet is definitely a deal. read more

I've been a Goodwill shopper for years.......not just for clothing (hello....how can you beat $5.99 for designer jeans.....but housewares. I have found all sorts of unusual serving pieces there and have an admirable collection. Lamps are like $5.99 and can be spray painted to match your decor. I am definitely a "Design on a Dime" person. The best thing, though, is that you save money and feel you are helping people at the same time! read more

As a frequent goodwill shopper, I have to say this store is probably one of the lowest in customer service; funny considering the corporate office is right next door! On this recent trip to goodwill, my gf and I spent a total of $140 on clothing, appliances, and misc stuff. When we got to the register I presented my school ID and as my gf was pulling out the money, the cashier (in a nasty way) said " I can't give you the discount because she's paying". I looked at her funny because we were together in the same transaction, and my gf had both of our money. We said ok, and my gf pulled her ID out. an we pay for our stuff now? Oh no, the cashier refused the discount again because her ID didn't have a picture (which my gf did provided her license for verification). So what did we do? my gf handed me the cash (right in front of her) and I paid. waste of time! I don't mind paying full price for things here, but as a college student, money is tight and I'm still going to use the savings to buy more at goodwill. The cashier was simply unhelpful and didn't care about customers. I GIVE IT 1 STAR FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I won't be coming here for awhile. read more
