Don't get me wrong, this Goodwill location is FAR better than the one in Romeoville but this place is far too expensive. Prices in my eyes are outrageous. It does have an awesome home goods section where I found an archive of bowling balls and bowling shoes. Lacks variety of everything else. Great on seasonal stuff. read more

I shopped at this store for years. Now I'm NOT digging this place at all. Every single isle I went down I increasingly felt overwhelmed with RETAIL PRICES on EVERYTHING!! It's July and a woman's sweater (ugly too) is $7.99!! I MINE AS WELL SHOP RETAIL! Again to the manager of this store and from the whole community : this is a SECOND HAND store with USED merchandise!! I used to donate here and since I have been seeing a lot of this I STOPPED. Try Bolingbrook much better prices. read more

LOUD. If we were doing a word association game and someone mentioned "Joliet Goodwill," that is the word that would spring to mind. Things being smashed around in the intake area. (I have no idea what. I don't know if I want to.) Music blasting overhead. People swarming everywhere. This was on a Monday, which perhaps is "new stuff day," because the place was mobbed. Why I don't know, because honestly this place was a mess. Disorganized racks of housewares and jammed-full rails of clothes (out of size order, btw). Frankly, I couldn't wait to get out of here. I recently got hooked on Goodwill after visiting a friend that lives in the middle of nowhere. The only thing to do in her town is to go thrifting. The one strong thing that Goodwill has it going for them versus other thrift shops is that they get all of the stuff that Target can't sell which means lots and lots of awesome, unused Target stuff for super cheap. (and you KNOW Target is my favorite spot.) This particular Goodwill is humongous, I mean there should be lots of great stuff here. Unfortunately, I didn't find jack. I found some cute neon dress pants with the tags but they were those ones that aren't short enough to be capris and not long enough to be pants, so they're just highwaters. Yuck. On the way out, I stopped by some locked cabinet they have up front and found a brand new yellow and grey comforter from Target for $10. Of COURSE I bought it, but that was all I took home that day. Thrifting is all about timing though, and I just went on a day they didn't have anything good. read more

Had several books and dvds to get rid of and didn't want to go through the long process of selling them, as money wasn't an issue. Parking lot was packed as I had to go to the side of the building for drop offs. You go into a small room with a conveyor belt full of drop offs sticking out of a wall and it took sometime to get some service. Finally, someone showed up and took my box of clothing and just dumped it into a large box. Note: if you're planning on recording your donations for next years tax return, write down every item before coming here as they just give you a blank receipt with just their initials. How does help me? The people here were nice but a little on the slow side as it seems as if they'll hire anyone off the turnip truck. read more

HOARDERS! I pulled into the parking lot around 6:00 p.m. on a Thursday. Next to me was a station wagon, filled to the brim with...I don't know, but it looked like garbage. I walked in, hoping I could spot the hoarder. This store only looks organized, but it isn't. I flipped through a section of sweaters (XL) and found every other size (SML) mixed in. It's easy to get one mixed in here and there, but it became frustrating when I saw something I liked (pastel tweed jacket - very Golden Girls and from Marshall Fields) but upon trying it on, I could barely get my arms in. Oh, it was a 6, not a 16. There were 3 girls on registers, so I don't understand why nobody was working in the racks. I had 5 items in my hands, and walked past the fitting room three or four times. I finally approached the cashier and asked her to have someone open the fitting room. The fitting room attendant was friendly. But no apology for the ridicul-ass wait. Of 5 items (nothing ultra high-end), I purchased a yellow short-sleeve Mossimo (Target) hoodie and a white, puff sleeve t-shirt (Old Navy). Total was $10. A watch caught my eye in the case, right next to where the 3 cashiers congregated over a cart, and one of them looked right at me and then looked away. Dang I've been treated better in Neiman Marcus. I know my make-up had worn off, but do you see my hand bag? That's Marc Jacobs, beeyatch, and I can afford that watch - probably just a fashion watch from Kohl's. $3. This is just okay in my book. The bulk of the clothes are outdated, and then there's a lot of Aeropostale, Mossimo, White Stag (Wal-Mart), Faded Glory (Kmart), and Kohl's clothing (Croft & Barrow, Apt 9). You'll like this location if you're willing to spend the time and walk in with low expectations. read more

I love goodwill! I just donated a lot of items to this location earlier today and it was fine. The other reviewer who expected them to get all the stuff out of their car while they sit and wait is totally mistaken. I really don't think it's meant as a drive thru donation center.. You park and take the boxes up and if the one person who is manning the donation drop off is available to help you, they will. I don't have time to wait and I'm a diy type of person, plus I'm not lazy so I move my own boxes into the drop off center. It's really not a big deal. As for finding good deals, I have found some great dvds, cd's, and vhs here! Love it. :) read more

I love this store, they always have cool stuff, I was there today and had an excellent day of shopping with my boyfriend and mother and we stopped here and picked up some nice new threads. I found a really nice black and white striped track suit from Nike for 4.99, talk about a deal am I right My only major complaint Most goodwills have good DVD and VHS sections but this one does not. I typically go to goodwill to pick up some cheap movies to watch with my boyfriend on Saturday nights when he comes over for movie night, but this one had most of the movies I already own. They literally had 16 copies of Passion of the Christ brand new in the original shrink wrap, talk about bad inventory management. If it's not gonna sell quick don't put it on your shelves. Bad merchandise means bad shelf and product rotations. They need to really expand their movie section to accommodate for people who are film buffs like myself. read more

This is a nice enough store as far as average cleanliness but there are a lot of products that should have been thrown away. I go here for decent, gently used items yet I have to rummage through stained, worn, faded, and/or old clothing. Their prices are approx average and in line with other Goodwills, which are often a little too expensive, imho. The staff I have encountered are -for the most part- friendly. I just wish employees AND patrons would take better care of breakable items. It is sad and frustrating that many collectibles are ruined and no longer worth a dime. There were a lot of families with young children there today and many had stacks of childrens' clothes in their carts, which was nice. You can find a bargain here and there. read more

Always a fan of Goodwill.... However, if you are looking to walk away a happy camper every visit, this is not the location. Still, overall, the Joliet store is pretty organized and clean. The staff are reasonably friendly, and there are a plethora of things to look at in every department. Typically, I only walk out with one or two small things from this location, but I have still been pleased with my little finds. For example, I found a really cute "gold teapot" for $1.99 (It was also 20% off that day-- SCORE!). And, another time I found a set of shot glasses for $.49 each. And, another visit, I secured a brand new pair of women's BCBG slacks for $3.99. There are always those wonderful finds you happen across, but you are not in the market for... So, one day I saw this awesome, very clean, good condition, Dining Table with 6 Dining Chairs for $149, and China Cabinet for $149. It was so nice. Some one would have loved to have gotten this. Giant clothes selection for the whole family, large housewares department and an easy access parking lot make this one of my favorite locations. Staff is always friendly and upbeat, too. Regular people shop here - no hipsters or "prospectors" (thank God). Leave pretentiousness at the door and grab some bargains! read more

I purchased a dresser and white wicker storage chest on 8- 26 -13 from joliet store .I removed the whole tag took them to the cashier. Paid for them. Signed the pick up receipt drove to the side to pick them up and the dresser was there but they re sold the white wicker storage chest I had already bought. They said it was an accident. Don't shop there you may not get what you paid for they may go and resell it on you. read more

I love goodwill and I love a good bargain, but this location has a lot of overpriced stuff. Price things to move them--they're all donations anyway so it's all profit. Lots of items for $100 or more here--no one is going to spend that much in a place like this. Drop it by 25-50%, continue to make a profit, and make more space for more stuff to sell. Goodwill had a job interview @ the New Lenox Library 1-27-12 there was allready an 8 inch stack of applications and a lot of people. The interview was not very professional. There was no mention of the Company and it's values, and what it stand for. All they seemed to care about is that you are available to work ANY time, with no complaints. I was directly told that if you were hired, and mention anything about not being available to work, or you request a change of your work schedule, you will be let go right then and there. I know retail is not the best gig, but with all of the applicants applying, they will get a number of people to work for the $8.75/ part time jobs. I'll go there for things I need for the home, but now I feel for the employees that have to deal with the Corporate demeaner. read more

I have never been treated so badly by a cashier at the Yorkville Goodwill. I went there today and bought quite a few glass ware besides some other items. When I went up to the register to pay, I noticed that this very young cashier was rushing thru my items and bagging them as though there was a crowd of people behind me, and there was no one waiting at all. When she came to the glass ware she proceeded to put all the glassware together in one bag. I asked if she could please wrap them because glass on glass would break unless it was wrapped. She got loud and very mouthy, and told me she could not wrap them because Goodwill just could not afford to spend money on wrapping paper. I asked her if she was kidding. She proceeded to get louder for everyone to hear her. I told her to then wrap it in bags because I did not want them broken, she did, but then as she wrapped them she would bang the bags on the counter to let me know she was upset. By this time I was upset and I told her to stop. She replied do you want me to call the manager, and I said yes, all along continuing to mouth off, while I kept telling her to stop. when the manager came up to the register she told they were out of paper and I replied that I understood that, the problem was that this young lady was rude, disrespectful , and was continually mouthing off. This young lady then really got loud and continued to mouth off right in front of the Manager and the Manager did absolutely Nothing !!! I can not believe that This young lady could treat customers the way she did and get away with it. Does your company not train your employees to be respectful to customers? This girl, was loud, sarcastic, rude, and does not respect anyone, not ever herself. I am a senior citizen and do not need to this kind of treatment from anyone. read more

I bought 3 bar stools for a great price, beautiful, new wooden wall hangings for my 4 yr old daughter, gorgeous plants, I really had good luck today!! And also got 25% off because it's my BD month, which I didn't know they did that!! So cool!! Saved me close to $14!!! The 1 AND only reason why I only gave this 4 stars, wouldve been a 5, UNTIL.... when we pulled around back to get my 3 stools. The young black gentleman kept telling my daughter "oh these aint gonna fit" every time he'd come out to bring 1 he'd say it. But my skinny 26 yr old daughter managed to get them in there without a problem, guess she had no choice since he just walked away and left us by ourselves. WOW,amazing! Morris employees are 100% opposite of the joliet ones. I wish I could remember the 3 girls names from Morris GW but they had GREAT BED SIDE MANNERS! I have to say, the red head young girl who cashed me out in Joliet was a sweetheart though. ( I got LUCKY)) Hey, I've got a great idea! Why dont the Morris Employees from Goodwill have a class on bed side manners and Joliet GW employees can come to it. OHHHHH, I lalmost forgot the best part. As the young gentleman was carrying my bar stools out, instead of by the butt way he was carrying it by the back of it where the wood connects up and down to hold the chair together. And as he was carrying it out it pulled off the whole top, the bars and all. No "I'm sorry" nothing. Kept saying "ain't gonna fit" and trying to get rid of us to help a ritzy white lady donating her stuff. That's where he disappeared to. read more

They have really made some great changes here recently. The staff was always friendly, but I've noticed lately that the store is much cleaner and better organized than it used to be. The items they sell seem to be improving in quality as well. I haven't seen many items that were damaged or missing a ton of pieces in a long time compared to the quality of merchandise in other local thrift stores. read more

This locations ok at best. I find decent things every now and then but the employees don't put much effort into their jobs here. They don't really keep the store clean, they're always grumpy it seems, and they let people cut others in line and don't even care. This location also seems to attract a bad customer base, always full of parents that don't watch their kids and kids running around unsupervised destroying everything. read more

I never ever donate to Goodwill. I found out a couple years ago that they really are a profit driven organization. Their management staff earns bonuses based on their sales. That is why their items are so extremely overpriced. They have to mark up things so that they have higher sales and get a bigger bonus. On a very rare occasion I will shop at a Goodwill store but because of how overpriced their merchandise is, I am rarely willing to pay what they price things for. Half the time the merchandise is dented nicked or chipped and they still try to sell it for more than what you could buy it for at a retail store using coupons. Do your homework and rather donate your goods to other real not for profit organizations that really work with the community by helping the less fortunate while not making a profit and/or a bonus for their management staff. read more

Wow, I love donating to this Goodwill. We recently left Joliet for Texas, and had to downsize. I made 7 trips with our pick up including large cabinets which St Vincent DePaul would not take. Zack the reciever was awesome! He and another guy unloaded the pick up every time for me. They came out to everyone's car and took the donations in. They also take old computers and TVs. read more

I was visiting friends out of town and decided to stop in to Goodwill on my way home. I live about an hour and a half away from this location. I found some dishes and a bottle of cologne. Before standing in line, I stopped the Customer Service Manager, Brian and asked if I could check out using my Employee Discount number and IL ID since I didn't have my actual employee discount card on me. He said no, yet the employee behind him was shaking her head yes as if she knew that would not be a problem. He was rude and seemed like he didn't even care then came back up as I was checking out to pull a cashier off and didn't even make eye contact. I've worked for Goodwill for more than 3 years and I have checked out just using my ID and employee number at various locations without any issues. He probably didn't want to deal with it, or was just being lazy, but he was rude too. I won't be coming back. read more

They have good finds- very unique items. Their pricing is very bi- polar. They ask outrageous amounts for some things and others they sell very cheap. They currently have a bag if mixed costume jewelry ( mostly plastic beads) and they are asking $135 for it!!!! Crazy! Workers are ok-not anything too special . NEVER GO ON A WEEKEND! GW has a history of scandals where the big shots drove around in donated Rolls Royces, lived in donated Denver condos, and skimmed who knows how much cash off the top. I think a more worthy organization is the Salvation Arm but I also wonder if the SA is using its money wisely. A few years ago the news interviewed local SA big shots and they lived a more modest life than did the GW big shots. read more

I like to look around thrift stores often, and this Goodwill has reasonable prices with a pretty good selection of stuff. The store is a decent size, though not the cleanest I have been to. I have not found as many deals in the past couple years, but once in a while, I have found really good bargains (such as a PlayStation "Final Fantasy VII" game that looked nearly new). There is a good selection of books and clothes, but I wish they had more shelves of collectibles as well as a greater assortment of DVDs and Blu-rays. One thing that really bothers me is that they keep the CDs and DVDs in their cases (rather than behind the counter, like many similar resale shops), so they often get mixed up and too scratched up to be worth purchasing anymore. Overall, I am glad to have this store at a convenient location. It could be better, but it's not the worst. I avoid going on weekends, since I have seen it get so busy and loud that it is difficult to look around. read more

Whatever you do don't just rip the tag for large items. If you don't hear them (which you can't hear anything) they will sell the item to someone else. My three year old daughter had a Barbie house sold out from her she cried all day. Saying it was the worst day ever. Then the cashier gave me attitude. Would never walk in the store again. read more
