Kung Pao Chicken w/ Fried Rice Lunch Special
Ma S.

This new restaurant certainly lives up to its name.   Tasty Wok is a delightful new Chinese restaurant that offers very affordable food without compromising on flavor!   When I walked in, a friendly staff member greeted me and showed me the lunch special.   I ordered Kung Pao chicken with fried rice and crab puffs for about $10. The Kung Pao chicken was perfectly cooked, slightly sweet, and each bite had a savory, smoky spiciness.   The restaurant was quite empty during my visit, and I genuinely hope more people give this place a try. Because the food is awesome.

Their food is delicious and fresh. They have lunch specials. We sat in the bar side and played lottery games while we waited for our food. Cindy, our server was excellent! I had a special order... Mongolian beef no onion and no crispy rice noodle. They gave me fried rice instead. Lunch menu is affordable and good quantity. Had leftovers. It came with soup of the day which was egg flower. (Sometimes they have hot and sour whisky we love) Also comes with 2 Krab puffs and dipping sauce. Also had sizzling beef and scallops. It had veggies and white rice and soup. It is a clean place. Restaurant side is bright and OK for kiddos. Bar side darker, lottery and no kids. We will be back often, Thanks Cindy

Food is lifeless, you could taste the frozen on the veggies in the soup and fried rice. Sad really, wanted to like but not able to.

Chow fun noodles were a little soggy for my taste. I would try something else next time.

Unfortunately some wrap were broken so it's already dried but mostly fine The dry pot is ok. Huge amount of meat though. Way too much meat. Couldn't finish it. Can ask for various level of spicy. Typical price for a Chinese restaurant and have discounted lunch menu Also had basil chicken for lunch, lots of meat but not enough basil. More sweet pepper than basil

The fried rice's flavor was pretty muted..I prefer a little saltiness in my fried rice and it honestly had barely any salt? It tasted like plain rice with a little soy sauce and maybe oil flavor? Just not very aromantic in general.. I disliked the Mandarin Crispy Chicken the most as I had an issue with the breading. It was very thick and each bite felt more breading than chicken..The flavor of the sauce was good but with how thick the breading was, the inside of the chicken had no flavor at all once I bit in.. Perhaps we ordered the wrong items, but I don't think I'll be back to try any others at least for now. It was a Friday night so it was busy but I'll say service was good and we had a minimal wait time!

The service was good and the staff was attentive during our visit. Here is a breakdown of what we ordered: Hand-Ripped Youpoo Noodle: The absolute star of the meal. The wide, hand-ripped noodles had the perfect chewy texture you look for. They were tossed in a deeply savory, slightly spicy chili oil sauce and topped with a generous amount of perfectly seasoned minced beef and fresh bok choy. It was incredibly satisfying and a must-order. Popcorn Chicken: This was a bit of a letdown. While it looked golden brown and came with a sweet chili dipping sauce, it was not special at all and lacked any unique flavor or punch compared to the other dishes. Spicy Chili Oil Wontons: These were packed with flavor! The wonton wrappers were delicate, and the filling was juicy. They were swimming in a robust, aromatic chili oil that had a nice kick and a touch of vinegar sharpness. Why 4 stars instead of 5? While the noodles and wontons were excellent and the service was good, the atmosphere was a bit uncomfortable. The restaurant was completely empty when we went, but it was super cold inside because the window was wide open. Between the chilly draft and the fairly generic popcorn chicken, it misses out on a full 5 stars.

We ordered the sesame chicken, zhajiang noodle homemade hand pulled wide noodles, chicken fried rice and xiao long bao. The food was ready and delivered on time. The sesame chicken was still crispy with a sticky sweet sauce. Good flavor and a good amount of chicken. The zhajiang with homemade noodles was really the highlight and huge. The noodles were amazing and the sauce had great flavor. The chicken fried rice was good with a large amount of chicken. The bao were good and pretty standard. We'd definitely return.

Typically at most Chinese restaurants, especially fried dishes, you'll see a pool of oil at the bottom of the dish. This is not the case here, and their sauces also keep their oil usage to the minimum. The food doesn't feel as heavy, and they nail most of their Szechuan flavors well. Their service is always fast and friendly. There is a gentleman in glasses that is always happy to serve and answer your questions. He is always happy to pack your food for you to go if you have leftovers as well, which is a lovely gesture. They have very cute decorations inside, from lucky cats with fortune cookies in their mouths, or a painted wall with a Panda cooking delicious food. I'd steer clear from their soup dishes, most of them lack flavor. I highly recommend their Chopped Pepper Fish and their Jade Tofu items though. Very flavorful and not very heavy! Plenty of parking is available which is lovely for eating in Portland, do not let this spot be missed if you've never tried it!
