    Buffalo chicken baked potato
    Tim K.

Was running a couple errands in Winston and this place had been recommended to me more than once. Parking lot was pretty busy at lunchtime which is a good sign. Goody's is well-lit, clean and inviting. You order at the counter and then take a number to where you want to sit. They bring you your food. They have a pretty extensive menu but are known for their baked potatoes and plethora of variations of topping for those potatoes. The people behind the counter were friendly and helpful answering questions. My daughter ordered Buffalo chicken baked potato and I opted for the loaded cheesesteak. We split fry and each got a drink. It didn't take long for our food to be brought to us. The baked potato was HUGE and loaded with butter, cheese and chicken with hot sauce. Ranch and sour cream were on the side. My cheesesteak was loaded into a sub roll. Beef, cheese, onions, peppers and mushroom. The sun had some real weight to it lol. The fries were shoestring and were fine. My daughter LOVED her baked potato. It was way too much for her to eat and ended up taking 1/2 of it home with her. My cheesesteak was EXCELLENT. Great flavor and plenty of food. All being said, it was $32 including a 12% counter tip. The food was excellent and plentiful. The staff friendly and helpful. Check them out online. They have a large menu, surely something for everyone. We will be back.

How have I never been here before? Stopped in for lunch last week around 11:30 and ordered the bacon potato with a side salad. It arrived super quickly and the dining room was spacious and clean. Food was delicious! The potato was enough for my daughter and I to eat on it, and have leftovers. They definitely got busy around noon but were a well oiled machine getting food out quickly.

    Chicken Souvlaki Platter

Stopped in tonight to get a bite to eat and we were impressed. I got the chicken souvlaki plate and my husband got the gyro plate. Came with Greek salad, meat, pita wedges, fries and two onion rings. So good! I had already eaten part of my salad (and chopped it up), but the picture gives an idea. So much for right at $12. We will for sure be back more often.

    Kids fried chicken tendies

4.5 stars overall, but the cleanliness of the place, decent prices, and super friendly staff behind the counter put it up to the full 5 for me. We got 2 kids meals and 2 different loaded spuds as well as an order of onion rings. Plenty of food all for $50. It's counter service and also a drive thru, but we stayed and ate inside. The interior looks like an old school 90's fast food restaurant setup. As I understand it, it used to be a Hardee's back in the day, so that tracks. A little outdated but still mostly clean and not without its charm. The vent covers need a good cleaning though! Best thing I got was probably the chicken and gravy spud. Every bite was nicely coated pretty evenly in some kind of at least one of the several toppings. The Philly was good too but there were some bites that were just dry potato. The chicken in the kids tendies was impressively nice quality as well. I wouldn't bother with the kids spaghetti. I liked the onion rings, and all of their sauces are claimed to be made on site too! That's a nice touch, and they were good quality. I would return and try more items because the menu is enormous! Interested to try a burger next time too because they may be smaller but the price reflects.

    Fried Chicken Sandwich

This small place seems somehow to fly under the radar, perhaps due to its location. There are only 46 Yelp reviews over 26 years, 12 of those are by Yelp Elites! It is family owned and operated, and the family started in the restaurant business in 1927. The family opened Austin's Bar and Grill in High Point in 1992, and this spot in 1998! On this visit, my second here, I came to try their Fried Chicken Sandwich ($6.13), and a Hot Dog ($4.05), and as before I chose to go through the drive thru. The order was out in good time, mine was the only vehicle in the line, and I was off. The chicken sandwich did not contain a filet but rather 2 fried tenders! While a bit unusual, I've seen it before, the most recent at Smithfield Chicken & BBQ, and that was a very large, very good sandwich. Unfortunately, the sandwich here was not a good one. The tenders were well sized, well fried, but lacked any flavor, totally bland. This is not an item I'd order again. Nor is the hot dog - it was loaded with very strong smelling and tasting chopped onions. Even when I removed most of the onions, this was just not a good dog. My 2 visits here resulted in 2 very different experiences, and even though the last one was not good, I'll try again with other items in the rather broad menu - multiple spud options, gyro and souvlaki choices, and more burger options! Goody's Tenderloin Special
    Zac K.

I have been trying to find a place that has good classic southern biscuits that seem freshly made in Winston for a while now! I decided to give Goody's a shot after seeing some pictures on instagram. Immediately upon entering the place was quaint and somewhat dated with what felt like early 2000s era decorations of a fast food restaurant. There was a "sunroom" area similar to the old style Wendy's. At the counter a nice young lady warmly greeted us, answered our questions and took our order. I opted for the tenderloin special with scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, and a biscuit. The food came out quickly and was hot! The woman at the counter generously brought us our food straight to the table and picked us up some silverware, ketchup, and jelly. As far as taste. The hashbrowns were well seasoned and delicious. The eggs were fresh and well cooked. The tenderloin I placed onto the biscuit and found them both to be delicious. The tenderloin was a good portion and the biscuit was exactly what I had been looking for! The best part! Their prices are fantastic and can compete with or even beat everyone else in town! I will definitely be back!

We stopped in late Saturday morning while in the area. Goody's is located one or two blocks off Stratford Road and from the outside looks like it was once a Wendy's or some other fast food place. We were immediately greeted upon walking in and the menu boards are hanging from the wall much like in a fast food place. We confirmed they offer their entire menu with both breakfast and lunch options all day. The menu consists of a smaller number of breakfast items and a larger number of various subs and wraps, sandwiches and pitas, burgers, chicken, Greek platters, salads, pastas and their legendary baked potatoes aka spuds on their menu. The young lady who took our order was friendly and efficient and the prices are very reasonable. She provided us with a number to take to our table and told us our order would be delivered. We sat down at one of the many indoor tables and noted they also have a large patio area for when the weather is nice. We also noticed the young woman who took our order was busy cleaning when she wasn't at the register. The entire place felt very clean and well cared for. Our meals arrived and looked great! My wife ordered the chicken souvlaki platter which came with a side salad, chicken and tzatziki, fries and two onion rings. I ordered the Philly steak and cheese sandwich with fries. The servings were large and piping hot. My wife really enjoyed the grilled chicken with tzatziki and her side salad and gave the fries and onion rings to me. Lucky me! I really enjoyed my food as well and we both agreed Goody's is somewhere we will absolutely come again. They have a great thing going!

WOW! Finally tried Goody's and I've been sleeping on these spuds. First off, it's HUGE! I've already eaten off of it twice and have more left. The flavor is delicious. Second, they have such a variety of items on the menu. I'm eyeing the Greek chicken salad soon. I ordered ahead and went through the drive through to pick up.

Nice , quick super casual stop for lunch here. This is one well run ship, they have their act together. Great varied menu, pasta, breakfast all day, Greek specialties, salads, sandwiches, and their famous spuds! Lots of seating inside and outside. Quick service. I got the grilled chicken pita, packed with nicely marinated chicken. Lots of veggies and great tzaziki. My friend had the burger with fries. Which I grabbed some of her fries and those were nice and crispy. Her burger had all the fixings and was a good burger. This place is clean inside and food is good. Not sure why I hadn't stepped foot in here before, but glad to have discovered . Must try the spuds which they are known for next time!

    Spud ole
    Marissa K.

I have seen this place packed with cars, a line in the drive through on various occasions-but somehow we were fortunate enough to get here when it was basically empty. It was our first time so we went simple a potato ole and cheesesteak sandwich. I was in the mood for some comfort food and decided we can throw calories to the wind and really wanted a chili baked potato the spud ole was a great option mixing chili cheese green pepper and a side of salsa. It was a very large potato so I took half to go. The restaurant itself is definitely casual. Order at the counter and they give a number to find you when the food is ready. Staff was very friendly. They have a good size menu but I feel like I would just go through the potato menu lol. Decently priced for large portions of comfort food.

    Too much grease, start draining.

I took a chance on the brownie, as UE doesn't say if there are nuts, and I was happy to see there were none. Hand wrapped, moist, and I got a corner piece for the win. It would be a 5 star review if not for the chicken in my wrap. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was the driest chicken I have ever eaten in my life. It was truly a struggle to chew it, and it's so sad because the other components could have made it great. There was also zero spice to the wrap, despite the name. I would still like to give them another try, but this was a disappointing first impression.

Housed in a former Coca-Cola bottling plant, Grandpa Joe's pays homage to the site's history through its red and black décor. The menu offers salads, floats, and soft serve though pizza is the star attraction. It is served by the rectangular slab (about $8 per). Order at the counter, grab a number for your table, and wait for the oven to work its magic. For our first visit, my wife and I split a trio of slabs -- an Italian sausage, a mushroom, and a tomato and burrata -- with a side of marinara. All three were excellent. The focaccia crusts were crispy while still retaining airiness. From melty mozzarella to savory, fennel-forward sausage, Grandpa Joe's uses high-quality ingredients. The marinara was good: bright, fresh, and just a bit sweet. The mushroom slab came topped with arugula and shaved parmesan. Despite seeming like a gimmick (pizza? Salad? Why not both?), it proved an effective combination: the arugula's bitterness played well with the mushrooms' earthy flavors. There will be a certain type of pizza connoisseur for whom anything that isn't New York style is, by definition, fraudulent. For those with horizons broad enough to enjoy a thicker crust, Grandpa Joe's is the best of that kind that I've found in the Triad.
