My mother ate here before and said the restaurant was nice, so my sister wanted to order some food for pick up. We ordered a bunch of items on the menu and some items from their specials for the day. The food from the menu was good. I enjoyed the crab bisque. The special that we ordered was the chopped cheesesteak sandwich. It was burnt. The meat tasted like it was cooked on a dirty griddle which they scrapped into a hoagie roll. All the burnt sediment from the griddle was in the sandwich and it tasted gritty when you bit into it. I grew up not wasting food even if it didn't taste good, but this was not edible. Our experience only got worse when we realized we never received our order of conch fritters. We called the restaurant and they confirmed that they did not put it with our order. The receptionist informed us that they would hold it for us so we could pick it up. I let him know that we lived 20-30 mins away and that wouldn't be worth it. I just requested a refund for the fritters, and the receptionist said he couldn't refund anything without a manager. He said a manager would call me to resolve the problem by the next day. Unfortunately, nobody reached out. It's been a week now and it feels like such a disappointment. My mother feels even worse because she vouched for this restaurant too and it was a flop. read more

Highly recommend this restaurant for fresh food and excellent service. I had the seared tuna bowl and it was so good. The tuna was perfectly seared with sesame seeds as a crust. A good size piece on top of the bowl and I could not eat all of it. Husband had shrimp wrapped in bacon skewers and that was also delicious. You can tell it is a "locals" place and they obviously know where the good food is. The service was excellent and relaxed. We will definitely eat at Goombays the next tine we are in the area. Compared to the price it just didn't really bring it home for me. Awesome spot and it is always hopping on the weekend. This is a little out of the way place that has a local feel to it. The ingredients are fresh. There is outside seating and a full bar. I had a chicken bowl cooked jerk style with some spicy sauce and a Mango Cart to drink. The chicken bowl was delicious. For desert I had the key lime pie...best key lime pie I have ever tasted. Love this place. It's what you want in a "go-to" neighborhood restaurant. So, I "go to" as often as I can!

So when I ever to this location it was just on a whim but as the day you should always how it your gut feeling. The staff was very nice (ask for ALLY). The good was really good I got wings and some conch fritters. Conch is my favorite seafood so on a pretty lucky shoot it and it was delicious. The place wasn't super loud or anything it was a perfect place to sit back and enjoy a solid meal and watch some sports updates. Highly recommend! And don't forget to ask for ALLY! A very good very casual beachside bar. We sat outside with our dog, so I can't say much about the ambiance inside (except that the men's room was fine.) Service was friendly and fine. If a server brings out dog water without asking, that rates highly in my book. And she did. The food was good. I had a mahi Reuben, which was a very pleasant surprise, because I'm not a fish person. My wife is on a bland diet and her Mahi and rice were adjusted to meet her needs. We didn't have any alcohol but it looks like they had a decent selection of beers at reasonable prices. read more

I stopped by here for lunch today. I was warmly greeted and seated. It was about 1pm and this place was dead as a door nail. I ordered a beer and scanned the menu. I selected a blackened mahi bowl with ghost pepper pineapple. I enjoyed my beer and my meal came in a reasonable amount of time. The blackened mahi was perfectly cooked. The rice and beans were also very tasty. The ghost pepper pineapple, not so much. It was neither sweet nor spicy. I had to kick it up a knotch with Crystal Hot Sauce. Quite the cute little restaurant. We went on a Miata Run to Satellite Beach area and were hungry before we got to the beach. My wife, as usual, found this gem of a restaurant. It has a variety of seafood as you would expect of a Florida Coast restaurant. My lovely wife, Susan, had a mahi bowl that was delicious. I had simple fish and chips which were the best I have ever had. No kidding. Our friends had El Diablo mahi sandwich. It was spicy but great. Others had mahi burger. All food was great and was the service outstanding. But the topper was the Key lime pie. Not a big dessert eater but it was beyond spectacular. With the added 15% off for Military Monday, I got out of there for $30 for a dinner tonight of crab/shrimp bisque, seared Ahi Tuna (tastebuds in Heaven on that one), and a Mahi taco. The ONLY thing I'd change....would be to serve the fish tacos on corn tortillas. Flour just doesn't go well. The sauce on the mahi covered up what otherwise was a moist, tender rendering of the fish. We were seated quickly and our server was professional, and very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We were a party of 4 seasoned citizens and we all agreed that the shrimp and crab bisque was honestly world class. Between us we had seared tuna; shrimp and chicken skewers and bacon wrapped shrimp. I am sticking with my 4 star on this place. The food is creative, the "bowls" are really good with fish or pork. The bisque is what you need to order as an appetizer. Beware, it has some zing! I ate here three times in the last month. I was never disappointed in the food, not a bit. Had various dishes with the foursome at the table, and no one was unhappy. The fish dip is also an excellent appetizer. I will say that the ONLY thing they need to work on is that initial welcome. Pretty much every time (and its four in total for me), the server is slow to get to the table, even when not super busy. AND it takes forever to get that first drink. They need to work on the bar process a bit. I think they should consider having one busboy. As soon as someone sits down, water appears with the menus. Keep people busy and happy! The manager/owner is always walking around making sure you are happy, a nice touch. Lots of TV's to keep you occupied while you wait for that first drink, LOL. This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. We had a big group, 11, and I understand that can be challenging. We ordered drinks, 20 minutes later I received my margarita. It was fine. A regular House margarita. We ordered cheese curds for the kids to snack on because we were expecting a little longer wait and we had time before our sea turtle tour. 20 minutes later we were informed that they were out of curds. No option for something else and no word on our empty drink glasses. 40 minutes later, we had now been here about 1hr, 3 cheeseburgers came out for half of our kids. They ate and finished. 20 minutes later 3 more meals came out, 10 minutes later, 3 more meals and 5 minutes later the last two came out. The final meal being Mac and cheese after about an hour and 1/2 of waiting. The steak sandwich was terrible, surf and turf bowl was very dry even after adding sauce, etc. you get the point. By this time we needed to hurry as fast as we could to eat. There was no mention of taking any of it off the bill, in fact when we got the bill, the cheese curds we ordered and did not get were still on it. I don't write reviews and generally am very happy to hang out with my family and am forgiving of service being a former server. This was a really bad experience from start to finish. read more

I also had the bone in wings which I asked for extra crispy with lemon pepper rub. The lemon pepper tasted quite artificial/fake, I would change out the seasoning if I were them but it was just OK. We have been to Goombay's twice. The last time was a couple months ago. I had the skewers, shrimp and chicken Teriyaki. I ordered a side of rice pilaf. Pleasant and efficient service and there was a solo singer, not too loud, we could still have a conversation. It made the early evening more enjoyable. We will remember to bring friends here. This was our first time trying Goombay's. We ordered from Uber Eats. My son had the chicken bowl. Everything was perfectly cooked. He enjoyed it very much and it looked great. I had the spring mix salad with ginger dressing and mahi. It is one of the tastiest meals I have had in some time. The salad was very simple but the dressing was out of this world and the mahi was very fresh and perfectly cooked. My husband loves chicken fingers and gave a thumbs up. I was a little let down that they didn't have the crab/lobster bisque available but the fish dip made up for it. The fish dip comes with fresh chopped tomatoes, onions and jalapeños. Definitely a must try if you're looking to order an appetizer. We also ordered the blackened mahi mango bowl which was pretty good, would recommend to order although we felt the portion was too small for a main dish, felt a lot more like a lunch portion. Wanted to love this place based on multiple resources for reviews. Sadly it was just ok. First, and this is personal preference, they did not have any standard draft beer, it was all craft. I think all places with a bar should have at least one "regular" beer like Bud Light or something. We started with the shrimp egg rolls, we both agreed we wouldn't know they had any seafood at all in them if we hadn't read it on the menu. Mostly shredded cabbage. We both ordered bowls for our entree. They were mostly rice and little else. I had shrimp and what little shrimp there was, was good. The spicy remoulade mostly just tasted like ranch with some spices in it. Maybe a tablespoon of black beans on top of an abundant portion of rice. The plantains were good. There was nothing awful about our meal but nothing better than mediocre either. I'd say we won't likely be back. read more

Despite the fact it's looking a little worse for wear, the food was good, the service was great and they are dog friendly on the patio.
