Sweet potato soup with Brussel sprout leaves. Pretty good!
    Susie D.

Ok, ya know what, this wasn't bad at all. In fact, it was pretty darn good. If I sound surprised, it's because I am! Here I am coming in with preconceived notions that it'd be overpriced and flavorless. But it's not! The sweet potato soup was tasty and exactly what I was looking for at the time. The side of Brussels is misleading because it's really just a few crispy leafs, but there were a lot more mushrooms than I expected, so that was nice. Served me right.

I'm a Gluten Free girl (not by choice) it's, but then I found Goop Kitchen! So flip'n grateful! I get UberEats from this location about 4+ times a week, so this review is long overdue. With complete honesty, and an absorbent amount of taste testing, I can say the food is absolutely fantastic! My order has ALWAYS been correct and arrived in one piece. It's healthy, it's beautiful, it's fresh, it's all gluten free, it's SO good! Today there were a couple new "Fall" options. I tried the Fall Classic Pizza. It has shaved squash on it. OMG. It's the most delicious pizza I've ever had! The crust is thin, the squash is super thin and beautiful (how am I talking about squash like this?), and there's white sauce instead of red. The flavor is crazy good! The fall pumpkin bread is unbelievable too. All gluten free. You can't go wrong with anything here. I've tried it all! Thank you Goop Kitchen for making my meals yummy and fun again!

Ospi is a bit more Americanized, and they do that very well. Spacious and gets crowded, so a reservation is a good idea. Fun cocktails and a variety of wines to choose from, if you're so inclined. The Chef's Negroni is a soothing, smoky and somewhat sweet cocktail that starts with cathedral mezcal. I loved it. We ordered a several dishes - and let's start by saying you must try the ricotta. 'Whipped cheese, sea salt' does not do it justice, but it's wonderful and perfect to share. The Beef Tartare is another winner, served with crispy potato and parm. It's pretty huge, and rich, and conveniently cut into pieces for easy sharing. The crunch potato chips on top are a nice finish. A creative take on a classic, purists might wonder what's going on, until they taste it. The Caesar is huge and great to share, too, as well as the Crispy Rhode Island Calamari. These are more in the department of comfortable staples, but are delicious crowdpleasers, nonetheless. Of the entrees we ordered, everyone seemed to like mine the most: Malloreddus (bbef cheek, ragu napoletano, thyme, toscano). It sounded a bit quirky, but inviting. The server gave it a bit thumbs up, so I'm glad to have ventured this way. Served over the small pasta pieces that you can watch being made closer to the front of the restaurant. The Lemon Tagliolini features lobster 'fry diavolo', basil and pistachio. Not too spicy, and the lobster and pasta were perfectly cooked. The cannelloni was perhaps the one entree that, while good, did not rise above 'just fine'. Perhaps the flavors were a bit toned down that night, or maybe overwhelmed by the gorgeous Sorrentina blanket of mozzarella, tomato sauce and basil. Dessert was good, and the DIY affogato was delicious. Noteworthy service, and a friendly sometimes boisterous energy in the restaurant help make for a fun dining experience.

The Margheroni pizza was excellent, featuring an ultra-tangy tomato sauce with a lot of bite, though my pepperoni pie could have used more slices of pepperoni. Because they only sell whole 18" pies, you'll want to have family or friends to share in the goodness. While there are a few picnic tables on-site, most people opt for takeout. There is a slight wait if you walk up, but they accept same-day orders over the phone for a specific pick-up time so it's ready when you arrive. The place is small so if you want to do a walk in be prepared to wait, but the wait is honestly so random. One time I got in 25 minutes later and next time 45 minutes. First time, I got takeout and was honestly disappointed. The pizza got cold during the 12 minute walk back to my apartment and it just didn't hit the same because it wasn't fresh. Second time, we did a walk-in on a Sunday and somehow got really lucky. Waited about 20 minutes at a nearby coffee shop because of cancellations. We got the Margherita special and Ruti's pizza, and both were out of this world. Especially the Margherita special... this is hands down my favorite pizza i've tried in LA. I tend to gravitate toward classic flavors and they did everything right with this one. The crust alone... probably the best Neapolitan dough I've had in my life. It's pillowy, soft, slightly chewy, and just has that perfect structure. Only thing to note is their pizzas are VERY floppy. Like... really floppy. So if that's not your thing, you might not love it as much. Ruti's pizza is a white base with soppressata, fresh arugula, and hot honey. The sweet and spicy combo worked really well, super balanced and not overwhelming. We also got the tricolor salad which was a great starter. Very fresh, bright, and tangy from the lemon dressing. It cuts through the heaviness of the pizza perfectly. Third time, we did another walk-in on a Saturday around 2:30 PM and got seated within 30 minutes. At this point I'm convinced I just have good luck with the wait times!! We ordered the mala lamb sausage, diavola, bianca, and tiramisu. My favorite this time was the bianca. It was lighter and acted as a really nice palate cleanser between the heavier pizzas. You can actually taste the lemon in it, which surprisingly I loved on pizza. Only thing is you have to eat it fast because once it cools down, the cheese solidifies pretty quickly. The mala lamb sausage is definitely a crowd favorite, but not my personal favorite.... It leans heavier and the lamb flavor comes through pretty strong. If you like bold flavors you'll probably love it, but I personally prefer something more classic and clean like the margherita or the bianca. The diavola was solid. The soppressata brought the right amount of spice and everything felt really balanced. And the tiramisu... I will always get this if I have room for dessert. It's a good portion size!! The three of us shared it after already eating three pizzas (and still had 3 slices leftover) and we were completely stuffed. I would come back again for the Margherita special and the tiramisu alone.

Appetizers: Focaccia (sfincione) - 5/10 (GF rating 4/10) Super greasy, like, very. Make sure to ask for extra olive oil on the side, as that does make it better as they do have delicious olive oil. The bread seems like it's also cooked in olive oil, but frankly if they made their bread and had olive oil on the side it would've been much better. The bread itself though, ugh that whole bottom was wet in oil. Super unfortunate. Solid but oily as heck. Rice Croquettes (suppli in Bianco) - 5/10 (GF rating 2/10) Forgettable. Nothing special, no sauce paired with it. They're mediocre. I wouldn't get this again. Mains: Lamb Ragu (malloreddus) - 9/10 (GF rating 7.5/10) Extremely tasty. Pasta was very well cooked, lamb meat was perfect, as goes for the cheese on top and the sauce. Amazing meal. Would've been far better without having the subpar appetizers beforehand. Cheese and pepper pasta (cacio e Pepe) - 5/10 (GF rating 6.5/10) Non meat pastas aren't my thing, so take my rating with a grain of salt, as I would never get this myself. Girlfriend thought it was wayyyy too peppery, but that the pasta were cooked very well). Dessert: Panna Cotta - READ BELOW The panna cotta as a whole - disgusting. Jam on top was awfully bitter, quite literally inedible. The crouton like things were whatever. The panna cotta itself, as in only the white part, VERY good. After painstakingly doing our best to scrape off the jam, we were able to get to the base, and that itself tasted great (bar getting even a hint of the syrupy jam flowing into your bite). Service was fine. Didn't care for the ambiance.
