When a world renowned caliber chef opens his restaurant in a big city like Chicago it will definitely create a buzz. We went to this restaurant today to see what the hype was all about and overall we had a great experience. Our reservation was at 7 pm and we got seated at our table in 5 minutes with menus even though the restaurant was packed. The waitress was extremely nice and recommended the top items to us and answered all of our questions. We ordered the following items: 1.) Street Corn Dip - super yummy and unique:10/10 2.) Hellfire Chicken Wings - don't even need ranch or blue cheese dip!:10/10 3.) Hell's Kitchen Burger - The signature burger: 8/10 4.) Southern Yardbird - This comes with a chicken patty: 8/10 5.) After making some genuine small talk, she helped us with the beer options and then once we decided on our meals, she inquired about any dietary restrictions! They told me 30 to 40 minutes and I got called after about 20 which was good. No surprise everything here is à la cart, including the french fries. I ordered a burger, medium rare, and it came out medium. The burger was good and a nice size and seasoned well. I ordered the farmers burger which also had an egg and bacon on it and it was $16 which I thought was reasonable for a Gordon Ramsay restaurant. The hostess was very attentive and efficient. My server was fair, and one of the burgers did not come out cold, and she said they would have to remake it rather than just warm it up a little which was unusual. I got the celebration burger and truffle parmesan fries on the side. The celebration burger was a bit messy but an excellent burger with a lot of different flavors melding together. The truffle parmesan fries were really good and a large portion. They came with a sauce that was good and some ketchup. They also have a really good beer selection with a bunch of local options as well, which was really nice. The service was excellent, and our waiter actually moved our table so that we could watch the game, which was great. Asked the serve if it was premade and he said yes and offered a fresh one. When I got to the end of the shake it was like a tbsp of granulated sugar. Not melted at all. Nothing like the first time. At first it seemed nice but there was a man who was holding his crotch at the entrance and standing in the way of the revolving doors. He moved out of the way but then snapped at me and said to "get my ass in there." He entered after us and then proceeded to walk around the tables and ask customers for their half-finished food. Two women who were trying to enjoy their wine seemed very startled. The person at the front was not trained for this and was seating people. He eventually left but not a great start. For some reason it seemed like the place was understaffed and overstaffed at the same time. It's hard to get reservations but the place was nearly empty when we went. I got a crème brûlée shake and the top could use a longer toasting. Lots of sugar grains at the top and the rest of the milkshake was underwhelming. Burgers were fine but honestly I've had better at Cheesecake Factory and for the same price, you might as well eat at Bavette's. Fries were a good portion but needed salt and maybe some extra time frying. It seemed like they ran out of salt. Or the kitchen could use a brush up on seasoning things. The onion rings look so promising but I don't think had a grain of salt even wink at it. Burger also was super under seasoned. Oh wait they don't run out of salt because I asked for some and they laboriously pored some into a cup for me :) The service was great though. Very nice staff. The waiter came up and knew EVERYTHING about the menu and drinks available and was really helpful about it. He was probably one of the best waiters I've had in a while. I decided to get the "idiot" burger. It was a beef braised rib burger that was so perfectly done. The ribs were properly cooked to medium-ish and were very flavorful. Also, everyone's burger at the table was perfectly cooked. I could see the proper color, and they all spoke really well of their food. I had one of their rotating drafts from a local brewery, the octoberfest. It did not disappoint. We just sat there and enjoyed the food and drinks in their really cozy chairs. After a long day at a trade conference they felt like LazyBoys! It appears like their menu rotates with new stuff, so there is always different foods to try. Additionally, it was a reasonable price (for Chicago) and I will come back for sure. Try this place! read more

For me, this is a 5 star restaurant. For what it is, a burger shop. This is truly street, and American food elevated. I've been here 3x, for what you see in the photo, we spent $106. The service is impeccable, it should be because Ramsey could show up any minute lol The ambiance is nice for a lunch, and a nice dinner for kids even. The burgers are fantastic, pretty big and size, so store up an appetite before you go. There's nothing I've eaten here that i didn't like. I was very surprised at how abysmal the food was. We had a simple meal. Onion rings. Which were so greasy they were pretty much inedible and Parmesan cheese? Went to try the new Gordon Ramsay burger place in River North! We split the nachos (on kettle chips which was fun) and onion rings for an appetizer. I liked both, but they didn't blow me away. For the dinner, I subbed the chicken patty on the Euro burger and got the burger that had goat cheese, arugula, truffle aioli, and sun dried tomatoes. It was really good! I would have preferred a burger bun without sesame though. I also got a cocktail and it was fine. Overall, it was good, but extremely pricey imo. Fries did not come with the burger (& were $10) which felt cheap to me. I don't think I'd go back, because I can get food similar for 20 dollars less. It was 215 for a group of 4 which is overpriced. In utter shock that a burger this mediocre is $17. The bun was soggy, the meat was room temperature, and the egg was over cooked for my farmhouse burger. Fries are $7 and they were only decent. The quality of food truly was appalling. No wait if you can find room at the bar. The server was nice, but overall service was minimal at best - not the bartender's fault, but he was the only one making drinks for the entire restaurant. It had a very strong vinegar taste, and then I ate it with bleu cheese (which I don't usually like) and the pairing was really good. I was surprised! Worth a try. Hell's Kitchen burger was all right. The meat didn't have much flavor and I wasn't a fan of the roasted jalapeños and tomatoes. I think try a different burger from the menu. The shakes were great but just had a lot of whipped cream. The Oreo crème brûlée was my favorite and satisfied my sweet tooth. The strawberries and crème (featured shake) was all right, just not as sweet. 3.5/5 stars because this place is supposed to have good burgers and I thought it was just okay. Paid $80 pretax for 3 less-than-mediocre burgers and a DIY salad. We set reservations for 2pm on Memorial Day and we're seated promptly without waiting too long for waiter, which was great. All downhill from here. We ordered The Hell's Burger ($18), Forest Burgee ($18), and Vegan Burger ($19) and a Hellsfire chicken salad ($18). We requested the have the chicken on the side so even the vegetarian can enjoy the salad, and we asked our waiter what the Vegan patty was made of and he told us black bean patty. Great! Well... I spoke too soon. There was quite a wait for our food to arrive and there was hardened leftover food from our eating utensils from previous use! Our salad arrived the same time as our burger and the burgers were not hot (a little less than room temp). The buns looks squished and the burgers were so small! The cheese were transparently thin, and the Vegan Burger's bean patty? Turned out to be Beyond patty and the chef's ability to flavor it to mask that commonly known beyond patty distinct funky taste, was at zero. It tasted so bad for $19. The meat burgers tasted dry and subpar, very thin, like microwaved and sitting for some time - a $10 burger king burger is larger and juicer than these! Then comes the salad. So on the website menu they show you a chopped salad with grilled chicken on top. Ours literally came as this: 3 heads of romaine lettuce with whole core and root in a pasta bowl. I was so confused with how to eat it, and I tried cutting it up with the only utensil given... a butter knife. That's right, a butter knife. Needless to say, I hacked away at the salad and had much of it flying on the table. The best part of the whole meal was the grilled chicken on the side from the salad. I would never come back to this place or refer others to come, unless it's to take photos outside, and maybe have a shake (i'm assuming you can't go wrong with that!). If they had a grilled chicken sandwich/burger option from the salad), then i'd take a second go at it, otherwise don't come to this tourist trap. I then looked up the menu to see what the hell I ordered. I expected with roasted jalapeños this thing would pop, but no luck. The toppings were bland and the burger had little to no flavor. Didn't seem to be seasoned at all. Avocado still had the pit stem on it. Best part of the burger was the bun. Fries came back, hot this time, but not that good. Simple Fare, Fancy Prices Gordon Ramsey Burger was overall good. I sat at the bar, and the bartender was very friendly and welcoming. They did seem a bit overwhelmed with the bar seating at about 75% capacity. I had the wings & fries, both of which were good. The wings had a nice spice to them, and the fries came with the first homemade ketchup that I've ever enjoyed. The menu included a variety of burgers & Americana-ish foods. He seated us right away and was happy to answer questions. I over heard the wait time was an hour with no res. The inside is nice and modern. It was a bit cold though. My hubby and I shared "Hellfire Wings" as a snack and both had a "Farmhouse Burger" and fries to share. Every single thing was absolutely DELICIOUS!!! The wings had a good kick to them but not as bad as they sound. Very tangy and tasty. The burgers are so damn good!!! Seasoned to perfection and the quality of beef is top notch. I have honestly never had a burger that good in my life. It hits on all cylinders. The fries are a great companion and are shareable. Even the house made ketchup is good!
