The burgers here at Gordon's were phenomenal. When I heard Gordon Ramsay had a restaurant downtown. I was excited to come and try one of the burgers on the menu. I ordered the ABC Burger - avocado, bacon, minus the cheese for me, lettuce and roasted tomato. My brother ordered the Hell's Kitchen Burger and he loved it. Pepper Jack Cheese, applewood-smoked bacon, sriracha aioli, tomato-jalapeño jam, mashed avocado. Our server was attentive and kind. They even bring you out a small complimentary milkshake on your birthday. Full Bar that serves cocktails. Burgers,fries soup, salads and other hand held food. Delicious milkshakes and desserts. I was on a work trip to Chicago and on our last evening there we decided to hit up Gordon Ramsey's burger spot since we have hear amazing things about it! I'm also a huge fan so this was a plus. We were greeted and sat right away, everyone from the host to our waitress was absolutely top notch amazing! Two of my coworkers got the hotdog and said it was delicious but they were wondering why the relish was so bright green as it if had good coloring which if it did, that would suck! Does it? Can anyone say? The burgers we got were absolutely delicious and I could have gotten another one if I wasn't already stuffed. My favorite dish however was the short rib nachos! I could eat that for days! Drinks were strong and good which is a plus. The entire restaurant was casual, didn't smell bad, and sitting by the window to people watch was fun! Ramsay sold out. Worst dining experience I can remember. I was excited to go, but the food was horrible and overpriced and the server was very inattentive. The idiot burger was cold and barely had any meat on it. Meat to bread ratio was totally off. Nobody bothered to ask me how it was. so I wound up eating it because I was hungry. The server would quickly walk by from a distance and give me a thumbs up and then continue on her day without coming over to me. I had to call out multiple times to get someone's attention to get a napkin because nobody bothered to put a place setting at my seat. It was $50 for a burger, fries, and a beer. I live in Manhattan and that is steep even by my standards. I would have happily paid if it was worth it, but this felt like straight up robbery. I fell for the tourist trap. I'm a fan of Ramsay's and figured anything with his name on it would have some semblance of high standards, despite not being fine dining in this case. I've been debating on how to present my experience at GR Burger. I'm a huge Gordon fan - all of his shows are my guilty pleasure when I miss my 15 years in the service industry. Something that permeates each TV show is Gordon shouting "standards" and I think that's where the restaurant missed the mark. While my experience was on a Friday during peak times, the restaurant was not busy. The table was not given bar mats as seen in other reviews. The server was expeditious in taking drink orders and explaining the special of the month, a midwestern classic Juicy Lucy for $20. Two of my party of 3 enjoyed the cocktail program, however the beer part of the program was not clear as to what is available besides Stella. Now here's where things get a little complicated, I order the Hell's Kitchen burger, my friend the ABC, and my other friend the Juicy Lucy. Our server explained how Juicy Lucies are cooked (more well to melt the inner cheese) and our regular menu burgers were ordered mid-rare. I always cut into my burger to check and both permanent menu items were raw. (Believe me, I know this sounds silly due to Gordon's famous "it's rawr" outbursts.) I did not take a photo of the burger cut, but I did my knife with raw meat on it. I felt a bit taken aback at the server being a little argumentative about what "medium rare" means. Yes, it is red to dark pink in the middle, but he tried to suggest I wanted medium well. Trust me, I don't. It was unfortunate that a restaurant primarily dealing in burgers doesn't know ground meat temperatures. I thought out of anywhere, I could order mid-rare at a restaurant that specialized in burgers and beared the name of our favorite screaming blonde and his standards. The burgers were replaced and a round of drinks was taken off once the bill came, but the service was just odd. Trust me, the comped round was nice, but the manager didn't mention that when he dropped the refired burgers and that was just odd to not mention this nice thing the restaurant did. The amount of fries ($7) and onion rings ($12 for FOUR) were delicious but felt meager as "shared sides". We were a group of three and only got one onion ring each. Played paper, scissors, rock for the last one. The burgers really were lovely and the bun had a toothsome bite that most places get wrong. I always give the benefit of the doubt, and I would like to come back as the tomato jalapeño chutney on the Hell's Kitchen burger is absolutely incredible. I didn't realize my first HK burger was also missing the avocado. I do recommend diners to double check the menu to make sure all toppings are present. My only advice for staff training going forward is that servers know meat temperatures and the kitchen can cook the patties correctly the first time since the focus is burgers. Definitely thought this would be a bit of a tourist restaurant because it's a celebrity chef places- but I was very surprised at how wrong I was! Definitely a more casual spot for when you don't feel like spending a few hours at an upscale sit-down. Our server, Alyse, was wonderful and super attentive. Alyse helped us pick out the special (was the French Onion Burger when we went) and it was a great choice. The burgers had very soft and flavorful buns- which, I feel like a lot of Chicago places have buns almost feel stale with how stiff they are- not here! The burger itself was cooked exactly how i requested (medium rare), VERY well seasoned, and the toppings were plentiful and the textures were amazing. Would definitely come back for another casual dinner. My guest needed to catch a flight and without even requesting to speed up the food, we were comfortably finished within 45 minutes. This was our first time at the Gordon Ramsay burger spot. The service was the service was mediocre, but she was extremely nice. However, let's talk about the burgers. My partner had the hell's burger or whatever it's called and I had the burger with blue cheese. the burgers are just OK but they were extremely bland and lackluster. We live in Chicago and just wanted to try it. Will we ever go back because we both ended up with terrible stomach aches. I would not recommend this place due to the fact it's just l it's overpriced and the burgers are just average. I had the truffle fries which weren't that great either but I was hungry. Just some Parmesan slapped over them and they were like a little stubs left in the bottom of the fryer. She had the onion rings. They were just OK but very greasy overall I would give it a 2 stars just not worth the price and we never even got water refilled after waiting more than 20 minutes for our food and it was warm was not even hot. I have been to this place several times because my dad loves it and when he comes to town from Florida I bring him here for sure. Tonight however we got here, the host was NOT at all nice ( didn't even look us in the eye) and said that if we didn't have reservations the wait time would be an hour. ( even though there were several tables open) We sat down, I went online and was abl to book for 20 min later. We told her about it, she called another person ( a waiter) and they said they wouldn't honor my reservation and I had to wait two hours at that point. My spouse and I planned to enjoy our dinner together to this location because it is a famous restaurant and its name, we ordered two cocktails and an order of nachos to start our night and a bbq bacon burger and I chose the burger of the month: Forest Burger with swiss, mixed mushrooms, fried egg, arugula, porcini aioli, both orders MEDIUM well. But unfortunately the server was VERY mediocre, they served the nachos first and the two cocktails NADA, we asked the waitress about our cocktails and she approached to the bar but the cocktails were NOT ready, then after an addition period of time we received the two cocktails and for our surprise the "TROPIC THUNDER" cocktail was served HALF EMPTY in a small martini glass, in comparison with other restaurants that serving very well and generous, I letting the waitress know immediately about it and she responded: "this is how the cocktail is served", I told her: I don't want it. Then after of another LONG period of time, the two burgers was served, I made the first bite, NO FLAVOR, and made other bite when I realized the meat was RAW, I told the waitress immediately saying we ordered the two burgers medium well and I showed the RAW meat of my burger and SHE responded: it is medium well and she left, she RUINED completely our dinner. Then I called for the MANAGER, the manager came and I told her the completely situation, she accepted the meat was RAW saying : " this is completely unacceptable" and then she apologize offering to bring a new burger medium well but we said We are COMPLETELY DISAPPOINTED, the dinner was ruined already, no thank you. In addition of our BAD EXPERIENCE, my spouse and I noticed a couple of groups of customers around us WAITING for LONG PERIOD of time for their food as well. We DO NOT RECOMMEND this place! Ended up trying Gordon Ramsey's burger spot today and it was a pleasant surprise! We were able to find last minute reservations on a busy Saturday for lunch. The staff is super friendly and great with suggestions on the different menu items. We got to try a few different burgers and some delicious fries. The Nashville hot chicken burger is new on their menu and took me by surprise! The sauce was just the right amount of spicy and the chicken was crispy and was paired really well with the coleslaw. The Hell's Kitchen burger was iconic with smoked bacon, sriracha aioli, avocado, and tomato jalapeño jam. The meat was juicy and tender and completed well with all the other ingredients. Lastly, we got the backyard burger which was great if you don't like something too spicy but still tasted amazing! The sweet potato fries were perfect to share and came with a few different dipping sauces, all of which were yummy! Overall, it was a great experience and I would come back! There are a ton of burger options and everything is customizable if you're vegetarian. They also offer some delicious hot dogs if you wanted something a little different. Greetings my Foodzies, the other day we ventured into the heart of the city. We went to have lunch at Gordon Ramsay's burger restaurant 5 E Ontario St. The atmosphere was bustling. The restaurant is an open concept so it was kind of loud. They had booth seating, table seating and bar seating. The table seating, seats were extremely comfortable. We were seated right away, our server Tessa was very nice and knowledgeable. We tried several items off of the menu. We ordered the Chicago style hotdog, it was served on a poppyseed bun, a nice all beef hotdog and to "old school lingo. They ran it through the garden. It had mustard, of course, glowing, green relish, sliced tomatoes, (which always confuse me because you're not allowed to have ketchup on a hotdog, but you'll put tomatoes on it.) port peppers and a pickle spear. I found the bun to be a little hard with the rest of the hotdog was very good. Everything is à la carte so no fries came with the hotdog or the burgers. We did, however, order sweet potato fries, which were fresh, and crunchy. We dipped those in the aïoli sauce that came with the brunch burger, and that just took it to a new level. We then tried the brunch burger, which consisted of american cheese, brown sugar bacon, caramelized onions, hashbrown patty, fried egg and spicy aioli. It made for a very tasty bite; my only complaint is that the fried egg did not come with a runny yolk. One of my favorite concepts of a brunch burger is biting into the burger and having the yolk run out so you could use it for dipping when you get to the end. We then tried the Idiot burger which had braised short rib, gruyère, cheddar, roasted mushrooms, spicy tomato chutney. (I know you all have a comment about this. But let's refrain.) we found this to be a very tasty burger the way that everything came together; the short rib was tender and juicy, and the weight that the cheese and the spicy tomato chutney all blended together it was awesome. One of the highlights of our meal was the Oreo milkshake with a crème brûlée topping. The milkshake was nice and creamy had a great flavor of Oreo and the best part of the milkshake was the crème brûlée that was sprinkled on the top. I give this restaurant 5 stars not only because it's a Gordon Ramsay restaurant, but the atmosphere the food and the service were phenomenal. Give it a try and let me know what you think. Came here on a date and it was a fun, casual spot in the heart of Chicago! The staff were welcoming and well-versed on the food served. I ordered the Burger of the Month, which was the Big Island Burger. I love some sweet, savory, and spicy flavors combined together. I ordered it medium rare and they delivered. It was juicy and flavorful! The fries were literally just fries. All sides are extra and don't come with the burger fyi. I had to check this place out because my partner told me this is the best burger place ever! We tried the brunch burger, the signature burger, and --of course-- fries. I really like the signature burger; the avocado inside gave it a mellow flavor and added some levels of freshness. It was really delicious. The brunch burger on the other hand was more savory, and I had mine cut in halves so the egg and hash brown were on the side. The first few bites of the brunch burger were really delicious, but the strong and heavy grease built up as I finished half of the burger. The service was really good! Food Service Ambiance Unfortunately I'm basing this on five other GR restaurants that I have been to, so forgive my bias. I felt like I walked into a Chuckie Cheese restaurant! Kids running around, nobody talking to the families about the behavior of their children, or anything. Again, I base this from the ZgR Burgr in Vegas. Which is a 5 , top notch restaurant. That is what I was expecting, and did not receive. Our server took our order, but failed to put it in until 10/15 min later. Due to his negligence, we were comp'd our meal (not impressed), and a dessert as well. We will not be going back though. And hopefully his new openings are better than this one. read more

We devoured our burgers. The truffle burger was not overpowering and perfectly balanced with its ingredients. The bun was soft, not dry and meat was seasoned well. Every bite was delicious. While one family member really likes the Hell's Kitchen Burger, which was their bestseller, another rated the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich not as high. The sides are shareable. We preferred the truffle fries but enjoyed the sweet potatoes fries too. Truffle and Parmesan fries was crispy and taste so good with its truffle sauce, which we can't get enough off. The sweet potato fries cut was smaller, close to straw like, which makes it not soggy, crispy and seasoned well. Overall we love the restaurant and food. However we may not return as often since the burgers and sides are overpriced and the burgers do not come with a side. Drink list has a good amount of options. Service was great. The beef rib nachos are loaded with jalapeno pepper and cheese. Burgers are closer to the size of Five Guys instead of Shake Shack. Some of the burgers come with eggs and hash brown on the side so keep that in mind before you order more sides. Place is casual dining and prices between $18-$20 for a burger before add-ons. Gordon Ramsay is one of my wife's favorite celebrity chefs. We've been watching him for years on Next Level Chef and Hell's kitchen. So whenever I have the opportunity to check out one of his restaurants, I love to go! (Las Vegas is a Ramsay dining group mecca - and I've almost tried them all) It's been on my list to try Gordon Burger in Chicago and my wife and I have a place just a few blocks away. The first thing you'll notice is that everything in this restaurant is spotless, and they pride themselves on keeping everything very clean. I sat at the bar and was immediately greeted and had my order taken. Drinks were fantastic. I ordered the nashville chicken and fries (which you have to order separate) and the ketchup tasted smoked - just incredible. The Nashville chicken sandwich was hot but not too hot spice wise.
