We were staying at Harrahs Kansas City over the weekend and decided the day of our check-in (Saturday) that we would celebrate my boyfriend's mom's birthday at Gordon Ramsay Steak. It is located within the Harrahs Casino, and seemed like it would be both convenient AND an opportunity to shower his momma with love and a great meal. I was happy that I could reserve a table so last minute through OpenTable. I highly recommend this, as reservations fill quickly for Gordon's restaurants, and they may not be taking walk-ins. We arrived, checked in, and spent our time at the Laurel Lounge inside Harrahs before checking into our reservation. The hostess greeted us with a smile and quickly showed us to our table. The restaurant looked so small from the entrance, but it opens up to a huge back area filled with a mixture of booths and stand-alone tables perfectly dim lit and rich in accent colors all throughout the room. One thing I love about Gordon's restaurants is everytime I place a note with a preference in my reservation? They honor it. The hostess sat us in a private corner booth which was perfect after our 10hr drive from New Mexico that morning to get to KC. We just wanted a quiet place and relaxing seat during our dinner. Now, our waiter came to introduce himself and explain the menu and offerings. Samson was his name, and we made sure to let him know how amazing he is at job! (Told his manager too haha). He explained ALL menu items with SUCH detail...including adding in HIS personal favorites. He was able to answer each one of our questions, and made us feel like all of our choices were perfect for each of us based off what we were personally looking for and wanted. As a table, we ordered the pork belly appetizer and crab cake. For our mains, his mom ordered 4oz of A5 Wagyu with the bone marrow add-on, my boyfriend ordered 3oz of A5 Wagyu, and I ordered the beef wellington. For sides, we ordered the brussel sprouts, Mac n cheese, and broccolini and for desert we shared (my favorite) sticky toffee pudding. Appetizers came out very quickly and Samson explained each plate once again before leaving us. BOTH dishes were SO good! The crab cake was flaky deliciously seasoned crab with the PERFECT amount of crispy outer crust. It was paired with a cream sauce and light salad that complimented it. The pork belly was superb! It was a Kansas City location specialty, and we were so happy we listened to Samson and got it. The main dishes came out along with our sides perfectly timed to when we completed our Appetizers. The Wagyu was to DIE for. My boyfriend's momma NEVER had such fine dining OR ever tried wagyu...where we have had it so many times at restaurants and cooking it at home. She was absolutely blown away, and so were we. I always order the beef wellington, and once again, it was devine. Each side was cooked to perfection with wonderful taste. We ended up having quite a few leftovers, so Samson took them and boxed it up for us. He came back with both our food bagged up and the dessert menu, and without looking at the menu we all said sticky toffee pudding. He laughed and went to put in the order. Samson came back with TWO desserts, one complimentary from him as it was his personal favorite. The cheesecake dessert, which he described to be perfectly sweet with great flavor. Our sticky toffee pudding was also brought out. Samson was absolutely right with the cheesecake! The sticky toffee pudding was RICH... but the cheesecake was so light, perfectly sweet and had a fresh taste that just ended our dinner on a good note. We visit kansas city often since family is nearby, and will be coming back asking for Samson each time. The chefs did a great job on our dinner...and Samson took care of us and gave us the absolute best service one could ask for. We wanted to give this another try after enjoying an amazing meal at Hell's Kitchen in Las Vegas. Even though several of the menu items are similar, it just didn't come close. Our waiter, Ethan was great. His helper, Sarah, might still be learning. I ordered a crab cake and macaroni and cheese. Both were average. My husband got a filet which he ordered medium rare. There was 1/4th inch on the outside that was gray. There was part of it that was medium rare, but not much. When I asked Sarah if she thought it looked like a medium rare, she encouraged us to give it a couple more bites and then decide. We just let it go. The baked potato my husband ordered was delicious. You know when you're at @gordonramsaysteakkc you can only whip your phone out so many times to take pictures before the other people eating there stare judgingly at the little girl eating a steak that costs more than your left kidney. Had a fantastic dinner last night at Gordon Ramsey Steak - KC. Chose GRS simply because it was in our hotel (Harrah's) and snowing like crazy. The overall meal was in the salty side for my tastes which was a little letdown; I just can't take large amounts of sodium at my age The Citrus salad was perfectly balanced with hints of citrus, arugula and ibérico ham. Delicious! My risotto al dente which was unpleasant. The scallops were cooked perfectly. My Wellington was served so hot and delicious; but also aggressively salted. The potato puree was shiny and over beaten. The carrots and turnips were tender and delicious. We had an OK experience at Gordon's restaurant in Kansas City. My wife ordered the sea bass and it was way over cooked and not much flavor to it. The other couple we were with ordered 6 oz wagu steak bites appetizer. It was $135 just for the appetizer which I thought was ridiculously high. They specifically ordered it extra rare, they like it that way. It came almost well done. In order to compensate for the over done wagu our waitress said she would give us crab legs for free. She ended up charging us $139 for the crab legs when she initially told us they would be free. Other than that she was an excellent waitress and the rest of our food was very good. I went to Gordon Ramsay steakhouse on Christmas Day with some friends. First, the good the staff was attentive and responsible with the level of care that we needed for that day. They were more than happy to take care of my food substitution based on my food, Allergy. Please note that if you don't have a food allergy, they likely will not be doing any food modifications to their menu as it is a fixed menu. What do we have well we had their in-house focaccia bread, which was delicious. I had a wedge salad, which was also phenomenal. I did the controversial thing of getting chicken at a steakhouse and that was disappointing. It was extraordinarily salty and yet also slightly dry. I'm not sure how that's a thing. Oh I also had a lovely glass of a red blended wine that was delightful and I would definitely drink more of that. That was great. We also had dessert and I had one of the chocolate tarts and that was fantastic at the end of the night. They also gave us all some Christopher elbow chocolate and that was a great surprise as well. Overall, the experience was good, but the chicken was just really disappointing. There are people out there that would say don't get chicken at a steakhouse, but that's kind of why I do it because if you put it on the menu, I wanna test it. read more

I've been to Hell's Kitchen in DC before but decided to check out Gordon Ramsay Steak while in Kansas City and take my daughter out for her birthday, as I knew this would be a place she would enjoy. The restaurant atmosphere and ambiance was all very nice and classy. Definitely a nice place for a date night. I'm not sure if I'm a huge fan of the restaurant being at the casino though, as the cigarette smoke from the casino definitely made it's way throughout the restaurant as well. The smell was not overwhelming, but you can tell it is there. The food and drinks were all great. The drinks were very refreshing. The oysters were flavorful and fresh. The lobster tail and steaks were all cooked according to what we asked for. We got the Japanese A5, dry aged steak, and beef wellington, but I'd say the beef wellington was my favorite. It was tender and cooked perfectly. I think it lives up to the hype. The desserts were also really good and a great ending to our meal. The waitress was also nice enough to give my daughter a cheesecake for her birthday on the house, which was also very nice of them. We got our drinks, some bread and butter, and oysters within 15 minutes of ordering, but I did notice after a while that an hour had passed already and we didn't get any of our food yet. Our servers were nice and attentive during this time, and we got more bread and butter while waiting, but it seemed like a while to wait for our food. We were there on a Thursday night and the restaurant was not packed by any means, so maybe the beef wellington needed some time to cook? Who knows? Overall, the food and atmosphere were great. I would expect nothing less from a Gordon Ramsay restaurant. I definitely recommend checking this place out for the experience and great food for a special occasion or if you want to splurge a little while at the casino. I was nervous about going here because of that and the fact that Caesar's pays these celebrities basically for their name on these restaurants. Our server was absolutely phenomenal. Samson did everything he could to make it an unforgettable experience. I know he was upselling us on a lot of stuff for the tips but just the information that he provided about everything, from the wines, to Gordon Ramsey facts and history about the menu, he was genuinely one of the nicest and most attentive people I've had in service. I will also note I am LGBTQ+ and was absolutely terrified for my first real date with a man. I was so nervous of all of the judging eyes and the possibility we would face homophobia in a luxurious environment but they were so accepting and almost elevated the experience just because of that. They made it more unique and took a lot of extra steps. The hostesses were so sweet and I saw them coming around and looking over at me and my date to see how it was going. It was really cute. It was a first for both of us haha. The wait was kind of insane. They do serve in European style where they wait for you to finish your dish before they will even start the next one. This is important to know because if you're one of those people that just wants things to keep on coming, you'll probably have to let them know. Also, I appreciate all the time in between each of the dishes for the experience, because it gave time to give a palette cleanser and really appreciate all of the unique flavor profiles I was being afforded. Please look at it from this angle because it is very obvious these servers are put through hell for something out of their control. 1.) arugula and citrus - the dressing is one of the best I've had. The lemon was pungent and it was tart. I was disappointed by the arugula, I'm not a fan typically, but the dressing completely elevated the dish and it was rather enjoyable. 2.) scallop risotto- my risotto was the first one I've ever had. I seriously have no reference to go off of for this but it was absolutely delicious I almost cried. So cheesy and tangy and just one of those explode in your mouth types of flavors. Just unforgettable. 3.) beef Wellington - the most perfectly cooked beef I've ever had, and the fact that it is wrapped in a crepe AND puff pastry, and still tastes light like that is insane. It is sweet but the most tender and juicy cut of meat ever. Potato puree with julienne carrots, just the prettiest dish. 4.) Sticky toffee pudding... probably the best thing I've eaten in my life. The brown sugar toffee butter they poured on the date cake is the most delicious sauce I have had dessert wise. For my date, they also gave us a free dessert, the cheesecake. The flowers were REAL and it was platted in the most elegant fashion. I cried a little when they brought it out because they just made me, and the guy I came with, feel so special. Here's what we had: FIRST COURSE An arugula and citrus salad topped with shaved asparagus, iberico ham, and a lovely lemon vinaigrette * A very nice, refreshing salad; however, it could have used more of the vinaigrette. Parts of the salad were a little dry and grassy. SECOND COURSE A mushroom risotto with seared scallops * Absolutely divine! The most perfectly cooked risotto (you'd be surprised how often risotto is cooked incorrectly). The flavor was intensely good. A huge LOVE for me. THIRD COURSE The classic Beef Wellington serviced with carrots, potato puree, and a red wine demi * It was supposed to be a medium rare, but ours was more medium; however, I am fine with that. The pastry crust was flavorful and flaky, and the potato puree was super velvety. Very very good dish. DESSERT COURSE An indulgent Sticky Toffee Pudding topped with brown sugar toffee sauce and brown butter ice cream * This is one of my hubby's favorite desserts. It was warm and moist, and the sauce was drenched over the top. The ice cream was melty; the whole thing was downright comforting. Probably the best version I've ever had. It was our anniversary, so the server brought out a little cheesecake for us as well. We didn't NEED it need it, but we definitely didn't NOT want it! A very nice, unexpected touch. Eric R. and I decided to celebrate our anniversary a few days early since we had won a night in Harrah's hotel and a dining credit to this restaurant at the K-State Travel and Dining Auction. Our anniversary was on a Sunday this year, so we decided to eat on a Thursday to "beat the crowd" and have a quieter hotel experience. I made reservations for the hotel and restaurant through the contact to redeem our certificate, and looked forward to this meal very much. Our server team included Anna and Lisa Marie, who made us feel welcome and gave us a special experience. Eric R. ordered a Peroni on draft but the keg blew so he got a partial class comped. I got a class of prosecco. We received two rolls and black lava sea salt butter for bread service. Our starts included the crab cake for Eric R. and the hamachi crudo for me. For mains, Eric R. got the prime beef filet (the American wagyu filet was sold out), and I got 4 oz of the Japanese Wagyu A5, which came sliced with a half lime and wasabi. It melted in my mouth and was SO delicious! I also tried Eric R.'s steak, and it was tender and tasty. Our sides included sauteed spinach and soy glazed shiitake mushrooms with scallions and fried garlic. They were both scrumptious! Eric R. ordered sparkling moscato and we definitely wanted the famous sticky toffee pudding to top off the meal. Not only did we get that served with brown butter ice cream in the shape of a stick of butter, but our servers treated us to the citrus cheesecake in addition for our anniversary! It's nestled inside the casino area of Harrahs which you might have to hold back the smoke before you arrive but let me tell you it's worth it. I didn't get Gordon's famous dish (steak Wellington) but the wagyu was not disappointing. The drinks were so delectable and the bone marrow might have not been my thing but the flavor was amazing. We decided to try out Gordon Ramsay Steak in KC despite the poor reviews, and we both chose to order the tasting menu. Our first course, the Arugula and Citrus salad, consisted of arugula, shaved asparagus, citrus segments, prairie tome cheese, jamon iberico, and a lemon vinaigrette. At first, I felt that it was too light in flavor, but as I unpacked each flavor, I felt like the salad was very nicely balanced between the spiciness of the arugula, the cooling of the cucumber, the umami of the meat, the acidity of the lemon, and the hint of sweetness from the citrus. I would recommend this salad. Our second course, the Scallop Risotto, consisted of two seared, diver scallops, a truffle and mushroom risotto, a reduction sauce, and a parmesan crisp. It was very disappointing. It was probably the worst course of the night. The scallops were seared and cooked perfectly, but I crunched down on sand when eating the second scallop. The risotto (which was borderline uncooked) was also extremely salty, especially when paired with the reduction. It was nearly inedible. The saving grace was that when I mentioned the sand to our hostess, she brought out another risotto dish. However, it was still way too salty. It was a shame, because I felt like if the salinity had been under control, the flavor of the scallops and mushrooms would have been divine. The quality control wasn't there. As Gordon would say, "Taste everything!" Our third course, the Roasted Beef Wellington, was served medium rare, with a side of glazed root vegetables, potato purée, and a red wine demi. Although the flavors were good, I was again a bit disappointed. There was some raw pastry dough around my Wellington, and I have pictures to prove it. It was a busy night, so I'm sure they were pushing plates out like crazy, but again, the quality control was missing. For $110 per person before tax and tip, I just felt like the experience was a let down after this course. Our fourth and final course, the Sticky Toffee Pudding, consisted of a sweet date pudding cake paired with brown sugar toffee sauce and brown butter ice cream. This course was a show-stopper. Although I wished that I had been given the option to pour the sauce over my own cake, I really enjoyed this dessert course. I would potentially go back just for this dessert. As a side note: the attire ranged from casual to cocktail. No one was in formal wear, and I saw a few t-shirts. I do kind of wish that there was a dress code of at least business casual, but I understand that it's Missouri, and the establishment didn't scream high class. The restaurant was sans tablecloths and featured upbeat music, which I felt was a bit at odds with the theme and atmosphere. I would advise going in either business casual or cocktail. As someone else noted, there is a smoke smell as you enter Harrah's. It cheapens the experience when walking to Gordon Ramsay Steak, but I was very pleased to find that we were seated further inside where the smoke smell could not be noticed. Overall, I can't say that I'd be back with any regularity. Would I try it again in a year? Maybe. But there are so many restaurants I can try instead. Holy cow! This was my first time visiting Harrah's and so we decided to enjoy a fancy dinner as well! Lucky for us, the dress code was casual, but it is definitely a place you can get dressed up and have a perfect anniversary dinner. The restaurant is well lit but perfectly dimmed. The seats are extremely comfortable and every table is set up beautifully, already prepared with glasses. Our server was pheromonal and I wish I remembered her name! She gave us an informational overview of the menu that gave us some ideas of what to order! They also have serving assistants who fill your drinks and remove plates as you finish them. Definitely a luxury serving experience! The food was scrumptious!! I ordered the beef wellington and I was happily surprised to love it with my picky pallet! I knew it was a famous/signature dish and I didn't want to pass up the opportunity of having it prepared perfectly. Will definitely be back again! read more

My wife and I had an amazing time at Gordon Ramsay Steak. I would rate the service, ambiance and food all 5 stars. The salad was a perfect balance of the bitter arugula and the citrus dressing. The scallops and the risotto were both perfectly cooked. The risotto was creamy and delicious. My favorite course was the beef Wellington. The pastry was nicely browned and flaky. The tenderloin inside was perfectly seasoned and cooked and super tender. The sticky toffee pudding was outstanding and we both really loved the high quality of the ice cream that came with it. I wish I had a great review because I had high hopes for a great experience but I don't. Lobster bisque was horrible , steak was plan, Lobster risotto was fair. It would have been good if the lobster was cook right. It took way to long for food, 2 plus hours and another 25 minutes just to get our bill. It wasn't busy so no excuse for the delay. read more
