We dined here for dinner for the first time recently. We appreciated their robust menu with many choices besides just steak. The dining room area is nice and unique with the decor and spiral design. Our server was really exceptional, so friendly and attentive. She even split the Caesar salad for us and it was very yummy. We enjoyed the free bread and butter served before the meal as well. My husband really liked the mahi mahi dish, but my chicken mediera really wasn't great and I wouldn't get it again. The mashed potatoes were very bland and the dish needed twice the mushroom gravy. The chicken was ok but needed another piece with it. The grilled asparagus was good, got three sprigs. The tap water did not taste good at all. My husband and I took a friend here for his birthday and we were blown away by this place.... Everything was Great!! Our server, bartender, the greeter when you arrive, the food and the decor stunning "Hollywood Glam" and most especially Dorothy's dress. We loved every minute of our dinner!!! We had Signature Filet of Beef, Filet of Beef, Ribeye, asparagus, mushrooms, mac n cheese, salad and deserts. We were so caught up in our meal and service I forgot to take pics of dinner. We ordered a KC strip steak that was extremely disappointing. It was so tough it couldn't be cut with a steak knife, and the two bites we managed to take were full of gristle. When we brought this to the staff's attention, we were offered a "complimentary" $12 dessert, but were still charged $46 for the inedible steak. When we raised concerns, the manager--who refused to provide his name--told us there was nothing he could do because we had accepted the dessert. I explained that we accepted the dessert under the assumption it was in addition to removing the steak from our bill. His response was simply, "Don't make assumptions." When we asked to speak with the owner, we were told we were "harassing" him. The manager's tone was dismissive and unprofessional throughout the interaction. We spent nearly $400 that evening. While a poorly prepared steak is unfortunate, it could have been resolved with basic customer service. From start to finish it was dreamy, but the star was my perfectly cooked and carmelized ribeye. When I say it's in my top 5, I mean it's #1. *chefs kiss* no really could kiss the chef! Chocolate temptation should not be missed. Balanced sweet chocolate, tart raspberries and rounded out with cream. VIP level night, thank you Final Cut! Taken care of by none other than the delightfully charming Juan, you're the best! Maybe strange but worth noting, because the thought occurred to me as I was dining, relaxing and enjoy conversation. I chose Final Cut for our anniversary dinner and it was great! I think it perfectly lived up to expectations. Walking in, we were greeted warmly by several people. They walk you into a very high-class dining room with awesome displays in cases and classic actors on the wall. Our server, Chelsea actually sat us and got us water right away. She was so nice and personable. The bread she brought with the honey butter was awesome. They have digital menus to check out. Nothing was under the mocktail category and we asked if the bar would be willing to do something. Chelsea brought us a nice warm tea to pour over ice. There was a wonderful cinnamon note in it and she brought fresh lemon. It wasn't like a huge thing, but we extremely appreciate when we're taken seriously wanting a non-alcoholic drink with an elevated experience. The French onion soup was sweeter than I anticipated and the aged Gruyere was funkier too. Neither of those notes were bad things - delicious! Wifey tried Chilean sea bass for the first time and enjoyed herself. She just about died trying to finish her baked potato. They brought it out with the toppings in separate ramekins, which I thought was smart. I thought the teriyaki Cornish hen was well-prepared, but I had a devil of a time getting good bites without making obnoxious plate and silverware noise. Unbelievable is the word that comes to mind as I reflect on the magical time I had at The Final Cut Yelp Elite Event at Hollywood Casino. From the time I entered the door I felt like Royalty (for real). A kind gentleman (security) greeted me with such warmth and kindness and honey it was on...the red carpet was rolled OUT! He pointed me in the direction that I needed to be and off I went. The next step was to check in and the two wonderful people that did the honors were just as phenomenal. Can you believe it? I was on a roll. They too were as welcoming as ever. I sashayed in like 'Queen B' & waited to be seated. First off, a warm basket of bread was placed on the table & oh my it was 'The Most' tasty bread. The butter didn't seem ordinary (sure it was a specialty blend). Yum! Shortly after the appetizers arrived... a giant shrimp, red chili seared elk loin & a mini crab cake. Shutchomouth! Incredibly delectable. I could do nothing but savor each bite as I sunk my pearly whites into each...all the while my palate did 'the happy dance.' There was so much flavor infused into these appetizers & they were cooked to perfection. I could definitely have them all on a regular.... A little bit later my house salad came accompanied by sherry AND blue cheese vinaigrette dressing (I'm quite the mixologist when it comes to dressing). Chile, this combination, umph...mouthwatering to say the least. By this time I was getting pretty full, but HAD to leave room for the main thing...the entree...THE bone-in ribeye topped with crab & asparagus underneath the steak. It was incredibly succulent & by far one of The Best ribeyes I have EVER had. I could've literally slapped the chef, it was just that good! Last, but of course not least was the scrumptious chocolate mousse cake with a mini scoop of raspberry sorbet & a dollop of whipped cream. What a way to end a fantabulous meal. Hands down Everything was 'top notch'. I had the privilege of dining with two educators that I got to know a little bit about. Thank you Final Cut for hosting a Yelp event. We had a great time. All the food we had was good. I didn't know really what to expect from a casino steakhouse. You do have to walk through the casino and there are no sign on the outside of the casino to mention that they have a steakhouse or restaurant. For me this is a miss. I get it that they want you to gamble, but the restaurant is good and should get its own credit. Also once inside the restaurant you don't notice that you are in a casino, including the cigarette smell. Which I was worried about. I don't want to be having a nice meal and smell cigarettes. The food was seasoned well and had a variety of different flavors. Like the elk with a compote and chili sauce. My filet was cooked perfectly. I like my steaks rare and it is hard for a lot of places. This one was great. It had a coffee and pepper rub which was really good. Mushroom side was yummy, not your traditional sauteed mushrooms. Pork chop was very tasty mixed with apple sauce for a good contrast. Bread very soft fresh homemade. Steak was originally not cooked to the degree I ordered (Medium, came out well done). I didn't want to say anything as I normally would just deal with it and eat what I got, but the waitress was so attentive she noticed I wasn't too pleased and told the cook who made me a new steak even though I said I would just keep the old one. With the magnificent service that they offered, they took my old steak and brought me a new one. I was very pleased and would recommend Final Cut anyday. I was not expecting to give a five star review to Final Cut. I had no reason not to, let's just call it innate bias, but let me tell you, I have hands down had some of my best meals in Kansas City here. The restaurant is formal dining, but many attendees do dress casually. I felt awkward when I was underdressed as the dining room setting is formal as is the seating and plating. I strongly recommend reservations!! Very hard to get a walk in spot sometimes, but occasionally you can get a bar spot. Food is expensive - prepare to spend $30-50 a plate and double that if you're going seafood. But it is WORTH it on a splurge. My recommendations are the stuffed mushroom caps or the BBQ shrimp (it doesn't taste like BBQ but has this awesome spicy flavor that is incredible). For dinner their signature filet is a must. Don't skip the Bernese sauce. It is a perfect compliment to the dish. The pork chops are great. It has a sweet flavor that pairs well. Sides you can add or skip. If you get them the only must have in my opinion is the mashed potatoes. They go with everything. Desert you can't really go wrong with anything. The sorbet changes weekly and is made in house. I will start out by saying, perhaps out of ignorance, I didn't have high expectations for a steak house in a casino next to a racetrack. First impression: This is some serious food. I was lucky to attend a preview night of Final Cut (disclaimer: I ate for free) and am already enthusiastic for my return visit. Here's my pitch: When you have something to celebrate or need a meal that delivers, you need an option that is reliable and comfortable but not the least bit boring. Fortunately, it seems like Final Cut will fit the bill. The interior of the retooled space -- along with the nearly renovated casino proper -- is lovely, cozy, and dark yet formal. There's a small front room and a much longer one to the side, with several private rooms jutting off for different sized parties. You don't feel like you're in a casino from within, which, for many visitors, will be a significant benefit. The restaurant did not seem too smoky, either, which addresses a common concern many have about casino restaurants. Hopefully this will remain the same after months of operation. What I experienced of the service was extremely positive. Our server, Mr. Charles, was incredibly gracious. If I were taking someone on a date to Final Cut, I'd feel very comfortable putting the evening in his hands. The rest of the staff seemed on point, too. Again, I hope the exemplary quality of service can be maintained for all patrons. But let's get to the food: I am still reeling from the humongous, solidly good New York strip I ate. It was cooked exactly to my specifications and was the centerpiece of the rest of the meal, which was similarly good (no course seemed a weak point with any of my dining companions). If I could go back a future night and duplicate exactly what I had, I'd love to -- although maybe I'd try to work in a good jog first. I have included a photo of the entree. (Although the official menu has yet to be released, I caught a glimpse of the prices and I believe diners will find Final Cut to be well priced.) The bottom line is that Final Cut Steakhouse will be a place to watch over the next few months. As with any preview experience, there's always a concern that the, well, "final cut" will be as strong as the "first cut." I am not unconfident, however, that this restaurant will continue to deliver a highlight reel for the foreseeable future. We went here yesterday to celebrate mom's birthday. It was such a lovely experience! The food was absolutely delicious. We started with the crab cakes and BBQ shrimp. Both were remarkable, the crab cakes were some of the best I've had with huge chunks of meat and flavor in every bite - and this is in Kansas! For our entrees, we got the KC strip (she loved every bite), the porterhouse (also well received), and brother got the short ribs, which were apparently lacking something and just okay for the$30 price tag. I got the seafood fettuccine, and could not have been happier! It was a deliciously rich sauce that was covered in quality seafood morsels - scallops, huge shrimp, crab, etc. Loved it! The wine list was pretty limited, and the service was rather clumsy. We also didn't care for the positioning of the booths, which have you angled so that you are staring right at a 2 person table in front of the huge windows. Not only is this unfortunate since it blocks your view, but it's pretty awkward as well. The atmosphere was much improved after said table (finally) left. The sun was setting and the sky was beautiful, and then we had a great view of the fireworks that were being shot off for the Memorial holiday weekend over the sporting KC stadium. Really memorable! The bread for appetizers here is probably the best bread I've eaten at a restaurant!!! Unfortunately that was the highlight of our dinner. The only thing I would recommend is probably the bone in ribeye. It was quite delicious however we had 2 fish dishes, lobster mashed potatoes, mac n cheese, and they were all mediocre at best! We used to eat here about every other month pre-COVID. Had a terrible service experience about a year ago and said we would give them some time to improve and then go again. Went to Final Cut on Friday July 29 for anniversary dinner. Very underwhelmed. What used to be a special occasion steakhouse has turned into eating at a place that is comparable to chain steakhouses only with Fine Dining prices. On previous visits to this establishment we enjoyed friendly waitstaff that were there for all your needs during your meal. This time we were surprised to see that there were no tablecloths, no back waiters and our waitress had only been there a couple months and it seems was not used to waiting on tables in a fine dining establishment. We ordered crab cakes for an appetizer. Prior visits ordering these here entailed a nice sized crab cake -3 to an order for somewhere in the mid $20's range. Understanding that all things have increased was shocked when for $35 you received 2 small crab cakes. We then had our salads come out, both wedge salads, mine was drenched in water. It appeared they had iced down the lettuce but did not drain it before making the salads. I had so much water it was inedible. I had to chase down my waitress as she was no where to be found and did not come back and check on our salads. I showed her how wet it was, she asked if I wanted another and I said yes. Shortly after she left our steak were brought out. I never did receive my salad because I could not find the waitress timely and with no back waiters there was no one to get it for me. (We also had to ask for silverware and condiments such as salt and pepper.) The steaks were to be cooked medium, they were so charred on the tops that the meat, altho flavorful, was very dry and cooked medium well. The potatoes were not fluffy baked potatoes and seemed to be old and hard. This was at a 5:30 pm seating. The asparagus were charred nicely for grilled asparagus but were completly mushy. All in all this dinner was not up to what Final Cut used to offer for fine dining. Not sure what happened to the nice steakhouse they had but is not worth the Fine Dining prices you would pay here for chain steakhouse service and atmosphere. read more

Nobody...I repeat...NOBODY rolls out the red carpet like Final Cut. I came here for my birthday dinner with my significant other. She had the strawberry basil blush cocktail. It was so good that she stuck with it and ordered a second one. It was a wonderful blend of fresh herbal flavor, fruity tartness, and sweetness. I had fresh brewed iced tea. The long rectangle shaped ice in the tea made for a unique presentation. We checked out the cold cut butcher block, bbq shrimp, and crab cake appetizers. We loved the jalapeno jelly on the butcher block, but the bbq shrimp by far stole the show. The prawns were colossal in size and cooked to perfection. They were presented New Orleans style. This appetizer is on point! She got the caesar salad, and I got the chop salad. The caesar dared to be different. It had the pungent finesse you'd expect from a caesar dressing, but finished rather light with what tasted to me to be a slight hint of citrus. I enjoyed it thoroughly. The chop salad was the distant quiet cousin twice removed in the Final Cut salad family. The caesar gets my vote all the way. She got the filet mignon and lobster tail. I got the 28oz Wagyu bone-in ribeye. They were both fantastic, but nothing in this restaurant could possibly hold a candle to the Wagyu ribeye. This thing grabs your attention immediately with the ape hanger handlebar bone sticking out of the most succulent steak you will ever have the pleasure of dancing on your tastebuds. I literally was able to cut it with a fork. They cook it using an infrared broiler. Anyone who asks for steak sauce when ordering this should be thrown out of the restaurant immediately. This steak was a life changing beef experience...absolutely perfect for my birthday. It retails at $54, but is worth every penny! We checked out the creme brulee and cronuts for dessert. The creme brulee was fabulous! I don't know what kind of cookie came with the creme brulee, but it was arguably better than the creme brulee...and that's a big endorsement! The cronuts were a hybrid of a donut and a croissant. They had a very nice sauce drizzled over top as well as vanilla bean ice cream. The center was almost pancakelike in flavor and consistency. They were very tasty, but we are creme brulee fans all the way, and Final Cut serves it up perfectly. The service was spot on. I can't say enough good things about our experience at Final Cut. We didn't have to ask for anything during our visit. They predicted our needs perfectly. The service staff took the steering wheel to our visit and put on their tour guide hat. They decided what was best for us, and they were right every time. I highly recommend Final Cut. I have to say I had my doubts about this place because I have found the food at the other Hollywood restaurants to be awful. However, I have dined at Final Cut three times now and am convinced that it deserves 5 stars. The servers are extremely warm and accommodating. The restaurant itself is very nice and I like the Wizard of Oz shoes and other movie memorabilia. The BBQ shrimp are the best, but the steak is even better. The first two times I went, I had the prime filet, which was outstanding. Last night I had the KC strip and it was delectable. I think they have employed the butter basting trick of Peter Luger and no complaints here. Cooked perfectly, with a nice sear on the outside and buttery inside. Definitely recommend! read more

We were back at Final Cut last evening. We had wonderful service from GUS. He has waited on a few times, and is the best waiter in town. His service is unmatched and you wont find service like his around kc. His service is like the old Savoy Grill, and that kind of customer service isn't around anymore. I had the Wagyu Tomahawk Ribeye. It is by far the best steak in Kansas City. You can't get the Wagyu Ribeye anywhere else in Kansas City. The Australian Wagyu is the same breed of beef as A5 Kobe beef and its tenderness and flavor can't be matched. This steak could be cut with a butter nife. My father loves the strip steak special, I tried it and it is absolutely outstanding. He almost talked me into ordering it, but I just couldn't pass the one of a kind Australian Tomahawk Ribeye. Go there get the Australian Wagyu Ribeye and the strip steak, and ask for Gus. He will give you the best service you have ever seen. read more

I moved here 2 1/2 years ago from Los Angeles and as a result I have been extremely impressed with the quality of steaks for the price at most places. This restaurant was not only extremely expensive, the steak was average and mine was over cooked. The service was really bad - extremely slow (took 15 minutes to get my glass of wine I ordered, and the restaurant was at most 1/3 full). The onion rings were absolutely terrible and mushy. The Brussels sprouts and lobster mashed potatoes were very good. The atmosphere is nice as long as you don't mind having your server disappear for long periods of time.
