I was in the city on a Sunday night and this seemed to be the only thing open in the area and I'm glad we checked it out. They were out of patron which was odd but I enjoyed myself. my girlfriend and i had low expectations just because we have HIGH standards for our tacos. these live up to said standards! we ordered 2 tiny taco flights, 1 side of rice, 1 empanada. 27 in total. the highlight of our meal were the barbacoa tacos- very tender with a subtle spice! my girlfriend is mexican and she says it was some of the best barbacoa she's had! the carnitas, cactus, l chicken, and fish were all alright as well. what you'd expect. the chicken tinga empanada was sooo good! we ordered takeout, but the ambience seems fun and casual. The food and margaritas are not good. The nachos are literally made with cheese wiz. Margaritas are super syrupy and sweet. Affordable but not worth it. Good tasting food, if you don't have to eat gluten-free. Really bad, when the menu is marked with gluten-free choices, you order those, and then when they realize that you need to be gluten-free they come out to tell you that what you ordered and the chips on the table aren't really gluten-free. To be fair, they at least told me. But, my husband wouldn't have brought me here had he known. Also, they say that they couldn't guarantee, because the new supplier says "made in a facility where wheat is processed." So, good caution. And, I'm usually okay with stuff like that (non-celiac still a bad reaction). I'm usually even good with "same fryer." They let me change my order, but I already ate the chips. And that may have been my downfall. I don't know if I had a gluten reaction or straight up food poisoning, but use your imagination and you'll probably be close. This place is a rip off. I did not realize that the name reference to 'tiny' meant that the food portions were not only microscopic but a poor, grossly overpriced value. The food is tasty but a 'taco' is about $2.50 and, while on a homemade corn tortilla (excellent), comes with less than one ounce of toppings (total cost of a pork taco's toppings is about $36.00 per pound). This place is a rip off. The menu claims that the nachos are 'LOADED' with toppings (from the description). The item says they they are loaded with toppings that include red peppers and olives - our order had none. The remaining ingredients were drizzled on so scantly that to say they were loaded violates laws against fraudulent advertising. This item's charge was $12.00, but probably cost less than $2.00 to prepare. We spent $80.00 on an order of nachos (only loaded with price, not toppings), 4 tiny tacos, beans and rice ($3.00), an order of quesadillas ($10, I think) and two margaritas. This was a total rip off and not a value worth repeating. You are better off heading to O'Hare airport and rolling the dice with an approved vendor... Your will get a better value from any street vendor peddling in Pilsen than you would here. Oh, BTW, the service was non-existent. We had to chase our waiter repeatedly, esp. after we said we were done and asked for the bill. Too bad. This is a good localization in a Lake Shore East neighborhood that needs joints like this one (potential, not actual performance). read more

Being a Latina, this place made it feel like home in a downtown area where there aren't too many Latino restaurants. A helpful server named Ricky attended us and the manager Jason made us feel welcomed. They served A LOT of meat in their tacos and their homemade tequila is delicious, even for those who don't really taking shots! We liked their margaritas so much that we got a pitcher, which saved us some money. For other Latinos out here in Chicago, I recommend supporting this business! read more

Walked in to Gordy's on this freezing, snowy night. Staying at nearby hotel.. Welcomed right away- vaccine card checked and sat at the bar. I was the only guest at this time. Was greeted promptly and given water and asked what I would like.. I stated "first time here", so he suggested margarita and I gladly accepted. He recommended the fish taco and pork carnitas, took his suggestion and added rice and beans. He brought over chips and salsa, but unfortunately I'm wearing braces so had to decline. The salsa was delicious though as I tasted them with the tacos. The carnita taco was tender and tasty. The fish taco was fried and a little too crunchy for me- once again, braces were recently adjusted, so I couldn't enjoy it as much as I wanted too- still tasty. It's a college football Saturday so I asked if they could put a game on one of the TVs. I was told they are not allowed to change the stations, as the manager had left.
