Stopped by because we drove through each week working between Placerville and auburn. We were pleasantly surprised with atmosphere and renovation. It was clean and organized and looks like a nice draft selection too!! I enjoyed the Barbadoa Keto bowl and it was excellent!! My co worker had the burrito and he raced about it!! Stopped by to get a bite to eat after getting in a Lotus campsite (shout-out to Riverrunners for recommendation). Snuck in before they closed but still got service with a smile. Food was delicious (must try Chicken tacos!) and Spinach salad. Great little patio outside to enjoy your meal or inside by the bar. Stopped by this place before attending an event in Coloma. My wife and I are from woodland, and we have an abundance of Taco/Burrito places where we live. We decided to give this place a try since it looked like it was the only thing open in the area. The open format and lively decor provides a welcoming atmosphere - perfect for a casual meal. There is ample seating at the bar, which serves a variety of local craft beer. My wife had a Gorilla Burrito and I had the Gorilla burrito bowl. I found it very refreshing that my meal did not taste like every single burrito I've had from a taco truck my entire life. As usual I'm only out this way on the weekends and most place are pretty busy at meal times, this place was not exception. I came on saturday night and they were packed! I mean bursting at the seems packed. Took a minute standing in line but the menu is simple so it goes pretty quick, I ordered the gorilla tacos and cheese sticks with a beer and It came out in about 10 minutes. Which to me was incredible given how many people were at the place and how few employees they had. The beer selection is probably the best I've ever seen, something like 48 beers on tap? Tacos were great ! We got the chicken tacos and burritos as they weren't serving steak that day. They came three to a plate and were very filling and delicious . I assume the burritos were good too but I didn't try them. The nachos were fresh and the kids loved them. We stopped by after a rafting trip . My only con is that they still put to go orders in styrofoam containers . There are piles of them in the garbage can in the outside dining area. That kind of stuff does bother me. :-(. Stopped by Gorilla Rock on the way to Sutter Mill, didn't have any service to check the place out ahead of time, so I stopped on a whim. The interior of the restaurant is really neat! The outside doesn't do it any justice. The staff was super friendly and very welcoming. The concept is very similar to Chipotle and just as tasty! I had the gorilla burrito and a beer (great selection too) and it came out to just under $13, great value. If I was ever in the area again, I would definitely stop in! read more

Washed it down with a Hazy Hop Goblin IPA by Fort Rock Brewing that was equally as good. not an IPA fan and they carry alot on tap but this particular one had a nice subtle fruit notes. gotta go back for more and get the name! I found this place very family friendy with awsome tacos and great beer selection. Nice to be able to work within my special diet needs.Our food came out really quick. Was surprised by the remodeled restaurant/camp store as it is now a fun micro beer bar and taco shop and looks totally different!!! The food was GREAT Tasting, FRESH and HOT with great mild homemade salsa. We had the beef tacos and beef burrito which were both great!!! Long day at the office. Came home and decided that I was not cooking tonight! Decided to check out Gorilla Rock. Very impressed!! Food was amazing!!! Chicken tacos with the shredded cabbage and sauce were amazing. The chicken was moist and flavorful, and I want to try that sauce on a fish taco now! Snuck in a bite of my friends burrito...ok the rice was crazy good. What kinda rice was that? Great flavor for the ground beef that she got, as well. House made Pico was on point. Overall 5 stars! I was astounded with the kindness of everyone there. Near over the top kindness from all of the employees. I am in love with the tacos. If I were sentenced to death and only had one final mean I would get one of everything off the menu. You could throw a dartboard onto the menu and anything it lands on will impress you beyond belief. The handsome young ginger who brought us our food shared so many insights about Coloma and what to do there. The restaurant had so many different choices for draft beer I struggled to decide on just one. Going down to the river for a quick order of tacos has become a weekly tradition and we will be so terribly sad when they close for the winter. I love the atmosphere every time I go. Everyone including the other customers is so kind. Sometimes I just go and chat with others at the bar for hours! I cannot think of a better place to spend an evening... or maybe even a weekend ;). My kids came into town the other weekend and the first thing we did was swing by and pick up some tacos. I am pretty sure I have recommended this restaurant to just about every single person I know. I will stand and die beside gorilla rock tacos. Thank you to everyone who makes it such a special place. I truly believe that it has made Coloma a better place by blessing us with its presence. We were delighted to find the meat "authentic in taste" and the tortilla's used, both corn and flour, were excellent (a pet peeve of mine). Both the inside and outside decor is "millennial approved". I really wanted to like this place as there is a dearth of restaurants in this vicinity and who doesn't love tacos? The people are friendly and service is good but the food has very little Mexican flavor. And white rice in a Mexican restaurant?! I don't think so. I'm gonna give three stars cause they just opened and I don't want to scare off potential customers. So here is my review. We ordered a lot of food, the people helping were very nice and accommodating. We ordered almost everything they had to offer but they were still out of stuff like chips and Guacamole which should be one of the easiest things to make or buy in this case. The steak tacos were very bland almost couldn't tell it was steak just off flavor. The baracoa was also bland and tasted like pot roast as well as a little dry after you cook meat for so long it doesn't matter if it's sitting in juice it will be dry regardless. Now The chicken tacos were the most surprising they were so salty it was crazy I think maybe there was a error in seasoning with these maybe they used chicken bullion to season and just went ham on it. Also most of our rice wasn't just under cooked like aldentè pasta, it wasn't cooked at all I mean like raw rice crunchy, hard, translucent under cooked I'd rather have over cooked rice than under cooked. We threw away 5 tacos we bought 6 of each. The best thing we had was the kids bean and cheese burrito that was fine. I hope this is just beginners blues and they are trying to figure things out cause summer is here and so is camping season they have a good spot and potential to be good. I hope they do well.
