Good food. We come here often for the tacos, and we love them. But a well run restaurant, it's not. We ordered beer and a wine, then hung out at the bar until someone comes to serve you. Then, since there is currently no beer list, try to figure out what is available under somewhat generic tap handles (4 were Fort George handles, but what exactly each was remained a bit of a mystery). For wine, the only white was a jug of cheap Gallo left out of the cooler so it was room temperature. It seems like it's in the verge of closing down, and I truly hope it's not. But upping its game would not be difficult, and that would be welcome. read more

Could have been so much better. I really don't want to make this review but we got a taco salad and ive never had a bad taco salad until eating here. No meat we had to order it separately. $20 later we had a bowl of romaine lettuce about 50 black beans, 20 pieces of corn, barley any cheese and the hardest tortilla strips. But just a few. No tortilla shell ,no meat rabbit food. The cups and water smelled like a wet dog. The fan and lighting were freaking my eyes out so we went outside. Outside the bathroom was overflowing with trash the outside was so dirty. There was a sticker plant in the corner dead and just waiting for a nice dog or person to walk next to it and ruin their life for a min. I was blown away by how dirty everything was. They need to get those young kids working there to do side work and clean up that place. read more

Ambience, super cool with a chill vibe and the outside is covered with bistro lights, music playing and relaxing. Food: Incredible! Chips are made to order...what?! So fresh! And the salsa is perfection. We got 3 regular beef tacos and one River on the side. Not to take away from the beef tacos but the shredded chicken in the River was stupid good! The best tacos I've ever had in a fun and well decorated environment! Keep in mind that, even though the menu doesn't say it, (and it should) you'll get 2 maybe 3 tacos for whats shown. If you only want 1, just ask. And if I had to make any suggestions, it would be to keep the bathroom cleaner (they didn't change this since last review a year ago) Everytime we go it's messy and out of supplies. Nothing special. Ground beef tacos the same size as Taco Bell at 4 times the price. Tastes about the same, too. Chicken tacos are better, but still, $15.75 for 3 and not huge. Glass of wine about 4 ounces, tops. Don't even know the brand. Bartender didn't either, and he poured it! Don't know the price either. Drink prices aren't posted, and we were guests of a friend. Ordered chips and salsa didn't come until after our food was served. We would rather drive 10 miles to town and eat at Jimboy's or El Foresteror 75% less and get better tacos! read more

Just got off the River? This is your place to go. Came here because they had a patio area to bring our dog. There were misters in the patio area and water bowls for dogs. This is not authentic Mexican food, more of an American twist to it but it was delicious. I got the gorilla burrito which had white rice, black beans, shredded chicken, cheese and salsa. Came out fresh and delicious. My husband has the tacos and enjoyed the lime crema on top with the avocado. We both got the shredded chicken and agreed that it was nicely marinated. read more

The food here is fantastic!!! I ordered the Gorilla nachos and was blown away by the sheer flavor and freshness of the chicken and pinto beans. Honestly, they were the best I have had in California. I hope that coming to Coloma becomes a yearly trip and Gorilla Rock Tacos is going to be on my "must" list. The staff is so friendly and kind. As a sole diner it was fun to take in the decor while I munched on my light and crispy chips. I can't wait to be back to share the gargantuan nachos with my family and to try their tacos. Those were the best tacos I have ever had. I am so stoked to get tacos but good ones are hard to come by. I was incredibly impressed with the kindness of the staff and how quickly we got our food. The bar is amazing with too many beers on tap to choose from. It is such a beautiful place right near the river. If you are a local make this your new go to and if you are a tourist make a detour for some life changing tacos. Luckily the weather was nice enough to sit out on the gorgeous shaded patio. Was in here awhile back & was extremely surprised @ how they updated their food! The presentation was beautiful, the taste was awesome and menu very expanded! I am a local so Gabriel knows me as Modelo Negra ( very few places carry it & chilled to perfection!) I also noticed the tables & condiments were cleaner as well. I am so glad to know that Gorilla Rock Taco is still open during this tough time!! Not gonna lie, when I first heard about them I thought it was just going to be boring vegan tacos but thank god I was wrong! These tacos are AMAZING! I'm really picky with my tacos and these definitely hit the mark. They aren't too full where it just makes a mess and not too little where you leave feeling still hungry. They have that "homemade Mexican" taste to them and are just plain delicious! If you order the River Tacos and the Gorilla Tacos you can't go wrong. The staff is very friendly too and brought my food out quickly and checked us often. I got to knock it down with a cold beer and for a while it just felt like things were back to normal as I sat on their patio and enjoyed my dinner. And every boater that visits Coloma to run the American should visit this locally owned and operated place. In the age of COVID,you order in front after waiting in a socially distanced line (complete with cooling misters!!). A friendly, masked person takes your order from the now-limited menu and a bit later the kitchen staff delivers your freshly made order either to go or for eating on their open air shaded back porch (more misters!). The food is California-mex, with fresh veggies, salsas, and tortillas (versus tex-mex, which is terrible). Signature dishes are the fresh river tacos, with avocado and sour cream, and the heartier gorilla tacos, with black beans, rice and all the fixings. Choose your meat, adjust your toppings, either way 3 tacos sets you back about $15 with tip, and I have to give one away every time because it's a bunch of food. Burittos are good too. I honestly haven't tried anything else. Pick your beverage from those on the register table, and don't be mad because COVID care keeps them from handing out glasses of ice water. Just visited this past weekend for a mini get away and after going white water rafting we popped in to Gorilla Tacos for some late lunch. I was in the area and stopped by when I saw the banner flag who could resist tacos? I ordered the vegetarian burrito, beef tacos, chicken tacos and the gorilla nachos! Hands-down my favorite was definitely the nachos. However all of it was very tasty. The service was amazing the staff legitimately seemed like they really enjoyed their job and they really enjoyed being there which makes a huge difference. Very polite and just a great place to be.
