Thank goodness for Sudbury Eye Care! I have a challenging prescription, and was in desperate…read morestraits after going to a large corporate eye practice with multiple locations (based in Lexington). From February through June, I tried one contact lens after another with this other practice, and they still couldn't get my prescription right. It was a nightmare! I was running out of time, contact lenses and patience, since I rely 100% on contact lenses for vision. Out of desperation, I booked a visit to Sudbury Eye Care. In contrast to the large corporate practice, Dr. Labiento: 1. Took as much time as I needed for each visit; 2. Had a huge inventory of trial contact lenses in stock, which she could tinker with as needed by applying magnifying lenses; 3. encouraged experimentation across a broad range of contact lens brands, including many boutique brands. Within a short time she had optimized my prescription, each eye with a different brand. When I showed up at Dr. Labiento's door my eyesight was so bad I couldn't legally drive. I now have 20/20 and 20/30 vision. I would give her 10 stars if I could!

She approaches each exam with the precision of an ophthalmologist, which consistently leads to excellent diagnoses and vision correction. Her wide selection of frames feels like browsing the latest Italian fashions, making the experience both medical and stylish. I feel fortunate to have her conveniently located in Sudbury, MA.

My parents had been to this location several years ago and had a pleasant experience, so I decided to go based on their recommendation. I half-expected there to be a negative encounter with off-putting staff, but this never happened. The bad reviews don't make sense to me, and I am personally writing this review to help set the record straight. My experience today was very pleasant and rated well above their average of "2.5" stars. Here's how it went: Parking, including handicapped parking, was plentiful. There is easy access to the building. No curbs or steps to navigate. The main door was a bit awkward, but the staff assisted by holding it open. Reception was very kind. I arrived about 5 minutes late, and apologized for this, but the woman there (I don't know her name. She was of Asian descent.) was very polite and she assisted me with the check-in process. From there, I went through the pre-screening eye tests. I was impressed with how advanced the technology has become since my early experience with optometry. It is so much easier. The young man performing the tests was also very kind. The set-up and layout for those tests was a bit awkward, I will say, and should probably be in a separate room, but it was fine. Next, I met with Dr. Curtin. What a gem he is. He was able to zero in on my correct prescription very quickly. No pupil dilation required. He was super efficient, personable, and didn't try to sell me on anything. He gave me a reading prescription, and a distance prescription that will be put on hold if I should decide that I need it in the future. There was no pressure. Next, I met with Katherine to pick out some frames. She was okay. She wasn't as personable as the others, but also not offensive in any way. Some of the other folks that were helping other customers with frames did seem more personable and friendly. The frames they had to select from were very high end. Brand names like Ray Ban, Gucci, Prada, Kate Spade, etc. You get the idea. They were beautiful, but there was not much variation in the selection, IMO. There were many chunky styles. Many cat-eyes. If I had the time and energy, I would have shopped for frames elsewhere to get exactly what I was looking for. I settled on a pair of RayBan plastic frames that were nice. I opted for a scratch-free coating, but didn't add anything special beyond that. No bifocals. No anti-glare, etc. To give you an idea of costs, the frame and lenses (before insurance) were $ 550. The eye exam was covered separately by my insurance. The glasses will be ready to pick-up in about a week. Simple. Never did I encounter anyone who was rude or disrespectful. They had many customers. It is a busy place. Everyone seemed happy. What else can I tell you? Don't believe everything you read. This is my honest review based on my experience today. I DO recommend this location and will be returning the next time I am due for an eye exam.

I said no I'll come down and show you my call list that you did not call me. They told me they were ready, but I had to make an appointment to come pick them up, but I chose to come pick them up with the appointment. No one can fit them to tell me if they're OK. I would have to make an appointment to come back to see the eye doctor so that's another charge , I made the mistake of going back there after not being happy with them. Terrible terrible customer service.!!!!! And I paid triple the amount I would someplace else I don't recommend them. I don't recommend their doctors. I don't recommend anything about it for a customer service person we called you. You want to look at my call list !!!! I will pick up my glasses and I will bring them to one of the walk-in places in the malls and I'm sure they'll adjust them for me at no charge I went in to get my glasses and the girl at the front desk was rude than she was on the phone. She had a sweet voice and all, but she was rude. She argued with me, insisted that she called me, but she did not if she had called me yesterday to tell me, my glasses were ready I wouldn't be calling them asking them if they were ready . Very very poor customer service you can smile all you want sitting behind that desk but when you're rude and you challenge your customer and you tell the customer they're wrong you're wrong . To eyecare place where there's no doctors available when you come in to pick up your glasses is ridiculous. They want you to make an appointment to come in and get them therefore they're gonna charge you for that visit.
