Got was a really lovely visit indeed. The server was friendly and accommodating when we asked to be moved to a bigger table. The view of the ocean outside is so nice! The food was tasty and a good portion would definitely return!

Never disappointed here! Came back and ordered loco moco, lumpia, musubi, and ube mochi donut. The service was great! Our server was kind and very helpful knowing we had our daughter. Seating didn't take too long. We got to sit by the window with a wonderful view!

Loco Moco & Crispy Kalua Tots

We tried the loco moco and the crispy kalua tots to-go. crispy kalua tots - 7/10, the tots were crispy and paired well with the cheese and pulled pork. on top was a creamy aioli and a sprinkle of green onion. my only complaint is that the portion size is small. the dish is kinda pricey and the amount of pulled pork you get is barely worth the price; however, the flavoring is very good. loco moco - 8/10, the beef patty was cooked well and the eggs had a runny yolk. the gravy on top was delicious--it was nicely savory and creamy. portion size was big, and can definitely feed two people. The person helping me order to-go was friendly, and food came out in an orderly fashion. Although I did not dine in, the interior was small with few seating, and had a cool, modern vibe. The view from the restaurant is beautiful as it is right next to the water. Overall, the food is delicious and would come back again.

My Hawaiian craving went too long. Took a 30 min drive down to Benicia to give this place a try over the weekend. Plenty of parking upon arrival with great scenery toward the water. Inside is fairly small but wasn't too crowded for lunch. As a first timer excitement, had to try more than one thing. spam masubi-7 piece starter 10/10! Bbq pork tater tot's 6/10 Sliders 9/10 Plate with bbq chicken & loco moco, 6/10 bbq chicken was a bit too dry. Loco moco itself was 10/10 highly recommend. Overall would go back. I just hope to have a better experience with a different server. I don't remember my servers name but she was not attentive, didn't deliver utensils or napkins. No refills until we pretty much ready to leave. It was very uncomfortable eating without beverages and inexcusable being that it wasn't a busy time and many of staff members were behind counters chatting.

This review is just for the food truck experience in the Benicia Farmers market. Food truck had a vibrant exterior and located midway into the market. I had remembered rave reviews of Got Plate Lunch in the past and was excited to try it again. Ordered the crispy kalua pork tots and combo rice plate with chicken teriyaki and kalua pork, which came with rice and mac salad. Purchase went smoothly with credit card and waited about 10 min. -Kalua tots: crispy yet over-fried to the point it was dry and greasy. It was also cold and the cheese wasn't melted. -Chicken teriyaki was tender and tasty. *In both kalua pork was hard and dry. Probably best to dine in the restaurant when the food is hot and fresh- I was overall disappointed with the food truck grub.

Place looks great but the food was ok specially the spam masubi. The rice was really undercooked and really hard. I only took 1 bite and that's it. I told the server and she said she will talk to the cook. Upon checking out she said she tried the rice and it was hard, but she didn't even do anything, at least offer a replacement‍ I will never eat here again

The best Hawaiian BBQ in the Vallejo/Benicia area. I also love how close the restaurant is to the bay. It is right across the 9th Street Park and boat launch. I love the indoor theming. Makes you feel like you are in Hawaii. It's also really clean inside. The waitress and servers were really nice and helpful. The food is great especially their spam matsubi. Love wife also loves ordering the pineapple salad. It is a little more expensive than your standard Hawaiian BBQ restaurant, but they definitely have really good quality food. Give this place a shot if you have that Hawaiian craving.

I saw Got Plate Lunch on Check, Please and it looked like a legit Hawaiian place. Unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to our expectations (though I'm glad to see a small business thriving - we got takeout since it would have been about a 20 minute wait to be seated around 2 pm on a Sunday). First of all, the biggest problem was that they messed up our order - instead of a whole order of spicy chicken, they gave us a half order. Luckily we checked. They quickly prepared the rest of the order and charged my husband the difference... except they rang him up for the wrong amount, something like 1.5x the amount he should have been rung up for. Again, good thing we checked. Then, when we got home, we realized we only had two tiny mac salads... not sure if that's really the portion size for the full meal, or if they forgot to give us mac salads for the second entree. Either way, that portion size is TINY. Finally, I was disappointed when I opened up the "bbq chicken" and saw that it had no char on it and appeared to just be sauteed in a teriyaki-ish sauce. Not what comes to mind when I think of "Hawaiian BBQ Chicken". I understand that mistakes are made but the combination of the order fulfillment mistakes, the overcharging, potential small mac salad portion size, and misrepresentation of a bbq chicken, I'm so sad to say I wouldn't recommend Got Plate Lunch to anyone. Again, it's great they're doing well despite my personal experience. I just would have loved to have a reliable Hawaiian place, especially with the awesome location this place has, by the water and a park.

Kalua & Cabbage with Spam Katsu
    James M.

It's a bit unfair for me to review this place because I am part Hawaiian and know how Hawaiian food should taste. This place is alright. The highlight was the Crispy Kalua Tots. The main thing that made this good was the sauce as it provided just the right accent to bring the dish together. Highly recommended. The Kalua by itself is average and lacks the flavors I miss from home. The Spam Katsu was tasty. Their mac salad is just blah. Service was great and the spot was beautiful. I am probably in the minority with this opinion because the place was very busy when we were there.

Food with a view ! The best spot to eat while being able to see the ocean. The food was great, I recommend the plate. Small inside but not hard to get a table.

A little slice of Hawaii here in Benicia! The food was amazing and the crispy Kalua tots were even better than I was initially expecting! That cheese/sauce was really good. Service was excellent as well! Very attentive and timely. Would like to try the short ribs next time I stop by

Where is the cabbage? This is pork and cabbage, when you eat there you get much more food. What is the deal with take out?

Ask the Community - Got Plate Lunch

Is there outdoor seating at the waterfront location?

There is a stand alone picnic table, but no outdoor service. There is a park across the street also, if you want to take your food to go.

    Do you take reservations?

I think they do. I saw "reserved" plaques behind the hostess desk.

Neither of us…read moreknew much about restaurants in the area, but we "Yelped" a bit, and Pearl Thai caught our eye. Very glad it did! We were greeted by a gentleman with a fun sense of humor - can't really explain it, but he made us smile. The place is small, but very welcoming. We were shown to a window booth, where we chatted a bit before we looked at the menu. The server came to take our order and we had barely even looked. She told us to take all the time we needed. Eventually, we made our decisions. My friend got one of the lunch combos - a chicken curry (she chose red curry, you can also choose green or yellow), and I don't remember what the other combo item was. But everything looked delightful on her plate! On our way into the restaurant, I spotted a sign with a lunch special on it - crispy chicken kao soi, a noodle dish, and it looked good, so that's what I requested. It was quite yummy! The best part was the deeply flavored sauce that the noodles were nestled into - I could put it in a cup and drink it, it was soooo good, lots of savory fish sauce and just enough spice to keep it interesting. Besides the noodles actually in the sauce, there were crispy fried noodles on top as well, adding a nice texture variety. The picture doesn't really do it justice. I was hungry and dove in before I remembered to take the photo, oops. The chicken was breaded and laid on top of the noodles in thin slices, very nice and crunchy. We had Thai hot tea with our lunch - not the sweet kind, but the nice clean-flavored hot tea. It went perfectly with our dishes. I don't know exactly when either of us will get back to Benicia again, but if and when we do, I hope we can stop by Pearl Thai again!

*** Vegetarian Review ***…read more None of their dishes have fish sauce so you don't get knocked over the head with the smell when you walk in. They remind me every time I order, but as a vegetarian, we've all had that fish smell delivered to us at a Thai restaurant at least once (probably twice, more likely three times) in our eating lifetimes. It is such a relief to not have to worry about that here. Would I Come Back? Yes, when I'm in town, I make it a point to come here. Did I mention they don't use fish sauce!? Parking is is incredibly easy so that's never an issue. It's a shared parking lot with many stores and other restaurants. I typically go on a Sunday for lunch, and even with a party of 5, I haven't had to wait for a table. Seating capacity is probably 45-50 guests so if you're planning a large party, definitely best to call ahead and make a reservation. The Food: Roti & Yellow Curry ($14, Grade A+): Fried roti with a yellow curry dipping sauce. It's a super savory dish, and honestly, I should have had you at "fried." If you're wondering what roti is, think of it as a buttery, flaky, pan-fried flatbread. It's large enough appetizer to share with 3 people, but you're pushing your luck with 4. Pad Thai with Fried Tofu ($16, Grade A): I've had this dish 5 times now. To be completely transparent, it's the exact reason why I can't give Pearl Thai a full 5-star rating, purely because of consistency. The first time I got it, it was perfect. The second and third times, it had no sauce and was dry. The fourth time, I asked them to make it saucy, and they obliged to an almost soupy level. For this fifth time, I just ordered it straight up and zipped my lip on any alterations. As they say, the fifth time was a charm! When it's made with the perfect amount of sauce, this dish is excellent. The noodles have that exact texture you look for in a pad thai, and the egg gets that great scorch from the wok for an added layer of flavor. Also, the tofu has been incredibly fresh every single time. It never tastes slightly spoiled, which happens a lot in smaller towns that don't heavily support plant-based diets where tofu just sits in a fridge eagerly awaiting someone to order it. Mixed Vegetables ($14, Grade A): Sautéed wood ear mushrooms and mixed vegetables in a garlic soy sauce. If you've ever had Pad Pak, you already know this flavor profile. I really enjoyed it, but next time I'll ask for no carrots and maybe half the garlic. Overall, it's a perfect dish that absolutely requires steamed rice to soak up all that great flavor. Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango ($8, Grade A): The classic dessert we see at all Thai restaurants, but they serve it with purple sticky rice, making it a visually yummy dish. It's plenty of food to share between two people. Bottom Line: The service here is great and very friendly. It's a small, local shop with "Best in Town" awards highlighted on the walls. The environment is clean, and the food is served hot and arrives at the table quick. One Last Word: Don't leave here without ordering the roti with yellow curry for an appetizer. Pure savory goodness!

I ordered the tomato prawns with linguine and toasted French bread. My partner had the prawn cocktail with a side garden salad. We also ordered iced tea, which turned out to be Brisk literally Brisk, not fresh brewed tea. For a waterfront restaurant overlooking the Carquinez Bridge, with entrées running around $29, I expected a little more attention to quality. My linguine tasted like what I can only describe as an upscale cafeteria meal. The tomato sauce had a noticeable heat to it that I don't remember seeing described on the menu, and the overall flavor lacked depth. I ended up needing plenty of lemon, Parmesan cheese, and butter just to bring some life into the dish. The prawn cocktail was extremely spicy and also missed the mark. Between both meals, the food simply lacked luster. There was also an odd metallic aftertaste that made me wonder whether some of the food had been sitting or prepared in industrial metal pans. I can't say for certain what caused it, but it was noticeable enough to affect the experience. The bright spots were the strawberry lemonade and the warm bread, both of which I actually enjoyed. What disappointed me most was that the restaurant wasn't particularly busy on this Saturday afternoon, so I expected the kitchen to have a little more room to put care into the plates. Instead, the food felt like it lacked love, effort, and the kind of detail that makes you feel good about spending nearly $30 per entrée. Sailor Jack's has one of those settings that should make the meal memorable. Unfortunately, this time the view carried the experience more than the food did. Would I return? Maybe but probably just to try a burger, enjoy the scenery, and keep my expectations much lower. Overall: beautiful location, underwhelming food, and definitely a meal that lacked luster.

The BBQ chicken was the star of the plate, juicy, flavorful, and finished with a beautifully caramelized glaze that delivered just the right balance of sweetness and char. The macaroni salad was fresh and creamy, though not quite as sweet as I've enjoyed at other L&L locations, which is simply my personal preference. I also appreciated the finely shredded cabbage, which added a crisp, fresh contrast to the richness of the meal, different from other locations where it is steamed leafs. That's usually not a red flag for me but it made the underwhelming meal stand out even more. We ordered the #7 Hamachi Kama (grilled yellowtail collar), which came with rice and salad. The fish didn't taste fresh and had an odd texture--not what I've come to expect from this dish. The rice had a strange aftertaste, and the salad dressing was more like watered-down mayonnaise than anything appetizing. Next came the shrimp and veggie tempura platter. I get that tempura is a simple dish--hot oil, light batter, a good fry--but even that missed the mark. The batter lacked flavor and the portion was surprisingly sparse for the price point. I really wanted to like this place. The staff were polite and attentive, which I appreciate. But unfortunately, good service can't make up for a dinner that just didn't deliver. #gaveitagoodtrythough
