    Gargoyles!
    Morgan C.

Gothic Renaissance is one of my favorite unique boutiques in New York City, and I always make a point to visit whenever I'm in town. It might look a lil' scary on the outside (I personally love the gargoyles, though!), but I invite you to abandon your apprehensions, and step inside to find a fully stocked collection of some amazing costumes, gorgeous jewelry, one of a kind shoes, and more! Seriously, if you plan to visit, definitely carve out a bit of time to browse around - there's so much to look at! Granted, all these lovely things come with a hefty price tag, but you won't find some of this stuff anywhere else. Yes, Goths and cosplayers will be over the moon with the corsets, Tripp pants, and Victorian style blouses, coats, and bustle skirts, but they have a lot of other cool items as well, including some exquisitely made beaded flapper gowns. New Year's Eve is right around the corner, and I am definitely going back to get one of those to wear as we ring in the Roaring 2020s! :) The employees couldn't be more friendly or helpful, and we've always had awesome experiences when shopping here. Gothic Renaissance isn't just for Halloween or your quirky niece that's studying theatre at NYU. Take a peek inside, and you might just surprise yourself with a fabulous, spooky find!

The service there is phenomenal. All of the staff are really lovely and sweet and great to talk to. It's quite a large shop but it doesn't have the biggest range of items but luckily it's right next door to a Art. It's sister shop Halloween store which also expands it's inventory.

Wearing my Gothic Renaissance ravens at the Metropolitan Opera

I was in town for Richard Wagner's Ring Cycle operas. I wanted to wear something special because the Ring Cycle is so special. I found some ravens at this store (birds that are featured in the opera's plot). Even though I'm probably not their typical customer (I'm a 50 something married opera-loving DC attorney), the staff was great, giving me really helpful advice on how to attach them to my head for costume use. Their ravens turned a lot of heads at the Metropolitan Opera! (P.S. OF COURSE I took them off when I was in my seat watching the opera.)

They have all kinds of cool decor and accessories for you to wear or to decorate your home for a Halloween party. If you can dream it up they have it. The employees are very friendly and helpful. They just opened a couple days ago. They have a coupon on line I'm posting. Check out their website. You have to go into the store though it's an experience in itself. I'm recommending you start getting ready for Halloween. My daughter sure is starting to prepare!

So my son bought two of the same costumes just two different sizes, to go home and try on. when he went right back, after trying them on, to return them They refuse to refund my son. He spoke to the manager and he told him no as well. I called and tried to have this rectified on the phone with the main office . They also refused and refused to let me speak to ma supervisor. So they basically ripped off my son of $100. I think it is very unfair to take advantage of people especially in this day and age. I am not usually one to post this but I feel that we were not treated correctly and I ma tried of being taken advantage of. I will never be going to this store again nor ordering online. I will also be taking this to the next level.

Yelp doesn't like this cuz I had work "relationships" with the scumbags & my post is a no no

So when Kitschy Flower announced a vintage doll live sale and holiday event at the shop, I knew I could not miss it. I gathered up some of my most fashionable to attend. We did the RSVP on line. So lovely to see the Mickey (Mickey Boardman) and Baby Lynnie (Lynn Yaeger) did their Friday live show from the event and Cole (Kitschy Flower from Atlanta) popped in showing the doll highlights. Everyone working was insanely stylish and adorable. I could put them in my pocket. The doll fans were also dressed to impressed. I was so happy to feel the holiday energy and the creativity from the event. I knew I had to leave with a new little friend. I snagged an adorable kewpie baby.
