Taking a star off because I was really bummed to find out they don't have espresso and I had driven out of my way for it. This is indeed a hidden gem! Our first time here and it was absolutely fantastic! My partner and I got a chocolate and almond croissant. These are probably the best croissants we've ever tasted in this area! They are so flaky and full of flavor. I have tried this place again a few times recently and it's actually amazing. I think the first time I went when I posted my first review, it was in the afternoon so they didn't have much bakery options. My coffee was watered down tasting the first time. She has been straggling with cancer and just finish her treatment. I tried the pistachio, delicious. Is big and sweet but you do not have to eat it all at the same time, Ha, ha, ha. But my favorite is almond crosaint. Their employees are always very friendly, and makes your day when you see how nice, polite and sweet they are. Is really hard to find this service. The pastries here are delicious and very visually appealing. The croissants and pain au chocolat are eye catching but the madeleines are probably one of my personal favorites. Chocolate and Pistachio Roulettes (drum shaped croissants) are humongous! Easily shared with 4 people.. These are a MIST BUY! Tons of delicious filling (even if it was a touch too sweet). Somehow the filling does NOT make the flakey croissant soggy. The pastries here are not only beautifully decorated but exquisite in taste! Personally, I enjoy the pepperoni croissant! The drinks are always delicious, as I always try new flavors when I come, I have yet to be disappointed! Atmosphere is well decorated and very mellow so it's great to catch up on some duties, or have some small talk with loved ones! Baristas and front of house are very polite and friendly! We were just visiting the area and my husband found this place. We just loved every single moment we were there. Staff was just very very friendly and accommodating as well as helpful. One of the girl brought us some treats on the house outside and encouraged us to try the new treat. Environment was great very very clean. Recommend this to everyone plz plz visit this place. We are very lucky to have a quality bake shop like this in Prunedale. I've yet to have anything that wasn't amazing from this shop. The employees are very welcoming and eager to answer any questions one may have about the baked goods they sell. Overall service is amazing and the shop is very cozy and inviting. It's hidden away tucked in-between the auto zone and Stevie's Restaurant. It's a bummer they are not allowed to make specialty coffee drinks. Rumor says prunetree had some type of clause where only SugarBucks is allowed to make espresso. Not sure how true that is but it seems to be the general consensus. That said, their brewed coffee is on point. Hopefully they'll be able to someday sell espresso. read more

Food? High quality European style pastries and great coffee! Service? Again, reminiscent of a friendly, professional European bakery. Ambiance? Super clean, well decorated, comfy place to sit, take a break, and have a coffee and pastry. As opposed to a dark, hipster, new age music, corporate coffee place. I think even old Prunedale growlers would feel comfortable here. My partner brought home a hazelnut roulette and an almond croissant for $18 including tax and tip. Pricey, yes, but the quality of the ingredients is exceptional, and the size of the pastries are double what you'd get at a normal bakery. The roulette was filled with a delicious pastry cream, and the chocolate dipping was perfect! I hope they offer flavored pastry creams, too! The almond croissant was heavy with marzipan and topped with a ton of sliced almonds! Walking in, it feels like you're walking into a bakerei in Berlin. Warm, with amazing aromas, yet clean and a no-nonsense, professional, but friendly presence. So happy that this business is in our neighborhood! We'll be back often! read more

Given I've made several trips here to get a pastry and each time I leave with none, this is directed towards the service, food quantity and employee knowledge. First time around they were sold out, sure that's okay due to the popularity of the pastries. Second time around, they didn't have them (this was at 9:30am), and was told by the employee they have them out at 7am and sell out of particular pastries by 9am. Third time, went at 7am and then was told a completely different story that pastries are ready for sale at 9am. Please get it together and communicate with your clients with the correct information. I don't know if this is because your employees aren't properly trained or if there's issues with retention but it leaves a sour taste in your clients mouths who would rather have a tasty pastry. Take this with what you will. read more

For starters don't look at where yelp has this for location I've tried to change it a couple times and yelp still doesn't change it. It is not down the street it is in the same parking lot as Safeway closer to CVS. I'm showing a picture to show exactly where it's at. I didn't realize that the rolled croissant had filling otherwise I probably wouldn't have bought it. I had a hazelnut filling I didn't care for the filling so I threw the filling away but I ate the croissant which was really good. It's so nice that Prunedale has this cute little bakery which I read about on some local site on FB. I stopped on my way home this afternoon and picked up a cookie croissant and an almond croissant for dessert this evening. It was explained that the cookie croissant had a chocolate chip cookie on the inside and one on top. The top was really quite good, but the uncooked, maybe cookie dough on the inside was thinly spread and kind of odd. Loved the outside and crunchy cookie and flaky croissant. The almond croissant outside was perfect. Flaky and buttery with the standard powder sugar and almond slices on top. The paste on the inside was very bland and had no almond taste to it at all. We love almond croissants with real almond paste and judge all bakeries on how well they can execute a good almond croissant. I don't even think you can call it an almond croissant just because you throw some sliced almonds on top. It really must have a real almond paste or frangipane inside. Service was good. I had to ask the girl to tell me what every pastry available was, as there is no signage in the case. I could tell she was a little over it, but she complied and was helpful. I think signage in the case would be helpful for the employees and the customers. I liked that they had some good savory selections so for that, I would stop again on my way from the peninsula to the 101, which is usually the time we want/need something to get started on a road trip north. I hope they are successful and do well! Maybe, explain what is in that "almond" croissant and maybe call it by whatever that is. Id really like to know, what that was! read more

The croissants were flaky and buttery! The staff aaa super friendly. They didn't have much variety out yet, but they were still putting out new items as we were there. The pan au chocolat was so good not super sweet and the almond croissant was buttery. The iced matcha was delicious, it comes with a sphere of frozen milk of choice so it makes it super creamy and does not water down the milk.
