I enjoyed my visit to the Museum of History and Industry in Lake Union Park and had breakfast and lunch at the cafe. Service was really cool and friendly. The croissant was yummy! There was a cool view of a ship. Very relaxing.

Cute spot for coffee. They are right on the water so you can sit back and enjoy the view of sail boats passing by and little kids having fun on the dock. They ambiance is casual but the decore is very modern. The coffee are all reasonably priced. Only a small complaint and that is that when my friend spilt her coffee the worker stared at us with annoyance. I was expecting for a towel or some kind of acknowledgement from the staff but we seemed to be an irritation to them which in their defense we were. But if your in customer service you should be a bit nicer.

    Tuna sandwich

I love MOHAI. I love the view of Lake Union from here. I even love the view of the city from here. Man, I wish I liked MOHAI Cafe better. I ordered a tuna sandwich, chips, and a blood orange Pellegrino for lunch. The tuna sandwich was an average tuna sandwich, with a light touch from a panini press to give the bread a nicer texture. It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't special and it definitely wasn't worth the over $14 price tag. They were also really slow. The sandwiches are prepared right behind the cash register, so you get to see everything that happens. Two guys ordered after me, and I think they were regulars. The cashier decided to make their sandwiches first, and an awkward 5 minutes later they started to put together my sandwich. Not surprisingly, my sandwich was fairly simple to prepare, but it still took a really long time to get it. A really great location and a really great view, but you can definitely find better food nearby.

The punchcard system is a trick! Upon receiving the punch card the first time was told buy 5 get one free. Even when the fourth one was bought was told the same. But by the time the fifth cup was bought, was told with an attitude that it is buy 9 get tenth free and what was crossed out only applies to a different store. What gives? It's not about the free cup but it's the weird dishonesty and attitude. I guess no more cups will be bought...

    Stark, Clean, Museum-y.
    Johanna ..

Just beyond the museum shop, you'll find everything you need in a museum cafe. Stark, museum-y, the cafe has a minimalist-Scandinavian vibe. Clean, white, decor allows for exhibits to change over, and your mind to remain uncluttered while you fuel up for more learning and exploring. Enjoy friendly service, sandwiches, simple desserts, coffee and espresso, while sitting next to windows that frame South Lake Union and Historic Ships Wharf (for more on that: http://www.atlakeunionpark.org/history/historic-sites/historic-ships-wharf). Plus, a Forbes article noted that caffeine may influence how the brain consolidates memories, helping us hang on to details and new information that we've been exposed to. What better place for a cafe than in a museum?! Enjoy that cup o joe! Saluti!

Sourdough havarti grilled cheese with caramelized onions

Ate here with the kids after going on the emerald city pirate cruise. The cafe is located inside the museum. We opted for kids friendly food and had Mac and cheese, veggie wrap and adult sourdough grilled cheese with caramelized onions. The above meals ranges from $6-$7. There is plenty of seating indoors and also out. The Mac and cheese was "out of this world" and "the best I ever had" according to the kids. I had to try a bite and agreed it was pretty stellar. The adult grilled sourdough with havarti cheese and caramelized onions was one of the best. The wrap had an interesting concoction of veggies that didn't quite go together, hence the 4 star rating.

We came in around 1:45pmish and it wasn't crowded. They had an amazing selection of pastries, though I didn't try any. I got their Caramelized Banana Latte to satisfy my sweet tooth, and it wasn't too banana-flavored nor too sweet; the black sesame in it balanced it nicely. I also got the Urban Pesto, which was SO yum. I was little skeptical of the focaccia - sometimes I find it to be too puffy, and thus hard to eat the sandwich - but this had a lovely panini press on it that made it easy to eat. The in-house herby cheese in the sandwich made each bite just that much more delicious. The staff was also super nice and accommodating to my parents' requests and questions. Can't wait to come back to try their other food and bev options!

The croissant was on the crispier side, especially with the almond crumble on top it was a bit too cripsy for me, but I tend to like soft and flakey pastries so it's probably a matter of taste. There was a TON of almond filling in the middle. I enjoyed the taste and texture but it was too much filling for me personally. I would have liked more croissant in my croissant, so to say haha. The chocolate was slightly dark which worked well with the sweet pastry and filling! Overall I enjoyed the croissant but it was a tad too heavy on the filling and cripsy/crunchy for me.

Key Points: - Iconic khachapuri "bread boats"…read more- minor drawback: limited coffee customization options and only forks available The Fam and I stopped by Skalka for some breakfast/brunch before perusing the rest of Seattle during my birthday week. I saw it on a few YouTube food influencer videos and was really impressed by what I saw. The their staple is their Georgian khachapuri. They're the iconic bread "boats" filled with cheese, butter, egg, and whatever comes along the variety you ordered. TBH, I actually thought they looked like little volcanoes, which is something I figured The Little One would enjoy. What we ordered: - Stroganoff: one of the popular items listed on the yelp page. The beef was rich, succulent and comforting, with a creamy, savory filling. The pickles added a bit of bright, tangy contrast to balance the richness. - Adjaruli, the classic version with cheese, butter, and egg. To me, this seemed like the plainest version, but I figured The little One would be more likely eat this because she hates anything that resembles a sauce or toppings. Both dishes were fantastic. The bread boat sort of reminded me of a pizza crust: crispy on the outside, soft and chewy inside, and perfect for tearing off and dipping into the cheesy center. The Little one did especially like the crust since she's a big pizza-crust fan. Surprisingly, getting her to eat the cheese and egg was tougher, as she usually likes those. I guess that's just being a kid? Inconsistent fluctuations of opinions and likings? The Mrs. and I happily finished everything she left behind. The restaurant itself is a small, casual spot with self-service kiosks for ordering and open seating. Nothing fancy, but it's efficient. We also appreciated that they had high chairs available, making it easy to visit with a child. We did see other families with kids there too. My only gripes: - once you've submitted your kiosk order, making changes isn't really possible. The staff is so busy going in and out of the kitchen, that you really don't have any opportunity to flag them down. We actually wanted to make one minor change to our order, but by the time I managed to talk to someone about it, she informed me that the order was already being made. - If you order coffee, you need to decide on cream, half-and-half, and sugar ahead of time, seemingly preset amounts. It's entirely prepared in the kitchen, not self serve, and you can't exactly customize to your liking. - Only forks were available. No spoons, no knives. Knives would have been helpful for cutting through the thicker bread crust. Those are very minor complaints, though. The food was excellent, the concept is unique, and the meal was memorable. Won't dock any points off there.
