LOVE THIS PLACE ‼ My husband and I have been going here for years, starting back when it was still "the egg & us", but it's actually better than ever and now that it is "the block"!!! BETTER!!! Each time we go, every staff member we've met has been friendly, efficient, and eager to please. In fact, the chef has made for me things not on the menu, a couple of times. -For no extra cost too. The menu has a wide variety of breakfast and lunch choices. Mostly your basic American dishes, but there are also a good handful of Mexican choices. My husband loves Mexican, so he's had quite a few of them and has always been very happy with them. My personal favorite is their lemon ricotta pancakes, which are absolutely delicious and come literally covered in berries. (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries). We've both tried numerous choices on their menu, and have never been disappointed. In fact, they have never even made a mistake in our orders, which is pretty rare these days. I can think of several fast food places that have messed up our order multiple times just in the last six months. Not so with this place! By the way, they are also very good about refilling your water or coffee. The restaurant itself is very clean, including the bathrooms. And they have pictures for the kiddos to color with crayons, just FYI. There are lots of windows, so it's nice and bright. I've seen all kinds of people here: singles, couples, families, etc.. It's great that there's the attached parking lot which is for use with all the retail around it (Trader Joe's, Ross, etc.) Yesterday (June 12, 2026), both my husband and I had egg dishes that came with hashbrowns and vegetables. Everything was scrumptious! I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone out there! By the way, they also do takeout. But it's very comfortable place to eat at. Weekdays we've never had a problem getting a table for brunch or lunch. Weekends, of course, can be busier, so you might have to wait for a table. Fairly new brunch spot in Ballard Blocks area. Parking is hit or miss as the area this place is located can be bottlenecked but I see a lot of street and plaza parking. We ordered takeout as the discounts made our orders deeply discounted, and we enjoyed it shortly after (within 15 minutes of receiving the food) for the maximum quality. We got the migas with cheesy hash browns and Swedish cake, and the carnitas breakfast. The migas is a scrambled egg with chorizo and tortillas dish, which is fairly hearty in itself. The cheesy hash browns made the dish heavier (our choice for this side so nothing against the restaurant). However, the hash browns were a bit stale and overcooked without the crispy texture. The Swedish cake is kind of like a crepe, which is decent. Carnitas breakfast is good too - the eggs were easy and the carnitas has just the right amount of meat to fat ratio, so that was high quality. The pico de gallo and the tortillas made this a nice, complete dish. The potatoes were not good. Overall, the food is good with a few misses, so it is a good breakfast spot depending on what you end up getting and what sides you choose read more

This place has really been hit or miss for me. I've tried it twice my first visit was a pickup order where I got the chicken club sandwich, and it was surprisingly good. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to go back a few days later for a dine-in experience. Unfortunately, that second visit was really disappointing. The sandwich was extremely dry, and the service was poor. I'm not sure what changed maybe they have different cooks during brunch and dinner? My pickup order was around 7 PM, while the dine-in visit was during lunchtime. After that experience, I don't think I'll be going back. The staff was least interested in serving us read more

Whenever we are in Ballard we stop here for breakfast no matter what time of the day is. I have to say service is out of this world! Every single person that works here appreciates every customer that walks through their door. Food is always fresh and hot and it arrives to your table super fast. Prices are extremely reasonable and we never had a bad experience. Been here since it was Patty's egg nest. And now it's called The Block Cafe. Different name but same food and staff. This was the second time my friends and I came for brunch and it was great. We had a friend with a service dog for the blind and they accommodated both of them perfectly. The food was great (Lemon Pancakes, 2 eggs with bacon, and eggs Benedict). We had a good time and the service was promt. We'll be back again! read more

The Block Cafe - My Ex husband and I meet here at least once a month to chat since I moved back to the area. This cafe was originally called the Egg'n Me but recently was bought out by the Block Cafe... the menu is basically remained the same. Good service, family welcome, child units and grand parents seen enjoying themselves. I have only come for breakfast on the weekends but the cafe has a bar and tv's so may boast an evening scene I have not witnessed. The price is fare for really good wholesome food... highly recommend trying the Mexican item if you like Mexican food and the pico de galo is fresh. It has a cafe/ diner vibe comfortable with average noise levels. The staff are prompt with never ending coffee and let us be LONG after we paid the bill and should have left... they know my Ex's order by heart and I just keep them guessing :). Good food, good value. Parking early in the morning is no problem gets busy as the morning wears on with the PCC, FEDEX, UPS and Trader Joe's around the corner. Such a hidden gem! We tried this place for the first time and we both loved our meals. The California Benedict was excellent with a really outstanding hollandaise sauce, and my partner's verde scramble was also great. Prices are extremely reasonable compared to similar places in Ballard. read more

My friends and I have been regulars for years here. When we went by last week for the first time in a couple months, the signage/name of the restaurant had changed, and we were concerned. Luckily, while the name may have changed, it is still in reality The Eggs and Us in all ways, shapes, and forms. Same cook. Same huge menu and great food. Same generous portions, and same helpful and accommodating staff. I found out the new owner is the business partner of the original Eggs and Us group as the other owner has decided to focus his time more at the Issaquah location. It's easy and understandable to see the name of a restaurant change, and get discouraged and decide to go somewhere else. I'm glad my friends and I went inside because we now know our favorite breakfast spot, is still our favorite breakfast spot. read more

This locally owned restaurant has some of the best food in Ballard. They have a large menu breakfast( served all-day, lunch and dinner. They also have some very authentic Mexican food. The menu was so large. I often come here five days a week. My particular favorites are the prime rib dip on the ciabatta roll, waffle combo, lemon, ricotta pancakes (the best I've ever had), chicken tinga quesadilla or tostada, meatloaf sandwich, croissant breakfast sandwich, toasted breakfast burrito, Asian chicken salad, any of the breakfast scrambles, Ballard burger on grilled rye and the street tacos! read more
