What I DID like about them - they will pick you up/drop you off. What I DON'T like - greasy steering wheel and shiftknob, cigarette burns on my carpet, missing bolts in areas they worked on, and random tools and shop rags in my car when they return it.... and the repairs just never really seemed to be fixed the first time. GP Auto Group has consistently demonstrated honesty and integrity when servicing my vehicles. Recently, a weather-related incident left some suspension damage on my car. I took it to two other shops who simply guessed and replaced various parts, hoping for the best. My car still wasn't fixed and I had spent over a thousand dollars. I remembered my previous good experiences with GP and took it there as a last-ditch effort. Immediately the Gary and his technicians found the problem, which was admittedly difficult to diagnose. The parts were fairly priced, the repair time fast, and most importantly the car is now fixed. Gary has been absolutely fantastic and knows his stuff. After hours of trying to diagnose my own issue with a tire sensor light, And Toyota dealers telling me that I needed more than 140 dollars worth of work. I brought the car to GP to diagnose what was wrong with the tire sensors. I was greeted at the door and They brought my car in for analysis very quickly. After about 5 minutes the very nice gentleman who greeted me as well as the mechanic let me know that all I needed was some air pressure in the tires. Problem solved. They also told me that I should monitor the spare tire for air pressure since that may too cause an issue with the sensor light. I was treated with both professionalism and respect during the whole process even though this was an issue I should have been able to solve on my own. I've used this shop twice and additionally they've installed motorcycle tires for me on my bike. My experience thus far is that they are helpful and honest. My car is very old and I've needed lots of little work here and there. The main guy (sorry I forget his name) has done some minor repairs while the car was already in the shop that he didn't even charge me for when I was having bigger work done. I would recommend this shop to others. I work very close by and it has been very helpful for them offering the pick-up and drop-off service for me to retrieve my car at the end of the day. read more

I really wanted to like this shop, but in the end I just could not. The most significant issue I had was the half-assed alignment job GP did on my car. Granted, they charged half the price that Mr. Tire charged me, but GP did half an alignment job. Why would anyone want half an alignment? I ended up paying 50% more in total than I would have had I just gone to Mr. Tire in the first place. Admittedly, GP did the alignment after they installed an aftermarket coil suspension kit on my car. So, understandably, a car with an aftermarket suspension is harder to properly align than a car with a stock suspension. (By the way, GP did seem to do a competent job at the suspension installation). Nonetheless, the alignment results (both camber and toe for all 4 corners) were way out of spec, and the car simply did not feel right -- it was very jittery going over any bumps in the road. When I brought the car back, Gary refused to re-do the alignment and insisted that the original alignment results were acceptable. Two weeks later I brought the car to Mr. Tire and, with the exception of camber at one corner, they were able to get the camber and toe at all 4 corners within spec, and the car felt normal again. (Even the out-of-spec camber was much closer to spec than what GP did.) Had GP charged me what Mr. Tire charged me to do a proper alignment, I would've been willing to pay that amount (since I couldn't find any cheaper prices at other reputable shops). Instead, GP chose to charge a cut-rate amount for doing hardly any work at all on the alignment. Other issues I had with GP: 1) It took forever for them to respond to e-mails and phone calls. When I tried to follow up on the improper alignment, it took me literally dozens of calls over three days before they got back to me. They also would not call me on their own with updates on the car. 2) They significantly overbook appointments. The work on my car should've taken no more than a day at most shops, but I did not get my car back until 3 days after I brought it in for my appointment. 3) They would not provide me with an invoice and blamed a computer crash. When I followed up a full month later, the owner went off on a tirade and said I was not being "patient." read more

Great, knowledgable group of guys. Got both my Audi and Mazda through MD state inspections, when I know 100% they would of failed anywhere else. Yeah, MD is not a fan of modified cars. They specialize in Audi, BMW, and VW performace but can get about any of your performance needs completed for you. If you live close to the shop they will come pick your car up for you and drop it back off, which is a big help if you are working full-time. They did my clutch install on my Audi and did an excellent job as well as making a great recommendation on a high performance clutch kit. I will use them again. read more

Gary used to be a great mechanic with a great shop. I don't think he's as involved in the biz as he should be, and the QC has suffered. Nowadays, he doesn't return calls, work always takes longer it's estimated (by days, not hours) it's impossible to get a reliable finish time out of him, and the final work product is sporadic and suspect. I've been going to this shop since before he was running it and I won't be back. No more referrals of other customers either. read more

These guys are quick and quite reasonable. They honor their appointment times and deliver car back to you quite fast. They are thebest deal for mounting tires. Have tirerack or any other discount tire place ship the tires directly to them then take the car there once tires are delivered. Once there was a problem with a tire and they dealt with tirerack directly to get a replacement. Great service. WARNING: THE ADDRESS ON YELP IS WRONG. THEY HAVE CHANGED TO 12343 Carroll Avenue Rockville, MD 20852 about 10 years ago. OUCH. We seem to have a need for a correction here. Their phone number listed on Yelp is wrong too. Just to be safe just go to www.pro-imports.com. BTW: the best tire rates are the ones listed on tirerack. They offer the same rate if you ship from any other online discount place. But if you just drive in wit tires then the mounting and balance are separate charges adding a bit more than the online rate. So better have them shipped in. Also they have a great deal on real nitogen fill at $8.50 per tire. read more

BEST place in MD/DC/VA for car repair and maintenance! Gary and Yesenia are wonderful and always take great care of me. They have been working on my car for the last several years- back when they were Montrose Automotive. A friend referred me to Gary several years ago after a horrible experience at a dealership. (Long story short, in trying to determine my car trouble the dealership made my car worse, and then told me I needed a new engine. This was likely a $3000+ repair). That's when I took my car to Gary. He was able to spot what went wrong at the dealership, and he fixed the problem for less than $150. Though I may need a new engine at some point, he has saved me MUCH money, and has been able to keep it running with minor repairs here & there. He is honest, explains things very clearly, and looks at the best solution before jumping to the most expensive repair. He and Yesenia take the stress out of car repairs and maintenance, and I never worry when I drop my car off. By the way: Don't be thrown off by prior bad Yelps. I don't know where the bad reviews are coming from on this place. I found GP Auto through Tire Rack as a preferred installer and had my tires shipped there. They were on time, had a great price and did not try to up sell me on anything I didn't need. I actually asked them if the alignment was okay and I was told my car didn't need it. Do yourself a favor and take your car somewhere else. I took my car here and they destroyed the engine due to negligience on the part of one of their mechanics. They then refused to acknowledge this negligience on their part and I was forced to go to the Montgomery County Office of Consumer Protection. Only after I had my car towed to another shop for inspection and got the Montgomery County Office of Consumer Protection involved did they finally acknowledge their mistake and agree to report it to their liability insurance carrier. I had to have a new engine installed and was without a car for almost 5 months during this whole process. read more

WORST DEALERSHIP EVER. They not only fail to uphold their end of a deal ($500 cheque) but they also have the worst customer service I've ever experienced in my entire life. My jeep sat on the lot all damn day while they proceeded to redo a service appointment that was already complete 3 weeks ago. The entire reason I made an appointment and brought it in today was because THEY called me and told me the radio was ready for installation and just to bring it in before 9. Not only did this NOT get done today, but they had the nerve to tell me that I should be reminding them of why I'm there. UPDATE MY DAMN FILE AND MAYBE YOU'D KNOW. GP Auto Group is by far the best auto shop I have ever been to. Both, the management and the technicians are trustworthy and reliable. The management is efficient and methodical through their procedures. The representatives always leave me with a comfortable feeling. Nevertheless, Gary is the MAN!! His mechanic IQ is flawless! Gary rejuvenated my motorcycle (Suzuki GSXR) effectively fixing and replacing my engine as it was previously binding. Gary is versatile and well educated as he helps me keep up with my 2007 Acura TL. GP Auto Group never fails to offer great advice and informs me with information that is for my well being and safety. Brought my B5 S4 in yesterday to get a Stage 2 tune and the guys there were very friendly and honest. They gave me ample notice about the mechanic had an emergency so I didn't come in the morning and wait until he came back and rescheduled me in the afternoon. Love my car after it was tuned and it was a different beast. Its the best place to come in, get a tune, and be out in no time at all. The owners/ managers was very cool to talk to. read more
