Do not be fooled by the lunch counter name and look! This is a true gem of a Mediterranean restaurant. The platters are a full meal deal (we had to get to-go boxes) of deliciousness. We had the gyro and a really tasty chicken shawarma. The "side" of lentil soup was a generous bowl full - just spicy enough (and with the squeeze of lemon served with it, perfectly tangy). Next time, it will be hard to pick between that and the seasoned curly fries (dipped in the spicy garlic sauce or tzatziki sauce that is another choice with the platter)! I was on the fence with the rating for this Grab A Gyro location; between a 3 and a 4. Why? Because there has been a lack of consistency in the product depending on when I visit and who is working. On the good days - the gyro's taste fresh and provide a generous serving of meat on the gyro. It's hot and fresh and I can't wait to bite into the gyro plate that also comes with fries. On other days, the meat doesn't look like it is cooking on the spinning grill but rather just spinning without heat. The staff then slice the meat off and reheat / cook it on the grill. I will continue to stop by this location because it is the best gyro I have found so far in the 10-15 mile radius. There is another gyro shop closer to home, but it doesn't come even close to the taste of Grab A Gryo. read more

We ordered takeout Saturday night and it was hot and ready in twenty minutes. Very clean and modern feel. Food was still hot when we got home so high marks for the way it was packed! We had curly fries, hummus and pita, veggie samosa, salad, chicken and lamb kebabs, and rice. Everything was really good, chicken was definitely better than the lamb but I don't think we'd change our order next time. The spicy sauce and tzatziki were both really good and complemented the meats. We've been looking for a fast, fresh, Mediterranean place and this did not disappoint. I'd give one star if I could. Great food, typically good service. I came in and picked up a to go order. Got back to my office, ate my fries, went to take a bite out of my gyro and fortunately saw the thick black curly hair poking out of the feta before I took a bite. Ish happens, I get it. Truly, some of my favorite Mediterranean food (and I've been to just about every Mediterranean restaurant around here). Nothing too fancy about the shop itself, but I'm usually a takeout person anyway, so the restaurant setting isn't nearly as important to me as the taste of the food is and the consistency between each order. My vegetarian order and my partners meat order have both been consistently delicious here. The service is also fantastic. My sister and I came in right when they opened at 10:30 AM. We were greeted right away and then browsed through the menu. They have a variety of grilled platters, gyros, salads, and smaller portions and sides. We were having a tough time deciding what we wanted. The lady at the registered asked if it was our first time there and what we are interested in. I've recently became pescatarian so she suggested some vegetarian options. I've never tried baba ganash (eggplant) and she let me try a sample. She let me know that they roast the eggplant added lemon and hummus. It was so delicious! I decided to get the dolma gyro for $6.99. It had grape leaves stuffed with rice, tomato, lettuce, parsley, olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, pickles and served with baba ganoush (eggplant). Oh my! The vegetables seemed fresh and the egg plant was so good. Mind you, I don't really like eggplant. My sister got the chicken shawarma platter with a side of hummus and pita for $11.98. The portion was huge that we had to take the rest to go. Pita was warm and the hummus was creamy and somewhat sweet. It was pretty good! Overall, I'd come back. The customer service was excellent! She really took the time to help us decide what we liked and went beyond by giving us samples. They have a good variety of food and they even have a kids combo for $5.99 served with fries or rice. Picked up a few things on a first time visit to this little strip mall shop about 16 miles away from us. Parking is super easy and we were able to order food from their site without the third party mark-up which is so appreciated! Scheduled it for about 30 minutes from when we started driving and it was ready right on time. Food was still warm after the 30 minute drive home. Most of the businesses around it were closed on a Sunday and there was only one man there cooking and manning the cash register. He looked a little sad and bored. Can't blame him. I got to go home and watch movies! We hied home with our riches. The fries are the crispy, battered curly variety and are as tasty as others say they are, but BF got his Greek style which added salt and spice that really kicked them into another level. If you can take the calories, I recommend the upgrade! Samosas are very crispy with a good flavor on the beef inside. I didn't like the smell of the sauce that accompanied them so that went right down the sink. I think they needed a sauce to take them higher but sadly anything with mayo isn't going to work for me. The lamb gyros. What to say about those. The pita is very soft and good. If the lamb had a more distinctive flavor of something other than salt and meat it would have made a huge difference and I'd have added another star. The meat portion is very generous, but because of the salt factor, it really needed a better balance of tomato, lettuce, onion and cucumber with less feta. I didn't see anything other than a light dusting of tomato and lettuce. It said there was onion but I didn't have any. I've been thoroughly spoiled by the quality of gyro I found in Seattle and L.A. and so far Oregon and Vancouver are falling below that standard. I stopped by Grab a Gyro and took out a falafel and chicken shawarma wrap . They were both quite good , filled with ingredients and spiced just right . The wait time was appropriate . The only thing I would note is the menu selection on the countertop should have prices . I drove home to Polk County with them . My husband approved of the falafel and he's picky . He would have left out the pickles but that's on him . I had the chicken wrap the next day it made a nice cold lunch . The restaurant packaged the wraps in a cardboard type container on bottom with a plastic lid which traveled and stored well . A nice healthier alternative to fast food with fatty meats for sure . Grab A Gyro is fast, efficient, and delicious. We go there every week. We always get the kafta kebab platter with hummus, lamb gyro with curly fries, and a 2 pack of baklava. Our little O loves the kebab. It's spiced, but not spicy! It's charred and moist. The yellow rice is fluffy and we love the creamy hummus as a side. We've gotten the salad as a side before and it's good too! We love the spicy garlic sauce alongside. The lamb gyro sandwich is also tasty all wrapped up in a soft pita. We usually add the feta & tzaziki. The pickles in the sandwich give it a nice tang. Curly fries are the small indulgence. The baklava can be pretty sweet, but we always cave for some. Love the food here as well as the variety on the menu. I usually order the lamb kabobs with an extra veggie skewer on the side - they actually have real cubed lamb, and is usually cooked just right. Hubby usually gets the gyro and is always on point. Toddler loves the chicken melt on the kiddie menu. We usually get flatbread and hummus as well. I had to make sure multiple times that this was picked up at the right location because I was shocked at how bad everything was. The salad? Unseasoned, watery and wilted. The hummus? Unseasoned and tasted watery. Tzatziki? Tasted like salted watery yogurt. There was no flavor in anything. The lamb was pretty good, but also didn't taste the same. We had not such a good experience with their food but ,I am hoping it was an off day because I saw a lot of other great reviews on yelp.Ordered through ubereats and recieved my food in 30 minutes or so ,faster than expected.We ordered the combo kabab platter and the veggie samosas.The samosas were pretty great -flaky ,crisp and well seasoned.The platter had two different kababs ,tzatziki ,hummus (ordered seperate) and Basmati rice .The lamb kebab was so burnt that we ended up not even eating any of it .The chicken was slightly better but a little overcooked .It was pretty tough to chew .The rice was OK but wasn't good enough to save the whole dish by itself. Huge disconnect between the reviews and my experience. I ordered the chicken shwarma. The chicken was pre-cooked, machine cut, bagged food service chunks of chicken - not the "sliced" chicken that is advertised. Pre-cooked chicken is tasteless and uninteresting.
