    Lamb kebob salad!

Fresh!! Made to order food ! Clean and peaceful environment!! Fast service!! Very generous portions!!

I was on the fence with the rating for this Grab A Gyro location; between a 3 and a 4. Why? Because there has been a lack of consistency in the product depending on when I visit and who is working. On the good days - the gyro's taste fresh and provide a generous serving of meat on the gyro. It's hot and fresh and I can't wait to bite into the gyro plate that also comes with fries. On other days, the meat doesn't look like it is cooking on the spinning grill but rather just spinning without heat. The staff then slice the meat off and reheat / cook it on the grill. I will continue to stop by this location because it is the best gyro I have found so far in the 10-15 mile radius. There is another gyro shop closer to home, but it doesn't come even close to the taste of Grab A Gryo.

Ordered a few things for lunch today - the lamb gyro and the kafta kabob. They were both pretty solid! I love the simplicity of a gyro, but it's all in the ingredients. Overall good flavors here. Also quite reasonably priced! Would recommend for a quick lunch.

I'd give one star if I could. Great food, typically good service. I came in and picked up a to go order. Got back to my office, ate my fries, went to take a bite out of my gyro and fortunately saw the thick black curly hair poking out of the feta before I took a bite. Ish happens, I get it. They refused to remake my food when I came back in with my receipt and a photo. Makes the 20% tip a hard swallow too. I was incredibly polite and reasonable in my request.

This place was okay. Customer service was great. The food quality was good. I felt like the yellow rice needed more flavor. I highly recommend adding the tzatziki sauce. I didn't enjoy the other sauces as much. The lamb gyro had just the right amount of saltiness and would recommend that. The chicken was good with the tzatziki sauce. Good for a quick bite to eat.

My sister and I came in right when they opened at 10:30 AM. We were greeted right away and then browsed through the menu. They have a variety of grilled platters, gyros, salads, and smaller portions and sides. We were having a tough time deciding what we wanted. The lady at the registered asked if it was our first time there and what we are interested in. I've recently became pescatarian so she suggested some vegetarian options. I've never tried baba ganash (eggplant) and she let me try a sample. She let me know that they roast the eggplant added lemon and hummus. It was so delicious! I decided to get the dolma gyro for $6.99. It had grape leaves stuffed with rice, tomato, lettuce, parsley, olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, pickles and served with baba ganoush (eggplant). Oh my! The vegetables seemed fresh and the egg plant was so good. Mind you, I don't really like eggplant. My sister got the chicken shawarma platter with a side of hummus and pita for $11.98. The portion was huge that we had to take the rest to go. Pita was warm and the hummus was creamy and somewhat sweet. It was pretty good! Overall, I'd come back. The customer service was excellent! She really took the time to help us decide what we liked and went beyond by giving us samples. They have a good variety of food and they even have a kids combo for $5.99 served with fries or rice. The place was clean.

We were able to try a wide variety of dishes, and every single one was exceptional. I have dietary restrictions (no onions or garlic), and the kitchen and staff were incredibly accommodating. They prepared separate versions of several dishes for me without hesitation, and I never felt like I was getting a lesser experience. It's rare to find a restaurant that can accommodate food sensitivities so thoughtfully while still delivering incredible flavor. The food was absolutely delicious from start to finish, and the service was impeccable. The staff was warm, attentive, and made our birthday celebration feel special without ever being overbearing. Everyone in our group left talking about how amazing the food was. We couldn't have asked for a better meal or a better overall experience. Mediterranean Exploration Company has definitely earned a spot on our list of favorite Portland restaurants, and we can't wait to come back.

We weren't too hungry and ordered 3 dishes to share - the hamachi crudo, baked feta with Blackberries, and braised Greek greens. The service was pretty fast, we received our food within 15 mins. The hamachi crudo was tasty with fresh fish that balanced well with the yummy smoked eggplant, tamarind soy, black harissa mayo, and crispy ginger. The baked feta was the heartiest dish, it came out with piping hot pitas to dip into the creamy savory/sweet feta and blackberries. The braised Greek greens felt like the most basic dish out of the 3, collard greens cooked with a lemon/olive oil finish, which tasted as described but not exciting enough to order again. Just as the name implies, this restaurant is a nice way to try Mediterranean dishes for those who don't eat it often. Admittedly, the cuisine isn't in our top favorites, but all the dishes were executed well, true to their description, and made for some fun bites.

It's a nice location and was quite busy on a Tuesday night. We were sat right on time for our reservation. The server recommended 5-7 plates for our party of 3 and let us know that plates come out as they are made (pretty standard). Despite this, there seemed to be no pacing to how dishes came out. All of our dishes came out rapid fire one after another to the point where we didn't have time to finish the small plates and didn't have room on the table. The food itself was largely okay, but nothing to write home about. The two biggest plates we got were the pastrami and the short rib. The pastrami was somewhat dry, though the mustard it was served with was delicious. The short rib was tough and in the rub had one slice that was way too strong and overpowered all the other flavors. The hummus with burnt ends was good from a hummus perspective but the ends were super salty. The cornbread was delicious and probably the favorite plate of the table and the cauliflower was a close second. All in all, a pretty disappointing experience. Maybe it was just a tough night there and we'll give it another try.

The young lady at the counter gave possibly the worst service I have experienced in a long time. The outside seating area has trash and debris from the previous day...we were there right after open... needs to be swept. Doesn't appear like it has been pressure washed in a while either. Planters are smeared with dirt, concrete stained with food buildup and tables need a bath. The inside is just as bad, which starts at the front door. Front glass looks awful...smears, dirt, grime, and streaks galore. There are also signs peeling and tape residue left from signage that used to be present. Soda machine and bathrooms were also beneath expectations. You can't have a "thank you for supporting small business" sign if you aren't doing your part. I would love to support you in the future, BUT service and cleanliness must improve.

So it was a good value for a special occasion. I'll walk you through what we ate: First came their signature green olives with a little bowl for the pits. They had some little pickled red onions in with them. Soooo good! Then focaccia. It was a big hunk that we tore pieces off of and dipped in garlic olive oil. Those were standard with every meal. Now came the fun. The thing I love about tasting menus is you never know what's coming next! It's so much fun to be surprised! They started us off with a seasonal burrata with local strawberries, hazelnuts, fresh basil and a strawberry gastrique. Swoon-worthy! Next we were served the house version of Caesar salad. It came with a wedge of lemon to squeeze over the top. Yum! Next was the thinnest roasted asparagus I've ever eaten. I don't normally like asparagus but I really enjoyed this. It rested on a bed of some sort of puree (I forgot what they said it was). Next was corn ravioli. Sadly it was the only pasta included in this meal. I had been hoping to have another pasta dish or two. The ravioli was special though and not your normal filling, so that was nice. Then came roasted cauliflower on a bed of green goddess sauce. Tasty but I was feeling very healthy by then with all the veggies! (Couldn't they have replaced that with pasta? Sorry, I'm whining here). Our last savory dish was eggplant parm. It came with more focaccia. Again, I'd have loved pasta instead. Isn't that what one goes to an Italian restaurant for? Finally there were delicious, short, buttery Italian wedding cookies. But then our waiter surprised us with cannoli, for our anniversary! It sat atop Maryhill peach compote. Excellent! The service was impeccable. Our waiter was knowledgeable, personable and very attentive. We were also served by some other staff who did a great job as well. Good thing we've been married 42 years. If this was a first date where you want to get to know each other, it would be hard because it's pretty loud and the tables are crammed closely together. They really need a bigger space. We are looking forward to bringing friends and family here in the future.
