This review is long overdue. I live about 1/2 a block away and go all the time and I've put off writing a review long enough! This place is magical....unicorn type magical...I mean I literally get so excited in anticipation every time I'm going to visit. Its kinda like Disneyland to me but without the rides. It's not just the Olives (damn delicious)....it's the entire experience. First of all they are Ontario's oldest company. They've been in business since 1894. The buildings are a sight to behold and they have a makeshift museum on their grounds where you can see some of their possessions from way back in the day. They have one of their original cash registers in there and some field equipment and lots of other goodies to look at. They also have two gift shops. One has food stuff. Their own olives and lots more imported goodies. Oils. Vinegars. Pecan rolls. Candies. Breads. Nuts. Sauces. Gift Baskets. And so much more. In addition to food stuffs you can shop for all kinds of home decor goods like kitchen gadgets, gorgeous kitchen towels, beautiful cook books, drink ware, etc. there's just so much I cannot begin to name it all. The other gift shop is smaller and has a ton of gift items. It's a feast for the eyes and trust me you can lose yourself taking it all in for a good while. Another bonus about the gift shop is there is ALWAYS free samples of their olives and usually the olives oil with bread to dip to try it. I promise you cannot leave without making a purchase! When I went to the main gift shop and asked for the "Free Tour", They obliged us by taking us through their warehouse/olive making/canning areas where they still use some of the original equipment from 1894. They walk you through and start with explaining their history and show you plenty of photos. Then it's off to the room that soaks the olives and then the room that sorts the olives and from there they take you to more rooms explaining and showing the entire process. From farm to canning. It's an amazing experience that everyone I have ever took truly enjoys. And I've taken a lot of people. ***You should call first to find out if they are currently offering the tours. It's been a few years since I took the tour. I would also call to see what days/times they are open before you take the trip there. Now....their olives?!!!! OMG. You have NEVER had an olive that tastes this damn amazing!!!!!! I have no words. Seriously. They are ripened on the trees and during your tour they will explain their original process that they have used since the 1800's. They haven't changed a thing! I've never tasted an olive this good! You MUST try! If you're like me you will be so taken by the fairytale feel of their grounds you will not want to leave. I always linger a while in the front. So much green and it's such a private area. I'm so happy my husband and I found this location because it brought us to meeting Kai. Kai went above and beyond and made our wedding day PERFECT. He was so sweet and patient through the whole wedding process and just made sure we had no stress on our wedding day. When I say he does everything, he does everything! He helped queue our bridal party walking down the aisle, he helped set up all the decor, got all my vendors contacts, even helped out at the bar. Everyone at the wedding was complimenting how much Kai did for us and we will forever be grateful that he made our day stress free. Established in 1894 the Graber olive Co. has been canning olives using the same methods and equipment since day one with only a few minor changes (the boilers are now natural gas operated instead of wood) the olives are also no longer growing on this property but 70 miles away "both properties have been owned and operated from the beginning and are now run by the 3rd. Gen. They only can 1 to 2 months out of year (depending on the harvest) and hire high schoolers to do the manual canning although they have noticed a decline in high school participation in the recent years with more older people applying for jobs. The family gives free tours "our Docent has been working for the family for more than 30 years!" There is and old main house that is still lived in with a well in the front yard. What a wonderful place to visit! We were heading back from Las Vegas and weren't ready to go home yet. We ended up spending the night near the Ontario airport and the convention center. This morning I searched for interesting things to do in the area and found Graber Olive House. They're celebrating 125 years in business, which is a feat in and of itself. The property holds many wonders, once we arrived and had a look around. There's a lovely lawn area in the middle of the various buildings. Surrounded by mature trees, it conveys a sense of relaxation. The gift shop is where you go for gracious hospitality and a taste of their buttery, delicate, hand-picked olives and gourmet extra-virgin olive oil. Instant love! We definitely bought some of both to take home, plus some for a gift for friends. The ladies in the gift shop wrapped them beautifully for us. The shop was light, bright, and colorful. Their selection of merchandise evoked a gourmet kitchen shop. I could have spent a long time there. We moved on to a guided tour of the processing, aging, and canning facility. The machinery is vintage, to say the least. Their olives are now grown in Lindsay, CA, but the processing happens in Ontario. They told us you can see that happening each autumn. It would be fascinating to witness. Overall, I highly recommend a visit to this charming business. read more

This hidden gem is located in the middle of a residential neighborhood. The property itself is very nice (serene) with lots of historical items to see and read about. The main store has a nice selection of gourmet olives, dipping oils, jarred pickled items, chocolate candies, etc. There's also all the usual accompanying utensils, serving plates, glassware, etc. Friendly staff, but very slow getting customers checked out. There's also a small gift shop in a separate building. The highlight for me was the little museum and the production area, where the olive sorting, sizing, and canning happens. I did a self-guided tour, but they offer guided tours, as well. Definitely worth checking out this fun little place. read more

It's been several years since we've visited Graber Olive House. We left the state at the end of 2020, and recently moved back to CA. Yesterday we decided to take a trip to visit Graber Olive House (and a few other local favorite spots), and was surprised to find the big building empty. The smaller gift shop to the right is open though. While the inventory is small, they still have a selection of olives, cookbooks, and various serving ware. We purchased a couple of cans of olives, a little serving dish with a beautiful olive pattern, and an olive pitter. The property still holds a lot of nostalgia for me, as we made regular trips here when I was growing up. Leaving the property and driving between the beautiful redwoods still feels magical to me. I truly hope they are able to bring it back to its former glory. Looking forward to our next visit. Hopefully we'll be able to take a tour! read more

This review is for the olives, not the service. I used to live nearby and loved the olives. So I tried to order online, but the business was not accepting my cards. I kept trying, but wish I had known sooner that they were closed. I recently found that one of my orders did go through on July 4, 2023, for $80. Needless to say I never received the olives. I hope Graber's will fulfill my order once they reopen, if they reopen. Of course I tried calling, but no one answered my many calls. If they can't reopen it would be nice to get a refund. read more

For an olive lover like me, this was a throwback to olive heaven! On a street of houses, I pulled up into the driveway of a slightly bigger plot which was the Graber Olive House. I walked into the main store and asked if they were giving tours that day. A lady called out to another lady, "This gentleman wants a tour!" And so my tour began five minutes later. If you are fan of olives or just a fan of how things used to be done (and in this case still are), Graber Olive house is worthy educational experience for the whole family. The tours are free and only take about 15 minutes. My guide explained the history of the family and where they get their olives, then showed us the olive sorting process, the brine and curing vats, the canning and labeling machines. The curing area is really large, but since it's in back, the rest of the operation only feels like it's the size of a couple of large home garages. The sorting line was the most interesting part to me... Long bungee cords strapped to a wooden gutter start close to each other and widen out with the small olives falling through first, then the larger ones. It looks and is really old school but it is still a very effective and efficient way to sort olives. Graber Olives has been a family run business for over 120 years. They are the only olives in California that can be called tree ripened as they are fresh trucked down from Lindsay, CA and then sorted and cured at the Graber House. Graber keeps the pits in and does not add any iron compound (that's what makes other canned olives black). This straight to salt brine is why you see the uneven green to purple pigmentation on their olives. After I finished the tour, I spent a few minutes at the adjacent museum then wandered into the "second" store on the right, the one without the food products. It happened to be a tea room and I started talking with the lady that ran it. We got onto a variety of topics and after talking for an hour, I learned I was talking with Maura Graber, a nationally renowned expert on etiquette, who also happens to be married to Cliff Graber, the grandson that now runs Graber Olives. She then asked me, "What did you think of the olives?" "I haven't tasted them yet," I answered. Time flew by while we were talking and at that point Maura realized she needed to stop sharing her great stories since it was 15 minutes until close and I hadn't had any olives yet! ***Side Story - Some new Koreans in America consulted Maura Graber on business etiquette in the 1980s, and then put her on Korean TV as an authority on etiquette without her knowing she was a celebrity in Korea until years later when someone said, "Can we get a picture with you? You are very famous in Korea!" If you've shopped for olives you're probably like me, saw Graber Olives on the shelf at Stater Brothers and wondered, "Why is this can of olives $5-$6?" After tasting them, I can tell you why. Because they are extraordinarily nutty and buttery. They are more subtle than many other olives but that butteriness is really addicting. When I opened my first can, I had to stop myself halfway, otherwise I was going to finish the whole can in one sitting. If you go to the Graber House, the olives are about 20% cheaper and they have a number of sizes. There's the mixed lot (small olives and oddities), size 12, size 14 and size 16. I was told that size 14 and 16 are consistently firmer than size 12. All the olives have pits. The main store also carries olive oil, jams, jellys, mustards and other similarly associated food items. The building next to it is Maura's teahouse where she hosts themed tea times with teas, snacks and stories. If you are interested in doing that one weekend or want to book a larger private party for a group of friends, contact Graber House for their events and times. If you are looking for a slightly different farm/factory experience and are in the Ontario area, a visit to the Graber House is a great way to spend an hour either by yourself or with your family. read more

The Graber Olive House is a gem! We enjoyed visiting on a Sunday at 11am and it was very peaceful. We loved having the opportunity to chat with the gift shop attendant, Sue, while we waited to begin our tour. Sue graciously guided us amongst the gift shop, answering any of our questions, and giving good recommendations on favorite items. Mercedes, our wonderful, sweet, and knowledgeable tour guide, came into the gift shop to greet us and we began our tour. It was so neat to hear of the history of the Graber family and how the Graber Olive House came to be. Of course, it was also quite awesome to tour the machines that are still in work. Tours are also offered at harvest time (around mid-October to early November), which may be fun because you could see even more into the canning/packaging process. Another highlight is that the tour and the grounds are dog friendly! The Graber Olive House just asks that if you'd like to take your well mannered pup on the tour, that you call ahead and give them a heads-up of your arrival time. They have plenty of olives, olive oils, and goodies to sample and choose from in their giftshop (you can also find their canned olives on Stater Bro. and Ralphs store shelves). Their olives are without a doubt, the best that I have tasted. They are smooth and have a rich almost buttery tone to them. Be sure to also check out their sale bin located to the right of the register area. We found delicious goodies and gifts with an average discount of 50% off! If you have not yet experienced the Graber Olive House, I certainly recommend visiting. It has personally become one of my favorite (dog friendly) places in the entire Inland Empire. read more

The Graber Olive House is right off Euclid Ave, I used to stop by every time I drove back to the bay area from Riverside. The Olives you can mail order from their website, I have a feeling shipping cases of the olives will get pricey. Which is why it maybe a good idea to visit this location. If you have never had Graber Olives you are in for a treat! Most other olives I've had are usually heavily salted, or heavily pickled leading to some fairly overpower tastes. Good once in a while and in moderation. Graber Olives are much different, they are lightly salted and have a wonderful rich nutty taste. I've read writers describe the taste as "meaty", I'm not sure what that means but I can tell you the flavor is absolutely sublime. The olives are sorted and canned by sizes 12, 14, 16; with the largest costing the most. But I'll let you in on a little secret, if you are buying these olives for your own eating pleasure you may want to consider buying the "orchard run" which is available only at their store location. The "orchard run" is a mish mash of large and small olives, all just as tasty and delicious as the sized cans, but significantly less expensive. My family has been enjoying Graber Olives for over 30 years, they truly are one of California's best kept secrets. I highly recommend giving them a shot, or sending a couple cans to someone as a gift. read more

Let's start this review by getting one thing straight, these are some of the best darn olives I've ever had. It's sad to say I've lived in Southern California my whole life and didn't hear about this place until recently. Part museum, part gift shop, and part olive processing plant, this is such a unique piece of California history. This is a small family run "artisanal" olive producer that still does things "the old fashioned way" with hand-sorted olives picked at the peak of their ripeness. The Grabers don't use the term artisanal, but if there was one place that fit the term it would be this place. You can take a tour and learn how the olives are processed and canned before stopping by the gift shop to taste some olives. Guess what all my friends are getting for Christmas this year!? Kelsey, you earned the hell out of this 5 star review! Today is my girlfriend's birthday. She's is currently at Graber Olive House with her family. I, on the other hand, am currently deployed at sea on a ship in Japan. When my girlfriend texted me and told me she was there, I called the store and spoke with Kelsey. I asked if I could give her my credit card info over the phone and have her put together something nice to surprise my girlfriend with for her birthday. Kelsey was extremely helpful. She put together a vase filled with chocolate tulips, and let me pay for it over the phone. I described to her what my girlfriend looks like, and she delivered the gift to her in the store. Seriously, there are not enough stars available here to give you! I also want to give a shout out to the guy who answered the phone when I called (I didn't get his name). He could have easily listened to my inconvenient request and told me it wasn't possible, but instead he told me he thought he could make it work, and just needed approval from his manager (Kelsey). A quaint hidden gem run by the sweetest staff. Not a computer in site, the womxn who run the shops use adding machines. This is a great place for kids. They hold tours during the fall months of their factory. Theres also plenty of room to run around and interact with the small museum. I only checked out the food gift shop, not the knick nacks. Picked up some olive oil, pistachios, and nectarine jam as a holiday present for my pops. My purchase cost $27 and they even wrapped the olive oil.
