We're new to Grace Auto Repair, and followed our old mechanic, Steve, here. We've had them handle a couple service issues on our 185K mile Jeep, and have been very happy with the experiences. They are thorough and professional, but don't look for expensive add-ons to drive up your service bill. They will spend time chasing down after market parts to save you some money. My husband and I were new to Webster and found the prices to be pretty high. Customer service was very friendly, but the servicing took hours for an oil change and to replace the tires with some new tires I brought in. I was told I need to purchase a brand new car battery because it would die soon. I decided the new car battery could wait because we pay for AAA. It's been over a year, and my car battery is still working just fine. In fact, over the winter I accidentally left the interior light on in my car, so I called AAA to jump it. Well, AAA confirmed my car battery should be good for at least another year! Hopefully this was just a misjudgment, but it's hard to not feel like they were trying to rip us off. read more

Been to Grace Auto several times, but not any more.. Why? Well, we have found them to be friendly and competent...BUT..we have also found them to be.. Pretty high priced.. I have had my car serviced here several times now. I recently moved to Rochester about 2 and a half months ago. The car I drove up with me was a car I had just gotten as a hand me down gift from a good friend a week before I moved. It had 194,000 miles on it and would need a good amount of work to keep it running. About a month after I moved, I spun out in the snow and hit a curb. The car would not drive straight after that hit and I took it first to Pep Boys. They estimated over 800 dollars of work. Skeptical... I asked around for a good mechanic and heard about Grace Automotive. I took it there. It did need a lot of repair but literally for things completely different from what Pep Boys wanted to do.  Whats amazing about Grace is that they will try to inform you as much as possible about your car. They warned me of several other things that would need work but did not pressure me to do any unnecessary work or work that could be put off until a later date. They walked me around my car and showed me everything that was going on.  I couldn't afford the immediate work that needed to be done so I had to call my parents. My dad is not the easiest person to talk to over the phone on such matters. But I'm telling you these guys were so gracious and patient with my father. They are extremely professional and willing to work with you to find cheaper options.  For someone who just moved to a new area and shaken up by her first accident, I felt pretty emotional and vulnerable. The owner's wife came out from the back and saw me as I waited for them to finish talking to my dad and asked if she could pray for me since I looked so upset. I immediately broke down crying (is there a more girly thing to do than cry at the mechanic? I think not...) but they were so kind about it and took time to comfort me and reassure me that I would be ok. Their Christian faith is a big part of what makes this place so wonderful. I was so touched by the whole experience I've literally been telling everyone I can to go here. They really are worth it and I would never go anywhere else. The owner's wife even drove me home since the car needed a few hours of work. I live TWENTY minutes away!!!  Words can't fully capture what a positive experience I've had here. They are genuinely kind, honest, and professional people. I've come back for an oil change and basically am here every other week because my car makes all sorts of weird noises that worry me. The second I feel like somethings off, I call them up and have them look. They really take the time to check on the car and again, they won't charge you unless they actually need to work on something extensively. Terrible experience. Took my car to Grace for state inspection. Mark Spencer told me there were several small things that needed to be fixed, adding up to a few hundred dollars. I authorized the services, and after "Grace" did the work Mark Spencer called me and told me that they had to run a "Smoke Test" on my exhaust before my vehicle would pass the inspection. This test was almost another $200 by itself. After they ran the smoke test Mark Spencer told me that there were other problems revealed by the smoke test that would add up to over a thousand dollars to fix, or my vehicle would not pass state inspection. I took my vehicle to another car shop and passed the state inspection without any mention of "Smoke Tests" or emissions problems. If my car broke down and Grace Auto was the only shop around I would rather walk. Very DISHONEST read more

They are authentic Christians that treat their customers with a genuine care. After 3 mechanics each told me something different from the others regarding the work my Jeep needed, the lack of integrity was obnoxious and disgusting. I called Mark at Grace Automotive at the suggestion of a friend, and I'm still/always amazed by how accommodating and honest he is with customers. Got bumped twice on two set appointment days. I understand things happen. However, no apology was given. No consideration or compensation for my time. Waited a third day to have the work done for over 7 and 1/2 hours for work that should not have gone beyond 2 to 3 hrs max. No excuse for this. I have been a customer for many years and I believe that, although, the work was done, I do not feel appreciated and respected as a customer. There are numerous other negative happenings in past repair work before this where I felt snubbed as a customer as well. This last experience brought things to an end. I will look elsewhere from now on for other places to have my car repaired - too bad. read more
