Since Thanksgiving was the very next day, I figured I was out of luck and started mentally preparing to find a different dress to wear. I called the store anyway and somehow managed to get in touch with the owner. He explained that they had closed early because of Thanksgiving, which I completely understood. But when I told him my situation, he did something I absolutely did not expect. He said he was about 40 minutes away, but insisted on turning around and coming back to the store just so I could get my dress. He drove all the way back, opened the shop for me, and then had to drive another 40 minutes again afterward. I honestly couldn't believe it. That level of customer service is incredibly rare these days. He went so far out of his way to help me, especially right before a major holiday. Truly 10/10 service. Their prices are very high, and they upcharge designer items simply because they are designer items - which they claim is necessary because of the "special care" required. They charged me $47.50 to dry clean a Versace silk sweater but the label simply said "dry clean only." No special methods, no extravagant fabric, no special trim. 2. They have ruined several pieces: two wool sweaters were shrunk beyond wear, and they recently managed to unstitch the crew neckline of a cotton sweater, which I can no longer wear. 3. I gave them a wool zip-front sweater with leather zipper tabs and when I went to pick it up, both leather tabs were missing. It took one month for them to replace the tabs and get it back to me. 4. Their cleaning is hit or miss. I have sent back simple cotton tops with simple stains that they marked unable to clean and - miraculously! - they were able to get the stain out the second time. 5. Their pricing is hit or miss. When I questioned a price, they would double check and suddenly realize they overcharged me. This happened at least 5 times. I sent an email explaining why they lost my business a few weeks ago and did not get a response. They clearly don't care about their customers or their business. My husband brought the dress in specifically to see if a tough stain could be removed. They sent it out to a third-party cleaner who they claimed has "been in business for 30 years." Not only was the stain still there (which we understood was a possibility), but the dress was returned in complete disarray. It came back looking like an accordion, with a new snag on the shoulder, a pen mark on the collar, and random dirt marks. The original stain wasn't even in a noticeable place, but the new damage is impossible to miss. To make matters worse, the employee handed the dress back to my husband without a single word about its condition; I only discovered the damage once he brought it home. I sent photos and even brought the dress back in person to show her the damage. She offered to ask the third party what happened, but I refused to leave the dress in their careless hands a second time. I don't even want money--the dress is irreplaceable. I just wanted acknowledgment, an apology, and a shred of accountability for handing over an item in that condition. Unreal. Save yourself the risk and go to Mama's just a few stores down. Don't trust them with your clothes.
