So it's important to me and my friend to have a great breakfast and not have to think about things like what's taking them so long, etc... This restaurant is exceptional. The food portions are large, the service was great, and our server was attentive to our needs. She was very friendly too. The ambience is average, but I was not grading on that. Cleanliness is important. Promptness is important. Friendliness is important T.I.P.S (To Insure Prompt Service) is for those who don't feel enabled and expect a tip no matter what. I met a friend here for breakfast, 9 AM. There is plenty of parking and the restaurant is a lot bigger than it appears on the outside. I ordered the California omelette and that came with home fries and toast. The portion was very big and I was able to take about half of it home with me. The coffee was above average for a diner. The service was quick and friendly. My friend has to order gluten-free bread and that was available. She was happy with it. We split an order of the French toast with bananas added, but honestly, I could've done without that. It was just okay. I had breakfast at Grace's and overall it was a really pleasant experience. I ordered the spinach, mushroom, and Swiss cheese omelette with white toast and home fries. The omelette was delicious. It was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The toast was exactly how toast should be: perfectly crisp and buttered just right, not drenched and not dry. The home fries were fine, but pretty basic, more like simple fried potatoes and nothing particularly special. That said, everything else made up for it. The coffee was good even black, which says a lot because bad coffee can't hide without cream and sugar. I can't believe I forgot to even take a photo of the food! Service was great, the place was clean, and water and coffee refills were always on point. I also appreciate their system: they bring the check with your food and you pay at the register on your way out which is quick and convenient. One of my favorite things is the location. It's right next to a walking trail, so you can eat and then walk, or walk first and grab food after. Super convenient and a nice bonus. I'd definitely come back. read more

I had not been here in quite a while, so decided to stop by today for a late breakfast. The place was packed on a Friday late morning/early afternoon. I ordered eggs Benedict--with a grilled biscuit in place of the English Muffin. Sooooo good. Eggs were poached perfectly--allowing the yolk to ooze out with each cut. This morning I went to graces for breakfast. I ordered 2 potato pancakes and a coffee. I took a bite out of each pancake and couldn't do it. The pancakes were soaking in oil. Order came to close to $18.00. 6 hours later my stomach is still upset with just the 2 bites of the pancakes. Waitress saw my plate and didn't ask if there was anything wrong or anything. Went out to my car discussed on what I paid for and that I was still hungry. Sat in my car for 5 mins and contemplated if I wanted to say something. Went back in and talked to the waitress and she explained the same thing happened just a few days earlier. Owner was not on the property. Reached out and messaged the owner and you guessed it . Nothing. I never give reviews good or bad. But this defiantly goes beyond the worst I've ever had. read more

After seeing some of the mixed reviews for this place, I will not lie, I was hesitant. Not that I let others opinions dictate where I eat, but I do take them into consideration when choosing where to dine. When entering today at about 11:30am, I was greeted by one of the waitress' and I asked to sit at the counter. They weren't crazy busy which is just what I like. She handed me a menu and followed me over. A young man said hello and asked what I would like to drink, coffee of course. The third waitress, Daisy, did seem to have an attitude upon greeting me but did manage to get my order in right away and was friendly with some of the regulars. Once the food arrived she didn't ask if I needed anything else, but after my first few bites she checked back with me that my order was correct and satisfying. I got an omelette with bacon, American cheese and spinach with a side of home fries and wheat toast. There was plenty of cheese and spinach to my preference, the only suggestion I would make is to switch to the strips of bacon to cook and chop in house instead of the pre-processed bacon bits that are not cooked so well. The home fries weren't as burned as some of the previous reviewers had mentioned, I personally don't mind some crispy pieces mixed in with mine, however they were lacking some spices for flavor. I did appreciate the use of sautéed onions and peppers in them though. Toast was typical for a breakfast place. Atmosphere is a home like generic diner (not good or bad) I would return here if I was in the area again. Grace's is a a true greasy spoon, hole in the wall kinda place in a strip mall, down the street from the truck stop in Milldale, CT. My band has rented a studio right around the corner for several years and we order breakfast sandwiches and home fries from there regularly on the weekends. The food is quite good and the service is great. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Check your order if you're ordering out as they're a busy restaurant and things can get overlooked with their to-go orders. read more

Okay, there's a lot of reviews about this place. Many of them kinda mean or bad. But these are from years ago, idk. Honestly it's my first time going into this place. I just moved from Greenwich. Long story short, the staff was very friendly and caring. Idk about the people who expect to order food and get it on the spot, it's not Mac Donald's or any other fast food franchise, this is a diner that cares of what they serve, so waiting 20-30 for food is totally understandable. I have been a loyal patron of Grace's since Grace owned it & then when Mike ran it ... all the way up to the new owners. I get breakfast takeout from there a couple times a week. My order is simple egg sandwich & hardroll w/homefries Bill is always $6 and change Today they charged me $8.95 I politely & discreetly asked the girl ringing me out why it was so expensive today she said she wasn't sure. ( She is a newer employee ) but was very nice and said she'd ask. Then this guy comes over (think he's one of the new owners) and rudely and abruptly says What's the problem? Not even a hello or how can I help you Straight to combative . I said (politely and quietly again) I am just not sure why this is ringing up for nearly $9. He says we changed our prices two weeks ago that's the price. I said I was just here 2 days ago w/same order it was $6.01 He quickly interrupts and says we changed are prices 2 weeks ago... I said I understand I heard you say that the first time & like I said I was just here 2 days In fact I've ordered this sane order 5 times in past 2 weeks and I've never paid $9 for it. He says that's the price it is So I show him the menu and I point to first thing on it Which is eggs , toast, homefries for $3.95 ? You can even sub a bagel for a dollar more Or you sell hardrolls as a side for a $1.50 Or right on the menu under sadwhiches the first option Is egg sandwich in a hardroll w/bacon & cheese and it comes with homefries for just $5.95 So why am I paying $9 bucks for an order that has less items (I order egg sandwich homefries BUT NO BACON OR CHEESE!!) You are charging me more for less ingredients ? Heck you can order a chicken sandwich that comes with fries and lettuce and tomato (which according to their menus French fries are same price as homefries ) for just $5.95 I know it's only a few dollars but the customer service this owner displayed was that of intolerance and rudeness. I can get an entire dinner for $9. I managed restaurants of higher caliber & volume and understand food costs I also under customer service and the value in loyal repeat customers While this owner may feel victorious in his display of lack of service or gratitude ... he may also be victorious in losing another customer... now I see why so many people say graces has gone down hill w/new ownership. OH and if you are considering take out Beware their new prices have not been updated on their website & if you are the owner or "gentleman " who was so rude to me today and are reading this ... You need to learn to be more appreciative of customers and how to figure out basic math and value. $9 for an egg on hardroll w/a measly portion of homefries is ridicules especially for a greasy breakfast joint. Also since you've increased your prices you shouldn't decrease portions - the homefries I got today were 1/4 of how much I usually get ! *** I am firm believer of giving feedback first and directly to the restaurant before giving them a bad review online *** having been the restaurant industry for a long time I know people can be unfair at times and share/quick to post online. I also am understanding and know that mistakes happen, people have bad days & sometimes orders can me wrong... With all that said I did try to politely speak to the owner and he absolutely rude and had no desire to help ... he seems bothered to even do his job. This is shame because I've been a loyal supporter of Grace's long before these new owners came to be. Recently tried this diner for the first time. I've always seen it while walking on the trail. They have recently reopened since the Covid started so it appeared pretty busy. I had a simple breakfast of scrambled eggs and bacon and home fries. It was delicious. Can't wait to go back and try lunch. read more

We were looking for a place off of 691 to stop for breakfast and have been by this place several times so we decided to stop in on Saturday morning. I ordered the Irish Benedict with hash. I thought the menu said homemade hash but one taste of the hash and i could tell it came out of a can. You can also tell by how evenly the potatoes were diced. The hash did not have good flavor at all, it tasted like canned corn beef hash. The home fries were pretty good. My other half had an egg sandwich with kielbasa and he enjoyed it. read more

I tried this restaurant because it's less then 10 mins away from my home . The food was okay I did not have a problem there . I had a problem with the service which was honestly awful. Both times I went I noticed the same three waitresses . There is an older one with black hair who is just beyond rude and always has an attitude . The server with the dirty blonde hair who wears her hair up with hoop earrings was okay although it was busy so I can understand that the service might have not been as great she was always pretty nice but there was just no consistency no checking in you have to ask multiple times for the same things before anybody gets it for you no eye was never really made so it was hard to even ask for things when needed. Both times I went there my toast was burnt to a crisp which is fine but you think instead of bringing it out you would just make new toast prior to serving I feel like there's no pride in the food that's being served . I like this place. So far, I have been here a few times. It's the same waitresses each time and they ate very pleasant and helpful regarding questions on the menus or specials. It draws an older crowd but I think the food is very good and prices are reasonable. So far I have had bacon egg and cheese sandwich. They make it with 2 eggs and crisp bacon. I really enjoyed! This is my new favorite breakfast and brunch place! Go here for breakfast or brunch, and ASK FOR EMILY as your server. She's amazing. My wife and I went here for the first time last weekend and really enjoyed our visit. We picked our own table, and were greeted immediately by our server. She was very friendly and made excellent recommendations from the menu. She came back to check on us regularly, refilling coffees and waters. I saw that she had several tables in the restaurant that she was covering, and frequently checked on each one. The food came out REALLY quickly. It was delicious, and the portions were generous. We didn't feel pressured to get up and leave when we were done, either. Our server delivered the check and told us not to rush, but when we were ready we can take it to the counter to pay, then she topped off the coffee again. Seriously, ask for Emily! The other servers there seemed nice as well. But my wife and I used to ask for Emily in the diner she worked in previously, and when we heard she had started working at Grace's, we had to go try it out and ask for her. We have been going here for weekend breakfast for four years and I think it's taken a real downhill turn in the last 12 ish months. I have not been able to get a poached egg. There homefries are not just so-so. I ordered an omlette that came with salsa and was served marinara sauce. I asked for the salsa again, and it was then served to me steaming hot straight out of the microwave. I get that the cook probably doesn't speak English but the waitress should have caught on that salsa isn't something served hot.... It's still inexpensive even though they have raised their rates considerably. And my husband loves the pancakes here the best of all Southington breakfast joints. We will keep trying them until they get it right again. But not every weekend like we used to. read more

I eat at Grace's every chance I get - especially on Thursday's when they have the best chunky Rhode Island Clam Chowder I have ever tasted! And it's my favorite soup so I try it whenever it's available. The meals are decent. Not gourmet, but a good place to eat when I'm in between jobs and looking for a decent meal for not a lot of money. I go more for the convenience, excellent prices and quick enough service. One of my very favorite places. The plaza it's in is kinda ratty looking. I figure they save on rent and pass it on to me, the customer!
