I visited Riverside restaurant Café with my MIL. I have a gluten allergy. The waitress was familiar with my gluten allergy and was able to guide me through the menu. I got an omelette with gluten-free toast, bacon and home fries. Everything was very good. My mother-in-law also got a omelette with toast. Hers was very good as well. Service was good, food was good, and I didn't get sick from any cross-contamination. All in all, a good visit. read more

Let me start by saying, your customers are what keep you going, but to blatently lie and try to screw them over, will only get you negative reviews as well as chase business away. I called an order in for 4 bacon egg and cheese sandwiches on hard rolls, and according to the menu they were 5.45 each with cheese slices on the menu on line reading .45 each. WHEN I ARRRIVED I WAS TOLD THAT THE ORDER CAME TO 36.50. When I questioned as to why so much, the waitress explained the slices of cheese were now .80 per slice, then she tried to say the cost of eggs, etc....total lies. Too compound the story I got, I called back to speak to an owner or manager and spoke with a kid who said they are charging for the boxes????!!!!! Keep your boxes, keep your sandwiches, and just watch your business fall off the grid as the word thru Bristol spreads. read more

Lovely organic food, clean and happy environment. It's a shame some of the staff do not know how to handle constructive complaints/feedback. Expecially if the customer is speaking calmly and firmly to them about serving food issues. For example; I only ordered pudding and the older worker could not even serve me a spoon with my food. Although customers are supposed to help them self's to cutlery, this person managed to serve a full table of people with lots of food, plus their cutlery. I had to get up and leave all my bags and get a spoon using my walking stick, having a disability. read more

I have been here a couple of times now over the weekend and have enjoyed each time. I Have food allergies and very much appreciate how accommodating the staff has been with me . This morning when we came , our waiter was not not friendly or accommodating at all. I told him my food allergies and how the staff would cook my food separately and he said he would not do that for me. He told me to look for something else on the menu and left. The waiter would not make any recommendations at all. when the waiter returned I told him that I couldn't have anything and he just walked away. I will not return and search for another accommodating restaurants in the area but I recommend going forward to be more respectful about people allergies . I fully understand that every resturtant haven't accomodate everyone but at least but friendly about it. read more

Sigh. This was always mine and my fiancés favorite breakfast spot in Bristol. We took a ride out today specifically to come here for breakfast. We were greeted promptly & received our meals quick, like always. While waiting, I glanced around & noticed that the place needs some updating as well as a good cleaning. The floor was dirty from the table before us & coffee cup rings were still apparent on the table. We ordered the exact same thing that we ordered several years ago which 3 years ago was $25. Today? We paid $45 for the exact. same. thing. My fiancé always loved the apple pancakes, the apple is essentially pie filling. However, it was $1.95 to add a few pieces of apple per pancake.. $1 to add onions to home fries, there used to be no charge for onions & onions are relatively inexpensive. Service was decent, like always.. food came out fresh and hot. But to me? I just can't justify a $20 increase in 3 years. I understand inflation, but $45 for 2 people to eat breakfast is unreasonable for me. read more

Great local spot for an excellent breakfast. I always judge a breakfast place by how cook they can cook my over easy eggs. This place hits it out of the park every time. Staff is super friendly and makes sure you get exactly what you want. The homefries with the onions added are an excellent touch! Once you order the food typically comes out very quick. read more

Stopped in for breakfast this morning w/ the wife, we were 1st timers to Riverside Restaurant. She ordered the Mediterranean Eggs Benedict (w/o feta cheese), I went with three pancakes and a side of sausage. Meals came out after a very short wait, my wife liked her meal, eggs were cooked well. Potatoes were good also (she liked that the waitress had asked if she wanted onions in her potatoes, she passed on the onions, but the potatoes still had decent flavor). VERY generous portion of pancakes for me, only finished about half of them. Pancakes were fluffy, but a bit bland, honestly, I would not order them again unless it was with blueberries. We were both checking out the Belgian waffles at another table, they looked very appetizing. Service was outstanding, our waitress was very friendly & attentive. Didn't get her name, but she was pretty busy, was busting her butt this morning to make everyone there happy. We'd certainly come back to Riverside Restaurant in the future. read more

** PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE A PERSON OF COLOR** Leaving this place in tears because the discrimination we just experienced was overwhelming. Heard great things from a coworker so my bf and I decided to try it out since we are new to Bristol. You have to seat yourself which is fine. We found an empty table, sat down, and waited for the server in that section to come to us. She was tall with a short blonde buzz cut. We watched for over 10 minutes as she took care of EVERYONE but us. She didn't even bother to acknowledge us when she walked past our table to clean the empty booth next to us. A couple came and sat at that table and were IMMEDIATELY taken care of. They were greeted, given menus, coffee, etc. Eventually a nice Hispanic woman brought us water and menus and told us that our server would be over soon. She never came. We got up and left feeling so sad and uncomfortable. I called the restaurant to let them know about our experience and a kind woman named Tuly (I apologize if I spelled your name wrong) answered the phone and apologized for what had just happened. Apparently this server has a history of doing this. If you are a POC reading this, avoid that server's section at all costs and ask for Tuly if she is working that day so you can be serviced by her. The owners need to be better about who they hire because their servers are a representation of their entire business. Bristol is a diverse city and it's disheartening that things like this are still happening. read more

My aunt and uncle come here on a somewhat regular basis and really enjoy it. Unfortunately, we had a new server when they brought me. Well, we don't know if she was new or not. My aunt and uncle just hadn't seen her there before. My aunt's crepes came flat with fruit on top. My fish and chips were good. The server eagerly encouraged me to get gravy AND cheese on my fries (a new and positive experience). We asked for a couple extra things that never came. Our server accidentally brought someone else's food to our table. It was just a mess. Although we thought she was friendly, she seemed really scatter-brained. Since the food wasn't impressive (good, but not THAT good) and our service was shoddy, I think it deserves two stars: "Meh. I've experienced better." read more

Hands down Riverside is ranked in my top 3 restaurants for breakfast. Every single time I'm not disappointed. Just came home from there. Biscuits with sausage gravy were very good. Portion size could have been a bit better but the flavor was very good. Needed black pepper so I added it and we were good to go! Omelets are always perfect whenever I'm there. Also ordered a side of Oreo Pancakes. Wow. All I can think of. Everything you would want in an Oreo Pancake! They also did a little redesign with some new booths. I've been coming to this restaurant for 15 years and just had the worst experience of any restaurant that forces me to never come back again. I'll have to look to Kizzles across town. Our waitress was extremely rude to us and our surrounding tables (blond highlights in dark hair, and drawn on eyebrows). She snapped at my 65 year old mother for asking for an ice water - she had to ask 3 times. It was very uncomfortable and incredibly unprofessional. read more

Riverside is one of the many breakfast and lunch diners located in Bristol. Every time I've been there throughout the years, the staff seems to have mostly remained the same, and I'm sure they have a ton of regulars (as most diners do). Nothing on their menu is jump-out-at-you spectacular, but they have all the classic diner favorites - omelettes, waffles, pancakes, eggs, bacon, everything you'll see on just about any diner menu in the country. They offer their full breakfast and lunch menus all day, which is a nice plus if you're in the mood for a BLT at 9:00am or an egg sandwich at noon. So while nothing is necessarily amazing at Riverside, there's just something about a friendly staff and an order of bacon, eggs, and toast on a Saturday morning that'll keep you coming back! read more

We made the big mistake of showing up at 1:00 PM for lunch. The hostess seated us by telling us to sit anywhere and we were given menus. We spent five minutes or so looking at the menus when the waitress walked up to take the order. We said we needed more time, she said "we're closing". We should have left right then. We had no idea they closed at 1:00 for lunch and felt they should have warned us when we walked in. The air conditioning was turned off, the restaurant became extremely hot, the mops came out and we were rushed through our meal. The big greasy burger I had was OK. The breakfast was horrible. I had a steak and cheese omelet with hash browns and a side of bacon. The bacon was way over cooked, dry and very hard. It was probably really old. It was not appetizing at all..... and it was bacon! It's not difficult to please someone with a side of bacon! The hash browns......... you could smell the old dirty grease from the deep frier on them. I have worked in restaurants and I know what old grease smells and tastes like after 5 days....... it's safe to say that this place had not changed the grease in a very long time. This was disgusting and made me feel nauseous. The steak in the omelet looked, smelled and tasted gross. Im not even sure that it was steak. The only part of my breakfast that was worth eating was the egg. I hate to give a place a bad review, but I was thoroughly disgusted and felt sick after eating here. ....However, this place always seems to have a lot of customers. The service was very friendly. It was pretty packed on a Tuesday morning. If you're looking for your average hole in the wall, family run diner- this is it. The food is overall what you would expect- except the breakfast meat. It tastes like the sausage links are deep fried and the bacon is hard and unappealing. The waitresses are friendly and I have never had an issue service-wise. The food comes out fast- almost too fast. Makes you wonder if they saw me coming down the street LOL! But that's never something to complain about, and probably the best part of Riverside Diner. The only other big issue is parking. Unless you come for brunch or lunch (after 11 am), the parking is tight and it is hard to find a spot. read more

My faverite being kielbassa and cheese It is loaded with lots of meat and held together nicely by the cheese. Let me speak a moment about the homefries. They have fried homefries, but I am a fan of their grilled home fries. They are hand cut and left to grill and develop that crispy brown caramalization that is wonderful to crunch while revealing the creamy smoothness of the potatoeBreakfast at Riverside also features buttermilk pancakes that fill the plate edge to edge and are too big to finish but too good not to. It's a family tradition to meet up on Sunday and have breakfast with the cousins. I can't speak to the rest of the week, but Sandy always takes care of us and has a mind like a steel trap. It's amazing the things she remembers. The food is great too. I mean, it's a diner, but the breakfast special is a great deal for $5 and change. And the food is real--none of that prepackaged potato garbage. It's a great place for breakfast, filled with regulars, and has a feel of familiarity about it. We ate breakfast here twice, once was on a Sunday morning and had to wait in a long line but waiting in line for mediocre, below-average "breakfast" fare is unwarranted here. The coffee is very, very weak and tasteless. The home fries are not seasoned and are tasteless. The toast was barely toasted, more like warm, small slices of bread. The bacon was cold and hard. The place looks dirty, especially the floor. Outside, there was quite a bit of litter in the parking lot. On the other hand, The eggs were cooked to order and my companion liked his pancakes. Hands down best breakfast spot in Bristol, they have a house special that comes with eggs homesfries toast meat and a pancake or french toast .the homefries with fried onions crispy is the way to go, and pancakes were fluffy and hot Hugh as well, prices our decent as well I will definitely be back. read more
