She fixed it at the nick of time. While there I saw this ad for Grand Slams are back and since I am a sucker for miniatures, I decided to go back today to get the helmet. They have a variety of your typical flavors (vanilla, chocolate, etc...) but also offer seasonal flavors depending on the month. I'd give this a 3.5 star rating if that were an option. Most of the actual ice creams are GREAT. I love the black raspberry with chocolate and the chocolate coconut almond in particular, but all ice cream flavors that include their chocolate chips are really good. Some of their others that I've tried (salted caramel comes to mind) are not as strong. As far as going to the ice cream shop, I don't think it's worth it. I'd rather buy a pint at the grocery store to take home. Their prices are VERY high. I ordered a sundae on one occassion and the butterscotch sauce was really grainy and tasted terribly. I was literally trying to scrape it off my sundae and throw it away so it wouldn't ruin the ice cream underneath. The whipped cream also had a weird greasy texture so I took that off as well, which means I paid about $6.50 for two small scoops of ice cream and a small sprinkling of pecans. Not worth it. They have ice cream flavors I will continue to purchase from time to time, but I don't plan to return for a sundae or other treats in their store. read more

I spotted Graeter's ice cream pints in my local grocery store one day & was like "hmm, this looks like actual chocolate chip ice cream!" so I bought it. And it is the only brand I will buy now. Imagine my excitement when we pulled into our hotel and my eagle-eye spotted an actual Graeter's store! Call me crazy, but I had no idea where Graeter's was actually located (Cincinatti? Who knew?), I had no idea they had stores. Here's what I do know: real chocolate chip ice cream! These are not chocolate CHUNKS. They are chocolate chip shavings, and oh my God is that so much better than chunks! I worked at DQ back in the day (yes, I can still make the curly-q on top of a cone if asked to), and the best thing in the world to me is putting some chocolate cone dip into a bilzzard. As a new resident of Lexington, I HAD to check this place out. Yelp and instagram don't do it justice. I've never had such truly homemade tasting, generously portioned ice cream in my life (and I've had A LOT) of ice cream. My friend and I ordered two scoops each and couldn't stop eating, even though we both felt full by halfway in. I love this ice cream, and I'm not a big fan of ice cream. The chocolate chips they use are soft and usually good sized chunks of yumminess. My favorite is the mocha chocolate chip (basically a coffee flavor). It's so good, I'm saying this as a non-coffee, non-ice cream lover. I've tried a couple flavors, all really good. Almost like gelato- very rich. I don't think I've ever even finished a single scoup. My family LOVES graters!! Staff is always friendly, restaurant is always clean, and the ice cream is always cold and delicious!!! They use a French Pot method to make their ice cream, and it's made in small batches. As a result, it's always fresh and top quality. My favorites are mint chocolate chip, chocolate with fresh raspberry sauce (sooo good), and peppermint for the holiday. They have cakes, pints, and other candy for sale as well. I like the Seasonal flavors they offer as well as some old favorites that everyone knows. You can sample any of the flavors to make sure that you like what you purchase. The place is clean and seems well-maintained. Service is usually efficient and friendly, although I have encountered one particular lady on multiple visits who seems irritated and angry. She hasn't been there the past couple of times I've been so maybe she decided to move on which is fine by me. I don't really like my ice cream served up with a side of bitterness. I was raised on Graeter's Ice Cream, and to me, there is nothing better in the world. When they closed for a few years in Lexington, it was so heartbreaking! I was lost without it. Thank god they came back (even closer to my home this time). Every single thing at Graeter's is consistently good. I've never had something that I didn't love. I mostly go through the chocolate flavors, like the plain chocolate or chocolate coconut almond chip (SO GOOD), but have tried out some others and they're all delicious. The salted caramel is so good- I recommend you try it in a milkshake with chocolate syrup. They always have seasonal and special flavors, so there's always something new to try. This last time they had Mexican chocolate, and it was to die for! If you're ever in the Graeter's part of the country, you've gotta get some ice cream. read more

My favorite is the Black Raspberry Chip ice cream! This is some of my favorite ice cream ever! I almost always get that flavor when I go to Graeters and it is always delicious! The actual ice cream has such a wonderful and creamy flavor but the main attraction is the soft, almost chewy chocolate chunks!!!! They vary from small little shavings to large, quarter sized chunks. I don't know what kind of chocolate they use but when you freeze chocolate chips or something like that they will get really hard. Not this chocolate!! Very disappointed with the service here. My wife and I came in about 10:25pm tonight and the employees were cleaning up and made us feel as though we were preventing them from leaving early. I thought the store must close at 10:30, but when I apologized to one of the employees for tying him up, he informed me that the place actually doesn't close until 11pm. What was going on here? Nonetheless, we persevered. After we finished our ice cream, we went over to a display case that advertised a $3.99 special per pint. As we were looking at the display case, a young lady (Tay S.) working for the store started spraying disinfectant on the case, causing it to mist up into our faces. As we stared silently in shock, she looked up and said, as if she hadn't seen us (which was impossible given that we were right there), "oh, were you looking at the case?" But no apology. We nevertheless persevered. We chose a pint, but when she rang it up for us, there was no discount, at which time she informed us that even though the price was prominently displayed at $3.99, that price wouldn't apply until "tomorrow" (keep in mind that tomorrow was at this point less than 90 minutes away). When my wife politely told this lady that it's not good practice to put prices up before they go into effect, this lady turned her side to us, stared off into the distance, and ignored her entirely. We were flabbergasted of course, by the rudeness more than anything else, and asked for our money back. The manager, Kyle, came out, took the pint back from us, reiterated that the $3.99 price didn't apply yet, and gave us some receipts, saying he "hoped" the charge would not appear on our card. Ah me. We live right around the corner and had no idea that Graeter's had returned to Hamburg! Graeter's is our favorite ice cream and this new store is great. It's clean and organized and has lots of room to move around. The manager was very pleasant and introduced us to new items and offered us samples. She was working by herself and it was very busy but the smile on her face never left and she didn't seem the least bit stressed. She treated every customer with respect and was very friendly. Our twins loved the little monster eyes that she put on their scoops. I would always recommend Graeter's to everyone I know and I would definitely recommend this location as a good place to enjoy the delicious offerings that Graeter's has always had.
