The atmosphere and waterfront location are nice, but unfortunately the food didn't live up to the setting. Based on the food alone, I wouldn't be in a rush to come back.

This was our first real outing, and with friends joining us, we launched from Palm Valley Outdoors, one of our favorite places, and headed north toward Jacksonville. Our destination was Mavi Waterfront Bar & Grill, a place we had found once before completely by accident while searching for a boat rental location. That first visit left a strong impression on us, so arriving this time by water made the experience even more memorable. Pulling up by Sea-Doo was an adventure in itself. We got our first real chance to test out the bumpers, managed to get docked, grabbed our dry clothes from the watertight compartment, and headed inside feeling like we had already earned our first drink of the day. We chose a table out on the deck near the live band, which turned out to be the perfect spot. The music was phenomenal, the view of the boats added to the atmosphere, and the bit of shade over our table was a welcome bonus on a warm Florida day. It had exactly the kind of laid back waterfront energy we were hoping for. The drinks set the tone right away. Their rum drink is one we would absolutely recommend to anyone who enjoys a beachy cocktail with a tropical feel. Susan and her friend ordered the cucumber vodka drink, which was bright, refreshing, and better than expected. Even for someone who is not usually a cucumber fan, it was surprisingly enjoyable. For lunch, Susan ordered the seared ahi tuna, and it was outstanding. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared, it was one of those dishes that immediately stands out. I went with the Philly cheesesteak sub, and while the portion was a little smaller than I typically prefer, the flavor made up for it. It was genuinely excellent, and the French fries were every bit as good as we hoped. We also started with the conch fritters, and this is where Mavi really shines. Conch fritters can be hit or miss, especially when you live close enough to the Bahamas to know what good ones should taste like. Mavi does them right. We had them on our previous visit and made sure to order them again this time, and they absolutely delivered. Our friends also had the Bam Bam shrimp, which looked fantastic and earned rave reviews from the table. What makes Mavi especially appealing is that it feels a little hidden, like one of those places you almost have to know about to find. That only adds to its charm. The drinks are strong, the food is satisfying, the atmosphere is lively, and the waterfront setting makes the entire experience feel like an occasion. For us, this visit was about more than lunch. It was the first stop in what we hope becomes a long series of waterfront adventures by Sea-Doo. Mavi Waterfront Bar & Grill gave us exactly the kind of experience we were looking for, relaxed, fun, flavorful, and just a little more special because we arrived by water. Culinary Duo Verdict: Mavi is well worth seeking out. Go for the conch fritters, stay for the view, and arrive by boat or Sea-Doo if you can, because it makes a great waterfront spot feel even better.

We got there 30 minutes before closing and before ordering drinks, I asked the bartender if the kitchen was still open and taking orders. She let us know that it was and we were good to place an order and that it was no problem. Her name was Jordan and she was super friendly and attentive. We ordered the Pretzel Bites with Beer Cheese and we both got an order of wings. I got Garlic Ranch Mild, but I think I could have went up to medium and wish I had. My husband ordered Spicy Ranch Hot. We both very much enjoyed our food. Once we finished our food and drinks we paid the bill and left out, just moments after their official closing time. There was a hockey game on that went into overtime, but they weren't rushing anyone out or forcing people to close tabs which I thought was really cool of them. We're not sports people so there was no reason for us to stay longer. Just thought it was really nice of them to let others finish watching the game. Like I said, Jordan was great. Fast and friendly. I can see why friends of mine that live around the corner from here are regulars. We felt very welcome and taken care of here.

I did notice and liked the art on the wall and knew I'd find it a nice place to visit during CFB and the NFL season. With all that said, I also found the service here to be solid. Stephanie is as good as any veteran server I've experienced. Her knowledge of the popular items was sharp and everything we ordered was as good as she said it would be. I also liked that she would still visit our table regularly even during the rush hour time frame. Another area in which I was highly impressed was the value of what you order, at least in way of the sandwiches. I ordered a fish sandwich that would make a Micky-D's fish sandwich look like a minnow! It was large on a softer white bun. The fish (I cannot recall what kind) was very tender and everything really blended together with it (the tomatoes, lettuce, pickles), especially after I added the tartar sauce. My meal included coleslaw - a very well-prepped popular style version. I could've taken some of this meal home, but it was so good that I pushed my way through it! My Dearest chose the Rueben sandwich. A superb choice! Again, the sandwich is large, made of the normal rye bread, thousand island, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and sliced corned beef. She chose the fries with it, but I'll admit that those could have been a little fresher/hotter. Seemed they sat in the fryer bin for a little too long. But the sandwich itself was great! I ate half of it the next day and I do appreciate that Jerry's uses a high quality corned beef brand - very little fat on the meat. It was a great visit and I will add one more positive thing that will attract people to Jerry's Grille. That is, the value of what you get is just about the best I've seen from a restaurant in quite a while. Usually when I go out, dinners for two are over $40 for us, not including the tip. This dinner at Jerry's with our two (large) sandwiches, fries, coleslaw, and beverages, landed at $34, not including the tip - I was impressed and it helped me increase our tip to the server! I would only say that Jerry's Grille looks a little oldish inside and perhaps could use some renovation/updating of the interior. Just a nice, classic burger with great flavor. Came with your standard toppings. Lettuce, pickle, tomato, onion, and ketchup, mayo, and mustard on the side. Service and staff was friendly and made me feel very welcome. It felt like one of those places that remembers the names of all of their regular customers. The first pitcher was dry before the waitress asked if we needed another. The person whose birthday we were celebrating ordered their meal first and got their food last (by quite a bit, half of the party was done eating already). And when they brought his food out, it was the wrong order. He went up to let us know it was wrong (because our waitress was missing) . He could see his order in the counter, but was told that order was a mistake and he received the right thing. We had two orders at the same table with one very small difference (an ingredient missing on one) and the two were blatantly different. Between slow service, wrong orders, and no accountability this place seriously disappointed tonight. It's a shame, in my opinion they were one of the best wing spots in the area, but they have obviously let their quality control drop.
