My secret is out!! I love comic books. Buffy and HellBoy is my fav. When my friend went in to look for a Xmas gift for me she found me the perfect gift but raved about how I had to check out this comic book place and its better than all the places I have taken her too. She said Gavin helped her and even recommended some comics she could read as a beginner. Needless to say she is hooked and we headed to GCC the day after Xmas. Graham Crackers is a great comic book store. If you're looking for a recent comic chances are they'll have it. If the comic is a week or two old they might not have it in, depending on how popular it might be. But they still might have it. They have a great selection of current comics. Pretty much everything Marvel and DC publishes they'll have in. They also have a decent sized selection of smaller publishers like Dark Horse, IDW, SLG, and what not. They also have a decent selection of action figures as well. And they have a lot of TPB's and graphic novels as well. read more

I've been in here a couple of times, and the only reason this is getting three stars as opposed to two is because they do have a great selection. Unfortunately, I never get greeted, asked if I need help, or anything else when I've been in there. The people working are usually too busy talking to regulars or to each other. Even when checking out, the employees are usually busy talking to themselves than anything else. Disappointing to say the least, especially with the type of selection that they've got. read more

i'm a girl who likes what she likes and likes finding it fast. graham crackers lets me be who i am. and now they've added the location in the Loop? huzzah! wonderful in the warmer weather to walk down and pick up the latest 100 Bullets TPB. i am also a fool for great customer service - service that is like the best of all unflappable butlers. you can have any outrageous request and they will look at you cooly, think, then tell you where you can get it, if you can't get it here. looking for those old copies of X-Men when Storm ruled the Morlocks and was a total mohawked badass? they can tell you. (or when Storm and Forge fell in love? wasn't that sweet?) i haven't ponied up for the pull service but they've made some great recommendations and that's fine with me. they're polite, they know what they're doing and they don't make novices feel like dweebs. if only every store could be like this. read more

Minus one star because they are always missing at least one thing I'm looking for but the warm and helpful staff more than make up for that minor gripe. You get the sense that they really love this entertainment medium and want to share it with the world. I overheard a conversation between an employee helping a clueless mother which comics were appropriate for her child. I can say from about any retail stand point he went above and beyond the call with his expert knowledge of comics and finding the right ones for this woman, Bravo. read more

The staff is always down to earth and non judgmental especially since Im not particularly interested in DC or Marvel or any of the superhero comic but more of an independent NON superhero type which make shopping here one of the best part. I'm giving them 3 because they have a *expletive deleted* load of back issues and trades, but not as many as Variety! Pwned! Anyway yes they are the Walmart of comic book stores formerly moondogs Graham Crackers has the innate ability to be overpriced and understocked on new issues and overpriced on variants, to my experience since I was 18 I went to 3 shops Windy City, Chicago and Graham. Out of the 3 only one was able to accommodate me on my variants and that was Chicago. If they didn't have it I'd drive down the street to Graham and just look at the fact that no variants even the 50/50 ones were out on the rack and even the 50/50 were already marked up?? FTW!? Now I know alot of hipsters and whom ever, will say there so great and blah, blah, blah....no not really especially the one downtown, but the one on Clark the guys tend to be a little more laid back but sometimes you get the ass that works there. Hey there true believers, I am a comic geek at heart. That's why I hate graham cracker. Damn you graham cracker for being in such a frivilous neighborhood! If only you were closer then you could realize you're true potential. Really I like this place. The staff has done nothing but gone out of their way for me ( holding my monthly favourite titles, installation payments for pricier items, giving heads up on future issues) for me since I started going there 8 years ago. Which makes that much harder to say good bye. I am sorry Graham cracker Lincoln park, you are just way too north for me. As cool as I you'dnever know what a secret comic nerd I've been all my life. The secret occassionally creeps out once in a while, but generally I keep it under wraps. thats not going to be easy with this store just outside my door now. Its in falling distance from my apartment, which means I can find out what Magneto is doing to the X-men or what the hell Spiderman is up to daily. They have tons and tons of old issues and a bunch of obscure comics I doubted anyone outside the secret realm of nerd city had even heard of. Lots of room, a great set up so you know which section is which......I was generally digging this place. I think there'spotential to do more here(ovies, video games, etc), but if its comics and a cool atmosphere you're looking this is the place! read more

This is my favorite comic book store. I will never shop at a different comic book store ever. EVER!!! The staff is super friendly and very knowledgeable. I have gotten some of the best recommendations of purchases ever in Graham Cracker Comics. I am now a member of the club and i get a discount every week! I love this comic shop. I moved to Chicago in 2006 and for the first time ever had a comic shop near by and disposable income. The staff here was very helpful and welcoming into the world of comic books. I used to occasionally shop at the Graham Crackers downtown near Millennium Park because I worked near by. I found the majority of employees there to not be welcoming and to have an exclusive attitude. It made me miss this Lake View store. I now have my pull list set at this location and go out of my way to stop in every week even though I've moved further north. In the past month I have seen staff here have great interactions with kids, grown ups, the uninitiated, and the experienced alike. These employees care about their customers, have a passion for their work, and are conscious of the image they put forth. Thanks guys. read more

This place is easily one of the best comic book stores I've ever been to. The atmosphere is relaxed, the staff are easy to talk to/give great advice and its easy to find just what you're looking for, whether its comics, old toys, new figures ect.. I hadn't bought comics on a regular basis for over 10 years when I started coming here. Now I'm there a couple times a month. The selection is great, I almost always find additions to my weekly pull list. A great shop all around. Plus, they've got a tv behind the counter that's always playing something awesome, whether is Futurama or The Dark Knight or MST3K. What's not to love? read more

I've been coming to this location for nearly 3 years with nothing but great experiences. I don't live in Lincoln Park and I own a car, so I'd like to think I've my pick of comic book stores in Chicago. I've been to many and the staff and service have never been exceeded. "SHANNA YOU ROCK !" (the girl that runs the store on Broadway between Brynmar and Berwin). I walked in and told her that I was going to visit my friend in Colombia that speaks spanish and is learning english. She almost screamed and told me that she had the perfict comic ! There is this series "FEEDING GROUND", Half is in english and then you flip over the comic and the other half is that same comic in spanish ! Shanna went on to go to specific comics and tell me anything and everything I could ever imagine !.... This girl knows her inventory like the back of her hand ! She actually even found a comic for me to read !....If you have never been to a comic book store before then please do somthing for yourself and stop in...you will be AMAZED ! Thanks SHANNA !..... My father, son, and I would go in every Saturday to this comic store. Well, just a few weeks ago we stopped going. My father is really big comic book fan, so he loves talking about comics with comic book store staff. The staff seem very uninterested every time he spoke. They are very bland. When he had questions they just kind of didn't care. We would buy something every time we went in, but the atmosphere has driven us away. I just got back into comics after a couple years off, and I restarted my passion with Graham Crackers edgewater. Shanna (The manager) Has a true passion for Comics, and knowledge about them that puts me to shame. A lot of work went into organizing this store, something that you can immediatelly tell if you ever worked in retail. Also, Shanna goes out of her way to get you the items you want. I have a little bit of an eclectic taste in books, and she always goes out of her way to make sure I get them. Also if she is sold out, she will look for the book at one of the other locations for you. Great selection of indie books too, I found La Muse there just sitting on the shelf taunting me to buy it. It is easily the best organized comic store I've ever been to. As much as I loved my first comic shop, this location is definately the easiest way to shop, with a staff and manager that make it that way. Some Comic Shops have staff that pretty much won't get off their high horse to help you, theres no such thing here. I look forward to finding further gems there, as well as getting the usual wednsday haul. Also no trouble finding a parking spot. I whole heartedly recommend this store to any comics fan, whether you've been a fan since you were eight, or you just started at twenty eight. read more

A pretty mediocre comic book store. It's a chain and it has a chain feel to it. They primarily deal with new comics and fanfare. They do carry back issues but mostly longboxes with newer comics that was probably left over stock. The more collectible comics are overpriced. More of a fanboy store than a serious collector's store. There's nothing wrong with that. If you're a young person into geek culture it might be the place for you. But if you're a serious back issue collector it's better to look elsewhere. read more

recently went to this local comic shop. I can safely say i will never go back there again. I could have gone to strip club and have had better service. The one guy who was working on the saturday never paid attention to my questions and was more concerned with what he likes and why. Also he was always in a rush to get to his phone and search the dating sites. His apperance was very sloppy and messy and not how a business should be run. During my stay in the store i can hear him in the front of the store about how the guy he is dating wants this or that. He was obviously more interested in his sex life than helping out customers. I actually found a book I wanted thanks to a different customer in the store who claimed that they always talk about dating guys and women as opposed to comic books. In the same neighboorhoodi found another shop, nott so far, that was very welcoming and friendly. Do youself a favor and go to alley cat comics instead of this old cookie shack read more
