Grain and Berry is my go-to spot for healthy yet filling foods! They cater to most dietary needs i.e. vegan, gluten-free, dairy free, vegetarian etc. and they have a pretty incredible menu. Their savory menu items are are served with plant based meats and can be ordered as either flatbreads or quesadillas. You can can also order either with cauliflower or broccoli crust. Personally I recommend the quesadillas because they're extra cheesy. We tried the Kickin Chicken and Let's Go Pesto both of which I'd order again. Their bowls are especially not to be missed!! Great place to hang out! It's spacious and has various tables and a couch with toys for kids and games. We got 2 smoothies and an avocado toast. They were good. The avocado spread looked premade and unfortunately our picky eater didn't want it. But they had gluten free toast which is awesome! It's hard to find allergy friendly options. I'm giving this place a 3/5 because, while the service and portions were great (definitely 5/5 on that front!), the smoothies didn't quite do it for me. I tried the Magic Dragon, and while it was okay, it just wasn't as sweet as I like. My girlfriend said it was "healthy," so maybe that explains it--it's just not my kind of smoothie. That said, my puppy seemed to enjoy it, so there's that! If you're looking for something lighter and healthier, this might be your spot, but for me, I'll probably try something else next time. read more

Worker wear mask and gloves. They keep the customers safe. I got the Vacation Smoothie. It is mango, banana, and pineapple smoothie. Drank/ate my way around the menu some more so I figured that deserved an update. I'm getting less vegetables at home, so I'm now trying to drink them. $6.99 isn't super cheap for a drink, but it isn't that expensive either. To put it into perspective, it is the same price as an avocado toast here. I rather eat my calories, but I'm trying to get more vegetables, so it is a trade off. Here are the new food items I've tried. DRINKS: ELVIS PARSLEY - Very healthy tasting. It tastes mainly of celery, which is a relief because I was afraid it would taste mainly of parsley! As long as it is as healthy as it looks, I would definitely get this again. (Parsley, Kale, Cucumber, Celery, Sea Salt, Lime) SUMMER GLOW - My favorite of the drinks, but no green veggies to be seen. I'm a fan of tumeric and carrot, which are the main ingredients. This is my go to (Pineapple, Carrot, Tumeric) TURN THE BEET AROUND - I keep calling it Beet The Heat, which I think is a better name (I'm biased though since I keep calling it by that name). It's definitely on the sweeter side because of the beet and red apple. It is a good choice as well. (Beet, Red Apple, Sweet Potato, Lemon, Carrot, Tumeric) AVOCADO TOAST: I'm a huge fan of their avocado toasts. I got the Everything, mainly because I read someone else said it was salty and I love my salt. It was delicious. The thin spread of cream cheese makes this a decadent choice. ACAI BOWLS: GOOD KARMA - If I'm feeling indulgent, I get the Good Karma. It is very sweet so I'm pretty sure it isn't healthy. However, it does satisfy my sweet tooth. DON'T KALE MY VIBE - It has kale, which is a veggie. It's a little less sweeter than the Good Karma, but it's still sweet! I get this when I want to feel "healthy". If you are in a rush, it does take a little while to get your drink/food, but that's because they make everything to order. It's a huge space so tables are plentiful. I've been dying to try this place and finally got to today. The inside is too cute, nice atmosphere. The açaí bowl we got was Relax, eat and repeat with an açaí base topped with granola, strawberries, bananas, peanut butter, Nutella and chopped nuts. The bowl was so tasty and big too! It was plenty for both my husband, myself and our toddler daughter. I would be curious to know if the fruit is all organic as they mention the granola is, but the fruit being organic would be even more important to me. While I liked it a ton and would be back, the service was pretty bad. Two employees standing by the register with us standing right in front and neither one greet us. They talk amongst themselves and say things to coworkers coming in but completely ignore that we're standing right in front of them. As first-time customers, I was pretty close to just walking out. A simple hello would suffice. The male coworker was just standing in front of us staring at his phone. I usually don't associate acai bowls with decadence, but Grain and Berry know how to make a dope-ass bowl. I've been here twice now-- which is saying a lot, because that means I've stopped by both times I've visited town. The cafe has a wide variety of choices for both bowls as well as smoothies and juices. While the smoothie and juices look delicious, I've always stuck with a bowl because they are so damn good. My favorite thing about grain and berry is that you can get an acai bowl with oatmeal. What?! You would think the oatmeal would be too hot and melt the acai, but let me tell you that is not the case. In fact, not only do they offer oatmeal bowls, but you can customise your own (pro-tip, do it! it isn't listed on the menu, but it's definitely possible). My favorite is to make a custom bowl with oatmeal, a little granola (what can I say, I'm greedy), bananas, blueberries, peanut butter, and nutella. Oh man. Just writing that out makes my mouth water. The bowls are so, so decadent with the nutella and peanut butter drizzle, and the oatmeal is warm and sweet. This bowl is definitely a beast, and a meal that will keep you full for hours after. So if you have a sweet tooth but are trying to be healthy, stop on by. No guarantees the bowl you make is the best for you, but you can trick yourself into feeling a little less guilty. read more

Overall the açaí bowls and the build the bowls are great. I do think they're quite overpriced for the amount you get. The staff is very nice and they make each bowl picturesque. I live just down the street from Grain and Berry. My boyfriend and I went in on a whim because I was craving something sweet and light (and he never had an acai bowl before). The inside of the store is beautiful and HUGE! There's lots of seating for parties of all sizes. The walls are decorated with gorgeous wood paneling and industrial lights that make for aesthetic photos. The menu is pretty extensive, which is nice for the options but can overwhelm someone like me who can get indecisive (gimmie ALL da snacks!). The cashier was very helpful and did not rush me at all. I eventually chose a Superfruit Pitaya Bowl: Pitaya, Organic Granola, Strawberries, Blueberries, Chia Seeds, Coconut Flakes, and Honey. This bowl comes PACKED! It is totally worth the price. There was enough to save for a second snack later on. My boyfriend chose the "Relax, Eat, Repeat" Banana Split: Bananas, Yogurt, Organic Granola, Strawberries, Peanut Butter, Nutella, Crushed Nuts, and Honey. They use peanuts as toppings in this dish. My boyfriend gave me one or two spoonfuls before he devoured the whole thing himself. Needless to say, he enjoyed his split. The food here is refreshing and delicious. They say death and taxes are the only certain things in life, but I'd like to add "expensive fruit bowls" to that list. Whether pitaya, açaí, or spirulina, you'll spend $10+ on a bowl pretty much anywhere you go. G&B follows this trend but is actually sliiiiightly less expensive than other places I've been. I exaggerate "slightly," because the difference has been between a quarter and a dollar, depending on the business. Many pros for this place: smells clean, looks clean, portions are huge, and they serve Buddy Brew!!! I left a glowing review for another açaí bowl place but will never go again. That's how much of a selling point BB is for me. The atmosphere is on trend: modern rustic. Besides the blending and espresso machine sounds, it's fairly quiet. MUCH quieter than a Starbucks. The staff is friendly and completely understanding when you get overwhelmed by the giant menu. They also have a rewards program, which lets you earn a free bowl after many, many points. Still, if you go enough, why not? Sign up. The bowls are humongous and easily filled me up from 10am to 2:30pm today. It's not unusual for me to spend $10 on lunch anyway, so it's a choice I'm comfortable with. After coming several times during different times of the day I'm ready to rate G&B with a solid 3 stars. First I want to say that Westchase needs more establishments like this, but since we recently got an excellent Açaí Juice Bar place it's hard not to compare to Cold Pressed. Things I love: - decor - proximity to my house - many options - decent hours of operation (has changed three times, but I believe for the better) - Buddy Brew Coffee is served here - decent prices - smoothies are pretty good Things that need improvement: - the bowls are way too sweet. That being said, a lot of people are just trying Açaí bowls for the first time around here, so sweet is probably good to them since they are probably looking for more of a dessert. However as someone actually used to eating these bowls, I'm looking for something healthier and more on the tart side with a slight sweetness. - the bowls are way too soupy. I don't want a cold soup with toppings...I want a sorbet-like (even a bit firmer) consistency that holds up to the toppings. No slurping. - the coffee is delicious, but inconsistent. I've had them made too cold. Then very hot...hot is always better. - the coffee needs its own line or be placed ahead of bowl orders. We walked in when it wasn't very busy...we walked up to the cashier closest to the coffee and she told us to get in the line...we let her know that we were only there for coffee and she nodded, like ya get in line...2 bowl orders in front of us...then 2 bowl orders behind us. The workers did the 2 bowl orders in front of us...then got to our order and realized they didn't know how to make a cappuccino and had to call a manager from the back to be trained on how to make them...the 2 bowl orders behind is got their bowls before we got 2 cappuccinos...that were lukewarm...20 minutes after we ordered. Unacceptable. Glad Grain and Berry is here and I'll be back especially for Buddy Brew Coffee being served in Westchase...Finally! However I hope they get some things straight because we need places like this. I'm also glad they are opening earlier every day...8am now (it was 7:30 weekdays, but weekends at 9am just last week). If they can adjust the bowls to not be so sweet and prioritize coffee only orders they will do well. They need to capitalize on the Buddy Brew being served. Once more people find out about the coffee G&B will get more coffee patrons...and they better be ready to make the coffee right and fast! This is my new go-to destination for acai bowls! The staff is always friendly and helpful, and the bowls are amazing. Everything is fresh & delicious, and the bowls are overflowing with food - it almost feels like I'm eating a dessert instead of something good for me. I've tried dine-in and to-go, and they are both good, but I felt like I got even more with the dine-in glass bowl. The prices are a little higher than some other places I've had acai bowls, but that was the only downside. After attempting to make my own acai bowls at home, I think it's worth cost. The restaurant is always clean, and there is usually seating available. It's in a little plaza, but there is a turning lane to get in if you're heading north on Countryway. I only wish it was closer to my house - then I'd be there more often! There's a location in Palm Harbor too. Hopefully, they'll be expanding to more locations in Tampa Bay soon. read more

This Grain and Berry location is tucked away in a small plaza near Countryway Blvd and Race Track Road. In my opinion, this Grain and Berry is unique because the store's size is larger than the Palm Harbor and USF locations. The bowls are cheaper here too priced at $10.60 compared to $10.95. Since the Westchase store opened, they've offered espressos, coffees and juices this concept must've been successful as it's now expanded to Palm Harbor and Trinity. Maybe this location is different hence the cursive design on the sign out front that says "Grain and Berry Cafe" instead of the big block letters at other locations that read "Grain & Berry." Each time I've visited this store there hasn't been many customers here. The staff is always nice and the food has always been spot on from bowls, avacado toast, parfaits and smoothies. Today, I ordered avacado toast with egg when it's served it comes on a cutting board with a tiny cup of fruit. The avacado is plettyful spread out upon a toasted slice of bread. However, the egg on top didnt come out over easy like in the picture nor poached like in the description but in two small circular like egg patties. I was a little disappointed with how the eggs were. There was no runny yolk inside either egg and this dish wasn't as tasty as the everything avacado toast offered for the same price. However I did earn double loyalty points with my purchase on the Grain and Berry app by visiting the store on "double point Monday." read more

I came here on a Saturday early evening in between errands. I have been wanting to try this place for a while. I have heard many good things and it was voted the best açaí bowl in Tampa. The menu is more than just açaí bowls. They offer smoothies, juices, other super fruit based bowls, toast, and coffee beverages. The menu is extensive and will definitely have to take a few trips here to try everything. Luckily I had a deal for $20, so I could splurge a bit. All of the bowls are $10 and they are pretty big. This is a plus because I have paid that much at other places for a smaller serving. I ended up ordering the relax, eat, and repeat. The presentation is appealing and It was very flavorful. I would say that this is more of a dessert though and not something you should be eating regularly. Don't catch yourself trying to "eat healthy" and down one of these daily. They are a healthier option but not for a diet. With that being said they do offer a build your own bowl, so the higher calorie ingredients can be trimmed. Anyway, I saw they were offering immunity shots as a special. I tried the turmeric shot. It gave me a noticeable energy boost to finish the rest of my errands. I went for the first time today with some girlfriends after the gym. I mentioned that including protein was important to me, and it was my first time there and the girl just looked over me like helping make recommendations wasn't important. Okay great. I chose a yogurt bowl and went on my way. Then part of our group let me know later on that I could have added extra protein for $1. I work in the service industry. I understand that you don't want to be helpful 100% of the time. I know that sometimes you don't feel like making recommendations or even talking to your customers, but it's kind of what you're there for. That part of my visit was zero stars. The yogurt bowl was five stars for taste and four stars for value. This place is SUPER EXPENSIVE. (On the plus side, one bowl lasted two meals!) I will definitely make my own copycat at home, but I definitely enjoyed the bowl and the company of my friends after a crazy tough workout. We plan on coming back often, and I'm hoping that the lack of service was just a one time fluke. I can see myself coming in to get coffee and study. The interior is adorable and it was a very cozy and delicious way to enjoy breakfast with the girls. Now I've had smoothie bowls, at various places and the bowl I got from Grain and Berry Cafe was exactly what I expected fresh ingredients, amazing presentation. What I didn't expect was one of the owners introducing himself to all of the customers. I didn't expect the wonderful customer service either. They offer traditional açaí and my favorite- dragonfruit. They have around 20+ bowl options or an option to build your own. Each is reasonably priced at around $11-13. They also offer avocado toast and fresh made juices. These options are equally as delicious, it just depends what you're in the mood for. Additionally, they offer Buddy Brew coffee. I have tried the carpe diem, superfruit and dragon berry! All of them are great but my favorite is the carper diem. It has granola, nutella, strawberries, bananas, and peanut butter! The service is always great and everyone is really nice. I usually ask for a to go container even though I eat half in the restaurant. That way I can take it home for later. They have just recently opened up in westchase (where 5 guys used to be) and it's great to have more and more healthy options in the neighborhood. They have numerous combinations to choose from. For the bowls, their bases range from acai to kale. I have tried all of the base flavors and they are all great. I do tend to stick to the acai flavor though. My favorite bowl is the Mango Passion. It has the acai base with pineapples, mangos, almonds and honey. It's rather delicious. The bowls are always HUGE and filled over the brim with fruits and goodies. I suggest sharing most of the time as I always end up having leftovers. The place itself has a very attractive interior and it's located centrally if you're familiar with the area. It's not typically too busy. I'm always able to find parking and there's never a huge wait time. The workers there are always nice and friendly.
